Joe skipped back from Helmsborough's strike, then, while Helmsborough was holding up Siber's spear, Joe shot a hard jab at his armpit, aided by both the Fists and a sudden blaze of fire from Joe's own mana. "All right," he said to Siber. "Get your breath back while I handle him. Jump in when you can." He pressed the attack on Helmsborough, going for any open point in his defenses. (Not counting the shield.)

Joe's strike slowed to a crawl as the shield sapped its kinetic energy. Helmsborough, still holding the spear to angle its attack, kicked at Joe's kneecap.

Fyrin, attempting to see the soul, found what appeared instead to be a small conduit to the Heart of Darkness.

That was all Fyrin needed to see to understand. He knew what Samuel was doing. Perhaps the dragon did too. But now it was time to do something else entirely. He began wildly tossing ice at the dragon, then heaved the earth and threw fist-sized rocks at great speed at the dragon, all the while backing away. He needed to make it angry and make it chase him. This wasn't immediately apparent; to the dragon, it would seem Fyrin had been scared and was now making a move for the retreat.
For that matter, Fyrin was surprised he wasn't. His Lord hadn't said a word so far, despite losing his arm, hand... how much more damage could he sustain before he would be physically forced to abandon his friends?

The dragon avoided the attacks; now that Fyrin had moved back, it lunged at Samuel. The grass grew explosively, weaving together into a plant wall to block the dragon. The dragon ignited it and took flight, hovering upwards. Its wings appeared were, for this, purely cosmetic - its hovering was magic-only.

Centauri finally unleashed his last reserves. A hail of two-meter spears erupted from his back, forming a cyclone shape around Samuel and completely blocking him from view. At the same time, the wood in Helmsborough's hand snapped and reattached, forming the spear with a slightly shorter distance. Siber began whipping it about in a whirlwind of feints and short jabs, utilizing his greaves as much as the weapon in attempts to score any blows he could, his speed and strength increasing steadily for a full minute before Centauri abruptly faded, leaving only the wood in Siber's hand. Siber drove his spear into the ground and vaulted away, then, keeping his eyes on the two main antagonists and wondering at the wall of burning grasses around Samuel. "It's all you, Joe," he said, catching his breath with the weapon in a defensive position.

Helmsborough struck away every attack, but the degree of his success and the ease with which he obtained it seemed to decrease steadily. Helmsborough released a kinetic blast toward Samuel's book, which Renard countered.
Gennady lurched to his feet again, a gaping hole in his chest where he'd removed his arm from the hole. His arms turned completely to metal, as did the flesh around the hole in his torso.

Hmm. Not according to plan. He had hoped the dragon would be... proud as opposed to smart. No dice there.
He moved in after it, and decided to grab its attention in a rather... well, attention-grabbing way. Now that it's back was to him, he slid in behind it, grabbed the thing's tail, tried to throw it into the air, and presuming that worked, would try to put a shot or two or three or several into the base the the dragon's tail.

Joe pulled his leg back, then used its position to swing a fiery kick at Helsmborough's shield. He began to pummel the shield yet again, noting that his opponent seemed to be slowing down.

The bullets passed through the tail, which twisted violently, but apparently in the name of some prioritization the dragon ignored them to breathe a deluge of flame upon Samuel.
Helmsborough ducked and swung his blade at Joe's leg.

((Venom - is there any way to angle this attack to damage more than the tail? Like, abdomen organs?))

((MADNESS!))
Joe jumped up, faster than it appeared possible, aided by his ally Wind. Apparently, it viewed him and his friends as "great fun," and Joe wasn't about to argue. While he was in the air, he pulled back a fist, wreathing it in fire. He slammed it down on Helmsborough's shield as he fell.

((Well, it's time to start trying something. biggrin 'Cuz obviously Fyrin's work isn't doing the job - the dragon's just taking it all like a man. Would be a good thing but it's irritating.))
Nothing was working. Fyrin couldn't significantly injure the thing with the abilities he had on hand. He needed something bigger, something better.
Then suddenly Paul (who had been largely ignored by everyone for quite a bit of time) let off a noise like a rather large charge of C4.
Or rather, the magical elements Paul had tried to meld together detonated, throwing away shrapnel, moisture, licks of fire, and something of a shockwave. Paul himself was thrown a few feet, surprisingly uninjured for being so close to the explosion. What he obviously was, however, was tired. Joe's sunglasses had disappeared from his face and were presumably somewhere about; his eyes were closed and he was unmoving, absolutely and completely still. Anyone who cared to (or could) check on his mana status would find it absolutely and completely depleted. As little damage as he had done, he was also very vulnerable, and anyone who cared to take a shot at him could do it - Siber could do little without Centauri already staged, Joe was focused on Helmsborough, Samuel was reading, and Fyrin was on the wrong side of the dragon.
Almost as though to mock him, a single very black ash dropped onto Paul's nose. He had tried to summon Darius. Nothing seemed to have happened. Paul: Condition: Yellow (Bleeding: Mild) (Unconcious) Mana: 0% Athena KR6: <35>/42/22/0/0/0 (Phase Ammo) Glock 26: <12>/11/2/0 (Explosive Ammo)

Joe pulled his fist to the side just in time, the metal of the gauntlets throwing off sparks as Joe's fire dissipated and it scraped along the sword. Joe's energy was focused into his left fist, which was now blazing white and shooting straight for Helmsborough's stomach.
