Ryka smiled at Kassie. She then looked up at Lt. Surge. "Nice to meet you too, sir." She replied. "Well, no, not really.." She answered him sheepishly. "Seth is really good, though. His Pokemon are very impressive." She said, turning her attention to Seth.

"Likewise and thanks." Seth said. He briefly watched the two Pokemon play until he had heard his name. "Me? Oh no!" Seth said not use to so much attention when he was off stage. "I'm just a Pokemon coordinator," he stated. "Although I would love a match with you sir, but I have no other badges."

"Heh," was all Surge said, and he unlocked the gym door and stepped inside. Kasiya followed, Raichu and Shocker right on her heels.

Seth followed in suit slightly confused. He hoped that Surge would allow him a match. This battle will decide wheter or not I battle gyms or not.

"Would you let Seth battle you, Dad?" Kasiya asked, picking up Shocker and cuddling her. She didn't want to push the issue, but she knew it was very unlike her father to turn down a challenge.
"I don't see why not," he said, crossing his arms and looking at his daughter's Pikachu. "You still haven't evolved the runt, eh?" he chuckled, but winked to show he was kidding.

"Thank you Kassie," Seth replied then turning toward Surge. "How many Pokemon each?" He was eager to get started.

Surge blinked, and laughed out loud. "You don't waste a second, do you?" he laughed again, putting his hands on his hips. "I like that in a trainer. So is this just a practice match? How about three Pokemon each then?"
"This ought to be good," Kasiya smiled, as Shocker perched herself atop her trainer's head.
"Why don't you referee the battle, Kassie?" Surge said. "You have taken some of the ref's courses, it wouldn't hurt to see a battle from yet another angle."
"Sure!" Kasiya cried excitedly, looking to Seth. "That is, if that's okay with you," she smiled, trying to keep her face a normal colour.

"Fine with me Kasiya. I'm getting my battle aren't I?" Seth laughed and took his spot at the end of the arena. He stuck his left arm into his ivory colored bag and withdrew a Pokeball. He threw it onto the battle field releasing a Charmeleon. It was a light orange color and shone with sparkles as it came out from it's Pokeball. "Charcoal will be my first Pokemon." he said, confidence in his voice.

"Alright," Kasiya said, and took her spot in the ref's box. It felt odd to be up there, yet right at the same time. This is gonna be a tough one to call, she thought. And I don't know who to cheer for!
"Pika?" asked Shocker, jumping onto the railing next to her to watch the match.
"I know, I'm ready," she reassured the Pikachu.
Seth sent out his light-coloured Charmeleon, and both Kasiya and Shocker oohed. Lt. Surge returned Seth's confidant gaze and threw his own Pokeball. Kasiya wasn't too suprised to see it was Electrode. Good choice, she thought, and picked up the microphone. "The challenger, Seth, has chosen Charmelon. Gym Leader Lt. Surge has chosen Electrode. Let the battle commence!" she cried.
"All right Electrode! Let's get this battle rolling! Use Rollout!" Electrode spun around three times then hurtled towards Charcoal at an alarming speed.

The attack's speed surprised Seth for a few seconds, but he immediately turned back to the battle. All or nothing! Seth thought. This is Charcoal first real battle I hope he'll do ok with his limited move set. "Metal Claw!" Seth shouted timing the attack perfectly. The two Pokemon struck each other doing a bit of damage to one another, Charcoal taking in most of it.
Wasting no time Seth commanded a Scary Face hoping to shock the Electrode leaving an opening for an offensive attack.

Not Metal Claw, Kasiya thought, wincing. Electric types are strong against steel moves... she focused back on the battle, waiting to see what would happen next.
Electrode seemed to slow down a bit from the gaze, but it pivoted around quickly and kept rolling, gaining more and more momentum as it did so. Once again, it came at Charcoal. Surge grinned. "You'll have to do better than that," he smiled, hoping the boy was learning from the battle.

Seth gritted his teeth. Only if Charcoal had a more offensive move! With the limited amount of moves Seth was not too sure what he could do to turn the tide of the battle. "Ember!" Seth yelled feeling a panicing sensation as the Pokemon came closer.
Charcoal spewed fire. This isn't an Ember! It's Flamethrower! Seth was shocked that his Pokemon had managed to learn a move in time. The Pokemon kept going forwards though the fire. He was bidding for time to see if the flames would stop it.

"Not bad," Surge grinned as Electrode barrelled through the stream of flames and into the fire Pokemon. Electrode's body was blackened a bit in places, but it looked eager to continue. "Follow up with a Thunderbolt!" the leader bellowed.

(( Just did post count! Guess who evolved! rofl ))
"Charcoal!" Seth called out as the Pokemon rammed into him dealing a whole lot of damage. "Flamethrower!" Seth called out. The Charmelon didn't used the attack but began glowing a bright white as if morphed into another creature. It spread it's wings, flexing them with new found strenght. He was almost all black and seemed more ready to fight.
Seth was shocked beyond all belief, but snapped back into reality. The Thunderbolt struck dealing some damage. "Smokescreen!" Seth yelled, "Then to the air!" The black Charizard spewed the smoke over the battlefield, then took the the air as commanded.

((Ahh! I didn't know you guys started the battle! Oh well, I'm not important at this point anyway.))
Ryka, who was sitting on the viewer's bench, was awestruck at this. To her, it was amazing for a pokemon to sprout wings almost overnite.
"Go Seth!" She cheered. "Go.. erm.. Leutenant!" She cheered again, a bit confused as what to call him.
Thunder let himself out of his Pokeball, and was taking his usual spot on Ryka's shoulder to watch the battle.
"Oh, hey!" Ryka said to the little Pikachu, nuzzling its cheek. "Where have you been?"
"Pika pi pi chuuu!" he cried. As he watched the battle, he became more and more focused in it. His eyes grew wide as he watched Charcoal soar above his head.
