*Bryce was startled to see the others arrive so quickly.*

Well, well. Here you are. I'm glad you guys made it here safely. Where's Tanasha?

*Is still waiting for the as-yet unknown beasts to show thier faces (or whatever they have) before doing anything*

*Daewyn scratches the back of her head sheepishly and hugs the fox girl*

Sorry! I didn't mean to scare you but I've been so worried about all of you cause we got here pretty quick and then we just waited and I remember how creepy all those bird-things were and I had to dive into the earth to get away from one or I think I might have gotten really hurt or something and I knew you guys couldn't do that and I didn't want you to get hurt but you're here now so it's ok!

*:Baikasu, preocupied with dodging the birds, runs right into the forest.*
Baikasu: Get the hell away from me! Gods damn!...*looks ahead* ... oh s**t!
*Runs into a pricker bush and trips*
Baikasu:Natural barbed wire. I hate it. ******** pricker bushes.
*He gets up, and hacking all the pricker bushes in his way, he goes over to Sion*
Baikasu:We don't speak of this ever again, okay?

Naoko let the Void disappear around her, dusting off what was last of the dirt from the tree.

Good thing that I didn't exactly hit the thing...

You mean good thing that the Void has no sense of time and space.

She looked around, noticing that there were few people than last.

"...Where's Lucavi and Tanasha?"

NPC Sion:
"We don't speak of this ever again, okay?"

Sion, too, was dusting himself off. "...Yeah...something like that."

You guys don't know either...hmm. Guess we'll have to wait for them.

Baikasu:Good. We agree.*Recharges Kasiko, since it lost it's charge after he fell*
Baikasu:Well, I think we'd better go over to the others. I saw one of them run into the forest to the left of our current position. Let's check in that direction first.

"I've cast a spell to find them before we left," Naoko said. "It should find them soon enough..."

At least I hope so...

NPCing Lucavi:

Sure enough, the light faerie that Naoko called upon searched near and far until finally, it found Lucavi unconscious towards the outskirts of the town square. The demons circling around did not seem to notice the little fae, and it easily flew past them to lend aid. It's white eyes gazed at Lucavi's face, wondering what to do.

It flew over to one side of his cheek, lightly tapping him to see if he would rouse. When that didn't work, it flew to his right ear, whispering. Lucavi winced at the sounds it was making, slowly opening his eyes.

"What the..."

The fae gestured to the Ache Forest, not far from Tuvidal's borders. He turned his head, shaking off what was left of his confusion. The demon "birds" screeching caught his attention, and he grabbed his sword.

The fae then left, searching for Tanasha.

"That's good to know, Naoko. So I guess we get to wait around a bit more..."

*Sits behind the bar making various kinds of incendiary, explosive, and corosive ordinance from the materials at hand, all the while singing upbeat tunes in a language that nobody else there understands.*

*Daewyn danced around impatiently, occasionally glancing to the sky with an ill-masked look of fear glowing in her eyes. Finally she could stand the wait and worry no longer and decided to risk the Melbane's ire with more of her incessant questions.*

What are we waiting for? Do you think those things got the others? What were they anyway?

"What are we waiting for? Do you think those things got the others? What were they anyway?"

Naoko wasn't sure if she could answer all the questions because she herself didn't even know the answers.

"...Let's head on to Tuvidal," she said with slight hesitation. "I'm sure Tanasha and Lucavi got the message. Besides...I'm kind of worried how the city's going to look like..."

Or rather will look like soon, was her unvoiced thought.

She knew she didn't answer all of the questions, but it was better to move on ahead than to dwell in the dark. At least, that was her motto.

She glanced over to Sion and Bryce. "You two know the way from here, right?"

Sion scratched his head, muttering, "Yeah...sorta."

Bryce just nodded.

NPC Background:
It was close to a new day now, and there was still no sign of her other target. The fae then veered off of Lilandre's path and headed towards the mountain areas of the village. There wasn't that much time left before time would expire it, and it needed to complete its mission before it goes back to its realm.

Luckily for the faerie, it heard a strange voice hum -- something sounding fairly familiar. It grinned to itself before flying off in that direction.

*Daewyn, relieved that they were finally doing something that at least seemed productive, was happier than she had been in a while, despite the lurking fear of the flying mostrosities. She skipped along next to Bryce and decided that since she had failed to get any answers out of Naoko, she would see what she could get Bryce to tell her.*

Hey Bryce? What is Tuvidal like?

"Hey Bryce? What is Tuvidal like?"

Daewyn's cheery voice sounded next to him.

"Hmm? Oh, Tuvidal..."

It's been years since I've been there...I wonder if they'll remember me. I hope not...that could cause a problem. And her...

*Bryce shook off the thoughts going through his head*

"Well, it's not too big, and not too small. It's a heavily guarded "fortress" (I guess you could call it that) filled with old buildings and a tower. The Magic Guild and adjoining university are at the center of the city. That's where I spent my time. I went there to study magic because that is what Tuvidal is. It's a city completely devoted to the magical arts. The elders of the city made it a point to educate those with the gift of magic. It's a really beautiful city...unfortunately I had to leave. But that really doesn't matter. Sion may be able to tell you a little more..."

Oh ok... that's a good idea.

*Daewyn searched the group quickly and saw Sion walking slightly apart from the others. She quickly crossed her way over to him and tugged on his sleeve to get his attention. He looked down at her with a startled expression on his face.*

Sion: Oh, hi....

Daewyn: I'm Daewyn. You've been to Tuvidal before, right? What's it like?

Sion: Yeah... yeah I've been there before.

*Sion fell silent after that and resumed that distant look that was usually on his face. Daewyn frowned, but decided not to push the issue and instead looked through the crowd for someone else to get some information, and maybe a little conversation, out of.*

NPC Sion:
Tuvidal, hmph. He hadn't been in there for a long time.

Sion and Bryce had been leading the way through the forest. It wasn't quite hard for Sion. Even though he hadn't been to the city since the last time he saw it, he still remembered the path through the forest.

I wonder if Reika is still keeping the city in tact... were his thoughts.

Normally, he would like the spark of conversation that Daewyn had tried, but for some odd reason...a foreboding feeling lurked in the back of his head.

Melchoir decided to keep his bearer's thoughts to himself, not wanting the Water bearer to forget the past.

It wouldn't be long until they arrived at the end.

Hmm...we're close.

Having second thoughts?

Yes. But it's too late to turn back.

I guess it's time to face the music.

I just hope they don't do anything to any of the others...I'm the one they want.

They can't have you until the Four Winds have had their way.

That's true. So we have to avoid sight and recognition until then.

Should be fun.

*Took the rear for defensive purposes when the group started out*
Baikasu:How much farther?

Hmm...I haven't been here in a while...but it's close. Someone else may know an ETA.

Naoko quietly paced alongside Baikasu in the back, lost in her own thoughts. Distance was one thing, but she was worried more about how Reika was going to react to their sudden arrival.

Baikasu: Something wrong, Naoko? You seem worried.

"Something wrong, Naoko? You seem worried."

The words drew her out of her thoughts as she turned to look at Baikasu.

"No, it's nothing, really..." she said, trailing off. Realizing that it wasn't enough, she added, "More like a personal grudge that a certain general in Tuvidal has against me, that's all."

"General?" Sion asked from the front. "Huh, that's new. Let me guess...it's Reika Feanor, isn't it?"

Naoko remained silent, while Daewyn, curious, ran up to catch to the Water bearer.

"Reika Feanor? Who's she?"

"I've heard of her..." Bryce softly murmured. "She's known as one of Tuvidal's most famous general-mages in all of Tuvidal's history -- even more powerful than the Four Winds of Tuvidal. Was adopted by a local wealthy family as a servant girl before moving up in the social ranks to the army."

His eyes glanced towards Naoko. "But what does she have to do with you?"

She smiled underneath her hood. "She's more related to me than you can ever think of."

"She's a damn pyro, if you ask me," Sion said, relaxing a bit by folding his arms behind his head. "I met her back in the old days when I was still in Demetria. All the guys wanted to go after her, but she'd never let them. Burned a couple of them to death a few times if they got too close."

"She sounds scary, if you ask me," Phey commented.

"She's not frightening," Naoko told her. "She's more...overly-energetic. Sorta like Layla in a way."

"Layla? Is that the girl we met before in Halconia?" Shuichi asked.

Naoko nodded, a small movement from underneath the obscuring cloak she wore.

"You know...I wonder...why are we going after her, anyway?" Nida (OOC: I think she's with us...) asked, full of suspicion. "Xachta says that you're not saying the complete truth to us."

Hmm...seems she's back to normal... Naoko thought, eyes darting at the Poison bearer.

"She possesses something that's been inside of her ever since she was born," she told everyone. For some odd reason, she was willing to give out this information despite Daemon's orders. "Halconia forbids it to be spoken as a law."

"Then what is this 'it'?"

Her crimson eyes brimmed with sadness. "You'll find out when we reach the city."

Bryce's mind thought long and hard about Reika.

Hmm...she was there when I was banished. I'm having trouble remembering exactly what part she played...

Yes. She was there. I believe she was on the jury that convicted you.

Ah yes. Let's hope she doesn't hold too much a grudge against me.

