Haldia's eyes flickered towards the fire, and she was pleased to see that it was near Arwen and Roydon's. She was eager to see them again.

"So he needs to learn to be social, is that what you mean?" she asked Lin, heading for the fire Miyuki had pointed out.

Leyenda and Kelirahc and Amalirahc hurried forward to greet Arwen and Roydon, who were waiting for them.

Earendil chuckled softly and let Miyuki lead him forward. "Come now, you can't be so cold that you're in a hurry to warm up," he grinned. "Why the rush?"


Haldia nodded slowly. She didn't know Aethos very well, and she didn't know much about him; but if there were some way that he could change and be a better person, as Lin was insisting that he was, then she wanted to see it. More than that, she wanted to be a part of it. Show him just how senseless it was to lock people away underground for no reason.

"Do you think that I might help him?" she asked Lin softly. "Show him that despite what he did to me, I am no longer afraid?"

"Well, in the hundreds of years that he has been acting that way, that does not surprise me," Haldia murmured. "The people know him too well."

Still, she would do what she could. She had seen a good side of the man on her first visit to the island. It had been rare, but she had seen it.

Earendil chuckled and kept following Miyuki. "Do you think we're going to sleep outside tonight, on the beach?" he asked her with a grin. "Or head back to the ship?"

"I am sure they will," Haldia smiled at Lin as they caught up with Earendil and Miyuki. She looked around, then back at Lin. "I will be back soon, I want to talk to Arwen and Roydon for a while."

And with a grin, she was gone again.

Earendil chuckled at Miyuki. "Yes, we can sleep outside, right here by the fire," he grinned at her. "First someone is going to have to get our things from the ship, though, or else we won't have any blankets."

He paused. "Perhaps we should sleep on the ship tonight, and bring all our things tomorrow," he mused.

Earendil chuckled sheepishly and put his arms around Miyuki. "Sorry, I think it's a bit my fault," he apologized. "We have been switching back and forth all evening, I think ..."

Not that he had really realized it until now.

He smiled at her. "So, is Haldia going to come with us?"

Earendil shrugged. "Worse come to worse, I can bunk with someone else and she can share with the two of you. It would be easiest that way. I am certain Celeb would not mind sharing a bunk with me, if it meant Haldia could come with us."

He winked at her and grinned. He had every intention of teasing Celeb - without going overboard, of course.

"Just on the trip back to Amon Darthir," Earendil reassured Miyuki. "But I would still be close." He hugged her tightly. "That way Haldia can come back with us to the island, would that not be nice?"

He really wanted it to work out, and though he thought Celeb was too young for a relationship, he hoped that htings would someday work out for him and Haldia, too.

Earendil shrugged. "That, I cannot say," he admitted. "It depends on how many people are on the ship then. You and your mother will likely have your own quarters then, as we did on the way to Amon Darthir. But we will see what happens, all right?"

He hoped Miyuki would let it go. He knew that she didn't understand why he and Lin would only sometimes share a room, that she didn't understand about social proprieties, and he didn't feel as if he could adequately explain it to her.
