Well let's begin Quidditch talk here.
Tech has already agreed to do the riddles (Beaters) this summer.
So we'll need someone to do trivia for the Chasers and Keepers
and of course someone to hide the snitches.
I don't mind doing something, but if enough people volunteer, I'd be glad not to lol.
Then there's the idea I had in the Chamber (which we'll keep there until the event opens)
Anything else?

I would really like to help with the summer event. Am I eligible to do the trivia (considering I'm still only an elf) for the Chasers and Keepers? If I am though, I'm not sure exactly what I'd need, or how it would go down... I imagine it will be similar to dueling club style...? But I'm up for helping whatever it requires, I'd just need someone to tell me what I need.
And I was just looking at the Hogwarts Monthly stuff which is really just more of the same nonsense of people not helping out, I mean one person can't do everything, and I've even been thinking about possible articles and such (most notably an idea to do an "excerpt" from our friends at the quibbler every month that's a satiric extrapolation of something from the books taken out of context) you know if we could round up some other people and more support and get it going again, but that's for a different thread, and I think these summer event matters are more pressing.

Of course you can still help! Here's roughly how the tournament worked:
Those who signed up were divided evenly into two teams. We then has seven rounds, where each round consisted of beaters answering a few riddles, keepers and chasers answering about 5 trivia questions, and seekers trying to find the next snitch (which was hidden in a post somewhere in the guild).
We're going to need quite a lot of trivia, so any help with that would be great! However many rounds we have, we'll need about 5 questions for chasers and 5 questions for keepers per round.
If you want to play as well as help out, you definitely can, but you have to play a position that you're not helping make the questions for!

I'll help with the snitches since I'm not very good with trivia, and especially bad with riddles. I just need someone to tell me where I should not hide them. Not the Chamber or common rooms, obviously, but is there anywhere else I should avoid? And also how many pages from either end of the thread I'm allowed to go. Did we have clues last time? I seem to think we did.

xd Man oh man that's so cool. haha, I love the innovations you guys have all come up with to make things so hogwarts-y!
And, I can definitely take responsibility for 35 of the trivia questions (so half), and I think I've got a long list of super nerdy Potter trivia questions lying around somewhere that we've used to entertain ourselves at book/movie releases. (you know waiting in line).
For example, What color were Gilderoy Lockhart's robes at his book signing in Flourish & Blotts? sweatdrop Too hardcore? Maybe?
But if I can find those then I could probably take on both the chasers and keepers trivia.

In other reguards, I just spent a ridiculously long time looking at this forum(subforum? I'm no good with those labels) Starting at the beginning. Cause that's just the kind of person I am. Mostly I was looking at KTweirdchick's stuff (my Cissy). I was curious about what sorts of things she did, cause I know she put A LOT into this guild. And I've seen this guild in several rotations and regimes, and it's changed radically many times. But reading those posts brought up some thoughts.
One thing that I found totally cool that i've never seen before was Headmaster Adonis' office, on gaia towns, TOTALLY COOL! I read about it, and then had to go check it out in the rp forum. Seriously, supermegafoxyawesomehot. 3nodding
Another thing is that I'm curious why we don't have conversations like that with the mods and such talking about updates and possible events on here so much anymore? Are they just not happening, or are they in the Chamber of secrets? ... or I guess I could just not be looking properly. sweatdrop that is entirely possible... in which case disregard what i said, and feel free to set me straight.
Okay, and the last thing, I'm curious to know if the Chocolate Frog cards that Katie proposed on pg 80 and then gave an example of on pg 81 ever happened, because, if not, I think that is something I would like to continue, I could probably even get images from her for it. Not to mention bios. But yeah, I think it's really important to appreciate those who put so much work into this place. I'm not sure about the trophy room... But maybe it's a Hogwarts Monthly type of thing... I'm not sure... I just wanted to throw that back out there... to be considered... xd

@Red: yesss!!!
Which would be your preference? Chasers or Keepers? Keepers' questions are supposed to be a bit harder than Chasers' questions because they subtract points. From your question, I'd think Keepers would be best for you. I don't want you to have to REF both Chasers and Keepers. That's insane. The last event is in the Event Forum. Maybe when you get a chance, you can see how both threads were set up last year and which one you'd prefer.
If Red helps out, whether or not we get another volunteer, that means I can focus on the betting part of the event.

@Lyra: so you'd be okay if we put you in charge of the snitches? you'd also have to make up clues as to where they are...without actually revealing the location easily. Juni has the rules in last summer's thread. We're basically doing the same exact thing. We'll probably rename it or do the Stands again.
Tina found both the snitches last time... I know one was in a thread in the White Tomb. It really doesn't matter where you put them because that's the Seekers only job.