You have changed a bit, haven't you?

We'll see what she thinks.

*Stands guard as the Imp and Girl sleep, hoping that the creatures don't attack. She uses the makeshift explosives, nails, an various containers to make claymore imitations, placing them around the openings with strings leading back so she can trigger them if needed.*

*Whether it was her recent search for her family or just general attentiveness, something in Naoko's phrase "She's more related to me than you can ever think of," caught the girl's attention. When everyone had fallen back to thoughtful silence or broken up to talk in smaller groups, Daewyn walked up quietly next to Naoko and touched her arm gently.*

Naoko? You seem sad... and I was wondering... how is this lady related to you?

Naoko slightly turned her head to Daewyn, face still obscured by the hood.

"She used to live in Melbane a long time ago," she told her in a quiet voice. "Until the city was destroyed. Like myself, she is one of the few who survived the massacre."

Seeing that the information wasn't enough, she also added, "She's the Mistress of Fire. A distant cousin of mine."

*Daewyn's face scrunched up as she puzzled this new bit of information.*

Mistress of Fire? But I thought Phey had the fire amulet... I don't understand. How can there be two fire people?

Baikasu:My guess is that there's a mistress for each element. One can control the element with barely any effort, and one that bears the amulet. Thisbis what I'm guessing, though.*waits until after he gets a response*Anyway, from the tone of your voice, it seems that you two don't get along very well.

NPCing Tanasha:

Just as she thought, these things were smarter than they looked. The winged creatures were circling above them, out of her range of the explosives. Taking out her gun, Tanasha nudged the girl and Imp awake.

"Hey, you two, get up, we got company."

Naoko quietly listened to Baikasu's explaination before answering,

"Well...it's something like that. Remember Kato, Daewyn? He was Master of Earth, and my brother is Master of Wind. In Melbane, there is a council of people who possess the power of each of the elements naturally. The elders appoint status to these people according to their element. After that, these people are organized into a council whenever a crisis arrives that might endanger the ancient past and the current present."

"So...wait, I remember those dragons call you 'Mistress' in Halconia," Baikasu interrupted. "So...that means you're a part of this council or whatever?"

"But how is it different from being an amulet bearer?" Daewyn added.

Naoko inwardly sighed, knowing that this question was a bit harder to explain.

"Yes, I am a part of this council. Only those born in Melbane either possess the ability to receive these elemental powers or naturally have them. We're different from amulet bearers for the fact that we can actually use our element without the aid of a guardian spirit...." she continued on. "Although, yes, I am a bit different from this because I'm both amulet bearer and Mistress of Void so I can use both Daemon's and my own natural powers to call on the Void. This...puts me at head of the council."

Though I don't like it much.

"So...your cousin's a part of the council, too? That's why she's a Mistress of Fire?" Daewyn asked.

"She can wield fire naturally and float in the air using it, although not as good as my brother can," Naoko replied.

"From the tone of your voice, it seems that you two don't get along very well," Baikasu noted.

Naoko frowned. "Like I said before...she's....very energetic. And she can get angry very easily."

"Opposite personalities...hmm, makes sense," he said, though not totally believing that she was saying the truth.

"Hey, we're here!" came Sion's voice from the front.

They entered through the clearing of the forest, and not far from them stood the proud yet burned gates of Tuvidal.

*Daewyn stood staring at the charred gates, a stupified expression written all over her face. She had been so engaged in conversation with the others that she hadn't been listening to the earth, but now standing so close to the site of the destruction she could feel it screaming so hard it made her body shake involuntarily. She hugged her middle tightly to try and calm the shuddering of her frame as she shakily walked closer, trance-like to the gates of the city.*

"N...n...no....."
PostPosted: Fri Apr 15, 2005 8:11 pm

Oh...wow. I'm here again.

Tuvidal...

"We're here!"
*Baikasu sees the smoke from the fires.*
Baikasu:Oh, they better not have...
*Running towards the gate, Baikasu looks at the receently destroyed city, as his fists begin to start shaking.*
Baikasu:Those bastards... they've destroyed yet another city ful of innocent people... those little ******** are going to pay for what they've done! As soon as we catch up with them, I'm not going to give them the pleasure of death!

"Wait a second, Baikasu," Naoko told him as she caught up. "Listen."

Not far away, they could hear sounds of fighting.

"They've only begun attacking," she said.

"Well, then, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Sion shouted, disappearing. He was eager for a battle.

*Sion disappeares into the flaming city.*
*Baikasu puts his sword away and takes out his M4A1.*
Baikasu:Good. At least not everyone's dead! I'm going in! *re-opens gate, which swung closed after Sion went through.* Time for some anger-management, Bitches!
*Runs in, readying a huge-a** ball of lightning.*
Screw the physical pain... Emotional pain's much, much worse!

You may have abandoned me, Tuvidal, but I will not abandon you.

Let's go, Daewyn. Hurry!

*They head off into the city, weapons drawn.*

*Daewyn snaps out of it and nods*

Right, Bryce! I'm earth-diving, I'll be right under you.

*With that said she sunk into the earth and began to swim rapidly underneath it, all the while feeling for the locations of the people in the battle ahead. She tried hard to concentrate, it felt like the earth was screaming at her to do something*

Daewyn?

Man...I don't think I'll ever get used to her disappearing like that. Oh well.

*Bryce walked up to the gates of the city.*

Here goes nothing. Hope you're keeping up, Daewyn!

*With that, he stepped into Tuvidal, into the chaos of battle.*

*Daewyn could finally sense the source of the earth's pain... a dark energy radiating from the center of the battle. She could also make out monstrous creatures of many various sizes, a good majority of them of a fire-based species from the charred ground. She could definately sense one of those dragon things they fought in the first temple. Daewyn took a quick toll of all she could sense before popping up out of the ground next to Bryce, hurtling a boulder at a nearby fire demon on her way up.*

Bryce! There's a dragon! And some sort of horrible monster in the center is making the earth angry and black!

*Daewyn involuntarily shuddered, then ducked halfway back down into the earth as a bomb came hurtling over her head. Then, harnessing the anger and energy of the earth, she shot clear of the ground, her retractable blade springing from the grieve on her wrist. She thrust her arm into the air and stabbed deep into the bomb, then flung it back down towards the earth and onto a small imp where it exploded, leaving a small crater in the earth. Daewyn landed near Bryce, sinking halfway down into the ground again, and said a mental apology to the earth for the destruction the bomb had caused.*

"Wait a minute, Sion!"

Naoko grabbed the water bearer's cloak one second too late and she cursed to herself.

That idiot's going to get himself killed if he keeps on going off like this...

Ah, he takes after Melchoir...

If it weren't for her quick eyes, she would have been nearly severed in half by an incoming fire demon. Naoko quickly drew out Shinken, slicing the creature to where it belonged. They had just barely made it past the gates and there was already attack.

"Hey, how many of these things are there??" Phey shouted, shooting away at more demons racing towards her direction.

Naoko let her Void eyes take over, scanning over the situation.

Fifty...no...wait... she thought, leaping out of the way to cast a combustion spell on a dragon that had begun charging in their direction. One hundred?

Fifteen hundred, to be exact. You can't see them all from here. Daemon told her.

"Fifteen hundred?!?"

Shuichi ducked underneath the belly of the dragon, taking out his book, and casting another combustion spell to add to the effect Naoko caused it. It howled in pain, bending down to try to strike at the small nuisance underneath it. He rolled out of the way into a small trench that had been dug in by the dragon.

"What was that again, Naoko?" he shouted.

"Daemon says that there is fifteen hundred around," she replied, casting Float. But on such a large city as Tuvidal? That's too small...

"Well, ain't that lovely," Baikasu muttered under his breath, calling upon Macnor to make him move a little bit faster.

Naoko cast one more Blizzaga spell on the dragon before it finally succumbed to the assault. She looked around frantically, wondering where Bryce and Daewyn had run off to. She spotted Bryce not far from where they left off, only about two or three blocks away. The channel of energy underneath the ground she assumed was Daewyn. ((OOC: Note that her eyes are still Void eyes))

Another screech echoed, one that seemed more frightening than the ones that were after them in Lilandre. Naoko's eyes widened. It couldn't be?!?

Baikasu:Fifteen hundred?! ********' A!
*Baikasu, having seen the dragon fall down dead, runs in the direction of Daewyn and Bryuce. While running, a bahemoth runs right into his path. The bahemoth turns it's head towards baikasu and roars, then turns the remainder of it's body towards him. Then it readies it's right paw for an attack.*
Baikasu: Eat this, b***h!!
*Baikasu aims and fires the huge-a** ball of lightning at the bahemoth. It hit's it's chest, and unstantly the electrical surge sends the creature into muscle spasms as the lightning finishes cooking the bahemoth's torso. The charred corpse then falls to the ground.*
*Baikasu, pianed by his use of his powers, falls to a kneeling position.*
Baikasu:Gonna take *ow* more than that!
*Takes a swig of his homemade potion, then stands up, revitalized.*
Baikasu:Much better... *goes back to Naoko and the others* Well, now what the ******** we gonna do?! We can't kill 'em all!

There are monsters everywhere! How many are there?

