Conner kept his face impassive but inside he was annoyed that he was heard, he had been trained by the best to move silently and some punk aussie...person heard him. He watched him move from the counter to the fridge with his powers trying to figure out just how he did it.
"The only thing in this kitchen that i know is that fridge, that counter and that kettle. everything else is a mystery to me." He answered Aarin by gesturing with his right hand. "And I'm Conner, i'm a recent arrival too." He kept his left arm on the table to keep the knife hidden. "What're you making?"

"Pleased to meetcha, mate! This... is spaghetti alla carbonara. Or it's going to be, anyway, once I find those spices..." Aarin began opening and closing cabinets, searching. "It's got this great cream, egg, and bacon sauce. Tricky part's cooking the eggs with the noodles, but I'm reasonably sure I'm not going to screw up and get salmonella."
Everything about Aarin, from his clothing, to his rapidfire speech, to his near-hyper motions, indicated he was someone whose favorite mental phrase was 'LOOK AT ME!' The Aussie finally found the spice cabinet and began piling his desired ingredients into his sombrero.
"Great hat, huh? It doubles as a tray, sometimes. Oh, grab some nachos if you want. I promise they're not poisoned." Aarin grinned from ear to ear and indicated the platter lying on the table.

Conner watched Aarin prance about the kitcen like he had ADHD, looking for the spices and things he was after. Upon hearing what the dish was he had grown just a little hungry but the mention of food ppoisoning immediately quelled it When dinner time comes round he thought I'll take me chances with take-out He accepted the invitation for the nachos and reached out to take one from the plate but snapped it back when poison of a different kind was mentioned. He stood up and walked to the kettle and began fixing himself a cup of tea, wondering where Kevin had got to; Aarin was making him nervous and back up was going to be greatly appreciated soon.
"Your accent sounds familiar, Southport right?" he asked the Australian mutant as he grabbed a cup from the cupboard nearest to him and leaned over for the milk.

Aarin raised his eyebrows in surprise, reevaluating Conner. "Closer than a snake's belly to the ground. Surfers Paradise. Not many catch it; most o' the Yanks around here can't tell Sydney from Jindabyne. Can't quite place yours, though... kind of London-y?" Aarin shrugged, "Looks like I'm just as guilty. Ah, well." He actually walked to the table to pop some nachos into his mouth. "I was just kidding about poison." He checked on the boiling noodles, then scrounged in cabinets until he found a colander to toss into the sink.

"That's very close, mate." Conner answered him. "I lived in diplo row but grew up mainly in the east-end." Conner finished making his tea one-handed and sat back down. "And from my experience so-far no Yank can tell the difference between the English or Australian accents though I'm hoping for some exceptions some time soon." He gingerly grabbed a nacho and ate it. "Mmm, nice nacho." He grabbed another, his usually obedient stomach cried out for food. "I've always wondered just what would happen if a Welshman took his holiday in Florida, last time I was there a Scot had to repeat her order three times before the guy in the IHOP got the gist of it." He took another nacho. "Damn these things are addictive."

(I think that's fine or perhaps she should smell Logan coming and leave Morgan wondering what just happened.)
X-23 was waiting for Morgan just outside the door. She'd placed herself in just the right spot, so she could spring at him the instant the door opened. She had the disk in hand and ready to smack on his forhead. The metal disk felt cool on her palm, and she absently stroked it as she waited. It wouldn't be long now. The water had just been turned off and she could hear the boy's footsteps beyond the door.
******
Rogue and the others had been stuck in the heavy traffic for about ten minutes when she saw a familiar side street. "Ah hah! There we go. That'll get us out of this mess and home a whole lot faster."
She turned down the new street and zipped towards home. If she was lucky they just might still beat Scott and the rest of the X-men to the mansion, and he'd never know she'd taken the car. Even without the traffic, it was still going to be another ten minutes until they reached the garage, and her chances of avoiding Scott's wrath were getting slimmer by the second.

