Diego painted one of his signature moves -- Crunch. A black, menacing ten-foot tall canine erupted from his tail as if it had a life of its own. Its jaws dripped paint as they gnashed in the air. M.A., who Milton had thrust across the room, whimpered slightly. She didn't know what else she could do. As she watched the jaws -- as if in slow motion -- they were made of paint, but she knew they were as sharp as the real deal, she'd seen Diego's realism in action -- close in, she thought how it was bullshit that life flashed across your eyes, there just wasn't enough time. All she felt was a desperate yearning for her brother, her father, for Daemyn, for Ulani, for Tora, her family.
It was time. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, cleared her foggy, disoriented mind of everything save for a distant sense of anticipation. And then --
She was inside the black mass of paint, although she could still see out. The paint canine roared, as if in success in capturing its prey, when M.A. was definitely left intact. Diego, looking straight up at her, gave a weak smile. Mary-Anne realized, slowly -- she wasn't a very bright gal, you know, and her head was still banging from that last impact -- that Diego was finding a way to let her escape. M.A. would have felt relieved, but a part of her brain panicked -- wait, Diego looked so resolute, there, was he staying here? Why was she letting herself be saved, again? Was she really a good for nothing trainer? M.A. clawed and flailed in the black nothingness, but was too afraid to shout, too afraid to face that madman again, and hated herself for it. Why was she so half-hearted with everything? Couldn't save herself, or save her Pokemon... Apparently Diego had a tight grasp on what he was doing despite M.A.'s physical protest, and Milton could not see from the outside M.A.'s flailing. The paint beast began to pace, inconspicuously edging for the door --
When suddenly the whole beast collapsed on itself in a rain of paint. M.A., drenched in the black liquid, looked over dazedly at Diego, not knowing what to expect. Diego was still standing there, though he, too, seemed just as dazed as she. He keeled over, to reveal that Milton had stabbed him quite viciously with a jagged piece of the easel's leg. "Ah, I knew you had gotten soft, my friend," Milton said, somewhat sadly. He removed the easel from his back with a little resistance; the thing hadn't been thin enough to pierce too far, but it had been jammed in pretty forcefully. Milton propped Diego up against the wall. "Don't worry, my friend. I'll be back, for the both of us."
"Now, you..." he said, smiling sweetly at the girl who was sitting quite awkwardly in a puddle of black paint. The fire had crept into this room by now, too, and Diego watched blankly as the flames rimmed the side of his vision.
Milton reached his scrawny fingers out for M.A., his skin broken from grasping that broken piece of wood for so long, and M.A. was thinking that this was all too much, that she couldn't care less any more, she was far too tired and her head was falling off, she was sure. Sorry Dad, sorry Saebum, sorry Daemyn --
Well speak of that damn devil. Expected time of arrival was a bit late, and by expected I mean it was quite predictable, I'm afraid, but so it goes. Daemyn wouldn't have stood for having no airtime, you know, being so haughty and all. But bear with us; this overstated drama will be dissolved quite shortly, ashes to ashes.

Jett finally made his way to the PokeCenter, thankfully empty, and gently placed the Pokeballs on the counter. He turned, watching Leon enter, and an idea struck him out of nowhere.
"You're going to beat all the gym leaders, aren't you?" he asked, strolling up to the other. "Well, so am I!" Jett utterly ignored the fact that his question probably had not been answered and continued on. "So why don't we travel together? Hoenn's kinda a big place and being alone sucks and we'd make one hell of a team." Now he paused, a half-smile present upon his face. He didn't even consider the possibility of being rejected, and the boy waited, arms folded over his chest.

"Thanks," Jake said once his Pokemon were back in his possession, and he moved out of the way so that he wasn't blocking the path to the counter. He put the two Pokeballs in his aviator jacket pocket, having decided that he'd figure out a way to get it cleaned soon enough. He also wasn't sure what his next move would be, as he hadn't anticipated anything past route 202. He glanced up idly as he heard some girl shouting across the lobby, his gaze coming to rest on a girl with long, red hair and an outfit that didn't leave very much to the imagination - a bikini top and a pair of very short shorts. She was heading in his direction, and again he moved to get out of her way, as the fact that she was talking to him didn't even really cross his mind until he realized that she'd been trying to get his attention.
Jake blinked and looked down at her as she stopped directly in front of him, beaming up at him with a smile that was so bright it was nearly blinding. "Uh, yeah, long time no see," he answered awkwardly, shifting the few sandwiches and pieces of fruit in his arms, finding it rather difficult to focus on anything but her tiny Daisy Dukes and the fact that she seemed to know him. "How are... things?" he added, not entirely sure on the rules of etiquette regarding scantily clad girls he couldn't remember.