*Daewyn looked at Bryce and shook her head.*

Well...we'll just have to do our best. Narya, here goes nothing.

I'm ready when you are.

*Bryce bowed his head, and a green wind began to encircle Daewyn and himself. He then looks up.*

Not that you needed that...but I thought a little speed boost would help you out.

*All of a sudden, a large fire creature stepped out of a nearby building.*

Here we go!!

*Bryce surged upward from the ground, drawing his spear in midair.*

Let's do this.

*Bryce's right hand holds the spear aimed toward the creature, while the other faces outward, ready to cast a spell. With a quick bow of his head and close of his eyes, a wind spell shoots from his hand. He then rushes forward, spear in hand, at the creature.*

Time to die.

"Well, now what the ******** we gonna do?! We can't kill 'em all!"

Naoko leaped on top of the roof of one building, looking around again with her heightened senses. That aura...it couldn't be her??

"We have to find whatever's left of Tuvidal's troops," she shouted over the battle.

A huge fireball hurdled itself towards her, but she easily let the Void engulf the flame.

"Oh, s**t!..Wha..hey!" shouted a voice not far from them. "Is that you, black eyes?"

Naoko inwardly sighed, wondering if the gods were cursing her for her bad luck or laughing at her for her "good" timing for the future. A young woman dressed in battle garb approached them. Behind her were troops carrying the Tuvidal symbol.

"Just my luck," she muttered, hopping off the roof and letting her Void eyes disappear.

"Hey, who's that?" Gwyn whispered next to her ((OOC: I'm not sure if he came with us or not...I forget ^^)).

Naoko let a small sigh escape from her lips. "It's nice to see you again, General Reika."

NPC Sion:
He hadn't meant to break away from them, but he knew that these fires couldn't be stopped by normal means. Tuvidal was a small portion in his life, but Sion could never forget the training that he learned from the school. His parents had always said that it was awfully hard to get into it, and he was lucky. For a year, anyway.

The sounds of footsteps echoed behind him, tearing Sion away from his thoughts. This time, he let Melchoir take over, knowing for certain that he couldn't possibly defeat this demon with his guns.

"You're wise, water bearer," the voice echoed above him.

That didn't mean he couldn't use them. Sion drew out the weapons, falling into a defensive posture. This aura wasn't right...it didn't seem...human.

*Gwyn looked at this new arrival with puzzlement.*

Gwyn: General?

*Gwyn heard the bloody infernal roar of a pack of dragons behind them. Gwyn grinned.*

Gwyn: Hey Naoko... I'll let you guys catch up.

*Gwyn gives Naoko a wink.*

Gwyn: Dragons, my specialty.

*Gwyn walked away from Naoko and Reika with a grin. He quickly assessed the situation. Four Ruby Dragons.... a tough battle... but not too bad.*

Gwyn: Hey guys, why the hell are you doing all this? Noble dragons like you shouldn't be used so easily.

*Gwyn said this in the tounge of dragons. All he got in reply, however, was a roar and a blast of fire from what seemed to be the toughest of the four.*

Gwyn: Whoa, we have a live one! Well, sorry to say this boys, but you're screwed!

*Gwyn grinned as he rushed towards them. The boss dragon used his draconic reflexes and smashed at Gwyn with his barbed tail. Gwyn simply took to the air and dived at one of the smaller ones. He easily broke the dragon's scales, but could not pierce all the way through to the fiery heart. This dragon screamed with a fiery rage as the others heaved back their breathe, preparing to fire. Gwyn tugged at my sword, but it would not come free. A dragon's scales were a true marvel! Gwyn looked desperately for a way out, not wanting to leave behind his sword. This all happened in a matter of seconds. The Ruby dragons blasted fire at Gwyn, and he used what little brains he had, mixed with blind luck and chance skill, and used his mind powers to cast a Shell on himself, significantly reducing the power of their attack. Using the adreniline rush of the fire around his body, Gwyn managed to yank his sword free. Then he was really fired up. The Ruby Dragon he was standing on didn't seem too docile either. Gwyn brought his sword heavily down on the dragon's neck, severing it off. Hot red blood flowed from the hewn neck. Seeing this death of their comrade angered the other Dragons even more. They were ready for a real fight. Gwyn was more than eager to give it to them.*

Naoko watched Gwyn walk away from them towards the dragon with a tinge of confusion on her face. His specialty? Hmm...well, I guess so, with Caranar and all...

Personally, she was glad that the dragoon was able to divert her attention away from the slight anger she was receiving from Reika. The Mistress of Fire's eyes were burning with the emotion as she scanned amongst the group. Her soldiers' faces were weary yet determined.

NPC Reika:
Reika watched Gwyn fight the dragons with curiosity written all over her face. She had locked eyes with the leader of the Council of Elements for a split second, but quickly looked past Naoko to see what was up. A deep grudge against the Mistress of Void still lingered and seeing even more people with her did not ease this grudge.

"Ah, well, they're mad," she muttered as the other Ruby dragons around Gwyn roared.

She contemplated on helping Gwyn but decided against it as she saw him jump back and forth between the other dragons with ease. The remaining others decided to help as well, implementing their skills in both battle and elemental amulet powers to the fullest.

"General, we don't have much time," her second lieutenant whispered in her ear.

"I know," she murmured back. There was still much left to do. Finding the first archangel of Nekleska was one of them.

Naoko, too, watched the others jump into the battle to aid Gwyn, deciding to remain behind to listen to Reika's conversation with one of her soldiers.

"What do you mean time? I'm surprised that Tuvidal has made it this far," she replied, turning back towards Reika.

The Mistress of Fire frowned, a spark of a flame emitting from her hands for a split second --- a habit of hers whenver she was frustrated or angry.

"What the hell are you doing here?" she hissed. "It's your guys' fault for getting the city into this mess."

Naoko arched a curious eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

Reika waved her arm towards the flames and falling buildings. "If it wasn't for the girl getting taken away from Halconia's refuge, then Dante would have never dared call upon the darkness of hell to destroy Tuvidal."

Naoko's eyes narrowed, and in her mind, Daemon nodded in agreement at her conclusion.

"So, they're here, then..."

NPC Sion:
Ah, damn, it was just his bad luck. Sion ducked behind a random building, avoiding the woman's long range dark fire by a mere split second. He fired back with his guns, but it proved to be futile.

Ryden's lips gave way to a cruel smile. This was a game of cat and mouse, and she was the cat.

"You aren't going to defeat me that easily, my dear water bearer," she purred, taking slow yet threatening steps towards the building. Her hands were gathering more power from her endless source, enjoying the moments of rebirth.

Sion made his way into the building and hid behind a large staircase, trying to figure out his way out of this mess. It had been a while since he'd been in such a dangerous situation as this. He had to calm down, focus.

Strategy was his best skill, after all.

Melchoir, can you tell me who the HELL this lady is??

The water guardian paused for a brief moment before hesitatingly replying, Ryden the archangel. One of the four guardians to Nekleska temple.

Sion held his breath, switching the type of bullets in his gun in the process. Yes, and that helps me much, thank you.

She was sealed away during the final battle, costing Xachta's life back then, he slowly continued. A woman of great power....and evil.

*With a jolt, Bryce lunged forward, wind whipping, at the creature. As the spear sunk into its skin, a cry of anguish was let out. It quickly collapsed to the earth after Bryce pulled away.*

Ugh. So many others...How long is this supposed to last?

*Bryce looked over toward Daewyn.*

What should we do now?

*10 minutes prior to the Ruby Dragons showing up, Baikasu finishes off another spooning bomb.*
Baikasu:I'm heading over towards the Residential area!
*Baikasu then make his way towards the said area, after taking out a bomb and two fangs, and dodging the occational wyrms.*
Seems quieter than the ther areas. Let's see if anone's alive here.
*Baikasu walks up th front steps of a close-by house that wasn't in flames. As he reached the door, it was bashed through by an entity on the other side. Started, Baikasu jumps bakwards, and looks at the being.*
Baikasu:...
...
...
... <********.
*It was an undead civilian. It started walking slowely toward him, ntent on eating him. Baikasu drew out Kasiko and charged it.*
Baikasu:I ******** hate the undead. Time for you lil' ******** to die!... again! b***h!
*Baikasu Charges and cleaves the zombie in two, length-wise. After both halves fall to the ground, the body halves start trying to crawl towards him.*
Baikasu:Oh, come on! I cut your head in two! You should not be doing that! ********' A!
*Baikasu cuts both halves in two and then use his lightning abilities on the remaining pieces.*
Take THAT, b***h!
*The bone-charred remaines start twitching, trying to move toward him again.*
Baikasu:...
...
...I'm going to run that way now.*Then starts running in the direction he was allready going.*
Are you sure it's WISE to let the undead roam free?
I couldn't get it to stop. I'm thinking that Daewyn will have better luck, since she could encase it in bedrock.
Hmm. Good point.
*5 minutes later, Baikasu dodges some high-powered stream of water that was fired at him*
Baikasu:What the ********?!
*He turns to look at his assailant.*

"General Reika, we must get going," a soldier suggested to his superior.

Reika's green eyes glanced at her soldier, and then at Naoko. Impatience and hesitancy was written all over her eyes.

