You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

Raedou's face met a mud-barf ball, but by this time he had gotten used to the smell. He was too busy wiping the mud from his visor to notice that Pondy had just been eaten. He had no idea that this had happened.

"Where..." he mumbled, "...is the little forest spirit? Has she said my riddle yet?"

If past events did not prove that Raedou was obviously too old to be a knight, this moment definitely made things painfully clear.

-----

Ralendine slept quietly... while standing. One seeing him at a glance would think that he was watching the sea, but this was not so. However, he twitched in his sleep at the sound of Remedius's laughter. It was... very annoying.

-----

Many strange creatures stalked the forest... Mostly the infamous Mandragora, a plant-like beast that could put it's victim to sleep with the soothing sounds it made It would then feast on the victim's bodily fluids... And five or six of them had ambushed the three mages, leaping out of the bushes and closing in on them.

Dasher's stomach flopped upside-down. He had to help them!

-----

Perrault gulped and dove down the slide after Myrrelda. As he went down, it grew from scary to... insanely fun. Soon enough, the elven boy was laughing and giggling, raising his arms in the air, watching the pillars and strange artifacts speed by as he descended. It was a fascinating and very enjoyable experience.

-----

Diine nodded his head and turned to flee toward the skiff, bursting a nearby attacking Horde beast into flames with his magic. Tida was cowering behind Clem. As Clem fought the Horde beasts, certain feelings swelled up inside her as she watched him... Could this be... no. She shook her head and tried to concentrate on the situation at hand.

((Tida is with Ephlas and co.))

((Ephlas, Clem, Horde-creature, and Tida arrived. Ephlas left by himself, diving down into the sand for who-knows-why.

Then Dakon arrived with Diine, Aria, and Vinn. I just realized this. Ima go edit real quick.))

Farfarello nudged the edge of the pond with his foot. "Weird," he said in an undertone, thinking that, had he known all it took to get rid of Pondy was to get her out of the pond, hed've had a bit more fun with her first.

"Eh?" Raedou looked at the demon. "What happened, bean sprout? Where is the girl?"

Farfarello eyed the Ganzi oddly. "She... just left," he said simply. "And I think we can leave as well," the demon glanced at where the barrier used to be. He scooped up the giant egg under his arm, preparing to leave.

Jaeto caught on very quickly to Farfarello's train of thought, and edged toward his beloved halberd, which he was happy to note could be retrieved. "I say... we get the h- heck," Jaeto altered his sentence for Far's sake, "out of here."

Jaeto quickly dragged the remaining log out of the forest and into the clearing. They could camp still, and sensible Raedou would probably enforce this, but Jaeto--as a knight and not an experienced traveler--just wanted to leave. Badly.

Jaeto's thoughtful altering of words went unnoticed on the demon, who merely thought that the knight had stuttered. He nodded at Jaeto's last statement, beginning to make his way back to the caravan where he belonged, which he didn't quite realize he felt.

Raedou shrugged and trudged after the other two caravaneers. He was pondering, until the egg in Farfarello's arms caught his attention.

"Oi! Bean sprout." he called, "What is that in your arms?"

"Supper?" Jaeto questioned hopefully, now that the two had deigned to catch up with him. Once again, Jaeto experienced a feeling similar to that of deja vu, in which he began to recognize a certain semblance in Raedou and Farfarello's relationship... that mirrored his own with Raedou. Once upon a time long ago.

"Food." The demon plainly answered. "Don't worry; I have some for you around here somewhere..." He searched around for his pile of grass and leaves (complete with poison ivy). "Ah, there it is," he precariously repositioned the egg into the crook of his elbow and gathered up as much of the green 'stuff' as he could carry.

Being no environmentalist, naturalist, or wildlife expert of any kind, Jaeto unfortunately could not point out for Farfarello that he was indeed carrying poison ivy, and was too tired and ready for camp (and also wanting to get as far away from their current location as possible) to bother with noticing, in any case.

Jaeto returned to the caravan, to find....

...That Calisto had murdered the entire troup in their sleep!!

...That Calisto was wide awake and in no way a murderer, though she was irritably hungry. Other than that, she felt a small twinge of sorrow for Perrault's grim fate.

Seeing that he had left Farfarello and Raedou a small bit behind, and Hashmal was dragging some giant boar-like creature back to their camp (although she was still in the distance, and moving slow at that), Jaeto sat down on a bench across the fire--or where one would go in a minute--and stared at Calisto.

"Hey," he said softly, "you OK? We'll be in Eopia soon... civilization, food, bed, showers...."
