Nopenname Kristall, lots of cravings are actually related to a lack of something in your diet. I think the most interesting thing is that here in the US (you might know, you lived here right?) is that WIC when they give a pregnant woman checks for food items they have like 11 gallons of milk per MONTH on there. I asked about it, and she said "That's how much dairy we expect you to get, you're growing a whole other person with their own personal bones." I too crave icecream when I'm pregnant especially soft serve. Just talking about it is giving me the craving for a banana split blizzard. (Yes, I do remember. And, yes, I lived in America until the end of January of this year.) Yes, I often experience that normally, even when I'm not pregnant (cravings meaning that I need something). There have been times in the past when I EXPLICITLY crave a food or beverage.. usually healthy stuff, and so I know there's a reason. (I used to not be able to drink milk; I'm not lactose intollerant, but cows' milk often made my stomach hurt if I wasn't careful.. as well as I couldn't stand the taste.. but, about two or three times a year -sometimes more- I'd get a distinctive craving for a large glass of it -which I'd give in to if we had milk on hand. Other dairy products didn't bother me, just milk in specific.) Soft serve, eh? I've been explicitly craving other types of ice cream. But, I love soft serve too. You can get soft serve almost EVERYWHERE in North Holland (Noord Holland, Nederlands). Nopenname AND about your headaches, you might want to give in a little later, I NEVER got migranes before I was pregnant barely even got little headaches, but the progesterone in your body loosens up ALL your ligaments not just your hips and pelvis so all the ligments in your face and sinuses all loosen up too and can cause KILLER headaches. I used to have to take some tylenol turn off all the lights the air conditioning, EVERYTHING and curled up in a little ball on my bed. I'm just letting you know if you're getting them they COULD get worse. My body didn't deal with Progesterone well...I sprained ankles, and got tennis elbow, and EXCRUCIATING round ligament pain, sciatica, and migranes. Know that if you REALLY need to, you can take tylenol products. I'm doing A LOT better this go around with the ligament pain. Ok, I shall keep that in mind. So far, they've been really minor.. and because of what happened to our roommate, I'm nervous about taking medications. Our roommate was getting terrible bloody noses that worried Rofu and I quite a bit, so we insisted he go to the doctor to get it checked. Apparantly, about three or four weeks ago, he took some aspirin.. and his body had a negative reaction to it.. the doctor told him he should NEVER take aspirin again. Also, the doctor cauterized his veins (had to do it twice), and gave him something to put in his nose at home. So, after seeing that, I was a little freaked out about taking ANYTHING. (I do know Aspirin is a no-no when you're pregnant anyway; but also aspirin never had any effect on my headaches in the past. The only thing that ever worked was to drink water -in case it was from dehydration which I've never had serious problems with- and lay down with the lights off or dim and soothing music -in case it was stress or exhaustion-related.) That reminds me, I do experience hip, lower back and stomach pain frequently. I can't handle ANY pressure on my tummy, and I have to frequently change positions or else something gets sore. And, my lower back joints pop ALL the time, now (not painfully so, just as though readjusting); and I get more pain between my shoulder blades (prolly tiredness or position-related.) Thank you for all the information, Nopenname! I appreciate it. I also appreciated reading your story about your experiences.

I don't want to make a NEW thread...but I'm not sure this goes here EXACTLY...but ah well...
Can you get a blocked milk duct even before you officially begin lactating?
Because HOT DAMN does my boob hurt. Part of the n****e and down along the inside of the breast. I know I've been producing colostrum already at 4 months (I suppose having been pregnant before my body knows what to do this time around) and It is hot to the touch and PAINFUL. I also have been sleeping on my stomach a lot lately because of how hot it's been I tend to rotate to cool off back, front, back, front, from the fan.
Anyway, I don't see any white spots on the n****e indicating cloggage...but DUDE it hurts. AND my general breast tenderness at onset of pregnancy has pretty much gone away.

Hello. I'm a month pregnant, but I just want to know from someone who has already given birth: how hard/painful was it? sweatdrop ((A few different people telling me would be nice, because all women are different.)) I just want to know what to expect. In general, how long were you in labor? That would help too. Thank you.