Grinning as Jaeshan seemed to remember her Robin giggled good naturedly. "Things are going great! I got my first Sinnoh gym badge yesterday." Robin was very proud of her victory over Roark, that had been a hard fought and won gym battle and it made her feel happy just thinking about it. Robin frowned though as she looked at the cute blond in front of her. "I thought you weren't coming over to Sinnoh yet." It wasn't that big of a deal though, he was here now and she was happy to see him. "Oh well! I am glad your here now!" Grinning she put one arm around his shoulder and pulled him a bit over so they could talk not in the middle of the room and Robin could keep an eye on Black*Star.
The small Totodile looked up at the boy with a frown on his face. The blond was taking attention away from him! His trainer should be focused on him and not this stranger. Growling up at his trainer he watched as she glanced down at him and grinned.
"Sorry I didn't introduce you. This is Black*Star." Robin motioned down to the Totodile who looked happy that the attention was back on him. "You didn't meet him when I met you the first time. He is super cool and strong. Though your pokemon are really strong to." They were strong to, she remembered how powerful his Combusken was when they had that mock battle with her and Luffy. "So what have you been up to since the beach party?"

Once all of her Pokemon were more or less acquainted with one another, Riza recalled all of them, ignoring the angry cries of protest from Eris as the Quilava was returned to her poke ball. Now that they were all fed, the next thing on her agenda was shopping, as not only was her outfit still in dire need of an update, but her battle with Fantina yesterday had given her a few ideas. She went to the poke mart first, reminding herself that her Pokemon were more important than her wardrobe, checking her Pokedex as she went inside. The place was virtually empty save for the cashier, who seemed surprised to see a customer in here so early. He watched Riza suspiciously as she browsed the shelves, Pokedex still in hand.
It took longer than she liked but she eventually found what she was looking for, though she couldn't help but feel a twinge of annoyance when she realized it would cost slightly more than what she had set aside for TM shopping. Either she'd have to dip into her clothing fund or find something to sell, and that's when she recalled the Shockwave TM she'd won from Lt. Surge. Yula already knew how to use Thunderbolt and she didn't think the move suited any of her other Pokemon. 'I'll have to remember to thank Fantina for this one,' she thought as she took her purchase to the front counter. Selling her TM34 and buying the TM30 would leave her with $1,300 which was better off than she thought she would be.
Once she was finished at the poke mart she headed to the cute little clothing boutique she'd discovered last night when she and Shiro were searching for a place to eat. There were so many different outfits to choose from, and Riza could have easily spent the better part of her day in here. She ended up letting Akima out of her poke ball as the Sneasel had a strangely decent sense of fashion and would also help to keep them on schedule. After about an hour or so of picking out things to try on, they settled on an ensemble they both agreed on. The upper half of her outfit was almost the same as the shirt she'd been wearing before, only it was a slightly different design. It was form fitting and black and still featured a white bow in front. Akima had picked out a nice off-white skirt with what effectively was a built in black belt (that conveniently held poke balls too), with black trim and a slit up either side that stopped about an inch or so above her knee. She also ditched her stockings altogether, deciding to go with ankle socks and black leather boots that gave her several more inches she didn't need. Looks wise all she needed now was a trip to the salon and she'd be good to go.

