[Mapleleaf blinked, still crouching beside Embergaze as she awaited his....awakening? Return? Mapleleaf shook her head, in a futile effort to shake the confusion. She returned to grooming Oakpaw, her green eyes flicking between Embergaze and Oakpaw, spitting out tufts of fur matted with blood, sand, dirt, and filth. She remained vigilant in her work, not stopping until Oakpaw's fur shined like it was supposed to.] ____________________________________________

[Embergaze flicked his ears.]
"No, I'm not dead," he said, shaking his head. ((lol RHYME.)) "And neither are you. Right now, we're inside your head."
[In regards to her last question, Embergaze chuckled.]
"Yeah. Galestar made you my apprentice. We're both certain StarClan accepted it."
[He gently flicked his tail over to her flank, chuckling.]
"We were all worried. Everyone gathered around you when Mapleleaf and I brought you home. They're still waiting."
[His soft fiery gaze rested on her, again waiting for an answer.]
(( HURR. Ironically enough, Oakpaw's the only one he feels comfy around. 8D ))

[Falconstrike lifted his head and growled fiercely, but Larkcry was already out of the den.]

[He thought in irritation as he climbed to his paws, shaking bits of moss from his pelt. Oakpaw was still lying in the center of the clearing, with cats surrounding her. Sighing in defeat, Falconstrike decided to check out how she was doing.]
"Is she awake yet? Or dead yet?"

How does one become their best but by battling through their past? "You mean they aren't... angry with me for leaving? Not even Sweetmoon?" [The news was a shock to her. Embergaze's apprentice? She was an apprentice? They were worried about her? They were waiting for her? What had she done to deserve their love?] [Softheart materialized next to Embergaze, filling the clearing with his sweet scent. He mrewed in good humor, prancing over to her and rubbing her side with his head.] "You got your wish, OakPAW! You're an apprentice to the best warrior in the clan!" He mewed into her ears, at ease now that she was finally making progress in returning to her own realm. He just couldn't bear it if her guilt forced her to join him before her time. It wasn't even her fault! The cats of Starclan had shown him that he had been horribly sick from the moment of his first breath. There had been nothing anyone could have done, but Oakpaw had tried, and that was all that mattered. [Oakpaw looked at her brother with sad eyes.] "I'll miss you if I leave." "Oh, silly Oakpaw, who said I'd leave you! I'll come to visit you LOTS. And I'll train right next to you! So train hard!" He mrewed in laughter. "I think you'll be too busy to worry too much. The clan really is concerned! Mappleleaf just finished cleaning your fur. You really aught to thank her. You were a MESS!" [Oakpaw's eyes flicked back to Embergaze, once again looking concerned.] "Will I be bigger than the other apprentices since I'm so much older?" [her eyes screwed up in worry at the thought. She had been fine waiting to be apprenticed, but she'd been gone for moons! A couple moons difference was much more worry-worthy to her than one or two! "I mean... how old am I even?" She could hear Softheart's chuckles and snorts at her question. "Uh, Oak? You're old as dirt and you're only fit for the elder's den. Snap out of it! I think your biggest worry will be getting HOME!"

[Icemane crouched and slowly stalked a mouse hidden in the slight shrubbery. Once it was in leaping distance, he crouched and leaped with precision, though barely, catching the mouse and making the kill. He looked at Frostclaw.] "Nice catch! About ready to head back?" [ Icemane swiveled his head around and gazed at the area. ' Quite pretty really...']

[Embergaze nodded, feeling a little confused at the larger Softkit. He knew the kit had grown, but still.]
"He's right, Oakpaw," Embergaze said, grinning. "All you have to do is come with me. Nobody forgot you or your brother. We've been waiting, hoping, for so long. Because you are BreezeClan cats, and you will always be that. You have done nothing to earn our hate. In fact quite the opposite."
[Embergaze took a few steps back, his skinny tail swishing gently to beckon her.]
"Come, Oakpaw. Your brother will always be with you. He wants you to get what you deserve, and be happy. "

How does one become their best but by battling through their past? [With one last farewell to her brother, Oakpaw pranced off after her mentor, Embergaze.] Now he's saved both of us, Oak thought to herself. She wondered how close she'd come to death and was that much more grateful to this cat. What had it taken for him to follow her into the spirit dream? [The forest around her slowly faded into the forest of a regular dream. In the waking world Oakpaw's fever finally broke, and her shivering finally died down and her breathing stabled as her body settled down for a long sleep of recovery.] ((Thanks, Timber and Embergaze! Oakpaw owes you big time!))

M a p l e l e a f "Stand up for what you believe in; otherwise, you will be trampled on by those who don't."____________________________________ [Mapleleaf gave Oakpaw's ear one final lick, and then pressed her nose to the small cat's flank. She let out a shaky breath when she found her breathing slow and steady, sleeping. Mapleleaf stepped back, letting out a small purr. She pressed her tail to Joypaw's jaws, silencing her.]
"Joypaw, hush. Let Oakpaw rest," Mapleleaf whispered, then she turned and faced Falconstrike, dipping her head. "She's asleep. I don't know when she'll wake up, but she's recovering," Mapleleaf countered.
[She turned and padded out from the crowded den, and gulped in the fresh air eagerly. She sat back on her haunches and recalled what she just said. She had sounded like Iceears! Mapleleaf chuckled, then turned to see Iceears forcing her way in.]
((Hey, somebody needs to control Iceears. Ice is gone, and no one's taken her over.)) ____________________________________________

[Embergaze led the young apprentice, back, back away from the shadowy forest and towards the open moorland.
Slowly, he opened his glowing orange eyes. He yawned, showing his sharp fangs. Turning, he saw Mapleleaf leave. He stood, thinking he should go after her, but stayed, hoping Oakpaw might wake up.
Tail twitching, he blinked. It was nice to have his apprentice back. She had waited for him to be a warrior. This time, he waited for her to come home. And, finally, there they were, finally mentor and apprentice, despite everything that had happened.

She nudged through the cats, nudging some out of the way. She sat beside Embergaze, her eyes narrowed worriedly.]
"Iceears? Will Oakpaw be okay?" Mapleleaf asked, her green eyes filled with concern.
Iceears turned on her. "She will if everyone gave me some room!" the medicine cat hissed, though her eyes danced with humor.
[Mapleleaf nodded, then watched silently as the cats filed out. She flicked Embergaze's shoulder as Iceears flicked her tail at them.]
"You too, Embergaze. She'll be fine, no need to worry," Iceears mewed to Embergaze, though her eyes were locked on Oakpaw as she pressed wet moss to her lips, encouraging her to drink.
((Guys, I'm no medicine cat, but Iceears needed to say something. Would anyone mind taking her over?)) ____________________________________________

Larkcry carefully avoided the commotion with Oakpaw. Glancing at Embergaze, she sighed. I'll learn to live without him. But he'll always have a piece of my heart. If only he knew that. She sadly, turned her thoughts to hunting. "Joypaw, Birdsong. Would you like to accompany me? I'm going hunting."
I'm finding feelings I can't retain.
