Her head rested against his chest and she felt that familiar texture of his fur. The smell of him engulfed her and excited memories of old, and she would of rather had been nowhere else. She sang along in her mind to the Saxon lullaby that he used to sing to her when she could barely reach his knee, and a smiled graced her lips. Isilya kissed him lightly over the heart and leaned into him. He was her protector, her guardian, how had she gone all those years without seeing him?
~~~~~
Time passed quickly while she was in Akrins embrace. And when she finally awoke, fully conscience and aware of her surroundings she did not move a muscle, though her breathing changed somewhat. "Just let him think I am still sleeping..I'm....I'm afraid." She whispered, making sure her eyes stayed closed. She knew she was wasting precious time they could be using to apprehend Camelots Knights, but she didn't want to go, she didn't want to leave that very spot, and lastly, she did not want to feel Val's wrath.
Ryn was riding like mad, barely able to make out the various things that whipped by as he rode. He had put his knife away again, and pulling out a small amount of bandaging and wrapped it around his left shoulder.
He continued, despite his difficulties, to keep a sharp eye on his surroundings, to make sure he didn't get surprised by his enemies. He hoped that the other two were alright, but he had no way of knowing now, and he continued to ride, knowing he had to find the queen, and yet not having any information on where she was, unlike the knights.
((The problem is I don't play any true villains anywhere... I mean I've got some pretty foul characters, but they aren't really evil, or even bad guys... I'm pretty much always a good guy, or a neutral... even if my character is foul razz But I guess I could...))
Akrin stayed there, his thoughts riddled with what to do. The memories of his first battle came to him. The battles he has fought alongside new warriors came to mind. All had one thing in common, nervousness. Some could make the combat with new life, some did not. Some did not die, yet realized that combat was not their place quiet yet. All these things came to mind when he looked down at the girl of only 16.
He eventually came to the conclusion, a comment he heard his master, the father of Isilya say to one of his men. Akrin looked down to Isilya and nodded, as if understanding much more than he makes it seem. He stroked her head, reasuringly. He gave a slight hint of seriousness to his next comment, but he knew she would take heed in his words. He could feel that she was not ready for battle. She only attempted her magic once before retaliating to fists. She was an enchantress, she needed more time than even the most mentally fragile warrior before seeing battle.
"If you are unsure as to your place in combat, then do not walk the ways of the warrior. Instead, walk the ways of a student, learning that which makes us whole, until the day comes as it does for everyone, when they are fit to stare death in the face and say 'I am prepared to die.'" he said quietly to the girl. Now she had seen battle, and its her choice as to what to do. She will either chose to get up and learn the ways of using her magic in combat, or retreat back to her home and hearth. Either choice, Akrin will be there with her...
"I want to go home..." She gripped his arms with her frail and shaking hands, she was scared, not only that, she felt out of place. Perhaps she was strong enough in some ways, but in others, she was completely lacking. Unlike most fathers, who only had one child, and it happened to be a girl, Isilya had not retrieved any formal combat training, only the little bits that she picked up by visiting the sparing grounds. She sighed to herself and then looked Akrin in the eye, holding either sides of his face with her hands.
When she looked at him, she had not seen the beast that everyone else saw, she only perceived the man. The strong and wise man that had always looked after her. She pressed her face close to his and with all the certainty in the world said. "Go with me. Go back to Bomea with me....please." She didn't want to go alone, and she didn't trust Val to send her off with anyone else either. And to tag along would just be a waste of everyones time.
"I don't sense anyone near, and Val can survive a couple of days without us, right?" She placed her palms on Akrins shoulders, a look of defeat etched across her face. Maybe she should go back, and train even further, but she would be so isolated from everyone else, the idea of it scared her to death. She appreciated being the wizards apprentice, but she didn't like the life of solitude that accompanied it.
