He didn't response negatively when she grabbed him this time, knowing that she hadn't meant him any harm the first time. Instead, it was merely a matter of indeed folding his wings to prevent straining and then tensing up in an strange sort of anticipation as he waited to see what she had in mind... A new but not unpleasant situation. She wasn't hurting him, after all. She was showing him affection, thus in return he turned his head to look up at her eyes, giving her a gentle smile as well as a pat before glancing to Shyrae as well as the others gathered there. "It's fine..." Weird, but fine.

"Little dragon, lot of air to fly around in." Though a smile crept across his face at the things that happened next. Oh how fun it was to be witness to such things as thus. "Now that is definitly something worth drawing. And it's classic hoarding behavior in any dragon." Crossing his arms with a chuckle and a shake of his hair. "Are you sure it's fine? Might give her the wrong ideas."

The thought process certinally was 'this is mine' at the moment for her wasn't it. Poor Kaz though, in the clutches of a dragon and his feet not even touching down on anything. Though he got another happy noise at his petting. Yup, this was hers at the moment. Despite the fact that sitting back on her haunches on the railing made for quite the unstable little dragon when it came to a moving ship.

Well that was certinally something that she had never heard before. To view death in such a manner...to have control over your own life in such a way. Some people wished for such things. Anyone could honestly ask for such a thing really. "That's beautiful to hear. Seems your world if full of things that can be described by that word." Smiling again lightly. "Rahsaveer is a poet is he? Maybe he'll be nice enough to let us be privy to such a thing." But a blink then at the profound question that was thrown her way. "I...well I don't know. One can say they don't fear it, but at the moment it happens they do. Perhaps that is one of the compliated things in our world. We can't determine how or when we die...it just happens one day. Sometimes too soon...for they who die or the others connected to who dies. Leaves scars on the soul." Shaking her head lightly. "Personally...I fear dying in a way that would only make people sad when they think of me."

And now he felt like a show or something, as more than three pairs of eyes were on him and the little skyblue as she amused herself in this way. At least she was still making noises that meant positive things though. "Wrong ideas as in what exactly?" Sky was young but not naive, she couldn't be substituting him for a comfort object could she? Turning his head again though, he met her eyes and decided to try something. If he had an identity associated with him in her mind, that might make things easier. "Wux, Sky... Ve, Kaz... Kaz." Repeating it firmly a second time as reinforcement. One syllable should be easier for her.

"No, not really. I'm kind of going on instinct here with her since I'm not a dragon myself and I don't really know what would help her. I'm afraid to touch her but then I'm afraid not to touch her since she just loves getting pets and affection. I try to remember she's a baby in mind and that babies need all the love and care you can give them to meet emotional needs...but then at the same time, I want her to realize she's more than a baby and she can learn these things. See, this is why I want you stay. What would you do?"

"There are many other descriptions that are often used as well. We have fifteen words for beautiful that describe a different kind. Many call us ethereal...I suppose I can see where they conclude that. As for Rahsaveer, if you ever are privy to his poetry, it means he deeply trusts and respects you. There are those of my own kind who have not earned that honor. Just something to remember."

It was fascinating to her to hear Jae talk about death since she didn't know very much about such a thing. She'd seen it, but never really understood it, much like an undersea creature wouldn't understand fire. "There is no warning or sign at all? The one you are close to just disappears?" But that brought her to a stalemate in her mind because conclusively, humans should not keep things from each other if their time was so unstable. "Are you afraid it might happen before certain secrets are revealed? Would you regret that if you were in an afterplane of some sorts and knew?" Agreeing quietly, 'I have seen some of these very scars. Sometimes they tear the soul apart."

"So there is our trouble? you think I am meaning it to show your inferior? hardly. you handle yourself well. your privy to magical power I can't grasp, your aim could use a bit more, but that's not inferior. that's different. there's the difference. if I were in a place of magic, and you pointed out my obvious liabilities, I wouldn't take that as an insult or an inferior meaning. I take it as facts that need to be addressed."

crossing his arms.

"Besides, we all know already that you elven types consider non elves inferior anyway. I guess us humans are used to it and your not."

Tail twitch. a snort...before she started shifting a bit.

