Ally12908 I play the flute, before school starts again i gotta get it repaired because some idiot stepped on it scream Also its really old and keeps getting leaks crying Flutes are so expensive and last time i got it repaired it cost $60 gonk 60$ isn't that bad for a repair O.o Or at least, in my opinion. x3 Then again I <3 my flute to death, so ya, I would pay anything to keep it working. And damnit, I've had my Armstrong plateau key student model for four years now, and I have to sell it so I can finish buying my new flute off of my friend. (See my post on previous page) For some reason, it's just going to be sad parting with it.

My flute came yesterday!!!!!! Since I don't have a method book to look at yet (and I'm teaching myself), I just took an online fingering chart and some easy music I found and tried to play them.
My parents are going to take it to a local music store next week whilst I am at camp, to get it tuned up and the such.

Hey all. smile I've been playing flute for almost 6 years now and it's my eternal love. heart I marched it last year, didn't care for marching it too much, but I love playing in symphonic. I'm supposedly getting an open-hole this year for my 16th birthday, and I'm crossing my fingers.

I apparently have to take my flute in AGAIN to get it fixed. This time apparently there's something wrong with the...corkkkk is it? xD I forgot. Anyway, the...thingy in the head join, and I have to go get it checked out because my flute is HORRIBLY flat, and it's not ME, and I can't do anything else with my flute to make it sound better.
But we checked it out with the thingy that's supposed to say if it's good or not, and it said it was fine...No idea what's up with that, but I need to go get it checked out...today, actually, because this weekend is just a small break from band camp.

Hey everyone!! ^_^ I'm a flute, too! I haven't posted in ages, so I felt like posting now. I'm off to band camp next week!!!
Anyway, I've been playing since just before the sixth grade. (a very long time!!) And I play in the school band and the marching band.
Our marching band is seriously beast!!!! We really are. And I'm not just saying that because it's my band.
Okay, back to the flute. I love my flute!!!! ^__^ I actually have two! One is my student flute. I use it for marching band. It's name is Charlie.
And I have my second level flute. I use it for concert band. It's lovely. It has the b foot key, open hole, a gidget, and silver plated head joint. It's beautiful and it has a beautiful sound! ^_______^

At the left end if you're holding your flute in playing position. I found that out by accident when mine got so loose it fell out. cool

If you unscrew the screw at the top of the flute, you'll see either cork or there will be a little metal plate and then the cork will be under the little plate. Generally if you have a cleaning rod, there will be little lines on the blunt end of it. If you put the cleaning rod's blunt end up into the head joint, the line on the end of the rod should be in the middle of the blow hole. I'll see if I can find a picture, hang on...

Ya, I need to get my new flute tuned. I knew about the test thing long ago and I tried it and it was quite a bit off. But otherwise I can compensate by pushing in or pulling out the headjoint.

In extreme cases of flatiness or sharpiness. razz One day, I pulled my headjoint all the way out, and played Cantabile et Presto, and then I pushed it all the way in and played it again, and it was like two keys higher. It was so funny.
