The Mi hand seal had eluded Tairu for the second time. Hm, I should definitely look again to see if I'm doing this right. Though I really don't know how I could screw this one up. In order to make sure that he was doing the hand seal correctly Tairu went back to basics. Slowly forming the hand seal multiple times and then increasing the speed at which he formed each successive hand seal. Repeating this exorcise for seven minutes Tairu began to feel confident again that he could succeed this time. I know that I can master this hand seal. Just go through the motions: one, bring my palms together, two, put my fingers together, three, interlock them over my palms. Hoping that he would be successful this time Tairu concentrated hard and then formed the Mi hand seal for the third time.

After failing to correctly do the Mi hand seal three times in a row Tairu started to become discouraged again. Well, I guess I'll try making my movements more fluid this time. Instead of focusing on speed Tairu started practicing with his arm and hand movements. Trying to make his hand seal formation into one smooth motion was harder than Tairu thought it would be. He worked on his movements for well over twelve minutes before looking at the picture of the Mi seal again to make sure he was still putting his hands and fingers together right. Looking at his hands Tairu saw nothing wrong once again and hoped for the best with doing the hand seal using a more fluid movement style.

Tairu was starting to despair now that he failed four times in a row. I got the other six, so why, why can't I master this one. Tairu looked at his hands as his face contorted with frustration. Why the hell can't I learn this idiotic hand seal. It looks so easy a baby could do it. Tairu punched a nearby tree in an attempt to get rid of his frustration. The feeling of pain shot up his arm; causing Tairu to cradle his fist as he cursed quietly. Ugh, why I am I so stupid. Tairu went back to practicing when the pain left his hand. Working on the hand seal for twenty minutes Tairu was really getting discouraged from trying to make the hand seal. I have to do this if I'm going to get everyone else to acknowledge me as something more than unwanted trash. Tairu then tried to create the Mi hand seal for the fifth time.

Tairu sat down in frustration and then flopped over onto his back. Is it impossible for me to do this? Am I even capable of being a shinobi? Tairu laid on his back lost in thought. His self confidence issues were severely handicapping him at the current moment. Looking up at the stars in the sky all he could see were the hand seals he had yet to learn. To Tairu the stars in the night sky were the hand seals he had yet to attain. Tairu could see the stars but it was an impossible task to reach them. Picturing the hand seals the hand seals that he had already learned Tairu tried drawing confidence from the fact that he was indeed half way to his goal. Tairu stood up once more and studied the Mi hand seal yet again. Here I go, this hand seal is going to be mine soon. Tairu took a firm and stance and then brought his together forming the Mi hand seal.

Yes, that's it raced through Tairu's mind. He had finally succeed at using the Mi hand seal. It had taken Tairu six attempts and quite an extensive amount of practicing to finally learn the Mi hand seal. I just have to remember to stay positive and continuously put my best effort into achieving my goals. Tairu looked through his sketch book to find the eighth hand seal. Now it was time for Tairu to learn the Ne hand seal. Using his normal routine Tairu practiced slowly at first and then started to increase his speed with each practice run. Working extra hard in order to quickly reach his goal of learning all twelve hand seals before dawn Tairu poured his effort into learning the Ne hand seal. Feeling confident about it Tairu decided to try forming the Ne hand seal.

That's perfect, hard work will be my key to success. Getting the Ne hand seal on his first attempt was a welcome relief to the time it took to learn the Mi hand seal. With two thirds of the hand seals out of the way Tairu moved on to the final four. Next on the list of hand seals was the Uma hand seal. Tairu studied the Uma hand seal and quickly focused on practicing it.So far the Uma hand seals was one of the most uncomfortable hand seals. The positioning of his fingers made the joints rub together near the bone. I really need to get through this one quickly. Tairu practiced the Uma hand seal for around seven minutes before he checked his form. Everything looks good. Feeling confident Tairu decided to try forming the Uma hand seal.

Sweet, only three more to go now. Tairu was on a roll now and his morale was shifting for the better. Tairu felt miles away from the despair he had experienced only a few minutes ago with the Mi hand seal. Looking at the final three it was now time for the Saru hand seal. The Saru hand seal was by far the easiest looking hand seal of the twelve. This is going to be a cinch. thought Tairu as he looked at the picture of the Saru hand seal. Tairu began practicing the Saru hand seal almost immediately after seeing it. His confidence however, had caused his ego to swell. Tairu only practiced the Saru hand seal for four minutes. After this I'll only have two more hand seals to learn. Tairu then rushed into attempting to form the Saru hand seal.