"Only captain I know that doesn't spend time her her own..." yawn, "..damn cabin."

sitting up and rubbing her eyes a bit..before blinking and realizing the door wasn't closed. well. and a glance up.

Malik, however, was playing with his sword. and hearing words of death through the ears and minds of crew on teh Gale Claw..decided to play over there. a shadow step to phase into being near them both.

"Death...I can answer many questions on mortal death. that is an area that myself and my daughter are experts it."

He grinned. "Women are naturally affectionate creatures. I've come to see that even in the draconic species across various levels of existance that females are the ones who go after what they want." Chuckling and shaking his head but his eyes lit up at the new language. "Is that draconic tongue?" Oh that made him want to bounce in his boots. But his attention turned to Shyrae and he rolled his eyes again. "A good trainer doesn't need another's opinion. A pet is only a pet when your start punishing it like one. Every creature wants physical affection, its the punishment that determines what they are."

She cocked her head at him again, watching at he watched her and spoke. "Skylheera. Kaz Kaz." Giving a click and purr afterwards, quite happy with herself as she seemed to understand that she had gotten it right. Hopping off the railing and onto the deck, using her wings to help her with her balance as she was still holding onto Kaz, she set him on his feet this time. Still had hold of him though.

"You're beautiful creatures. It's not hard to see why we call you as such." Nodding at the information on Rahsaveer, before another blink. "Well...sometimes it's like that. Sometimes we're really sick or we're awfully hurt and we know that people are going to die. And then sometimes it happens so fast by tragic or freak means that no one could have guessed it was going to happen." shaking her head, what a grim subject. "Mayhaps...but thinking on death only invites it." Nodding lightly with a sigh, "I have seen them too. I see it everyday." Namely in two red dragons she was close to. Jumping lightly when Malik showed up, though that got an unpleasant noise of pain from her. "Death is your business?" Trying to settled again...ow.

"I have a ship to run...and not time to laze about in my cabin drinking rum." Crossing her arms before kicking her door and standing aside of it, just on the inside of the cabin. "Now get out before I run you out like an animal. This is my space and not yours to laze about and make filthy as you try to make a comfortable bed."

"Facts that needed to be addressed." Crossing her arms lightly, not even knowing she was mimicking his posture. "I don't consider everyone inferior thank you very much, you all make that assumtion and that makes us treat you as such. But fair enough...we'll say you're being concerned about your crew. And as I said before...do right by me and I'll do right by you. I do not need a babysitter, or a seeing eye dog."

"Yes that's true. Why didn't I remember that? You taught me that years ago." Glancing over and then giving a giggle. "Kaz Kaz. Looks like she's labeled you, Kaznec." Though a sound of delight and she clapped her hands. "She said her whole name! Skylheera, very good sweetheart. Now try another one. Shyrae. Dhairiss. Caden. Take your pick." Oh that was exciting and oh so very amusing to watch Dhairiss get excited too. Grinning smugly, "Told you it'd be worth it if you stayed around."

Eilynne let the praise fall right off her back and focused on the dragon's answers. "Thinking on death only invites it...why? Are you more careless when you consider such a prospect or do you find yourself moving prematurely towards an end that you aren't even aware of?" A glance up as Malik appeared and she swept a hand out to the surrounding area. "I would appreciate any light you are able to shed, lord elf." Resting a hand on Jae's back to calm her movements.

"Lord D'vinn and his elven daughter are necromancers. They deal with the darker arts that are forbidden to a certain extent on my plane. There are necromantic ideals but not the art itself if that makes sense. Tell me, Lord D'vinn, why deal in death when life has so much more abundance? Why spread sickeness and hurt when life to so many is fragile and fleeting? Why bring down more suffering on those who suffer enough?"
PostPosted: Sat Oct 27, 2007 11:24 pm

Golden eyes moved briefly to the new elf he didn't recognize. When had they gotten more additions to the group and how had they gotten here? He didn't dwell on those thoughts right now though and merely nodded. "Yes. You understand it?" Apparently the skyblue learned quicker that he and Shyrae gave her credit for though and he gave a genuine smile at her naming. Well that was interesting... Jae called him that at times too. Feet firmly on the ground again, he looked to her paws next but she still didn't seem to want to let go. Resting a hand on her paw, he gave her a firm nod before gesturing to where Shyrae was standing. "Lehhav svern, vucot jaka."