Valraven despised the way they thought of him, true, he was very hard core on the inside and out, and he would remain that way, but perhaps, he had to blame his tough nature on himself, the way he lived, grew up, and whitnessed death as an every day sort of thing. Both of his eyes never moved from their spot, and he took in what he knew. True, he would face the Knights alone, and he was most certain if he did, he would last longer than any other saxon man, but he was not stupid, nor foolish enough to do a thing like that.
Cold hearted was his nature, but wise was something that equaled out the nagative. He took his stand, turning his back and looking at the both of them, keeping a strong stance. "Turning back now would only prove your father right, that you were not suited for combat. Though he is correct in everything he mentioned, and going to Bomea would serve that purpose, is your ego ready to face defeat? I've seen women weaker than you, rise up after being hit by their husbands, turning the other cheek, being beaten, and yet always getting back on both of their feet. I've seen men, dismembered in some way or another, and still returning to the battle field." Valraven was no quitter, he would fight till his life was over, or his enemy's was. It was either kill or be killed. His sharp eyes turned from the two and he began readying himself to go onward, to fight the others.
"Say what you will about me, but whether you come or not, I'm heading back that way to fight the Knights who dare injur my group." He pushed himself off the rock, moving to his horse which stood there, prepared and ready to go. Valraven started to head out, just until he was out of their sight, and waited for them, in hopes they would come.
He looked at her. He thought about her history, her father, his master. All are connected, and he knew he had to go with her if she left. He remembered her watching him combat people in the training grounds. He remembered, as it took much longer for Akrin to be trained and tamed than any other warrior. He remembered the groups of trainees that he killed in his fury of being captured. He remembered the ones that lasted longer than most.
"Get the restraints back on! Its the generals daughter in the pit! Kivan! Protect her with your life, she's worth more than it!"
Akrin came at the trainee and grabbed him by the throat, people were rushing to get the small child out of the pit. He looked to the girl, threw the man into the side of the pit. He walked over her the girl, she looked up to him.
"Mr.. are you a Centaur?" SHe asked inoccently. Akrin looked down to the girl, then bent down. It was then he noticed the bravery in her heart, more bravery than any man had shown in his presence. He looked down to her and gave a smile. He then was attacked by the rest of the trainees and he was restrained...again...
He then shrugged. "its not me you need to ask, its Valraven.." He then patted her on the head. "face your fears before you run away..hmm?"
Reina was a bit preoccupied in thoughts, she was worried about hearing there was an enchantress amungst them. Though Reina herself knew a bit about the art, she was not sure how she would measure up to her. For a long time, she had worked hard, to please her father with her skills, but more so, to be accepted as a Knight, and to impress her fellow brethren. Females were usually no where near the battle field, but she had grown to love it, it was a place of expression, of valiancy, and, where she could find her way to fight alongside Lain.
As he stood there, he looked ready to take on whatever came to them, and she was most certain that if she were at his side, she'd be able to do the same. Her eyes wandered the path ahead, and she could just feel someone close. Hades strode near him, and she placed her hand on his shoulder, staring still at the path before them. "Lain, I think we should let the other two proceed that way, while we head forward. You and I are strong enough to at least hold them off from following Thal and Ryn, it may just be enough to buy us time."
How was Reina able to keep so calm, when her mind was in so many other places? She thought about what may happen, the Queen could be tortured, have a miscarriage, or maybe, have the gods forbid, lose one of her men, and suffer a casualty. In her missions before, none were this serious, and most were only to test their strengths and were usually finished within a few days, a week at most, however this was more than she ever barganed for. How she longed to return back to Camelot, enjoy their victory party with food and ale, and enjoy the rest of the night, apon the rooftops, singing her song to the moon and dancing like a carefree child. She was still young, she had matured so much but had a lot of growing up yet to do. Her eyes moved to Lain once again, thinking about how he had managed to keep her sane, and feeling young. So many times she was forced to learn the hardships of an adult, but he would sneak her out to the courtyards late at night, and the two would lie on the soft grass, and enjoy what was left of their childhood.
"Lain," she whispered beneath her breath, too soft for human ears to pick up, but she said no more, keeping beside him, ready for any orders he had.
