Shyrae glanced at Richards and shook her head, muttering something under her breath about that silly man. Giving a wink and a wave to Dhairiss, she strolled over to Sky, petting her gently. "Stay close to the ship, okay, Sky? I'm going below. Be good." It was nice to see her relaxing. "Dhairiss, stay out of trouble." Thus below deck for her.

"It matters not. I'd prefer you not practice such unknown things on one of the members of this journey. We need them all for various reasons and if you happened to miscalculate it could pose disaster for us all. I'm nto willing to risk that many lives on an experiment." Giving a nod and thinking of a way to say it better. "Sometimes when my kind gets older, they cannot control their movements as well and their magic as well. Things seem to randomly break just because they are in the room. It's all very amusing really and we often speak about with each other."

"It doesn't work that way, Des, and you know it. It's her ship, she doesn't have to show you any respect. You exacerbate the situation by loafing around when you could be valuable. You ran the crow's nest once before, do so again without her having to scream at you. Do your job, do it well, and you'll find Gem isn't that hard to get along with. She's putting you in your place because as a Captain, that's her job. And you know it and you grudgingly want to respect her because of it." Chucking Desdemona under the chin.

"Admit it, if it was Hunter you'd have him in bed by now just by his tone." Chuckling and shaking his head then merely shrugging. "Slugging her would have had me coming after you and most of the crew. You don't want that."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 02, 2007 7:31 pm

He turned his attention to the new voice. Oh look information. "All sand huh? Bummer." Shrugging lightly well now he knew that didn't he. "I thought I smelled salt." But it seemed they were putting people back to work as well and well...he was left doing nothing but being a guest again. Oh well, he could always help where thrown...or keep an eye on the dragon.

She turned her eyes where her ears told her, that flash of green glazing them over again for a moment before she walked over to rigging and started climbing. "I can climb and I can handle mainsail." Thusly up with her to do said things. After all, she could handle such a thing...and if she needed help, she could borrow someone's eyes.

"Somtimes it's best not to change what already has is." Shruggling lightly and shifting in the position that she lay on the deck in. After all, too long in one spot and she felt stiff...in fact she righted herself so that she was sitting up crosslegged now. "Though I do admit, the idea has an inventor's flair to it. I respect that." Turning a look to Eilynne again. "That does sound amusing, but a tad dangerous."

Looking up from his charts, Hunter frowned a bit.

"Not remotely from what I can see. not many ships can go out here, the Claw, Chimera, and maybe six or seven others besides the Serpent. many don't modify thier ships for it, since as far as anyone knows, it's all Riders and nomads...and Fang."

glancing back down though.

"was there anything of notice? any kind of markings, landscape, something that might be useful for charting purpose? Right now anything would be useful. we need to keep abreast of Fang, and Riders considering you, Bell, adn the new blue addition that the drow is tending."

taking a drink from his bottle, offering a drink to Kanzec.

"As much as I hate to say it, right now we're in Fang's playground. no one knows the saltbeds better than him. adn that is why I need to know anything that you might think useful. even something you might not think important."

"I could handle you. and the crew."

A smirk.

"That maybe. but you already said you weren't interested, remember? somethign about not wanting to get involved with someone who obviously is after someone else? hmm?"

then a grunt.

"fine. I'll work the crow's nest. but I am not scrubbing decks."

before a poke.

"And you said something about presents, didn't you?"

"Yes, these are the saltbeds. there used to be water and such...but then there was a kind of...natural disaster you could say. a big one. now, save for a sparse few places adn atolls, this world is a giant sea of sand. this used to be a lake...or damn near an ocean. I'm not that old yet."

though a look over on him.

"If your interested, you can help your sister with teh riggings. but I'll need you out on the prow here, dealing with the focsul here. that line helps witht eh sails up there. and if you want feel free to offer help. most these dogs are plenty eager for a helping hand if only to get out of a little extra work."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 02, 2007 7:53 pm

He wasn't surprised. The moment they had decided to enter the salt beds, they had already prepared themselves mentally for this. Now it was just a matter of waiting it out. He disliked that feeling but merely nodded back at Hunter. "I simply tell you what I saw from an objective point of view, Captain. The tower-like outcropping of rock and then the chest that Sky dug up. I assume you already know of that since you knew that we were gone from the ship for a while. I did also see a revealed symbol in the face of the cliff though, probably a means of communication between the Riders." Moving forward, he drew it out for Hunter to look at before shaking his head at the drink offer. "No, thank you. If there are so many dangers that pose a threat to us in the salt beds, we should find a means of exiting them as soon as possible. Where are we headed next?"