"Can I trust you to take care of this lower sector of the city?" she asked, albeit rather reluctantly.

"I don't think that should be a problem," Naoko calmly replied back, calling upon the Void once again to her aid.

"Fine, then once you're finished, head to the crystal hall," Reika told her and left with her soldiers following.

~~~~
"Ah, what the hell?!? Do these things just like coming at us or something?" Phey shouted, gracefully flipping backwards to avoid a tail.
They had defeated most of the Ruby Dragons that crawled about, but once one had come down, more came. And it wasn't just dragons, either.
"Where's Naoko when we need her...time travel thing?" Shuuichi muttered, flipping open his book and quickly casting a Blind spell.
Gwyn had just finished off a Dark Dragon, slightly out of breath, when red eyes appeared behind him. Daewyn, still in her earthen shell, shouted,
"Gwyn, behind you!"
But before the dragoon could strike, another shadow, much darker than this creature's own, began to surround and engulf it into abyss. Naoko shook off the blood that splattered across her cloak, pulling the hood back and smiling.
"Sorry to keep you guys waiting...I've been asked that we clear this sector out."
That's probably a good idea, Naoko. There's just too many creatures here to handle in such a small area.
*He glanced around at the fiends running through the buildings, corpses everywhere, and his exhausted allies.*
Where to, then?
*Gwyn drops to his knees and pants, trying to catch his breath. He has a burn marks on him, as well as several cuts that are bleeding somewhat. Gwyn looks up to Naoko with a grim but weak smile.*
Gwyn: Hey... thanks... I would have been history if it hadn't been for you... It pains me that all these noble creatures are being so reckless... something is driving them to madness... but I would rather see them dead than killing the innocent.
*Gwyn winces holding his sholder.*
Gwyn: Hey... could someone heal me here? My wounds aren't that serious, but I could use some help.
*Gwyn winces again, this time holding his knee.*
Gwyn: I hate being helpless...
Naoko walked over to Gwyn and knelt down, holding out a hand. She softly whispered the words of a Cure spell in her native tongue, a soft glowing light outreaching from her fingertips.
The minor wounds on Gwyn's body began to heal itself.
"There," she said, finishing the spell. "That should help a bit."
They both stood up. Gwyn rotated his limbs around, amazed that the pain he had felt before was gone.
"Thanks," he said.
"No problem," Naoko smiled. "Just be careful next time."
You should also be careful as well, child, Daemon whispered in her mind.
I know.
More unhuman cries echoed elsewhere nearby them. Naoko's eyes were touched with a bit of concern before she turned back to look at her comrades. They all looked a bit exhausted, with the exception of Daewyn who kept herself hidden underneath the earth.
"I think we should at least split up into two teams," she suggested. "It should be easier and faster that way to clear this area. But don't head out too far, maybe at least two or three blocks at least. After it's clear, we'll meet back here and then head together to that crystal building over there."
She pointed to a large, diamond-like building far from where they were. The statue of Tuvidal's first elected minister stood proudly beneath the ravaging fires that raged about.
"That's...pretty far, if you ask me," Shuichi muttered.
"But what about Sion and Baikasu and everyone else that's not here?" Daewyn's voice echoed underneath them. "Don't we have to relay the message to them, too?"
"I have a feeling that we'll run into them somewhere," she softly replied. "But if you do find them, relay the message."
She shook her head free from any other doubts that lingered, continuing on. "Two more people should go with Bryce, since he's been in Tuvidal before. Two others should come with me to clear out this area here."
"Wouldn't it be easier for us to all split up?" Gwyn suggested.
Naoko shook her head. "No, it's too dangerous. These creatures around here are being controlled by someone much more powerful than us out of fear. It already takes three or four of us to take on two dragons or more no matter how much experience we've had against them. These aren't your normal dragons. They won't understand their own tongue, nor will they hear out what you say. Plus, with the exception of myself and Daewyn, we've pretty much spent most of our energy. We don't have that many reserves left, either, to heal, and the way to that crystal building is tough, especially if more enemies come to attack."
She didn't need to mention that the directions that the two teams were going were also heading in the directions where Baikasu and Sion had disappeared to.
"So, what'll it be? We have to decide quickly."
NPC Sion:
"Well, that's just great, and she just happened to attack me," the water bearer muttered to his guardian.
He glanced over to a water pipe near him and the building that it inhabited. An idea was beginning to form in his mind. Maybe, just maybe...
"You can't hide forever," the sickly sweet voice of Ryden echoed in the street.
Yeah, like I plan to, lady, he thought, putting away his weapons and began concentrating on the pipe.
You're kidding me, aren't you? Melchoir said to him, knowing exactly what the water bearer was thinking.
Hey, if that fire can put out a normal water spell, Sion argued. Then how much can her energy take out a barrage of Blizzaga Wall?
Very easily, idiot.
Well, you aren't any help, old man!
A pause. Then use me.
Sion's concentration wavered for a second. What?
Sion couldn't see it, but he could tell that his guardian was shaking his head. Never mind what, use me. Concentrate on extracting myself out of this rock and I'll use your body as a medium.
He hesitated for a second. ...You could do that?
Of course I can. I'm not dead for anything, you know.
Adding in new enemy for Baikasu:
"Hmph, what do we have here?" a raspy voice shouted from above him. "Another straggler?"
Baikasu looked up, clenching his teeth. "The hell are you?!?"
The seemingly old man standing on top of a roof above him grinned sinisterly, thin bone hand still outstreched. Wispy navy blue hair (or what little of it was left) clung desperately on his head. Most of his facial features were covered with a black hood, much similar to Naoko's. The only feature that stood out to Baikasu was the lack of color in this enemy's eyes.
"Didn't think you'd dodge that so easily," the old man croaked. "You're pretty good for a kid."
Fine with me. I know how to get there...even though it's been a while. It's funny how majestic it looks in the midst of all this chaos...anyways, who's coming along with me?
Here it goes. Let's see if Tuvidal can stand up against all this.
*Sleeps as the Imp keeps watch, waiting for the monsters to attack their fortified inn...*
*Gwyn takes out his sword and does a few minor 30 ft practice jumps*
Gwyn: Alright, I seem to be in working order.
*Gwyn thinks a bit.*
Gwyn: I'll go with Naoko, if thats alright. I'd like to pay her back for helping me.
*Gwyn winks at Naoko*
Gwyn: Don't worry Naoko, I'll watch your back.
Faerie NPC:
The fae only had a limited of time left to find the remaining member of her master's group. Its spell wouldn't last much longer, and it had mistaken many times the Fate bearer only to be one of the few survivors of the town.
As it flew to around to make one last look before it would disappear, it stopped, sensing the presence of the Fate bearer's guardian nearby. It frantically looked around before coming to a halt some distance away from an inn. The flying demons that had been coming towards her master before were now circling around the inn as if trying to find a way into the now makeshift fortress.
Determined as ever, the fae dove straight towards the inn, hoping to find some sort of crack to sneak into without gaining any suspicion by the flying creatures.
It had to get its mission completed.
"I'll go with Bryce," Daewyn's voice replied below. "I can heal anybody who might get injured."
Nida calmly watched as the others chose their sides before she was the only one left. Daewyn, Bryce, and Shuichi were one team. Naoko, Gwyn, and Phey on the other.
She was the only one left.
She sighed, "Well, it doesn't matter to me."
Naoko smiled at the dancer, knowing quite well that Xachta had not yet undergone the influence just yet. "Then you'll come with us. Poison works best against imps and most other creatures."
Another cry echoed. Naoko inwardly winced, wondering if any of the others would be deaf sooner or later because of all the noise. "And I think Sion headed this way, anyway."
She gave one last look to each person. "Alright, let's go."
NPC Ryden:
Ryden calmly walked into the home, her amber eyes glancing towards each and every broken room. Her velvet sash tied around her waist rubbed against the floor as she mentally summoned up another forbidden spell, ready for attack at any moment.
This was amusing. She hadn't had this much fun since she was sealed away within that horror of a statue one thousand years before.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are," she purred, smiling.
NPC Sion:
Sion gritted his teeth as his body involuntarily convulsed as his guardian entered his body. A cold sensation swept over him and then....nothing.
When he opened his eyes, Melchoir took in a deep breath of air. He tested out his bearer's body, flexing his arms and then pausing to look with his renewed enhanced eyesight. He smiled.
It had been a long time since he could see the world with his own eyes.
Okay then. We'll take the Eastern Road around the edge of the city. You can take the Western Road, and we'll meet up at the Crystal Spire near the statue of Minister Keika. Naoko, I trust you know how to get there, but if you get lost, contact me through Narya.
*He turns to Shuichi and Daewyn*
Ready guys? Let's head out.
*The three of them break off and begin to head East toward the road. The smoke is rising from buildings nearby and monsters can be heard walking around.*
This should be interesting...
*Daewyn felt ahead through the earth, drawing strength from the bedrock surrounding her. She also drew information of what was occuring on the earth's surface, very interesting information indeed.