"Sinnoh gym badge?" Jake repeated, almost stupidly. Other than the aspects of his 'other life,' as he'd come to call it, that was probably one of the first things he'd heard today that sounded completely foreign to him. Apparently though, he was in a place called Sinnoh, and he absentmindedly allowed the girl to pull him so they were no longer in the center of the room, quietly wondering if there was a chance that she could have mistaken him for someone else. "Yeah, I really don't know what I'm doing here," he replied, though the fact that she was surprised to see him here was intriguing. "Hello, Black*Star," he added, glancing down at the small blue gator, wondering if that had been the thing making that awful growling noise, though it had stopped momentarily while the focus was on it. He was honestly having a difficult time keeping up with the girl as she chattered away, as his mind kept wandering away from their conversation. He looked back at her with the utmost seriousness as she mentioned his Pokemon being strong, and without meaning to, he laughed out loud. "Yeah, they're... something," he chuckled, though for some reason his mind was suddenly bombarded by images of a scary, canine-looking creature with shaggy black fur and gleaming fangs and a purple butterfly with white and black wings. They seemed very familiar yet alien at the same time, and he shook his head, trying to rid himself of the images. They'd been too blurry to form a clear picture, and he wondered if they'd been real memories, or something made up by his subconscious. "What beach party?" he asked before he could stop himself. He looked back at the redheaded girl again, his blue eyes cold and dull. A part of him wanted to tell her to just leave him a lone, but a bigger, more stubborn part of him was begging her to stay, as perhaps she could provide some insight as to who he really was.

Looking up at Jaeshan Robin frowned at him for a moment before placing her hands on her hips thinking with her limited brain power. Something was up with Jae, she didn't know him that well its true but this was strange. Oh well, maybe he was just tired or came from a tough battle or something. "What beach party? Oh your so funny! Remember that big bash a little while ago? We had a lot of fun and there was that weird attack thing by that guy in the orange suit." Robin waved her hand dismissively. "Ah well, I don't know what all the details are and they probably aren't that important." Laughing Robin clapped him on the back and grinned at him. "So what are you up to now that your in Sinnoh? Your doing the gym challenge right? You had a bunch of them when I met you." Robin was sure that is what his earlier confusion was on the gym badge thing. Maybe he didn't know Sinnoh had gyms? That had to be it. Nodding to herself she grinned over at Jaeshan. "I am heading back over to Oreburg right now. You wanna come? You can challenge Roark if you want to. He's tough though so look out." Though Jaeshan was tough, he probably wouldn't have a lot of problems if he used his really strong pokemon. Then again it wasn't really a satisfying victory if you just overwhelmed your opponent if they couldn't use their stronger pokemon.

Mahnaz was sititng in the PokeCenter, waiting for Maipe to come back. She looked at a train schedule and decided that it was more feasible to go down to Vermillion and wait down there for a ferry.
More importantly, I need a friend to go with me, wherever that is. This isn't the best idea I've had, but it'll work. She looked up as a young man walked towards her, every bit of 18.
"Excuse me, I couldn't help but see that you're heading out of town. May I ask where you're heading?" He asked politely.
"I'm going to Vermillion right now, once I get my Growlithe back," Mahnaz said calmly. "Would you care to join us on our trip?"
"Why yes, I would. Sounds like fun, but I may not continue the journey with you, depending on where this ends up." He bowed, then sat next to her. "I'm Markus, by the way."
"Mahnaz," she answered, unsure. The nurse walked out as did Maipe. "Glad to see your okay Maipe."
"Growl," he said happily, then turned towards the strange man and snarled. "Growl."
"He's gonna join us Maipe. For a little while." Mahnaz sighed, then sat up. "Let's go; I wanna be in Vermillion by nightfall." She walked outside with her Growlithe on her heels, Markus not far behind. She hopped on her bike, seeing the guy had a similar bike, and started pedaling towards the south entrance.

Amy had grown slightly dazed, watching people pass by, and she had instructed Flora to tell her if she saw anyone interesting. Sometimes, that Chikorita had a better sense of people than her trainer.
So Amy shouldn't have been that surprised when Flora burst off the bench and charged. But she was. "F-flora! Wait!"
Marshall remained on the bench for a moment, let out a cheerful "Woopah!", and gleefully followed.
The Chikorita headed straight for a girl who emerged from a store with a Sneasel, chirping happily as she skidded to a stop. Amy stumbled forward, followed by her cheerful Wooper, and stared at the girl.
"I-I'm so sorry," Amy stammered, picking up Flora. "I don't know what got into her..."
"Chiko!" Flora responded somewhat indignantly, before beaming straight at the person she assumed was a trainer of some sorts. Definitely interesting, the Chikorita noted happily.
"U-um," Amy murmured, shifting Flora to one arm as politeness got the best of her. "I'm Amy. I like your Pokemon!"