She'd known the idea would latch in Jae's mind which is why she'd nipped it in the bud immediately, just in case. If Jae believed she was being forbidden, she wouldn't pursue it. After the voyage, Malik could play whatever he wanted with her as long as she willingly participated. "It is. There have been more than a few irreversible effects, but alas, old age effects us as well and there is no cure for it. At one time, we thought the humans had and so we came down to study them from afar and see. That's when we discovered elves."

Thobias merely smiled and reached up ruffling her hair. It was nice to see her half smiling at the very least. "Alas, my dear, but I will occupy a second slot for no woman. It fiddles with my fragile ego and then I go crazy. We don't want that, now do we?" Pleased at the good sense she was seeing, he nodded, "Right coordinates. Right conditions. Lay low for a little while and don't snap at Gem. You'll see an improvement, I promise." Before smirking and digging inside his pocket and pulling out a three-tiered necklace with a score of rubies and then one rather large hanging from the third tier, that would set her scales off to perfection. "For the lovely lady. Impress Hunter with it." Shaking it, her hoarding senses should be going haywire about now.

"Alrightly, I'll lend a had where needed and give breaks. No lazing about for me." Nodding to the first mate before heading off to indeed help with rigging and what not. Hey, he was a quick learner...made him really really useful.

"Discovered the elves? The old legends that we know of say you created elves on his plane. The humans were here, the elves were meant to help the humans and the dragons contracted into helping them all and protecting them. Of course that's a story from a long long time ago. It's bound to be muddled by now."

Eilynne nodded. "There are many such versions fluttering around. No one knows the full truth. Even I was not old enough to personally remember." Her voice took on a wistful, story-like quality an dshe began, "I was told the story of the Laerethe who were sent to a sister plane like this one to assist but things went terribly wrong and they were separated. You may not know this, but our genders are dependent on the other. Females hunt and protect and males create and allow prosperity. One cannot survive without the other. Eventually, they met back up and were so joyous in their reunion that a child was born between them."

Pausing a moment as the old story came racing back, "The child was not endowed with the special abilities that a Laerethe born on our home plane would have been but he was not fully human either. The couple chose to stay on the plane and raise their child and eventually conceived many more. These children spread out and eventually the elf as you see today was born. I suppose in a sense you could say we created them, but it's not quite that simple. Time has exaggerated some aspects. There are other versions that claim that the Laerethe liked the plane so much they opted to stay quite willingly and live out the remainder of thier days."

Her eyes didn't leave the necklace, and if she'd been less dignified, she might be drooling. hoarding instincts certainly working overdrive. she snatched, it mostly due to the fact it was being shaken so just reaching out and taking it was a bit of a problem.

"Okay, you give good and certainly appeasing presents. though how you snuck this out of Gem's stash is interesting."

Hunter frowned lightly.

"That's the big question. so far, the star eyes have been giving the headings in general. neither myself or gem have maps that can give us an acurate gauge on h ow to get out of the beds without going back the way we came. I imagine Fang is back there waiting for us to do that...or he's following us at a pace slow enough wear us down."

a shrug.

"Gem is supposed to get a heading for us, or some kind of general idea. if there's nothing more out here, at least they can probably tell us that much and we can either tempt fate going back, or think of a way out of here in the other direction."

Fang was guiding his ship, carefully, precisely. two days. two days and they'd intercept the Claw. the Riders had informed him of the stash that someone had dug up, obviously the one dragon they lost. which meant someone was either acting as it's new owner, or it was tagging along of it's own accord.

which meant small changes in plans. that meant three dragons there. he'd probably pay a few riders to accompany this attack, to neutralize the dragons, and maybe turn the pet against it temporary owners.

"make sure when we see the Claw, the long guns are loaded, and prepared. I want her dead in the sand as quickly as possible."