Emerging from the earth, Daewyn stopped Shuichi and Bryce and leveled a serious look rather foreign to her countenence.*
"There's a trap just past that thicket of trees there... large claws and heavy iron boots. We need to be careful, they're expecting us... I don't know how they figured it out but they know. What should we do?"
*She looked up at Bryce expectantly, the childish certainty that he knew what to do written all over her face.*
Hmm...We can come up with something good. We all have our elements, right? And yours and mine are very affective at sneaking up on people. Plus, Shuichi has the time element. This is gonna be awesome.
Here's the Plan: Daewyn, go underneath and wait for my signal through Narya. I'll go above and hide behind the trees. Shuichi, when we get into position, you stop time long enough for us to get in without notice, then we'll start a barrage of earth and wind attacks. That should be pretty easy, especially if you can manage to slow him down a bit, Shuichi. Sound good to you?
PostPosted: Sun Apr 24, 2005 10:47 am
*Daewyn flashes a grin at Bryce*
You've got it, Bry!
*She kicks off the ground and dives headfirst into the earth, then subtly she slides her way underneath the ambush and slowly, barely perceptible really, loosens the connections between the molecules of the ground beneath the monsters' feet. As she was doing this she noticed that the strange, dark presence was once again nearby, not directly above her, but there could be no doubt that whoever or whatever that feeling was coming from was involved in this little skirmish somehow. Daewyn bit her lip and focused harder, trying her best to remain unnoticed.*
Naoko rubbed her temples as her group scrambled around their current area. A few lurkers still roamed about, and it didn't help that she was getting this foreboding feeling in the pit of of her stomach. She was wondering if the others, too, had felt the dark presence as they dodged out of the way of a tail that had suddenly come out of nowhere.
Or maybe she thought it was out of nowhere, as the others were on full alert.
"Damn, another one?" she heard Gwyn curse.
"Whoo-hoo, this'll be easy!" Phey shouted enthusiastically, flipping back as she unholstered her guns. "Let me handle this guys; I think I'm getting the hang of this fire thing."
Her body held a strange red glow, before shooting out bullets of fire. It hit the creature perfectly, engulfing it in a fireball of death. The others couldn't help but hesitantly step away from the fox girl at the moment but their attention was turned back to more creatures that had been alerted by the fire.
Naoko quickly unsheathed Shinken, holding a stance similar to those of the sword dancers of old. With the foreboding pushed aside, a faint smile played upon her lips.
"I guess we hit the jackpot."
NPC Ryden:
Ryden danced in the ruined streets, eagerly awaiting for her prey to run out. It had been a long time since she was kept under the Halconians' seal, and she was eager to feast more on the screams of the dying. Especially from one who was fated to be an amulet bearer.
She quickly moved away from a burst of ice that had arose from the ground. She arched an eyebrow, wondering where this new aura was coming from.
"You don't seem to have learned your lesson one bit," came Melchoir's rasped voice. "Or do I have to cast that spell a second time?"
She could see a dark form appearing, no coming out of, the wall of a large building nearby. Pale skin met white hair and a deep ocean of blue stared back at her own catlike golden amber.
Ryden only smiled. "
Hmph, using your bearer as a medium? I'm not the one who's foolish, am I now?"
NPC Sion/Melchoir:
Holy Hyne in hell, I can do that?!? echoed Sion's voice in Melchoir's realm.
Just shut up and be quiet, Sion. I'll take your abilities to their full extent. his guardian mentally grumbled back.
But shiiieet....I can do that?
Of course you can, you just have never been taught correctly about manipulating the water.
One bearer conversation with a guardian...no sooner did Melchoir wish that he had never done this.
Baikasu: Who the hell are you?!
Old Man: Didn't Think you'd dodge that so easily," the old man croaked."You're pretty good for a kid."
Baikasu: Who are you, and what do you want with me?!
Bushido: I am Bushido, Ice Fiend. I am one of the four elemental fiends come to take our revenge on the kin of those who imprisoned us for a millenia!
Baikasu: Ice Fiend, huh? That looked like water to me.
Bushido: Quiet, you insolent fool! Water, Ice, the only differance is the temperature.
Baikasu: The difference is that it's hard to crrush someone with a liquid, and near impossible with a gas. Now who's the insolent fool?
*Readies Kasiko and charges the blade with elemental powers.*
Bushido: You seem like you have quite a large mouth, don't you? Then you must be Macnor's Bearer! That cocky b*****d, by some fluke, defeated me! Your death will make that millenia trapped in a living hell all the more worthwhile!
*Bushido jumps down and raises his hand, pointing his index finger. A large icicle is shot from the tip of the finger, aimed at Baikasu's chest. Baikasu evades the attack and charges at Bushido.*
Baikasu:Take this!
*Gwyn looked on as Phey unleashed on the creature.*
Gwyn: Wow... Phey's power is getting stronger. Impressive...
*Gwyn leans over to Naoko*
Gwyn: Hey Naoko... what should we do? Do you think we can take them all on at once?
*Bushido teleports out of the way right as Baikasu is about to thrust his sword into his enemy's chest. He then countered with a blow to the legs from a staff he was carrying. Baikasu then, having tripped, falls down.*
Bushido: Your sword is useless now, Macnor.
Baikasu: Hmph. Not bad for a several thousand-year-old geezer. *Gets up while saying this, then puts Kasiko in his left hand, and puts his right hand on his pistol.*[His actions are done while saying this.]
Bushido: Didn't your mother ever tell you to respect your elders?!*He bashes Baikasu in the face with the staff and fires a icicle at him, which misses.*
Baikasu:*Does a rolling dive out of the path of the icicle, pulls out his pistol and fires a shot at Bushido, hitting him in the hand with the staff.* Why don't you just die allready like all the other ********?
Macnor, could you ask Phey's Guardian to relay this messege to her?:
This is Baikasu. Hey, um, you'd better go to the Residential damn fast. There's walking dead all over the place, and fire usually does them in really well.
I'll do what I can.
*Bryce floats up quietly above the monsters, trying his best to remain unnoticed*
Alright. Narya, give Shuichi the signal so Daewyn and I can begin.
Gotcha. ...Auubi? Tell your bearer to have at it.
*Daewyn gathered control of the earth around the would-be ambushers and waited, swallowing back the lump of nervousness in her throat.*
Is it time yet Terra? *she asked impatiently.*
Not quite yet child, just sit still. It will be time soon enough.
*Daewyn heaved a sigh and resumed her focus on the party above her*
A swarm of monsters began to surround them, covered with blind rage and deceit.
"Hey, Naoko..." Gwyn whispered in her ear. "What should we do? Do you think we can take them all at once?"
Naoko smiled. "Well, we'll see, won't we? These are creatures who have been influenced by dark magic, however. Don't let that underestimate them."
And with that, she charged at once side of the flank while Gywn, Nida, and Phey began their assault at the other three sections.
*Gwyn just grins at Naoko's comment.*
Gwyn: Yeah, don't worry, I won't get carried away...
*Gwyn jumped into the air, taking the flank of their opponents while the other three focused on their parts. Gwyn rushed in, taking out a few imps with his sword before they noticed him. Their death shrieks attracted the attention of a Behemoth and a Black Dragon. They both turn around and glare at Gwyn with a look of fury in their eyes.*
Gwyn: Hahahahahaha! So, you want a piece of me, huh? Bring it!
*Gwyn focuses his powers and casts a Wall spell on himself, knowing that with Behemoths and Dragons you can expect both a pounding and a nuking. The two run at him, shaking the very ground in their wake, and crushing a few Imps as well. The Behemoth was the first one to reach him. It brought its head back and slammed in, trying to crush Gwyn with it's horns. Gwyn jumped up out of the way before it hit, however, and slammed his sword down on the back of it's neck. The Behemoth let out a bellow of pain at this attack. The Dragon took the chance to attack Gwyn while he was distracted, bringing its claws down at him. Gwyn slashed by one of them, but the protective spell he had cast lessened the blow. The claws also hit the Behemoth right next to the spot that Gwyn had attacked. Gwyn jumped back away from the two beasts, panting a bit. The Behemoth roared and began to glow a black color. All of a sudden an inferno erupted around Gwyn. Gwyn winced and fell to one knee, while the two began to charge towards him.*
Gwyn: I need a plan... or else I'm a goner.
*It was just then that a bomb rushed towards Gwyn, getting larger and larger by the second.*
Gwyn: Its gonna blow!!!
*Gwyn got an idea looking at his present situation. The three monster rushing at him were closing in fast, but the Bomb was ahead of the other two.*
Gwyn: If I pull it off right... yeah I can do it!
*By this time the bomb was larger than Gwyn and only 10 yards away. Gwyn focused his mental powers, and raised his hands up towards the bomb. The bomb stopped for a second, and then was hurtled towards the Black Dragon and the Behemoth. It couldn't stop its explosion, and blew up right between them. The Behemoth had taken to much abuse, and was ready to expire, while the Dragon looked like it had taken no damage at all. The Behemoth worked up one last surge of power, and then died. Gwyn looked up, and saw meteors hurtling down at him.*
Gwyn: HOLY s**t!!!!!