KT was the one that made me a mod so long ago smile how is she btw?? tell her we said hello from HPGoG! ^_^ KT did a lot in the early days of the guild. The organization of the lists was her idea. Unfortunately KT left unexpectedly (probably because of a busy life) and the guild went into an I'm almost dead phase.... so I stepped up with the help of some active members (because all the other mods at that time had disappeared) and got things rolling again. When I kinda took the guild's reins I tried to evolve it and revamp so that whenever a mod or someone leaves, the guild won't have to die and go into some weird long awkward phase like we've done before. Another former Head, Angil thought of the idea of Professor Adonis as a guild figurehead, which makes transitions easier of course. We haven't used Towns in so long unfortunately.... we even have the idea for Common Rooms in towns, but the guild has never been stable enough to make that happen. We'll probably revisit that idea for Pajama Rama though.... We don't have conversations in here because the mods are always ignored in here. We ask, ask, and ASK for member feedback and input.... we just don't get it... so oh well. Most of the discussion is between the mods because the ideas come from the mods.... which pretty much sucks because in things like riddles/trivia/etc, mods can't participate because they already know the answers. The Chamber is one heck of a hectic place... I'm hoping others will step up and give input again, which is why I moved the discussiosn about that event here. Yes, Chocolate Frogs, that's not something I'm ever going to advocate because well there's really no time. If we had more members who were as 'dedicated' as they were back then, it would be possible. I've been talking about HPGoG to her a lot so i'm sure she's already been majorly tempted.
That's such a bummer that people don't participate, cause you know, it's good to know what's in the works, and where we can offer help, but I can definitely understand how disappointing and frustrating it can be if nobody offers their assistance.
As for the Chocolate Frog Cards... I was just wondering about it, cause I'm going to be coming into a lot of free time, with summer approaching, and I think they would be a fun little project, (probably with a bit of Katie's help), and interviewing the older mods, and then the current students and such about teachers to write their bios. Just something I was contemplating on the back burner biggrin
On a different freaky note, remember DevilsDarkAngel? It turns out that, Katie and I know him in RL, through color guard, and we have had NO IDEA, I just figured it out yesterday...

I think I will be ok with that Icee. If I get stuck thinking of a clue, I can always PM one of the mods for help as long as they aren't playing the seeker position. ^^ I looked for the stands thread and couldn't find it; I'll go look again. Could we change it slightly this year, and have maybe 4 snitches rather than two (worth less points to balance it out)? I think two isn't that many at all. Or is it a problem if there is more than one out at a time, even if I keep the clues separate?

Agreed totally with Lyra. I've already wrote you a few novels today, so I'll reply to everything else another time ^_^ yes you are. Here it is Lyra There wasn't alot of participation for the avatar contest last year, so I'll say no. Besides we'll probably do an avatar contest for House Spirit Week in the Fall. there's an idea brewing now that should get some excitement and participation going ^_^ but we definitely need something else too. No idea! We can definitely have suggestions now... Last year we did Romania and Belgium. I love those colors, but since you're the first person actually providing feedback why don't you choose a country?

Hmm at first thought it's nothing something I'm against or for, but after rethinking it, I like that idea. It would keep the Seekers busy. Maybe release one a week until the 4 weeks is up? As long as you remember where they are so you can remove them when the event is over. Juni also offered a side contest last year for Seekers and nonSeekers. Adonis' gold supply is actually getting low now, so there's no way we can do that unless we get some serious donations. I'm funding the Top Student contests right now, and I don't want to deplete myself too much

But then maybe, just because I love the name and the accent that goes with it, Croatia.....
Of course if we're feeling silly, we could go with Azerbaijan, cause it's fun to say.... wink
But then part of me wants to vote Ireland, but that's just because I'm part Irish...so forget that... haha.

Lyra, would you like some help with the Snitches? I'm not going to sign up for doing it again because last time I literally looked at the computer screen until my eyes where ready to pop put of my head. Luckily I found them all but I went out like Krum, still didn't win even though I caught all the Snitches. Anyway I was thinking of being a Chaser this time around so maybe I could help with Snitches, I definitely can pitch in gold, so that wouldn't be a problem at all.
As for how many Snitches to released, I think it's just something that will depend on activity. Juni did it last time like that because so many other things were going on and everything was very active at first then slowed down. I think if there would have been more actively she may have released another.
Viva-Tell KT I said Hi too. I was here back when the guild was first starting up though I was only a House-elf at the time and didn't rp but I gotta out of that fast once I meet friends here. I tried messaging her a bunch of times to her e-mail and Pm when I got back onto Gaia after leaving for a while of being sick. When I asked about KT no one knew anything. Long story shot, we miss her.
As for a county, well there are many to pick from but if you look in hp lexicon you can see a list of all the teams and what countries they are in and etc.
