Donovan didn't miss the comment though, it looked like Admir's worry was quite founded. Even though Donovan was sure Shael wouldn't leave, at least.... he would assume not, but then again she was a young woman now.
"Then I'll be around again in the evening," Donovan replied, "It has been a while after, and she was still a kid more or less the last time I saw her."

"At any rate," Ulrich put in before Elberon could go off again, "we should continue. After all, there is lots to prepare before the evening comes, and the next few weeks are going to be busy."
He nodded. "Elberon." And with that he turned and left the stable once again.

"Later Elberon," Donovan murmured before following Ulrich.
That took talent, Ulrich was pretty quick to keep it from a long ramble, which he was impressed with. Then again for all Donovan knew Ulrich was use to it by now or something.
"Well... that went smoothly," Donovan murmured, "So where is Vanya working this time of year?"

"Vanya?" Ulrich repeated thoughtfully. "This time of year she's between the garden and the field, constantly ... checking and rechecking the seeds, water levels, quality of the soil, adding fertilizer ... always something that needs to be done. She's probably in the field at the moment, she usually checks the garden in the morning."
He glanced over at Donovan. "I assume then that she's the one that you want to see next?"

It would be nearly like the first time he came here.... Donovan could still remember it, after all he wasn't nearly as old enough to think nosagtic thoughts about the place.
"Yes, actually, it would be good to check in with her as well," Donovan replied.

Ulrich nodded and smiled. "It's always nice to talk to her," he agreed softly, "especially after speaking with Elberon. She's got a good, strong head on her shoulders, perhaps with the most common sense of most of the people here, save perhaps Celeborn and Elros."
He paused. "Of the hired help, I mean," he added.

Donovan chuckled at that, "I see... well not everyone minds Elberon's questions. I know Kara doesn't, she would keep answering and not get annoyed for as long as Elberon keeps asking."
Honestly if he hadn't limited to the usual three they would have not gotten out of there and even then the man cheated and asked a fourth question.

Ulrich looked at Donovan through half-lidded eyes. "I've said it before, and I'll say it again," he remarked flatly. "Kara's special. I don't now of many others who would put up with him like that."
He waved to Amdir as they passed by the training pen on their way to the field.

Donovan laughed, he couldn't help it since it was Kara they were talking about. He would agree, she was special....
"Yes, that is one way of putting it," Donovan continued to chuckle as he nodded at Amdir as they headed towards the field, "She said it had everything to do about perspective."

"With him there is no perspective," Ulrich replied shortly. "You heard him ... he's always barraging Shael with questions, even when she tells him flat out that it's not his business. He just doesn't get it."
He pointed out into the nearly empty field. "There she is."
Vanya was about ten rows in, stepping gingerly between the rows of tiny green sprouts, kneeling every few steps to touch the ground.

Well he had meant Kara's perspective rather than Elberon's.. it was hard to tell what was going through that man's head at times. Or if anything went at all at times.
"Ah... so she is," Donovan murmured waiting for her to finish before calling out her name.

Vanya was humming softly to herself as she worked, but she could feel it in her spine when Ulrich and Donovan stopped behind her, and she straightened and turned to face them. Her long, golden hair was braided down her back, but several strands were loose, and she brushed them back from her face, leaving streaks of dirt on her cheeks.
"Good afternoon," she greeted the two men with a smile. "What brings you out here today?"
And she made her way carefully out of the field, out to where the two of them were standing.

"Just checking up on things, talking to people, catching up with people," Donovan explained, "After all I'm mostly here and gone again and back and gone again. Between that and the time difference, I do miss out on quite a bit unless I take time to slow down and get in touch with everyone."
And nothing reminded him more of that than how the children were growing up.

"Ah," Vanya smiled. "That is indeed a good reason to be searching me out. Or anyone else for that matter. For a while, I have to admit, it seemed as though there was too much time passing between rescues, but now that Elros and Celeborn are going out on their own when you're not here, I feel a lot better. I understand that it isn't your fault, but as fast as time seems to pass here for you, it seems to go incredibly slow for us sometimes."

"That is understandable, it was a good thing Celeborn had suggested it the last time I was here," he had to agree with that.
He had tried, and at first it was okay, but these days it was hard to visit often, and far too tiring to go on trips every single day. Not when it was days over here that the trip would take.
