Part I – The Sentinel

Player: Slander
Name: Dodger
Nicknames: Patch, Patchy
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Fledgling
Hatch Date: 07/12/200?
Type: Aberrant (Piebald Wildtype)
Task: Learning how to not suck at flying!
Personality: Indomitable would be a good word to describe Dodger. She seems to be completely and utterly unflappable, despite the many insults and jibes thrown her way due to her unfortunate aberration. Sharp as a talon, quick as a lepus, Dodger goes about her day to day life with the same vigor and energy that most Sentinels use only while hunting.
She's a bit more solitary than most Sentinels, although that isn't for any lack of desire to socialize on her part - most of the other fledglings steer clear because of their parents or close-minded Minders. See, those bright, unnatural patches of white are, well.. kinda obvious. And even though they haven't spread or been contracted by anyone else, many Sentinels seem to be convinced that it might be contagious; or at least they avoid her as if they think it is.
Dodger harbours a secret desire to be a Ranger or a Scout or even an Elite some day. She keeps this desire a secret now, because when she once made the mistake of piping up during class to tell a Teacher of her dreams she was met with the loud laughter and beak-clacking. How could a little freak like her ever dream of being such a thing??! She kept her beak shut then, but ever since the little piebald fledgling has become even more determined to make the most of these last few weeks before she chooses a task of her very own.
History: Dodger's parents are both fine, upstanding and well-bred Wildtypes. Both of them are long-serving and well-respected Elites, and both of them try very very hard to forget that she exists. If it hadn't been for her very obvious aberration, her parents would have taken the time off work to raise her themselves - as it is, she was given up to the Minders within minutes of her hatching. The strange, colourless patches covering their child (who should have been as perfect as they are) condemned her to a life without family.
The Minders are the only family that Dodger has ever known. She is blissfully unaware of the vaunted status of her parents, which is undoubtedly for the best, and has been 'lucky' enough to find herself cared for by many different Minders in turn. She rarely spends more than a week or so in the care of one Sentinel, preferring instead to flit from tree to tree as she learns all that she can... or at least that's what she claims. If you ask the Minders and Teachers, they'll just grumble and turn away. Nobody would care to admit to excluding her from lessons, but there's something about the odd little patchy thing that tends to disrupt classes. And they can't have an Aberrant like her messing things up for proper Sentinels, now can they? So classes tend to be 'full' when she arrives, or are scheduled while she's off amusing herself.
Territory: Whatever tree she happens to be on, in the Minder's enclave.
Mate: None.
Companions: None.

Part I - The Sentinel

Player: Amy D
Name: Coalfoot
Nicknames: None yet
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Fledgling
Hatch Date: 03/09/2008
Type: Shadow
Task: -

Personality: Coalfoot is quite patient and can sit and wait a long time for what he's after, whether thats food, attention, play, etc. He's of the opinion that he'll get it eventually, so why rush about to get it first? And because of patience, he can concentrate for long periods of time and not get easily distracted, although does get irritable if someone is constantly trying to un-nerve him. Like most youngsters, he can be curious and can sit and examine things (i.e. pull them apart) until he has a grasp on that object. He also likes to ask lots of questions until either his unwilling 'victim' gets exhausted with him or until his curiosity is satisfied. He's persistent, but that can also backfire on him if he pushes it too far.

History: A random egg found and hatched by a kindly Minder amongst a clutch of others in a similar situation, Coalfoot wasn't an exceptional hatchling. Just average really - sleepy or hungry most of the time. At first, he battled just as much as the rest of the other hatchlings to be fed, but realising that everyone gets fed anyway at some point, he thought he'd start being patient and wait. He also started playing with his food fairly early, but was clumsy with his Will power. Not to be discouraged though, he keeps practicing, day by day, strengthening his Will and getting more accurate and stronger. As he grew, Coalfoot became a little more adventurous and started bringing things back to his Minder. They were nothing of importance or even value, but some were impressive, for a fledgling that is. He enjoyed finding things, turning them over, looking at them, checking them, even touching them with his feet or beak. And he enjoyed bringing them back to share. So his Minder wondered how he might feel about becoming a Gatherer. He's still weighing it up, eyeing the ground with ever more curiosity and trepidation. He wouldn't dare venture there just yet, not alone at least.