*Gwyn jumped here and there, dodging most of them. But one last meteor caught him off guard, and hit him in the back. The blow sent Gwyn flying, even with the power of Wall protecting him. Blood began to flow a bit from Gwyn's mouth. The Dragon took this oppurtunity to rush in at Gwyn. Gwyn looked up and saw this, but instead of having a look of fear or frustration, a look of pure anger crossed his face. Gwyn clenched his sword tightly, and let out a bestial howl of rage. A red aura surrounded him as he rushed towards the dragon. The dragon took a step back, startled by this sign of power from what he expected to be easy prey. Gwyn leaped up and brought his sword down on the dragon's back. When he hit, energy exploded, knocking the dragon on its belly. Gwyn leaped up again and hit his neck, then again at his snout, and again at one of his arms, then his leg. Gwyn leaped up one last time, and this time embedded his sword down to the hilt right in the dragon's head. Gwyn jerked his sword out and flung the hot blood off of it. The aura dissapeared, and Gwyn fell down to his knees again, startled.*
Gwyn: Wow... I... I don't know what came over me...
*Gwyn reached into his pouch and got out a healing tonic. He drank the cool liquid, and his wounds began to close as it permeated throughout his body.*
Gwyn: Mmmm, good stuff. Well, no rest for the weary...
*Gwyn jumped up again, this time towards the battle.*
NPC Faerie:
It didn't have much time left in its spell. The fae made a quick turn around the building before deciding on a crack simple enough for it to fit into. It squeezed its way into the building, gasping for air.
Yes, there wasn't much time left.
A simple touch into its senses triggered the fae that the Fate bearer was nearby, and it flew around the interior, hoping that the Fate bearer would see it before the spell would finally reach its limit.
*Catches sight of the glowing thing coming into view. Not knowing what it is, she readies her sword in her good arm in case it does anything sudden or threatening.*
NPC Faerie:
There wasn't that much time left, and the fae wasn't quite sure if the Fate bearer would react right to its reaction if it headed straight towards her and the small group that she had gathered. Instead, it hovered in the same spot, concentrating on relaying the message through a mind spell it still had intact.
A vision of Tuvidal flashed through its mind to send to the Fate bearer, a city of what Naoko was beginning to see through her own.
Naoko gracefully weaved her way through the flank of monsters at her side, taking in what was a familiar way of fighting for her. She flipped over a Chimera that had tried to snap one of its heads back at her, intending to sever a limb, and sliced off one of the heads from behind with such a quickness that it had taken a few seconds for the creature to realize that one of its companions was dead.
She quickly sprinted forward before it could react to the pain, thrusting her weapon deep into its chest. A dull pain seared through the back of her head, and she let Daemon call upon the Void to protect her.
It found them?
Your spell does not have much time left, so it's using its final message through a mind spell to send for the Fate bearer, Daemon explained to her. She is seeing what you are seeing at this moment.
Then can she hear my thoughts?
Possibly. If she focused on the sound of Shinken.
Naoko took a deep breath, bringing her katana before her. Nothing could see her at the moment, and Daemon was seemingly taking care of the rest that had tried to attack the black shadow that had overcome her with his own hands.
Shinken hummed a low sound, glowing its usual iridescent blue.
"Tanasha, if you hear me. Head to Tuvidal. You might have picked up some survivors, so bring them here. The city's not far from Lilandre...maybe only a half day's walk. It'll be easy to recognize it by the arches over its gates, and it'll be easier if someone knows where it is. There's a couple of monsters in the city, so be prepared if they come to attack you. We'll be done here soon enough, so the Crystal Hall is the meeting place."
Such a long message, child, Daemon said. Do you think she's going to get that entire message?
"We'lll just have to wait and see.." she replied, calling back the Void into her body to fight.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 24, 2005 10:52 am
*Gwyn gasped, kneeling to the ground. He had been battling hard for a while now, and was beginning to get weary. The ranks of the enemy was beginning to thin, but there were still some left. Gwyn forced himself up to his feet as an imp rushed towards him with a dagger drawn. Gwyn expertly dodged the attack and countered it in one fluid motion, chopping off the weaklings head. Gwyn quickly searched the battlefied for Naoko. He spotted her on the other side after looking. Gwyn jumped through the air and landed right next to her.*
Gwyn: Hey Naoko... how you holdin up? I'm starting to get a little tired... but I still got some fight left in me.
*Bryce hovered silently behind the trees*
Alright Shuichi. Go for it. Ready Daewyn?
Ready.
Okay. Here goes.
*Shuichi looks to Anubi and closes his eyes. He begins concentrating on slowing down time. The trees rustle slower. The earth shakes more slowly. The clouds move slower. Daewyn and Bryce can feel the world slowing down around them, but they are unaffected.*
This is great, isn't it?
Amazing.
Wow.
*Time goes so slowly it seems as if everything around them has stopped. Even the creatures on the other side of the thicket seem to be mere statues.*
Okay, Daewyn. Now's our chance. Let's take these things out!
Naoko glanced back at Gwyn with Shinken still in hand, before looking back to see how many creatures were left. Nida and Phey continued on their side of the battle, not taking much notice that Gwyn had left for the moment.
Just a few more...
"Tired already, Gwyn?" she grinned. "Oh come on, dragoons should do better than that, shouldn't they?"
NPC Sion:
Melchoir skillfully jumped across the rooftops as Ryden followed, countering every dark fire spell that she had thrown at him. This was going to take much longer than he thought. He considered contacting Daemon about the effects of the possession, but he figured that this battle should let the other amulet bearers take notice.
*Gwyn just laughed at her previous comment.*
Gwyn: Don't worry Naoko, I can still keep going.... its just taking out that Behemoth, Dragon, and the bomb took a lot out of me. I think we should be alright...
*Just as Gwyn was saying these words, his amulet started glowing.*
Kain: Gwyn, be alert.... there is a great danger near.....
*The warning was unnecesary, as Gwyn had just that moment detected the presence of a very strong Dragon nearby. Gwyn whirled around to look at the battlefield. The group of monsters was beginning to thin, and victory was apparently clear. The only oddity about the battlefield was that a blanket of mist was beginning to fill the ground. Gwyn closed his eyes and focused on the battlefield. The power he sensed seemed to emanate from everywhere. Gwyn opened his eyes and turned back to Naoko with a grim look on his face.*
Gwyn: Naoko! We've got to get Nida and Phey over here! This whole battle has been a set-up! Theres a much greater force all around us!
"There's a much greater force all around us!"
Upon hearing his words, Naoko suddenly became aware of the dark aura around them and her eyes narrowed as she took a glance around. The images of the creatures attacking them seemed to wobble, as if...
"...An illusion?" she murmured. Why wasn't I aware of this earlier?
Your brother is bothering your eyes. Be warned that the child is getting closer, Daemon warned her.
...Layla, you mean?
Her conversation was interrupted by flames that shot down from the sky towards them. Naoko's eyes widened.
"Everyone, get down!"
A river of water circled above them just before the flames could reach them, spewing out a mist beyond imagination. The others could feel another aura present, very much like the aura of the water.
"I apologize for that," a voice said from above. "It seems that her target is not just me."
"..Sion?" Phey murmured upon hearing the voice.
"Hah, I guess his voice still picks up instead of mine," the voice laughed.
"Melchoir..." Naoko corrected, her voice as soft as a gentle breeze.
Sion, or rather, Melchoir's figure appeared through the mist, his eyes glowing a dark blue.
"Be prepared bearers, the worst is yet to come," he told them.
And soon enough, another aura became present to them, one much darker than the water guardian's.
"She's here," Naoko murmured, calling out Shinken to her hands.
"Who?" Gwyn asked, looking around. He, like the others, were beginning to see the monsters' images waver.
"Naoko, can you explain what's going on?" Nida asked.
The Mistress of Void remained silent, concentrating on a figure that was leaping closer and closer towards them. The first thing they could make out was red hair, then black robes, and then...
"One of the four guardians to Nekleska Temple, Ryden, is not only a powerful sorceress but a master illusionist as well," Melchoir explained to them as he drew his weapons. "This is why we have been fighting endlessly without fail."
"Then...what about the buildings? The corpses lying all around us?!?" Phey cried out. "Were they just illusions, too??"
The Water guardian looked at Phey with a touch of sadness. "No...unfortunately, they are real. But it wasn't the monsters who destroyed half of Tuvidal."
"...it was my brother and her," Naoko whispered.
"Then how come we didn't know about this?" Nida asked, annoyed. "Xachta didn't say anything to me for once about this...illusion."
"Our opponents are fairly clever in blocking out that fact towards us since like us, they are too spirits," Melchoir replied.
Ah, hell, old man, you don't make ANY sense whatsoever! came a mental response from Sion inside of him.
Shut up and let me talk, Melchoir retorted.
*Gwyn listens with interest at what Melchior is saying. After the old man is finished Gwyn laughs.*
Gwyn: So, Naoko's brother and this woman are responsible eh? Then what are we waiting for? What say we enact some revenge on behalf of the fallen villagers? I mean, they can't rightly take on all of us, can they?
Naoko glanced back at the dragoon. "That's easier said than done, Gwyn. Because Ryden is also a spirit like our amulet guardians, it's not going to be easy to control them."
"But.."
Melchoir, or rather Sion's body, fell to one knee, holding his head in pain before finally shaking off whatever was left of it.
"I...think I got an idea that might work..." Sion replied in a low voice, not quite used to the noise just yet.