“Alright,” Crush said in a laidback and satisfied tone, as he drew out his pokeball and through into the air. “C’mon out, Kalikea.”
In a flash, the corsola stood on the arena floor blushing profusely as it realized it was center stage in a gym battle. It tried to cover its face in embarrassment.
“La la la la.” She cooed abashedly.
“Now, c’mon Kali,” Crush said encouragingly. “I know you can do it. Let’s teach this Sheila about what the waves do to rocks.”
“I think that was the point,” Venerax said with a smirk as he watched his beedrill circle above the sneasel. He called out to her. “You started Calistra! I hope you can finish it!”
”Bzz!” Calistra punched her right stinger into the air. Then like a Fokker fighter plane she barrelled from the sky towards the sneasel, both its stingers out for a twin needle attack.
“Well, here we go,” The gambler chuckled. He hadn’t used Calistra in a battle since he caught her. This is one way to test her merit.
Booky was disappointed as his playmate was confiscated. Though glad he did get hit by the lightning that had begun to arc off the electric pokémon’s back. Then its attention was turned to the impending duel between Calistra and Ikoume. “Hoo hoo.”
Cal arrived just in time to see the beginning of the fight. It moved beside its trainer quirking its head as the two Pokémon prepared to collide. ”Understood,” A nod to the directions from the com. “We will observe for the time being.”

The salon would wait for now, as Riza called ahead to book herself an appointment later in the afternoon, which meant that now it was time for her to get in some more last minute training. Akima was still eagerly walking along at her trainer's side, feeling just as excited for the contest as Riza was. Riza had been pondering where they could go and work on their combinations and moves when she heard the sound of tiny feet racing towards her, though by the time she'd turned to take a look, Akima was already standing protectively in front of her, her claws twitching ever so slightly as she watched the tiny green blob get scooped up by her apparent trainer.
"Relax, Akima," Riza said sharply, giving the Sneasel a solid tap on the head with a single finger. The dark and ice-type relaxed a bit, taking a step back so that she was even with her trainer. "It's all right," Riza said, nodding to the Chikorita. "She wasn't bothering us. And thanks, I'm Riza, this is Akima," she said, pointing to the Sneasel. * * * * * Roxanne couldn't help but smile at the sight of the Corsola, and she wondered to herself how challengers would react to the dual water and rock-type. She wasn't shocked by the fact that the surfer boy had at least one water-type with him, probably more. Even still, she had to try to defend her gym, even when the odds were stacked against her. That, and she liked his laid back and calm outlook.
"Well Geodude, let's do what we can," she said, nodding to the Rock Pokemon. "Start off with a Rock Polish." Geodude nodded and tucked her arms in, her usually rough and rocky outsides smoothing out quite a bit to greatly enhance her mobility.

"It's nice to meet you," Amy smiled, and she offered the same smile to Akima. She'd only seen pictures of Sneasels, and Ice-types would be such a wonderful addition for a contest...
"Woopah," Marshall said, padding to stand beside Amy. He offered the two new ones his widest grin and an energetic "Woop!"
"Chiko," Flora grumbled, shooting Amy a slight glare.
"Oh!" Amy said, glancing at her Pokemon. "This here's Flora, and that's Marshall." She adjusted her glasses and smiled again. "I-I don't mean to be intrusive... but are you a trainer...?" Or possibly a coordinator...? she finished in her head, but that specific question would be very... odd, coming from a stranger.
Flora abruptly leapt from Amy's arms to land gently beside her Water-type companion, spilling some of Amy's items as she did so. The Ribbon Case tumbled to the ground with a sharp clatter. "Oh! Excuse me." Amy swiftly crouched down to retrieve her case, catching Flora's sheepish look while she did so. Then she rose back to full height and politely awaited for the other girl's answer.