Hi, this is my first child that i am pregant with. I am due Dec 11th....... not totally sure. they guessed by the mesurment in my ultra sound that i had done a while back. it looked like a wasp without legs and wings, heh. anyway, im not worried about pain. im going to go to lemause (sp?) and if i still cant handle it (wich i doubt it beacuse its bassically hypnossies upon yourself and i am easly hypnotised) i will do the pain killers.
my consurn is the breasts enlarging. my mother was a DD before she had her first child. after that she turned into a DDD. then she had her second child 2 years later and became 4D and when she had me she was more heafty and remained a 4D. im consurn. im like her when it comes to the womanly parts of me. my aunts on my dad's side are all reltivially small, and i am a d. well my nipples have enlarged, does that indicate that my breasts will as well?
im sorry if this subject is rather blunt, im just worried because i have back problems that are heratitary (sp?) and when my boobs grew the final time before i got pregnant they worsen(sp).

I have a question about pregnancy.. this is my first and I'm in my second month (not showing, or anything).. But, I'm experiencing something I hadn't experienced before, since the symptoms first started coming on.
Okay, first the good news: I'm starting to get a bit of an appetite back, and not feeling queezy as often (still haven't puked or anything). It's still all sketchy.. some moments I can eat, some I can't even think about food. Smells of food are bothering me less, though occasionally they bother me as bad as before.. and cigarette smoke is bothering me more than it had in the past.. I smell it and feel disgusted by it. Cigar smoke, however, doesn't bother me.
Now, the actual question.. I know about post-partum depression (depression that comes after you've had your baby)... but, is it normal to feel depressed at 2 months? I'm sure it is, but, just want to know I'm not alone..
I feel frequently hopeless, lonely, easily moved to tears, feeling like I'm a terrible person and wanting to repent for POSSIBLY making anyone else feel sad or upset. I fear that I have done or will do something that will mess things up for my growing baby, and the thought makes me cry. I've been very careful about tempuratures, alcohol, caffiene and so on.. yet I still worry that I somehow did something that's going to end up ruining it's life.
So... Rofu holds me a lot of reassures me that I am worthwhile, not a terrible person, not worthless, that I am wanted and that I've been doing good.
But, does anyone else ever feel this way during pregnancy? I'm not normally this depressed (I've had moments, and longer moments, but this doesn't come one slowly and seems to have absolutely NO reason, and I struggle to FIND a reason and turn up nothing.)
Is this normal in the first trimester of pregnancy?

I have had some bouts with depression during pregnancy. The elevated levels of hormones in your body can cause mood swings, just like around your period. Actually, I've experienced both highs and lows during pregnancy, and, from what I've read, that's pretty normal. 3nodding

Hormones, hormones. wink I felt really depressed a few weeks ago. Cried over nothing, and even looked up adoption agencies on the internet, since I felt that I would make a lousy mother, didn't deserve the baby, probably would do something unintentionally to hurt it and mess everything up... I though the whole world hated me, basically. But then I talked alot to my mother and friends, got a lot of support & had an ultrasound done so I got to see the baby, and eventually started feeling better, and better, and better... Now I feel great! mrgreen Just touching my belly bring me so much joy. It's wonderful! biggrin

Thank you, both of you. I knew it was cause of the hormone levels, but yeah, thank you for confirming, Kmaritza.
December Inc, that is exactly how I feel, actually. I can't wait to hear the heartbeat or SOMETHING.

I'm just curious, and too lazy (and it's too late) to call my doctor's office, about when (in months, I suck at converting weeks to months sweatdrop ) can you find out the sex of your baby?

Maddi Asada I'm just curious, and too lazy (and it's too late) to call my doctor's office, about when (in months, I suck at converting weeks to months sweatdrop ) can you find out the sex of your baby? End of 4th month beginning of 5th month. They can look before that, but it'll look like a girl regardless. All babies start out looking like girls, around the fourth month the testosterone is produced changing the development of the genitals into little boy parts. Further, if you get a reading of it being a girl early on say in the fourth month instead of like the sixth, the ultrasound tech will probably tell you that there is a so and so much percent chance of it STILL being a boy because it could just be a late blooming boy. If they can outright confirm it's a boy (get a fantastic picture) then they will probably just tell you it's a boy.

Most likely you'll find out at around 20 weeks when they do the BIG ultrasound. I call it the BIG ultrasound because they take all of the baby's measurements which shows them if there are any potential problems. They try to figure out the sex then, too. Sometimes the baby won't cooperate though and they won't be able to tell. Some people are also lucky and are able to find out at earlier ultrasounds, if they have them. Be warned though: It is possible for them to make mistakes about the sex of the baby from an ultrasound. It doesn't happen as often anymore since ultrasound technology has come a long way, but it still does happen sometimes. There are other, more accurate ways, of determining the sex (i.e. amniocentesis) but you probably will find out from the 20 week ultrasound.