"Because you're obstinate and don't want to remember things." Shaking his head and crossing his arms, almost sticking his tongue out at her before he realized that he may loose the use of it again and refrained. "And you're just trying to get me to stay. Told you, this is too much adventure for me. I don't have wanderlust like the rest of you." Turning a look to Kaznec he smiled, and noted that look of 'hey you're a stranger'. "No, I can't. I'm nowhere near old enough to touch that languages and dragons aren't in my blood. And the name is Dhairiss D'vinn...I'm the grumpy one's brother." Covertly looking around to see if his sister had heard that. Good, she hadn't."

Oh she was a happy dragoness, yes indeed. Another c**k of her head, listening and then working her jaw once more. "Shyrae." Look she got another one. And she could tell from the reactions she was getting that they were pleased with what she was saying. But her attention turned back down to Kaznec, listening to him once more and then letting him go completely. No more play time? Time to learn? We were learning now weren't we? But sitting back on her haunches, rather obediantly, she waited.

Shy employed the childish technique this time, sticking her tongue out instead and then snatching it right back in just in case he decided to do what she'd done earlier. "I am not obstinate. Maybe you're a bad teacher." But her attention turned to Sky as she said her name as well and Shyrae nodded approvingly. "Very good, Sky." What was he saying? She had no idea. "Translation, Kaznec? I don't speak draconic either and she looks as if she's waiting for something..."

"I was just surprised because you reacted like you understood." Grumpy one... Racking his brain a moment as he wasn't good with such emotion-based descriptions. "Savryn right? She may be reclusive but she can be helpful. Pleasure to meet you though. I'm Kaznec." He was pleased that Sky was obedient in that aspect, though it was probably fixed into her genes considering her background. Still, it was a great relief that communication seemed possible now. He fixed his clothing a bit and turned to Shyrae, nodding. "Sorry, it just seems to be an easier way to talk to her since it is in her blood. And she is waiting, I believe. I told her that play was over and that you were going to teach her new things now."

"I'm not a bad teacher. You're like your mother." Weren't they cute going back and forth. But a nod at the little happy moment they were experiencing over the little dragon's progress. "Oh well...I don't understand it but I've heard it before. My grandfather had the opportunity to be exposed to some dragons and I got to go with him. It was enlightening. But a tongue that even elves have trouble with." Chuckling lightly. "Good that she still has that inherent nature though. Dragon blood is by far very poweful stuff."

Still waiting and listening, though seemingly studying all four of them as well as if looking for something or trying to remember things. Or trying to tell differences, one could take many a guess at the various aspects that could be deducted. Expectant look though before she turned her head to preen at her wings some though.

"Mortal death can come unexpectedly, indeed. but most times, it is simply..a wearing down. as many races get older, thier bodies internally weaken. much like stone when constantly flowed over by running water. eventually it wears out."

going into lecture mode, complete with mild pacing and hand gestures.

the bones become weaker. the muscles as well. and since the heart, lungs, kindeys...many organs essential to sustaining life are in thier basic form, muscle, they too eventually wear down. often you can feel this. they start to breathe heavier and more often. they move slower. they body tries to conserve energy, making them get tired quicker."

"the slow death of time is also the most desired. you can prepare for it, those left behind can as well. eventually...the body just shuts down. the muscles cease to move the blood and air."

"for many mortals, thinking on death invites it because they become obsessively paranoid. so concerned with preventing death, they often walk right into something that they considered to small to worry about, that brings thier own end. violent deaths, usually. to cite an example...a person constantly planning to be seiged in his castle may very well overlook the scorned help that poisons his food and drink."

though a small smile at the last question.

"That is a question that so many ask. I deal in Death, yes. and in Life. for example...I can use the diseases that can cause decay..to rapidly age things like plants, causing full blooms in winter. I can cause illnesses in people, but make those same sicknesses easily overcome, thus making the sick able to fend off the actual disease. crimes can be solved by communing with the dead, and by being able to inflict disease and decay, I also know the signs that tell it's coming."

though a more serious look.

