I play the flute, and just recently joined the guild. 3nodding Hi~
Hmm. I have a question, that'll probably make me sound stupid. sweatdrop
I had a really good flute, then two-ish years ago it got stolen, so one of the music stores that mainly supplies the schools lent me one of their flutes, which was REALLY crappy, but it still worked. NOW I'm borrowing my mentor's and no matter how I try to move the foot joint or whatever, I can't find a way to NOT put my right pinky finger in immense pain. Anyone have any suggestions on this? sweatdrop

flute player here!
I suggest renting a different flute from maybe a different company? Or try buying a new one. Or, go to a local music store and ask to trade the flute in I guess
If you want a good quality flute and money isn't an issue, then theres a brilliant flute company in Holland sweatdrop
If you're in the bay area I suggest Wolmers in San Mateo, they're going out of business and everything is 75% off
If you're in south/central Florida, I suggest going to All County Music. They're a bit over rated, but they have a vast selection of flutes.

It took us three years to pay off that one flute that got stolen, then we had to pay for the one they lent us, because they just decided we were keeping it or something. Right now I'm best off borrowing my mentor's until we have some money saved up for a new one. I'm pretty sure my parents are still rather angry with me for having mine stolen.

Well accidents do happen I suppose, I don't know what I'd do if I lost my flute or had it stolen. (Its the most valuable thing I own!)
Since you are financially troubled, I suggest buying a used flute, off of ebay works. NEVER go to Wal Mart or Target or one of those stores and buy a flute there, they're extremely out of tune and local music stores can't repair them. If you do go on ebay then I suggest you ask the seller for: -pictures (make sure to get a brand name and the serial number on the flute) -a recorded chromatic scale sample (so you can hear if its working properly) -a certificate of authenticity that was given to them when they recieved the flute (don't buy a flute if it doesnt have the certificate) -a case and cleaning supplies (don't bother with key oil, it ruins your pads) -what else may come with the flute Sometimes if you're lucky they'll throw in music or a piccolo for a bit more (music is usually for free along with it).
I hope this is helping you some sweatdrop

Wow, a whole page about new flutes. xD heart
My new one is a Jupiter, silver plated...nickel I'm assuming, b footjoint, inline G, open hole. Though I don't know if the headjoint is solid silver or not. I'm buying it off a friend. xD

I just got my loverly new flute 2 weeks ago, I think. I love it to deathhhh.
Sonare SF6000, pure silver ((not plated)), professional headjoint, gizmo key, open hole. Other stuff that I'm probably forgetting also.
My parents weren't too thrilled about the price (($1500)) but still. My old one is ((kept it, I can't bare to part with it)) the one I started out on. So it's really basic. I've had it for 5 years, so my parents ((finally)) let me get a new one.

My flute should be coming tommorow!
It's a used Gemeinhardt 3sb. Solid silver, open keys, B foot.
You can find some awsome deals on ebay. I got this one for about $350.

Sorry, I'm kind of construction-of-flutes illiterate. And to DrkMerchant, you really have to be careful when you order stuff from ebay. People on there will rip you off, badly. Not really price-wise, but quality-wise.