"Hey...what happened to the..er..whoever that guy was?" Gwyn asked.
Naoko looked on, quite aware of what Sion had just done. "You couldn't hold the possession much longer, so that's why he went back, right?"
Sion let out a light laugh. "..Something like that."
"Hey, hey, here she comes!" Phey announced, her entire body tensing as Ryden was just only a few seconds away.
The first guardian of Nekleska temple smiled maliciously as she prepared for strike. "
You're mine."
Baikasu:Cough! grgl gurglee cough cough cough!... damn, what's with the *cough cough* w-water in my *cough* lungs?*cough cough*
What th- why am I on the ground? One second I'm fighting Bushido, the next I'm sprawled on the ground, soaking wet with a massive headache.
That'd be from your last attack. Before he subdued you, you severely hurt him with Kasiko carged up. He got you in the left leg pretty bad with an Icicle, I'd suggest tending to the wound before trying to move it.
Why yes, I'm doing quite fine, really. Thank you oh, SO much for asking. Now, where the hell is everyone?
*Baikasu checks on of his pockets. He takes a swig from a flask, puts the flask back into the pocket, then goes for another pocket, taking out alcohol.*
Well, I know that Bryce and Daewyn are nearby.
*Pours alcohol into wound, thus disinfecting it. He then takes a small wad of guaze and puts that over the wound.*
Baikasu: Better.
I'm gonna go look for them, and they damn well better not be maimed, masuled, dead, or otherwise unconcious.
*Stands up, putting most of the weight on his good leg. He slowly adds weight to the wounded leg, to test how badly it would affect action. After it seemed it was in working order, he walks off.*
Baikasu biggrin aewyn! Bryce! Where the HELL are you?!
*Gwyn looks the guardian up and down.*
Gwyn: Well well well.... you really think you can handle us eh? I'd like to see you try... Hell, I could take you on myself. Course I'd rather spend a romantic evening together... but I guess thats out of the picture, isn't it?
*Gwyn just smirks and steps forward, brandishing his sword.*
Gwyn: C'mon lady, fight me. That is, unless you're afraid.
Kain: You really are a very foolish person. Why must you always pick fights with people? I mean really...
Gwyn: Yeah, yeah, spare me the lecture, I've heard it all before... I always find a way out, don't I? So let me deal with this, alright?
Ryden just smiled as she perched herself on a rooftop nearby.
"
Interesting you mortals prove to be," she said, creating a sword of a strange colored fire to fit in her grasp. "I wonder why they chose you to hold their lives?"
Naoko couldn't help but mentally smack herself in the head. Oh well, that's just great...
Then would YOU rather fight her? Daemon taunted.
Daemon....shut up.
"Naoko, isn't it?" Sion asked, taking out his guns. "You think you can use a transportation spell to get to where ever you're going to?"
Naoko blinked in surprise. "...Yes, but..." How did he know?
"I have some knowledge about the people in Melbane," he replied as if he had read her mind. "Or rather...I read a little about them."
He aimed his gun at Ryden. "This guy (OOC: meaning Gwyn) and I will take care of her. It's best for you to find the others right now."
Naoko's crimson eyes narrowed. "Your energy's low. You're in no condition to fight."
"Unlike you, I don't get that fainting reaction when Melchoir takes hold," he explained. "I can't really explain why, but right now I got a plan that might work."
Naoko sighed. The Water bearer seemed a little too determined to persuade her anyway.
"If you say so..." she said, whispering a spell in her native tongue. "Take care of yourselves, you two."
A white circle of light engraved the rooftop they stood on. Nida and Phey looked at each other, dumbfounded, before looking back at the two men before them.
"You guys better come back in one piece, ya hear me?!?" Phey exclaimed, fists clenched. "Or else I'm going to find the next world and kick your a**!"
Gwyn couldn't help but grin. "Don't worry, we'll come back for sure, Phey."
The three disappeared. Gwyn then turned to Sion, asking,
"So? What'd you have in mind?"
Sion smiled. "I'll let Melchoir explain to you."
"
Hmph, it's like taking two birds with one stone," Ryden said, leaping high into the air before plunging her sword down into the rooftop.
Gwyn and Sion had jumped out of the way just in time as the tiles of the roof exploded into pieces.
I hope this works...
Daewyn shot out of the earth the moment time froze, a huge, pointed boulder above her. She readied to throw it at the heavily clawed monster she sensed, but when she actually saw the fiery beast fear caught in her throat, stopping her momentarily. She recovered quickly, however, and landed on the ground, waiting to see what effect her attack would have on the creature. Looking around quickly she noted three short, snarling creatures surrounding her, and saw two more further off.
*After what seemed to be an hour of wandering around in te ruined city, he stops to rest.*
Baikasu: Damned leg. Ah, well. Not like I'm gettin' attacked or anything.
*Baikasu suddenly stops breathing, and slowely looks around, listening for any sounds of newarby movement. A minute passes.*
I can't believe I accually said it. I mean, damn! Hey, Macnor. I've got a request. Could you tell Daemon, Narya and Terra that Baikasu's not dead yet, and that he's wondering where everyone else is? You do have that whole psychic link thing goin', don'tcha?
They're probably preoccupied, but I'll try.
---
*Macnor attempts to contact Narya, Daemon and Terra.*
Daemon? Narya? Terra? You there? We're kinda wondering where all of the other bearers are. We kinda need help. Got a flesh wound and no potions left.
---
Well?
They haven't responded yet. Which means that we should get back to that items shop you saved the old man from earlier for supplies. I think it's safe now. We haven't heard any movement at all since you woke up. Either that, or we look for the, quote "******** whorebag." The choice is yours.
Allright. Damaged items shop it is.
*Bryce notices Daewyn shoot up out of the earth and immediately lunges from the air at the nearest creature.*
Here we go!!
*He drives his spear into its side and then leaps backward, preparing a nice Wind spell.*
Narya? How long is this time thing supposed to last?
Not too much longer...Shuichi should let us know when he's letting up.
Alrighty.
*Bryce concentrates on the spell, letting it increase in power in his hand.*
****
Macnor: Daemon? Narya? Terra? You there? We're kinda wondering where all of the other bearers are. We kinda need help. Got a flesh wound and no potions left.
Narya: If you wish, we are in a thicket of trees just off the Eastern Road. Daewyn, Bryce, and Shuichi are working on a group of creatures in a thicket, so we wouldn't have time to heal you until they're dead. It's up to you whether or not to join us.
****
Shuichi: Well, guys, it's almost up. Ready?
I'm ready whenever you are. They'll have a nice little breeze when they wake up.
*As dawn breaks and the beasts slink off to seek shelter from the light, the wounded warrior checks a crack in the boards to see if it's safe. Seeing nothing inordinately dangerous, she puts in a radio call for medevac for three. After half an hour of waking people up and explaining the mode of transport that will be used, the VTOL arrives and carries them off to the ship for treatment.*
Springing her knives from the grieves on her wrists, she swung them toward the imp on her left. Slicing his throat from both sides in a bloody arcing X, and was about to do the same to the next nearest imp when she saw them begin to move, sluggishly at first but steadily faster. Daewyn heard Shuichi's voice from further back.
Shuichi: Well, guys, it's almost up. Ready?
Daewyn: Ready when you are!
Daewyn reflexively sunk an inch or two into the soil in order to brace herself incase the fiery monster started to come her way.
*Gwyn edges cautiously towards Sion.*
Gwyn: So, Sion is it?... what exactly is this plan of yours?
*Sion laughs and looks to Gwyn with a grin.*
Sion: Well, I figure that my water will be able to do some damage, but I won't be able to cast a good spell if her concentration is on me... so I need you to be fodder for a bit...
*Gwyn stares at Sion with disbelief. The fact that he thinks this plan sucks is written all over his face.*
Gwyn: Ugh... well, no rest for the weary...
*Gwyn jumps up towards Ryden and lands in front of her. He unsheathes his Masamune and gets a sardonic grin on his face.*
Gwyn: So, I guess a dates out of the question is it? Very well then... I'll take you on by myself. Leave the shooter out of this.
*Gwyn gets into a ready position and eyes Ryden, waiting for her to make a move. Sion nods and begins focusing his power slowly, so as not to catch her attention.*
Sion: I can't risk building up my power too fast... I just hope that the dragoon can hold her off long enough.
*Baikasu reaches the southern gate of Tuvidal, on his way to Lilandre.*
Baikasu, change in plans.
What? you finally got a reply?
Yes, I did. Instead of going back to the other town, we should haul a** over to the Eastern Road. Narya and Tera are both there, and given our curent condition I think we'd last longer if you limped on over there.
I guess you're right. So, they say anything else? Like why they're over there?
All they told me was that they were working on a few monsters there, fighting and shouting. You know, the usual stuff.
Good to hear they're not dead, I guess.
*Baikasu starts walking to the Eastern gate.*
One of many downsides to knowing that they're somewhat far away, besides having only you to talk to, is that I miss out on all the action.
I thought you *didn't* like getting your as handed to you?
... That was unecessarily cruel, you know that?.
*Continues limping towards the Eastern Gate.*
*Ten minutes later*
I need to stop blacking out when I get into battles. I always lose track of the rest of the party.
*Macnor sends an electric shock through Baikasu's body.*
That hurt, you a**! What was that for?
Think of it as "making you get used to it." I think you haven't been getting enough practice with your powers. So, I'm going to shock you once every minute when you aren't doing anything, with increasing amounts of voltage.
