Erik prepared summoning circles for a Beast and a Firebat in his mind. He didn't quite trust his shadow magic enough to use it in this type of high pressure situation.

Tomas' mind voice came across as very eager. The sheer weight of Tomas' excitement was setting a little of Erik's adrenaline flowing. He prepared to bring the Beast out as soon as the door opened and tried to keep his mind open. Any bit of Tomas' experience would be helpful.

Erik realized his hand was shaking, but he didn't really care. He was ready for blood.

The door burst inwards abruptly. After a moment of surprised delay, Takeshi released a concussive wave of wind through the door as Joe formed the shield. Four fireballs were blown off-course.

The room was about twenty feet wide and ridiculously deep, with an entire castle-like structure taking up the majority of the area - and they were outside of the structure. Meaning their plan to knock off the Chameleonic user wouldn't work. Arrow slits on the walls spat fireballs, only for Joe's winds to deflect them towards the surrounding walls. Takeshi fired his USP into an arrow slit as a firebat flew down another. Screams came from inside, but they had yet to see any of these "Forsaken." Siber slid his ward against the large, metal door of the structure. No sound. They established a position just outside the door. Takeshi's magic wove through a corpse, and a dead being from inside unlocked the door. There was a short passage consisting entirely of crossed bars.

"I totally do not trust that," Takeshi commented. "What now?"

Siber was having fun. Which was good, because his physical strength was at an all-time low; as expected, the burst at the end of the last trial had drained him fairly significantly, and he had to wait for a natural second wind before he could do anything too strenuous, assuming one came at all; the light he had absorbed apparently did not aid the physical nearly as much as the mental.
Takeshi, regardless of possible character flaws, was beginning to impress him. "I don't trust it, either. Send your zombie to touch it- see if they're cursed or even real at all. If they're untouchable, there's no reasonable way to blast through them all- we'll have to find another way. Erik, search the fabric of light for disturbances- check everywhere, for the Chameleon and a hidden door."

Keldan hesitated.
Siber scanned the walls for anything, angry he couldn't search the light matrix. Keldan could do it, but it would sap his energy like a dagger's bloodlet, and he didn't need to lose anymore. It was bad enough maintaining this aura.

Takeshi directed the zombie. It climbed through the bars with puppet-like jerking movements. It eventually reached the end and opened a door. Takeshi wasn't so quick to believe it.

"I still don't trust it. Check for anything that could be used for a surprise attack - small holes, ceiling or floor grates, whatever," Takesh said. "I'm going to active my third eye..."

Takeshi murmured, blinked, and then physically recoiled. He blinked again and began rubbing his eyes.

"s**t, that thing was lit up like a Christmas Tree. Its practically exploding with magic. I don't know what's up with it, but I'm sure it isn't safe. Do we try to find a direct circumvention, an alternate path, or what?"

"Maybe it reacts to magic," Joe said. "I got it."
He split the wind shield, then pushed the small portion forward through the tunnel. It was strong enough to also keep any incoming attacks out of the way.

"Well crap- I guess it's all targeted at live bodies. Use your Ajna- I mean third eye- on the walls; see if that works." Siber spun the trap aura quickly around their small group like a frisbee on someone's finger, getting as much range as possible to see if he could catch and kill the Chameleon by surprise- he needed it to activate quickly.

"I'm not quite sure about how it would work," Takeshi said. "All I know is it's very... magical. I can't even look at it with my third eye. Kayla, maybe you could try it?"

Samuel sighed with relief when the plane landed. No battles in the air. That was good. He filed off the plane and sped through the gates and out of customs to pick up his bags as fast as possible. As they came by, he picked them up and sped off, blending in with the crowds of people.

Samuel hailed a cab and had it set course for a high quality hotel. If he was going to wait for Legion's people, he would do it in style. He had the money. They pulled up and Sam got out and reserved a room, then got settled, laying out his weapons and putting them in his trenchcoat as he had been unable to do on the plane. He sat in a chair and began watching movies, keeping the door in good view even though it was locked.

Kayla nodded silently. Instead of using her third eye, though, she reached out her hands as though she were grasping at thin air. Ahead of her, her shadow quivered slightly, and suddendly she could feel the way the darkness flowed through the corridor ahead, and the way that there was a feeling of something different to the left of it. Like a differently lit space, with a different set of shadows from a different light source.
"...Hidden door on the left..."

Takeshi nodded. His zombie felt around for it and promptly fell through the wall.

"Anyone who doesn't mind dead bodies care to pick that up?" he asked, indicating a scorched body. "Siber, you might as well drop the ward for at least a little. We can give a quick scan to each room, but we don't know how long a sustained ward will keep you out of combat. Oh, and are you a thaumaturge or an evoker?" he added.

"I'm a thaumaturge," Siber replied. Takeshi thought for a moment.

"Do you think you could bind the ward to some sort of device right now?" Takeshi asked. "None of us is capable of an effective Chameleonic at this point, so we probably shouldn't try that in a life-or-death scenario."

"Yeah, hold on. I've got some change." He pulled a Maine state quarter out of his pocket. He dropped the ward for a moment, holding the method of forming it in his head.

Siber zoned out for a moment, then clicked the fingers of his right hand twice in quick succession. He felt the ward bind onto the coin.
"Done. Shall we go in?"

He held Pathelios in the back of his head and drained a tiny amount of light from around his hand, blackening it for a moment. It felt as artificial as an energy drink's caffeine, but it rejuvenated his spiritual potency for the moment.

"I think someone who can avoid a few fireballs should go first," Takeshi suggested. "Someone who can drop into their own shadow and will be able to bail out if there's a trap linked to life in there." He looked pointedly at Kayla. "I don't know how well or how fast you can Shadow Step, but it's better than any of us. You up to it?"

Erik waited, unable to form a cohesive train of thought. Somewhere in the back of his mind was a tiny voice saying something was wrong, but he ignored it. He just needed blood. Shift.

Tomas had a body, he was sure of it. For the first time in centuries he could smell things and feel things without someone to delegate. Something was wrong, though. It still wasn't his body. He didn't really have control, and he didn't know what was going on. The voice came to him from all directions. Tomas was glad to oblige. He struggled for control and entered a state of frenzy. Shift.

They were talking too much. He considered attacking them. The tiny voice was loud and emphatic. Fine then, he would wait. Another tiny voice joined the first. Okay. He summoned a Firebat to go flying down the corridor and disappear at the end, just to see what would happen.

((Oh, gosh. I'm a tard. Sorry about missing some stuff - I've been having a bit of a rough time with keepin' up on Gaia. I'll try to do better.))

"I vote we move straight for the airport. Better to cut them off early before they can start making trouble," Paul said, picking himself up. He hadn't actually taken the time to get undressed; he was still wearing what he had been yesterday. He wasn't letting go of that thing, not after what happened to the girl.

"Anyhow, let's get this show on the road ASAP."

"Uh, actually," one of the technicians said uncertainly. "He's already out in the city. We've sent two tracers on him already, but unless we move now, we have no shot at picking him up before the Shadowmen kill him.

"We should go now, then," Linda points out.

The firebat flew down the corridor, dodging through the maze of bars like nothing. It flew through the fake wall and a large explosion was heard. The firebat was launched backwards out of the wall again.

"Well, I guess we know what the point of that is. They probably subdued my zombie by hand once I lost sight of it," Takeshi commented. "Kayla, I think having you Shadow Step and flank them to cause confusion is our best bet. Flanking is always good. Unless there's a better solution that literally charging blindly into the room?"