Part I - The Sentinel

Player: Bombazine
Name: Bee Balm
Nicknames: Bees
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: fledgling
Hatch Date: 23/08/200?
Type: wildtype
Task: makin’ his agemates laugh and sassin’ his elders.
Personality: Bee is the kind of fledgling that a Minder appreciates having in the mix. Since his hatching, it seems he was fated never to take offense, and never to become uncomfortable. Bee loves being fed, and he loves having funny friends, and it is very possible he hasn’t thought about his life in any situation beyond that. Mostly, he’s just concerned with those he likes getting along with each other, and also, maybe learning to fly at some point?
History: Well, Bee doesn’t really have a history, yet. He lives in a Minders’ enclave, being an extra egg from a clutch, and has no thoughts whatsoever about his parents or his keepers, because he’s been far too busy chatting with the other fledglings. To date, there is no sign of his ever thinking about anything mature or useful.
Territory:
Mate: none
Companions: Titty the parus!

Part II - Companions

Name: Titty
Species: Parus
Age: oh, who knows.
Speech Ability: 2
Intelligence: 3
Skill: Titty just sings and looks cute, mostly. Bee Balm loves him, and at the same time pays almost no attention to him whatsoever.

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: Mogami
Name: Darkwood
Nicknames: Dorkwood (childhood friends), “Old boy”
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Fledgling
Hatch Date: 09/09/2008
Type: Deep Woods
Task: Not yet.
Personality: Darkwood is simple. He’s easy-going, good-natured and eager to please (if it’s not too much trouble), gravely lacking on the ambition and competitiveness departments. He has a very healthy appetite. His gentle nature and his deep voice that can be sometimes confused for an adult’s often give strangers the impression that this fledgling has an old sentinel’s personality. They’re not far from the truth.
History: Not much to say about Darkwood’s past. His parents are combatants and have chosen to leave him in the care of minders. They visit him on every full moon so the fledgling is quite happy with the arrangement. He has no siblings.
Territory: He lives with the Enclave minders.
Mate: OvO?
Companions: A paranoid little parus that guards the fledgling zealously (a gift from his parents)
Certificate: User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Part II – Companions

Name: Dork or Parus
Species: Parus
Age: Adult
Speech Ability: 2
Intelligence: 2
Skill: Dork’s job is to protect his young master from danger. Being a relatively dim-witted parus, he wasn’t used to being treated with kindness and now that he’s in the gentle talons of little Darkwood, he’s taken his protective nature to a whole new level. He will warn him if someone is moving too close. He will alert him if a suspicious shape (usually a leaf) is approaching them. He will wake every sentinel in Noctua if there is a carnivorous companion too close to the Enclave. Also… his voice is everything but pleasant.

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: Chikagi
Name: Roseblossom
Nicknames: Rose, Rosie
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Fledgling
Hatch Date: 6/10/2008
Type: Aberrant, Shadow & Deepwoods
Task: ---
Personality: Sullen and pitiful, Roseblossom is a quiet Sentinel who feels ashamed of her Abberant plumage. She looks on the other types with envy, wallowing in self-woe about her mixed heritage. Self-doubting and meek, she never stands up for herself, but rather finds herself apologizing instead.

Due to her low self-esteem, she practices her flying alone. Only when she's sure no one is watching does she feel free enough to stretch her wings. Though small due to her parents' types, the Shadow from her father's side brings a beautiful luster to her feathers, while the natural talent for intricate flying comes from her Deepwood's mother.
History: As an Aberrant, Roseblossom has endured the teasing and jeering of her peers, coupled with the judgmental and disdain-filled looks she receives from the older Sentinels. She can't help but feel that it's her own fault somehow, confused by the prejudice she experiences for something completely out of her control.

During classes, she falters with her flying, too ashamed to fully spread her wings to fly correctly. Because of this, her class-mates would only tease her further. Under extreme situations she has a very slight stutter, of which she tries her best to hide, lest it become another source of her shame. This causes her to become stubbornly quiet, and she will refuse to speak, instead only bobbing her head in reply.

She longs to show the forest exactly how graceful she can be in the air, but is held back by the limits of her type. She has plans to travel into the farther reaches of the forest where she can fly by herself or until she can dye her feathers.

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: Kitty Sprightt
Name: Dewleaf
Nicknames: Dewy
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Newly Fledged
Hatch Date: 04/04/09
Type: Aberrant
Task: None yet.
Personality: She's quiet and unobtrusive, with an average intelligence and calm disposition. Reassuringly plain, which helps offset her aberrant nature to some folks. Which is exactly what she wants - to blend in with everyone else. In truth, she's a bit brighter than she seems, and very careful. Her guise is still imperfect, but she's getting a lot of practice.
Though she's tried not to let the ridicule of others bother her too much, she's bound to snap eventually.
She occasionally gets incredibly antsy without any discernible cause.
History: Being minder-raised is not such an out-of-place thing, but being a minder-raised aberrant tends to start a few rumors about one's shameful parentage among the more closed-minded (but curiously open-beaked and insult-ready) Sentinels. Dewy has dealt with these sorts of things calmly and courteously, and has been able to get along without much more than the occasional confrontation.
Territory: None yet! Looking for a nice river or brook.
Mate: A little young for that
Companions: Not a one.