"Wow...never heard it like that before. For some reason it sounds so much better than what I've her." Putting her knees together she pulled her legs up and crossed her arms on her knees, resting her chin on them. "Nice to know that there's someone around that can set things at least a little straighter." Giving a sigh she turned her head so that she was now resting on her cheek with a little cough. "Well...hopefully I'll feel better soon enough and I won't be slowing everyone down. Like now...seeing as the captain requested a word with you and I'm sucking up all your time."
PostPosted: Sat Nov 03, 2007 7:04 pm

Eilynne very nearly shook her head and chastisted her when she realized that she was right. It was Jae's personality to push people to honor their commitments and their word and not allow herself to get in the middle of that. She did it to Kaznec all the time. "Perhaps you should find some sustenance, Jaebell. I do believe it has been quite a while since you last had a sufficient meal and you really cannot afford to let your strength diminish." Viable excuse? Well, sure, but the truth as well.

"And while you attend to that, I shall go attend the meeting requested of me." Thus pushing herself to her feet and coming to stand behind Gem. "Captain Nereem, I believe you requested a word with me? Do I need to find Rahsaveer so that you need only say it once? Or is it a matter for mine ears only?"

Thobias chuckled and stood, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "It isn't Gem's." Let her chew on that one a while and he ruffled her hair. "Now, you have a job to be doing my dear. Just do me a favor and stay out of Gem's bed, alright? I don't want her screeching in my ear again."

Well that wasn't very valuable or comforting information. Apparently even their captains were unsure of where exactly they were going or what the next destination goal was. "It wouldn't be efficient to go back the way we came. One, because Fang is possibly following us like you said and two, because the goal of this quest was to find more of the shards. We must keep moving forward. I could scout ahead in natural form, since I would probably be able to cover more distance than the ships in a specific amount of time but there is a certain risk to that." Besides the obvious.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 03, 2007 7:55 pm

Bell merely nodded and gave her a smile as she wandered off, leaving her by herself once more. They were all pushing her to eat right now and it was the smart thing to do, give her body the energy it needed to recover. A look up to Malik, "Do excuse me, Sir Elf...but it seems my health is everyone's concern at the moment and if I neglect it I only get fussed at." Thusly pulling herself up using the railing and using other objects to keep herself up as she made her way or tried to at least, down to the galley. Oh hurt so much.

Gem turned her attention from the expanse of sand ahead of her to the Learethe. "You alone is fine. I'm sure you'll tell your friend if it is important enough to you. But...first of business. We need some sort of direction for this journey...I'm in a place I'm not familiar with. I would seend the dragons to scout, but with riders it's risky. As for other matters...when can that dragoness leave my ship?"

Eilynne nodded and walked over to stand beside Gem, gazing out at the sparkling salt. "There isn't much more this way. Continue heading west for now. I will be scouting in other forms to continue updating you on which way we should go. There are no energy signatures in the air that I can sense but I haven't talked to Rahsaveer in some time. He may have picked something up that I wasn't privy to."

Pausing a moment, she ground her teeth angrily. "I forbade that dragon from the Chimera so that she would go out and continue searching for shards. Clearly that order went right over her horned head. As such, and I am aware of the trouble she has been causing on this ship, she is free to rut with the other captain if she so desires. The usefulness I thought she might provide has failed to appear. I am deeply sorry for any pain and irritation she has caused you and will do my best to make amends in anyway you see fit." Giving the human a bow and leaving her head down, waiting.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 03, 2007 8:38 pm

"West it is then, send a message to Hunter." Speaking to a nearby cabin boy from the looks of him before back to Eilynne as the creature apologized and hung her head. "No need for hung heads my star speckled little one. Dragons are prideful and selfish creatures, it's just how they are. Having her off my ship is enough of payment for me. She seeks to cause me trouble on things that do not even exist and only do so in her head."

"We can't afford for you to scout. or bell. the Riders would be alerted to you two probably more so than anything else. if we were able, I'd try to find Fang and steal some of his maps, but that's not an option with his longer cannons. Our biggest problems right now are simply locations and enemies. neither of which we have accurate information on at the moment."

glancing over Kanzec.

"And despite the difference between us in a legal sense, I don't cast aside valuable assest easily. your strength is better put to use here, then to be risked to scout ahead. you're simply a much larger target that way."

Malik gave a slight nod, before looking at the bird on his shoulder.

"Back to my daughter with you. and back to the Chimera for me."

That got a bit of a look. not gems, eh? then whose was it?

"I wouldn't have fallen asleep if she actually used her cabin more than once a day."

before she put on her necklace and got herself up, keeping her dignified walk/strut up on deck and taking a glance at the captain and the star eyed pest a moment, before jumping the rigging nad getting herself into the crow's nest.
