muted melodies Farferalloie muted melodies [].K.huro.[] I play the flute, and just recently joined the guild. 3nodding Hi~ Hmm. I have a question, that'll probably make me sound stupid. sweatdrop I had a really good flute, then two-ish years ago it got stolen, so one of the music stores that mainly supplies the schools lent me one of their flutes, which was REALLY crappy, but it still worked. NOW I'm borrowing my mentor's and no matter how I try to move the foot joint or whatever, I can't find a way to NOT put my right pinky finger in immense pain. Anyone have any suggestions on this? sweatdrop Try cracking your pinky before you play, and having the foot joint all the way up Or you could try rolling the footjoint back so you don't have to reach so far with your pinky. I meant having your keys on your foot joint facing up towards the ceiling...If that's what you were talking about I find it more comfortalbe to have it facing at an angle to the ceiling, when I have them facing straight up it's also difficult to hit a REALLY high C or really low B. I have an open-hole with a B footjoint.

Misa1 muted melodies Misa1 muted melodies Definatly no fun. Do you continue on your own? Like....private lessons or just teaching yourself? Yes, I play myself. I have a few books I've bought, but when I got my school from school I had a yellow case that had my music in it. I got the case, but someone stole the music out of it. Someone don't like me... sweatdrop So now I have to go back out and get some more books. I had my favorite, my disney solo's book.... I love my Disney solo book Yea, I loved mine too. My mom went all the way to England to get it for me. Aww. sad ::hugs::

I, however, have I guess built up finger strength and I've never a problem finding a position to play in. But I'll agree...Hitting really high C's can be a pain. Lucky. blaugh I don't get my open hole until next year. And I'd love to get a Bb gizmo on the foot joint as well.

Ya, those are REALLY handy for hitting the high C, instead of having to reach all the way up to the third little thingie, it's a really awkward position. My friend has a footjoint with a gizmo key, I tried it and it was so much better. :3 . xD;

Is there an alternate fingering to the high C then? Or is it used for other things as well? And, does anyone know what a split E mechanism is used for?

No, you just use the gizmo with the regular fingerings. The split E is for E above the staff. Supposedly it gives your E a cleaner, easier sound.

Alright all my flute-y tooties, I have a question for you. Do you still hear "this one time, at band camp" from stupid jocks/other morons? To this day I still hear it and it aggitates me to no end for the simple fact that I've heard it before and that it gives all of us flutists out there the rep that we like to..erm...use our instruments for...erm...pleasure. stare It's so juvenille and I brush it off with a stare hokay, but it still just REALLY annoying.

We have some jocks in our band. rofl
But anyway, no, no one really says that...ever, I don't even know if they did when that movie came out, due to the fact that I was till in Middle School when it did.

Ah, that lovely quote... I still get people that smirk at me in a perverted way when I say I play the flute. It's rather disconcerting. x-x; Even in middle school...I think it was eighth grade...my friends would poke fun at me for that. I suppose we were an immature lot.
