"The dragon, you know," Darius repeated. "It's still here. And honestly, who's not going to think we're here if there's a dragon? People can put two and two together. Either way, I hardly think you should worry yourself about it. Whatever they've got surely we've got more of."

It occurred now to Joe, Paul, and Siber that it would have been wise to do a bit more about the fire that the dragon had released before it was caught and launched. The dragon was regaining control in the air and fleeing into what was left of the house.

The book in Samuel's hands was burning and his skin was singed, even through his shield. Joe veritably exploded with fire as his Djinn 'sponsor' returned.

Helmsborough's eyes blazed as he released an enormous wave of light at Siber's demon.

Darius shrugged, moved over to the next house's driveway, picked up a car, and lobbed it at the dragon, rather casually. He didn't bother to do anything about the book; it was beyond repair. Now what he cared about was Helmsborough, and he intended to do some nasty things to him. The only problem was the annihilation shield, and that was easily enough overcome by attacking remotely in one variety or another. In this particular instance, Darius chose to do the same thing he had done to the dragon, grabbing the other car from within the house's driveway and nonchalantly pitching it at Helmsborough. It was clear he wasn't thinking twice about Siber's safety, as he hadn't paused in the process of throwing the weapon. (Actually, he was thinking about Siber's safety, but came to the conclusion, "heck, what's the worst that can happen?" and dropped it from his mind, thus thinking about it once. Not twice.)

The dragon, having wiped out the book, disappeared within the house.

Helmsborough grinned and braced himself, catching the car one-handed; it seemed to have simply attached to the end of his hand. He spun once and hurled it straight at Darius, almost totally horizontally.

Darius grinned, very cheerfully. He caught the car as Helmsborough had, spun several times to add momentum, then lit it on fire and hurled it at Helmsborough. A suspiciously Legend of Zelda-like tennis match was at its opening, apparently.

((Darius is fun, but I'm afraid I'll over-power him. Of course, this is my end-all-be-all assault, so I think I have the right to make him pretty powerful, so long as he has significant character flaws, which given his nonchalance in destroying private property, he does.

Yeah.))

Helmsborough sidestepped and, with a lunatic grin on his face, launched it again. This time, it was accompanied by chains springing from the ground - though the Hunters, Warlocks, and company had realized they were coming from portals to Crossover - to bind Darius' arms. Helmsborough rushed in behind the car.

Darius had a very simple method of dealing with this, and that was jumping, catching the car with his feet, spinning it around once, and slamming it downward on Helmsborough, who would at this point have advanced far enough. Furthermore, Darius wouldn't be coming down - the air had agreed to support him, and he didn't intend to come down on the chains. Speaking of which...

The rock around the portals began to contract wildly, almost as though to choke the chains. Any metal chain of normal durability would be destroyed, but these might not be...

((Wait, so just like that, the book is gone? That can't be right.))

Feeling the onset of flames, Samuel allowed a Gurul to have a little fun. He casually bent the direction of the flames into the debris that had been a house, while Samuel continued his chanting, now running towards cover and away from the battle.
Within the confines of his dæmon cocoon, Siber had no idea what was going on around him, except for the vibrations of Darius's voice, which he could not distinguish as words. Finally, the dæmon made a move, once he felt the threat... which appeared to be an expulsion of the visible spectrum... from Helmsborough. The light moved around the creature as it spun just before it opened up like a tulip from top and bottom, revealing Siber, curled in the fetal position and surrounded by a spinning maelstrom of bladed discs characteristic of a gyroscope.
Siber's eyes remained closed and he uncurled his body as though thawing.
Seeming in contrast to physics, Siber's cage moved to his side and began tracing geometrical patterns around Helmsborough while the car-tennis ensued. As Helmsborough prepared his most recent blast, the machine-looking dæmon released its blades in a hail of discs, forming the gyroscope again around Siber before he even hit the ground. Shifting focus, the creature-human duo plowed into the remains of the house, seeking the dragon. Once found, the creature became the target of a swift charge slightly left of the dragon's center, going for the heart.

((Dragon did firespam. Nothing happened to really stop it. Consequentially, the book is, just like that, gone.))

Abaddon's chains yanked Darius down by his arms, which they were still wrapped around, and Helmsborough sword slashed upward into and through him as he disintegrated the car with his shield. The chains sparked a little, but as the rocks came near the portal the very element recoiled; the Heart of Darkness was a repugnant thing to a natural element, as the Heart of Darkness was the core of an entire artificial Pillar.

The dragon dove into an unusually dark, damaged cabinet. Siber followed, arriving on a plain of reddish, glowing plants with seemingly no sky. A sun bathed the landscape in Unlight, creating reversed shadows. The dragon was flying towards a small, metallic castle.

Siber had, it seemed, followed the dragon into the very Heart of Darkness. Oops.

Darius was neatly divided in two. Two gems remained on the left, two on the right. Then his arms seemed to liquify, in a disturbing reminder of someone else who was very black, and they devolved into their original elements until Darius was free, free to soar clear of the chains in two pieces, which subsequently formed themselves back together into individual six-foot tall constructs, each identical to the original Darius, besides the fact they each had half the number of gemeyes. Each one launched broiling waves of flame at Helmsborough, intent on breaking the shield despite all.

Helmsborough dodged towards the other Darius chunk and sliced at it.

This time, the Darius chunk met his assault with its hand, then gathered a rather large and heavy bit of rock around its other fist and slammed that into Helmsborough's face. The other Darius bit gathered together a big chunk of rock that looked suspiciously like a large baseball bat.

Helmsborough's blade cleaved through Darius' attempted block with the extended annihilation shield around it. He headbutted the rock around the other fist, which crumbled as Helmsborough came near. Simultaneously, he swung his sword around at Darius' torso.

((A question, before I continue.

How is it that the Titan's Fists sustain no damage when being confronted with Abaddon's annihilation shield?))

((They're immensely powerful, legendary, quite possibly divine if they're telling the truth, and are more powerful in defense than offense, for a start. biggrin ))