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: Dark Fire Angel
Name: Silos
Nicknames: --
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Fledgling
Hatch Date: 22/09/2008
Type: Wildtype
Task: N/A (Will aim to become a Chirop keeper in the future)
Personality: Laid back by nature, cheerful and perhaps a bit of a smart-a**; sadly, he's unable to pull it off with the grace needed for others to take him seriously. Slightly awkward in that while he seems willing to please others, he (again), lacks grace and ends up sticking his proverbial foot in his mouth. Fun loving, with a knack for jokes, Silos seems to enjoy others' company and doesn't take things all too seriously for now; a squabble with this Sentinel will be as good as forgotten within a few minutes (at least on his side). Altogether sweet, even if he can be stubborn and unwilling to see reason when he believes he is in the right.
History: Minder raised; Silos has no clue as to whom his parents are. Despite this, he seems to be perfectly okay with the fact, happy to live day by day, for he believes that while he can not change history, he can change the future to the best of his abilities.
Territory: Minder's enclave
Mate: None
Companions: None (yet XD)

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: Meepfur
Name: Dustfall
Nicknames: Fall
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Fledgling
Hatch Date: 10/09/2008
Type: Aberrant (Ghost/Deep Woods)
Task: N/A
Personality: Dustfall is a mopey, unhappy fledgling, though he wants for nothing in life. He's shaping up to be one of those individuals who's just pessimistic by nature, and perhaps even a little lazy. After all, if it's not going to go well anyway, why bother?
History: One of seven children from Birchfall and Dustfeather's second clutch, Dustfall is one of the two the couple is raising themselves. So far, this little Aberrant has no idea that he's anything strange, and it will stay that way as long as his mother has a say in the matter.
Territory: Lives with his parents in the mixed forest, just across the Swift Open River from the Deep Woods.

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: Dark Fire Angel
Name: Honeystorm
Nicknames: Honey, Hon, Kepi
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Fledgling
Hatch Date: 10/09/2008
Type: Wildtype
Task: N/A (Will aim to become a bard in the future)
Personality: Born the only female of a clutch of seven eggs and it soon enough became quite clear to her parents that they weren't going to be able to tend all the ever-hungry chicks. Honeystorm and her siblings were thus sent off to the minders' enclave to be raised. Somehow, the fact that she spent most of her time with her male siblings seems to have affected her; the small female is a bit of a tomboy, happily unaware of why she might differ from her siblings. Sweet, affectionate, naive and much too trusting for her own good. In fact, one could tell her the sky turns purple on certain days and she'd be inclined to believe them. It's not that she's stupid, or unintelligent, for she has a tendency to offer small bits of rather insightful knowledge when she seems inclined to do so. Or rather... when she's able to concentrate on something for more than two seconds. She is flawed in that she's easily distracted, happy to watch a passing butterfly and lose complete track of whatever it was she was doing. Amusingly enough, she is musically inclined, and when she's coaxed into actually paying attention, this small female can prove to be pretty athletic. At least... as athletic and agile as a fledgling can be (which isn't saying a lot, in all honesty).
History: Minder raised due to the fact that her parents were unable to deal with her and her six other siblings while also keeping up with their respective jobs. Honey's short life so far has been full of songs; her trusting personality make her quite the odd little fuzzball, happy to explore and drive her Minders (and anyone else willing to listen), up the proverbial wall.
Territory: Minder's enclave

Companions: None (yet XD)

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: giftwrapped
Name: Featherfall
Nicknames: Feather
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Fledgling
Hatch Date: 30 August
Type: Wildtype
Task: Living up to her parents’ expectations
Personality: Featherfall is social but independent, preferring to do things on her own time and in her own way, often to the point of seeming a bossy know-it-all. She likes her parents, but her relationship with them is distant. They are good parents, but they have never been the coddling type, and Feather is all right with that. She isn’t the coddled type, either. She likes the Minders, but she only sees them on occasion. In general, she’s an excellent listener, pays strict attention to things, and is extremely disciplined for a fledgling—a genuine little stickler for rules.

She doesn’t seem to want friends, in the traditional sense, though she doesn’t dislike being social. She’ll speak when spoken to and is always polite, even if she seems a bit prematurely crisp for a fledgling her age. She won't be selecting a specific Teacher and will instead aim to learn a little bit of everything from everyone. This is what her parents have planned for her, and Feather, who idolizes both of them, has completely internalized it.