"and there are somethings, that death should be a release, not a punishment. my enemies know suffering that only I can give them. my daughter even moreso. while she is a true necromancer, I am a shadowknight. a warrior bred that has been trained to an extent in necromancy."

a frown.

"though yes. we have that stigma. that we are bloodthirsty, and use our dark power with impunity and without discretion. and there are many that do. even I once, did such. and there is the unfortunate fact that for us to be able to control some of these aspects...we must experiment on the living. one disease is not the same to control and create magically as another. that is where most of our 'forbidden art' stigma comes from. because there are many who crave to learn only for power. Necromancy is a power unlike any other art. we raise the dead, we control the line between life and death. it is an awesome power. and easily abused."

glancing at Jae.

"Such as in your case. the poison in your bloodstream was siphoned out, to the best of her ability. the reason it hurts so much is that the energy used to siphon it, was also used to tear the portions of vein and flesh that the poison had left traces on. they are rapidly decayed, and siphoned into energy. she could not get all of it, because our method would have done far more harm to the areas it was already affecting then the poison itself."

though back to Eilynne.

"I use the condemned for my personal experiments. and prisoners of war. our crowning achievement in Necromancy is, of course, manipulation of the dead. I have stolen souls from their intended afterlives to send them to others I find more fitting, just as I have used them as eyes and ears in places. I have raised the flesh and bone. which is another misconception. a necromancer pet is no more 'alive' than a constructed elemental. the difference, is memory. as mortal being age, their soul's energy diffuses over time. it leaves the memory of all they knew in their bones and flesh. this is what gives the appearance of the 'bound soul' idea."

hmm, kind of went off on a tangent there.

"The basics being that I spread disease and suffering to those that earn it from me. my standards may differ from others. but my necromantic power can also be used to grow flowers in winter. to ferment hops and barely and grapes into beers, ales, and wines quicker. can be used as vaccines, or even give better understanding and potential cures to some illnesses. which is why I say that I manipulate the line between life and death. or simply that I practice necromancy, not that I 'Deal in Death'. dark power does not always mean expressively dark purposes."

"Good. then I won't have to be constantly telling you to handle the sails. then we'll see how things go."

And Hunter went back to his cabin, taking a seat and looking over his charts while opening a bottle of rum.

Desdemona smirked lightly.

"You and I am some buisness. and unless you'd like your whole crew to hear about it, why don't you sit down over here and we can talk. and close the door."

crossing her legs at the ankleand leaning back on her hands some on the bed.

"Either way, we're going to have a chat."
PostPosted: Sun Oct 28, 2007 2:33 pm

"I am not!" Glaring at him for a moment before she dissolved into laughter and poked him. "You always say that when you have nothing left to use." But Kaznec's words bore thinking about. We were teaching more now? Alrighty then. "Skylheera. Pay attention." Pointing to herself, "Shyrae." She'd said that already so perhaps it was time to teach her little sentences and see if she couldnt' begin to at least play copycat. "Shyrae, female. Kaznec, male. Skylheera, female. Understand." Pointing to Kaznec. "Male." Back to herself. "Female." Point to Dhairiss. "Male." Point to Sky." Female. I am a female and so are you." Point to Caden. "But Caden is a male."

Eilynne was quiet for a long time, digesting the information and storing it away for future use. "The Goddess is right to keep such forbidden arts from us. Our kind is far more powerful than yours and with such a power in the wrong hands...disasters the likes you have never even begun to imagine would occur." She wasn't sure she understood how introducing a disease might actually be helpful but believed him. "Evil is self-destructive. It is often compared to a parasite that by fully consuming it's host, destroys itself, leaving only good in its path. Everything begins good, but as life continues and knowledge is gained, evil begins to take root." A shake of her head sadly.

"Wars are foght for a variety of reasons. What is an enemy to you? Someone who does not believe as you? Someone who attempts to claim something you believe belongs to you? That 'enemy' that you choose to use for your own advancement likely has a family and a life of his own. I do not understand why such fighting occurs when you are all in the same place and could work together for the betterment of your plane." Glancing at Jae, "Have you witnessed many wars, Jaebelltiah? What is the reasoning behind them? You are a strategist, thus you are called upon to outwit the supposed enemy. Why are they called such?"