Oh, is that all? I thought you were just an a*****e, but now I can see that your a sadistic a*****e.
*Macnor shocks Baikasu.*
I try.
*reaches the Eastern gate 5 minutes later*
I hear movement and shouting. That must be them. Time to have some fun!
*Takes out pistol and walks towards the shouts and screams of battle.*
Alright. Let's do this.
*The instant the creatures started moving, Bryce unleashed his attack. The wind spell ripped through the creatures, throwing them in different directions. As soon as they recovered, they began to charge toward the three amulet bearers, enraged at this unwelcome surprise.*
Here they come. Hope you're all ready!
They had disappeared in a bright, white light, leaving Gwyn and Sion to deal with what would have to be their most difficult opponent since Dante.
And when they opened their eyes, they found themselves in a house of mirrors. Or so it seemed like it.
"What the..." Phey couldn't help but mutter.
Naoko glanced around the room, each mirror reflecting her and the other two women's images. She was wary, of course, since the mirrors bent at strange angles, creating figures of them beyond normal proportions.
"Where are we?" Nida asked.
"Crystal Hall," Naoko replied, walking a few steps forward. Something didn't seem right.
NPC Ryden:
Ryden smiled at the dragoon. Or something of a smile. Gwyn couldn't help but just feel the chills running down his spine.
"
Hmph, so we get to play? This will be interesting," she said to him before waving a hand and disappearing in an instant.
"
How long do you think you can withstand my attacks in your condition?" her voice echoed.
Gwyn braced himself. He wasn't expecting her to be this fast.
*As the monsters charged toward the three, each prepared to give them a little taste of amulet coctail.*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

*Bryce took a moment to recover from the spell's drain and thought of his next move.*

You can always run 'em through a couple times with that spear of yours...

This is true. I think I may just do that for a bit.

*He raised his spear over his shoulder with one hand, and put the other out in front, ready to charge the moment a creature came into range.*

NPCing Shuichi:

*Shuichi opened his spellbook, searching for the right kind to use.*

I know it's in here somewhere...where is it?!?!?!

What are you looking for?

Just a good spell Auubi...shouldn't you be getting ready to fight yourself?

I'm ready. Best hurry Shuichi. There coming.

GOT IT!!!

*Spellbook ready, Shuichi closed his eyes and began to conjure the spell he had been searching for.*

This should do the trick quite nicely...

Daewyn sliced through the imp in front of her and looked up at the giant flaming monster in front of her. Diving into the earth again, she emerged behind the Ifrit, three huge stones hovering above her head. She hurled the boulders at the beast's head, one at a time. The attack took it off guard and it fell crashing to the ground. Daewyn swung her hands down and plunged both of her daggers deep into his ankle, the molten blood burning her hands as it splashed over them, resulting in a startled, painful cry escaping her lips. She jumped back from the battle a little and nursed her hands, carefully searching through her bag for something to heal them with.

*Gwyn's heart leapt up into his throat at the raw speed of his opponent. He tried not to let his doubt and fear show up on the surface. He managed to keep from flinching, but couldn't keep the look of mixed admiration and terror out of his eyes.*

"Damn.... I don't know if I can take her... I doubt Sion's magic will be enough to even weaken her, let alone take her down. What am I going to do? An all out attack won't work against her like most enemies. I suppose I'm going to have to use some magic too... but what?"

"Well, flirting with her is definately out of the question, wouldn't you say?? Her main asset is her speed, which greatly outranks your own. If you weren't so beat up, you might be able to match her power, but in your weakened state you don't even have that up on her. You're going to have to rely on teamwork for this one. Keep a close eye on Sion, and once he's ready do everything you can to keep her from dodging his attack. Until then, try to buy some time. Also, I'm pretty sure she'll be aware of your plan before long, if she's not already."

*Gwyn raced this through his head, thinking briefly on the advice of his amulet. He then decided to act.*

"I must admit, you are quite powerful. I'm impressed. Really, I am. But I still think I can take you on my own. Well, I'm never really on my own..."

*A dark grey aura glowed around Gwyn as he charged up a spell with a smirk on his face. As he released it, illusion-clones of himself began racing around Ryden, the real Gwyn with them. More and more began popping up until the count bordered on 30. They weaved in and out around each other.*

"Think you can beat us?! Just try it!"

"Man, I hope this works. If not, I'm going to have to come up with some more tricks."

NPC Sion:
*Sion listened to the two opponents exchange verbal blows back and forth with a grim face. After having viewed the speed of Ryden, he too began to doubt his magic's effectiveness. Nevertheless, he wasn't going to abort the plan unless Gwyn gave the signal, and kept charging up his spell slowly, making sure that no sudden bursts of magical power charged up.*

"Damn! If only I could charge up quicker... no, she'd sense it too soon. I have to take this steadily. I just hope Gwyn can keep her from dodging it."

*Baikasu, still limping from his wound, finally catches sight of Daewyn fighting... something. He then picks up his pace and gets to a tree about 50 yards away from the Frey, watching behind a tree.*
Looks like I've found 'em. Unfortunately, I can't use my pistol, for it might hit an ally.
What about your rifle? Or did you use up your ammo in that fight with Bushido?
Not sure. Lemme check the clip in the gun, then my extra clips...
*Takes his rifle and checks how many rounds are left.*
Two shots left in this clip. That means I have, let's see...
*Checks his other clips.*
Counting the two in the clip in the gun, the bullet in the chamber, AND the last remaining clip, I've got a grand total of 33 rounds. My pistol has around 70 rounds left.
Well, you got all that friggin' ammo for a reason, and it loks like Daewyn could use your help with those Imps.
*Baikasu goes prone and starts aiming his rifle at the frey, looking for a good time to shoot an Imp.*
I know, I know. I just friggin' hate my luck, and I really friggin' hate Imps.

NPCing Shuichi:

*Shuichi powered up the spell to max, then unleashed it on the creatures coming toward him*

Meteor!

*A large spherical object comes hurtling through space and smashes into three of the imps.*

Man...that takes a lot out of you...

Better back off til you regain your strength.

*Two imps come into the trees where Bryce is waiting and charge toward him.*

Ready Narya? Here we go.

*A green light emanates over Bryce as he fights the imps with his spear. The power of wind surrounds him, making him more agile. He stabs one in the arm and spins around to knock the other in the head.*

This is feeling pretty good. We haven't had much action like this lately.

*Bryce jumps up in the air and brings the spear down on the imp knocked to the ground. With a fluid motion, he backflips and kicks the other backward before running it through with the spear.*

Whew.

*More imps, noticing the sounds coming from his direction, come into view.*

Bring it.

NPC Ryden and Sion:
Ryden smiled at the clones. "Hmph, child's play."

Her amber eyes just looked at one and she clicked her fingers, sending her dark fire within her radius, and taking out whatever illusion clones were trying to get within reach of her. She used her speed to confuse them, until she reached the real Gwyn face to face, their noses barely touching.

"
And you call yourself the bearer of that dragoon Kain?" she smirked.

Oh, s**t... Gwyn thought, somewhat paralyzed by her piercing gaze.

"Sylio Dragon!"

And grand water dragon surged through, purging the dark fire, and taking the guardian of Nekleska temple by surprise. She took the full brunt of Sion's spell, swept off of the rooftops and down to the alleyways of Tuvidal's city.

"Whew, just in time," Sion grinned.

Something definately didn't seem right. It was as if the very core of the hall was slowly suffocating from...death. Despair. Darkness.

"Um...this might sound kind of strange," Phey slowly said, trying to pick and choose her words while trying to ignore the intensity of the situation. "But do you two feel kinda...strange? I mean, it's like this place feels haunted or something."

"I'm starting to feel that as well," Nida replied, watching Naoko's back as the Mistress of Void began to feel the mirrors as if something was about to spring out. "Do you have any idea?"

"...It's weird..." Naoko murmured. "This place used to be so...alive. But why..." Why does it feel that we're being watched?

Oddly, there was no response from Daemon.

"Do you think that woman who told you to come here was lying?"

"Reika might not like me, but she wouldn't lie to me," Naoko told her. "You can call this her naivety despite being a general for Tuvidal."

The ground beneath them tremored, and the three women braced themselves. The mirrors seemed to shatter at every angle, screaming for release as the tremors ebbed. Then Naoko realized...

"...can you two talk to your guardians?"

Nida and Phey looked at one another, then at Naoko, coming to her realization.

"Now that you mention it..." Nida said.

"...no," Phey finished.

*Gwyn panted on the ground beside Sion, grinning weakly.*

"Sion... thanks. I don't think I could have stalled her much longer. That last trick was one I've been working on for a while now. That was a powerful bit of magic you did."

*Sion laughed and helped Gwyn up onto his feet.*

"Yeah, you were impressive yourself. I know we're both really tired, but I think we should move on and follow Naoko and the others. I'm not sure how long that spell will keep her out of it, but I'm not going to risk it."

*Gwyn nodded and walked along the path that Naoko and the others, had taken, Sion alongside him.*
