Not finding the right thing in that package, Emris turned to the last one of the bunch. He silently hoped that it was in there or he really would have to tear the place upside down to search for where it went. Sliding the package to him the foxtaur randomly stopped whistling to ask, "How's those preserves going, Terrie?" Emris grinned and tried to look casual though he was trying to hide the last package with his arms.

"It's good. I've got enough for one more jar, I think." She said, pointing at the two full jars. "Though my curiosity is killing me. If I don't get to see what you're doing soon, I'll preserve you in a jar of your own." She said jokingly, eyes staring firmly into the pot of peaches, resisting the urge to turn and have her smirk totally give her humor away.

After gasping dramatically Emris replied, "My life has been threatened!" Then the foxtaur chuckled warmly and added, "Leave her be curiosity!" He pushed the packages together but took something out of the last one. "I shall have to defend you, Terrie, from this killer!"
Standing right behind Terrie, Emris unfolded the scarf and smacked her playfully with it. But he was careful of the peaches...for now. "Die!" He smacked her once more before pulling the scarf behind his back and grinning. "I hope that scalawag of a threat has stopped its threat on your life, madam." The foxtaur tried his best to look completely serious as he spoke in an odd accent but every now and then another chuckle threatened to escape.

Terrie chuckled quietly, then froze in suprise when something soft unexpectedly hit her. When she felt it the second time she spun around only to find Emris hiding it again and looking serious, except for the little twitches at the corners of his mouth. She stared at him completely baffled for a moment before laughing gleefully. She smothered her laugh quickly and cleared her throat. "My curiosity has indeed fled in terror, brave sir. But now a new condition plagues me. I am completely befuddled by what grand and powerful weapon you used to save me with."

Emris stood tall as a brave knight would before looking at Terrie. "Ah...yet you see milady...this weapon is supposed to be a secret one indeed...but just in case that scoundrel of curiosity comes again." Emris sighed heavily as in deep debate as of what to do. "I suppose my secret could be shared though...."

Terrie tilted her head and batted her eyes a little. Only a little though, as she had never batted her eyes at anyone before, and figured she looked silly. "I won't tell anyone. I wouldn't betray the trust of my rescuer. It shall still remain a secret."

"Aye, then we have a deal." Bowing low, Emris held out the wrapped up scarf. "A weapon to keep away not only curiosity but also the chill of winter." He nodded his head, "It'd be to my pleasure if milady would decide to wear this protection from me." The scarf lay there warm and soft in his hands with its white wool and green and golden ivy like patterns.

Terrie started in delight. What a lovely scarf! She looked up at Emris' face with shocked eyes. "For me?" She touched a hand delicatly to the scarf. It was so soft and lovely. Having never been given anything before, Terrie fought to keep tears from her eyes. Her mind told her she was reacting over nothing, but her emotions said otherwise. She picked up the scarf from his hands and hugged it to her chest. "It will be my honor to wear such a token of your bravery." Feeling her face warm, she ducked her head and let her hair fall around it, acting as if she was looking closely at the scarf details.

Laughing softly Emris nodded in delight at Terrie's reaction. "Yes, it's all yours." His hand found Terrie's and gave another squeeze, "But those peaches however might not be if you let them sit for too long." He chuckled sheepishly and moved over to put the rest of the preserves in the other jar. "But it was my fault for being such a silly distraction." Emris's cheeks warmed slightly at his actions before turning back to his task.

She felt her face warm even more when he squeezed her hand, then it started burning when he brought up the peaches. She'd completely forgotten them! Suprised that her hair wasn't being crisped by the burning on her face, she kept her head down still "looking" at the detailing. When she felt she had calmed enough to speak, Terrie quickly fanned her face with a hand before risking turning back toward Emris and the peaches. "Thank you." She said, setting a hand on his shoulder and smiling up at him.

Emris had finished capping the last jar when Terrie touched his shoulder. Turning his gaze to the green foxtaur, Emris smiled brightly and patted Terrie's hand. "You're most welcome, Terrie. Helping you is definitely worth that smile...." He suddenly blushed lightly and pulled back from touching her hand. "I mean! That's what friends are for right?"
Turning he shuffled by and headed directly for a nice hand-woven basket to hold the peaches and preserves in. Finally rising and looking back towards Terrie he held it up and asked from across the kitchen, "Using this fine with you?"

Terrie's smile became more affectionate than thankful as Emris spoke. She wasn't even offended when he suddenly pulled away. She was still smiling as he held up the basket. "Certainly. That'll be fine." Taking a peek out a window, Terrie sighed. "It's almost dark already. Lets get this ready so we won't have to worry about it in the morning before leaving."

"Aye. Aye." Emris replied walking closer and handing the basket to Terrie. "Wrap a towel around the glass jars and put the peaches in there too. You can wash them in the left over water if you wish as well."
He went back to the table, "I'll finish sorting my trading goods as well and have them ready for the morning." With that he started to arrange the packages together.

As she accepted the basket, Terrie gently brushed her fingertips against the back of Emris' hand. She supressed a girlish giggle as she turned with the basket to the preserves, wrapping them in towels and putting them into the basket. She started to rinse off the whole peaches as she watched Emris sort. "What else do you have there?"

Looking up at Terrie, Emris finished arranging the packages into one. "Mostly plain pieces of cloth and some other things like plain scarves. I bought them from a friend last week to sell at market." He chuckled and joked, "Too bad I couldn't get any more scarves like yours to sell, but the plain will have to do."