Tairu was doing better and better, he had now done three hand seals in a row on his first attempt. My hard work is definitely going to pay off. Tairu now looked at the penultimate hand seal. It was number eleven, the rabbit hand seal. Only two more to go now. Tairu frowned slightly because the rabbit hand seal looked a little complicated. Tairu didn't let it bother him too much thouh. He pushed forward towards his goal. Practicing the rabbit hand seal in his usual manner Tairu worked on his speed for eight minutes and his form for seven minutes. "I will succeed and reach my goal" Tairu said out loud to himself be fore preparing to try forming the rabbit hand seal. This hand seal will be mastered just the like the previous ten hand seals.

This time Tairu didn't correctly do the hand seal on his first attempt. It's okay I'll just get it right the next time I try doing the hand seal. Tairu slowed him self down and started practicing again. He checked his fingers to make sure that they were in the right positions. Doing his normal routine of slow to fast practicing Tairu worked on the Rabbit hand seal for another fifteen minutes. My dedication to achieving my goal will get me through this training. Tairu looked up at the stars yet again, but this time with a different attitude. "I'm going to make others see me among you" he told the stars. With his confidence still at a high level Tairu focused his attention on his hands as he attempted to form the rabbit hand seal for the second time.

The rabbit hand seal was indeed hard to do. Tairu incorrectly formed the hand seal for the second time. Continuing to practice hard Tairu formed the rabbit hand seal over and over again. I have to work hard in order to succeed. Practicing for a period of fifteen minutes Tairu continuously checked to make sure he was putting everything in the right position. After the fifteen minutes Tairu rested for three minutes and then practiced again for seven minutes. With his confidence still high Tairu checked his form one more time. Seing that nothing was wrong Tairu decided that it was time to try forming the rabbit hand seal for the third time. Here goes nothing he thought as he attempted to form the rabbit hand seal for the third time.

This is nothing to worry about. This hand seal is just like the Mi hand seal, I just have to keep working hard to succeed. thought Tairu as he failed to correctly form the rabbit hand seal for the third time in a row. Looking at the picture in his book Tairu noticed that he might have been slightly off in his right thumb's positioning. If I fix this than maybe it will solve my problem. Tairu practiced again in order to fix his misplaced thumb. After working on his new form for seven minutes Tairu made sure that he had fixed the issue with his previous form. Reviewing his hands as he made the rabbit hand seal Tairu made certain that he was ready to try again. Seing that the problem was gone Tairu got ready to try and form the rabbit hand seal for the fourth time.

I knew I had nothing to get down about. Dedication to success will make my name known among the Hyuuga. Tairu had just successfully formed the rabbit hand seal after four tries. Now it was time for the twelfth and final hand seal. The Hitsuji hand seal was the final hand seal and Tairu quickly noticed that it looked very similar to the Tora hand seal. Here we go it's time to master the final hand seal. Setting into his usual routine Tairu started slow and after five minutes started to work faster and faster for another eight minutes. To-san I am going to show you I am not a failure thought Tairu as he prepared him self mentally. It was now time to try and form the Hitsuji hand seal and master the twelve hand seals.

Tairu's spirits soared as he successfully formed the Hitsuji hand seal and learned how to form all twelve hand seals. I can't wait to go home and show To-san Tairu thought as he picked up his sketches of the hand seals. He looked up at the stars one last time and just imagined himself among them in the future. Tairu then ran off towards the Hyuuga compound to receive what he believed would be a long desired congratulation from his family.

"Mn...true." Came the Hyuuga's quiet voice. "...heh...a madman, huh...?" Opening his eyes, the stars reflected in pale white-violet orbs, he continued. "That will all depend on the definition of madness, I suppose." The definition of madness? After all, that too lays in the hands of society. Sitting up, Shiru settled an oddly cool gaze on the boy, brushing a few strands of grass from his sleeves.

"The sentry captain of the eastern gate, Sennin Hyuuga Michishirube." Came the reply. "And you?"

Tairu found a small grassy field and took out his academy scroll. Opening it to the section containing the information on the push ups he looked at the requirements. Tairu assumed the push up position shown in the scroll and began his training. Moving slowly, Tairu worked at using all of his arms and upper body. If I am at the level of an infant I must first improve my strength thought Tairu as he moved up and down. Right now the training was easy as Tairu wasn't tired at all. He felt like he could easily do fifty push ups.