It was safe to say that Riza was far more interested in the Chikorita than the Wooper, as she was already visualizing the types of attacks a grass-type could utilize for appeals. Akima watched the two new Pokemon curiously, occasionally looking up at the girl. The round thingys she wore over her eyes intrigued the Sneasel. She wanted nothing more than to jump up and take them, and try them on for herself, but she knew if she did that, Riza would be very upset with her and she would be confined to her poke ball for quite some time.
Riza nodded, keeping a careful eye on the Sneasel. "Yes, I'm a trainer," she said, not paying too much attention to the items that had spilled on the ground, though the Ribbon Case did catch her eye, and she smiled. A potential rival, perhaps? "A Coordinator, in fact. I'm entering the Cerulean Contest tonight, and I'm going to win it," she said matter-of-factly. In truth Riza was feeling pretty confident. She really didn't know if she would win or not, but it couldn't hurt to show her competition that she meant business.
"Sneasel, snee!" Akima shrieked, easily as psyched as her trainer. She sliced the air with her sharp claws, practically overflowing with excess energy.

"A coordinator?" Amy's smile widened broadly, though she felt a pang of sadness at the last comment. "I'm one, too! Tonight's gonna be my debut... though I probably won't win." She smiled lightly, knowing and somewhat accepting the likelihood of her first contest with a level 15 Chikorita not being her first win.
The Chikorita in question stared curiously at Akima, noticing her fascination with Amy's glasses. The Grass-type chirped happily, introducing herself directly to the Pokemon. "Chikorita!"
"Are you off to do training or shopping or preparing for tonight?" Amy asked, shouldering her bag once more. "I wouldn't want to waste your time..." Oh, but how she wanted to just talk about appeals and moves and contests for hours and hours. But perhaps, she could meet up with Riza before the contest, and congratulate her after. This girl seemed confident, and that Sneasel alone would be tough to beat! The Maple girl could only wonder what other Pokemon the fellow coordinator had...

Mia tugged on the goggles, grateful for their generosity. "Thank you!" she replied to the little rock that handed her the spectacles. A vicious sandstorm was now brewing, and visibility was incredibly low. The sand and dirt was kicked up all over from the arena, swirling and blasting every which way, probably hitting the Cranidos as well, though doing it no damage.
Tangela was whipped by the sand, and it stung! It really hurt, stupid dirt! It lacked any and all nutrition too! It was soooo worthless! The Grass type frowned, clearly unhappy with the unkind conditions in the arena. She just wanted to get the heck out of there and share some of her wonderful trivia and odd knowledge.
"Hang in their Tangela!" Mia replied, trying to soothe her now invisible Pokemon. Blindly attack now would be pretty foolish as the Cranidos probably had a clear view of everything that was going on while neither Mia nor Jello did. But the sandstorm was kicking and it gave the Gym Leader's daughter an idea.
"Jello, blast a lot of your Stun Spore into the sandstorm. We'll try and paralyze that Pokemon!" Mia issued. Jello complied. She shook her body violently, unleashing a large dust of shimmering yellow powder into the sky. The sandstorm quickly picked it up, distributing it wherever the sandstorm traveled.

Gardenia smiled, fully expecting Noa to have dodge a projectile attack. She was a quick little birdie. A quick thing that needed to be slowed down. "Roserade! Use your Rain Dance!" the leader called out, another smile spreading across her lips. It was one of the most useful attacks that she had ever taught her Pokemon, especially when it came to those pesky Fire types that trainers loved so much.
Roserade nodded, raising her twin bouquets to the sky, calling the rain forth. The once sunny sky quickly turned ominous and dark. Clouds quickly ran across the sky, hiding the beautiful sun from their eyes. Even plants needed the cooling effect of rain water from time to time. Suki the judge quickly handed Katie a spare umbrella to the challenger, giving her the option of staying dry. She too held one above her head.
And just like that, the rain started to pour. It was a heavy down pour, not a light and crisp sprinkle. The trees and bushes and even the grass in the forest like gym seemed to chirp and move with delight as the drops fell from the sky and into the ground, nourishing their bodies. Just as they needed the sunlight, they also needed the rain. Gardenia smirked, wondering what Katie and her Staravia would do. A bird with wet wings couldn't fly that well after all. Roserade nodded, returning to a defense position, making sure to block or dodge the next oncoming attack, should there be one. "Can't wait to see how you get out of this one Katie!" the Grass Gym Leader winked.