History: Feather hasn’t had much of one of these yet. She has one brother. And her parents are reasonably prominent combatants (a Ranger and a Scout) who took some time off to raise their two new fluffs. She has spent a bit of time with the Minders, whenever her parents both needed to be off, but for the most part she has been raised by her family. Both her parents expect their daughter to grow into a strong combatant. Feather simply assumes she can meet their expectations and rather ambitious demands, and has not failed them yet. She is bigger and stronger than her brother, and tends to become either his boss or his watcher. Neither of which are roles she minds, but she does expect him to keep up, with the same curtness that her parents expect Feather to grow into a daring strong combatant.

Territory: Her parents have a large one slightly south of the Deep Woods, just across the Swift Open river. Her parents will likely be sending her to study with some Teachers in a more full-time setting soon.
Mate: None
Companions: None yet!

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: Aurrie Beaues
Name: Highwind
Nicknames: Hi'
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Fledgling
Hatch Date: 30 August
Type: Wildtype
Task: Just trying to keep up with Feather
Personality: Highwind is a quiet and often unhappy little fellow and tends to be a little on the insecure side, what with his small size and his parents' obvious attention to his sister, Featherfall. He wants nothing more than to live up to the same expectations that his parents have for his larger and more adept sister. Despite this feeling of unhappiness, he loves his family as much as any fledgling can and they as much as a parent can love their child. His mind tends to wander and he is often a fidgety one; he can never seem to pay attention to the lessons of his parents, or the minders that he occasionally finds himself with, for very long. He shows little interest in being the big, strong combatant that his parents wanted out of both of their little ones.

He isn't exactly shy, per say, and nothing cheers him up like a word of praise or a play date with fellow fledglings, but he does not want to draw any more attention to himself than he already receives.

History: Highwind's history is about as big as his size. Basically, it's small. It was noted upon his hatching that he was smaller than his sister, which might not of been a problem had he not stayed small for a Wildtype. That and the fact that he tends to be a wanderer in body and in mind. He tried to pay attention to most of their lessons... But there was always something more intere---Oh? Is that a beetle?

He often found himself in the Enclave when his sister was receiving more in depth lessons, lessons they would attempt to give him later on, when he was alone. It isn't that they have no hope for him, it is just that he is taking more work. He wants to please them and hopes to make them proud one day, but he wants to do that with a task that he wants, not what they want out of him. Fortunately, he does get along with and look up to his sister, despite the obvious favoritism. He does not mind so much the fact that she is often his sitter, but he does have trouble keeping up with her, especially when they are playing or practicing.

When he is on his own, he can often be found around the Enclave, sticking his beak in the business of other fledglings and generally chatting and playing with others. He does have a small competitive streak, but it only seems to shine through when he is with others of his age and size.

Territory: His parents have a large one slightly south of the Deep Woods, just across the Swift Open river. He does plan on leaving, eventually, but he has no idea what the future holds for him. He might study with his sister for a while, but he has little idea of what he wants to do with his life.
Mate: None
Companions: Eventually, but not right now...

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: giftwrapped
Name: Mistletoe
Nicknames: Mistle
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Fledgling
Hatch Date: 06/10/2008
Type: Deep Woods
Task: Becoming less fail
Personality: Mistletoe is a bright, cheerful spirit, always interested in what’s going on around him and always dreadfully excited to be involved in things. He’s gregarious to the point of being irritating, and tends to get in the way in his effort to be in the thick of things. While he’s generally incorrigible, he gets flustered and embarrassed in the face of strong reprimands. He’s not particularly good at anything, and his lessons often end in annoyance on all sides—teacher, student, and bystanders who have been accidentally involved in, say, catching a fledgling who has just fallen backwards off a platform. Clumsy even by fledgling standards, Mistle is most emphatically not displaying any tendency toward the combatant professions. He does seem to be pretty good with his Will, though.

History: Mistletoe’s life has been downright boring. He was the second egg in a clutch of two. His mother is a Crafter, his father a Scout who is very rarely present in the Deep Woods, and his mother just didn’t have the time to raise two hungry fluffs on her own. She gave Mistletoe to the Minders. As Mistletoe fledged, he got more and more involved with everything, and now he’s generally under surveillance to make sure he doesn’t interrupt anything important or dangerous. It is a universally accepted fact that he cannot be allowed to have companions, on the grounds that they will no doubt immediately get lost.

Territory: With the Minders, though he may be ushered off to see some Teachers in the near future
Mate: ---
Companions: No