{Sorry about some minor charry-controlling in this post. It just sets up the scene much better.)
Morgan was ready to head back to his room to change, and wasn't terribly self-concious about being clad only in a blob-generated towel. After all, he WAS in the boys' dormitories, so it's not like he had to worry about bumping into any of the girls.
He turned around as he left the bathroom, giving it one last cursory check to make sure he hadn't left the showers on or anything. "All good? All good," he remarked to himself, noting that everything was in it's proper place. He backed out of the room, closing the door behind him, and bumped right into X-23 landing both of them in a heap on the floor.
"Oh, christ, I'm so sorry about that. I guess I wasn't looking where I was-" Morgan stopped midsentence when he realized who he was talking to. Blushing slightly about being caught in such attire (or lack thereof), he spoke again. "Er, the girls' dorms are that way," he said, pointing towards the other side of the mansion. Great, just when I thought the day couldn't get any worse, I get caught with my pants down, so to speak, by a new kid. And to make it worse, she's a girl. Just my freakin' luck, he thought to himself.

(No worries! It was quite funny.)
X-23 had been in the process of intercepting Morgan, when to he surprise, he came out backwards and bumped into her. It was a hard enough bump to send them both to the floor in a tangle, and knocking the neuro-disk flying. Morgan had promptly begun an apology instead of getting off, so she couldn't do anything to him, much less reach the disk on the floor or a new one in her pocket. he finally got at least partway off when he realized her gender and pointed in the direction of the girl's dorms. She shoved him off with a growl and regained her feet. A SNICKT sang through the air as she unshealthed her two fist claws and lunged.

"Whoa! Okay, so you're not a new recruit," Morgan replied, rolling out of the way of the claws. "God dammit! I just had to think that, didn't ?! Of course, my day will always get worse! Fine then, let's go!" he said, assuming a semi-fighting stance, even though he was still in a towel.
Clothing-clothing-clothing-clothing-clothing! he thought to himself, or rather to the thing that had attached itself to him earlier. Well, it had seemed that he'd got the hang of it, as the towel morphed itself into an average pair of shorts and a t-shirt. "That's more like it," he said, pulling himself into a proper fighting stance. "Come on, let's see what you got!" he said, waiting for her to make another move.

X-23 plunged her claws into the carpet where Morgan had been moments before. She went with the momentum and used it to launch herself into a roll, extracting her claws from the floor as she went. She came out of the roll in a crouch, the previously lost disk in hand. It wasn't exactly what she'd planned, but it would do nicely. She whipped around to face her now clad opponent, placing one hand on the ground behind her as she spun in order to counter balance the outward slash of her right foot, that was now aiming for his legs. She was beginning to enjoy this. He was turing out to be more challenging than the others she'd encountered so far.

"Oh, thank god. We're home."
Peaking open one eye and pulling her face level with the door's edge, Victoria was relieved to find that Rouge had just turned into the X-Mansion's trademark, winding driveway.
"About time," she mouthed, barely able to stifle a yawn as she sat up and stretched out her arms and back. They had gotten stiff from sitting in the car too long, and the relaxed meets crumpled position that she choose for the duration of the ride did not help either.
Luckily, by the time Rouge pulled the convertible into the garage, her muscles had woken up enough for her to hop out of the car before the engine had even shut off completely.
"Thanks for the ride," she said, facing Rouge and giving her a quick two-fingered salute of appreciation. "We'll have to steal this guy's car more often," she added as a half-mumbled afterthought. For a few seconds directly after her statement, she was lost in a dream about the joy-riding possibilities, but after blinking once she smiled innocently and the thought was pushed back in he mind.
"We'll have to do it again sometime," she added dreamily, letting her hand linger on the car's cherry red finish before pulling it away relucantly. "But until then I'm off, to take a shower, or perhaps grab a bit to eat. I dunno," she shrugged, turning away from Rouge, Tabitha and the convertible and made her way across the garage and into the inner mansion.

"No worries!!" Rogue called after Victoria. Then she sighed and got out of the car mumbling to herself about how she'd begun to think Pyro's powers had left, and how annoying it was to not sound like herself. She shut the convertible's door, and quickly glanced aroun for the X-jet, or Scott. She didn't see either and thanked her lucky stars. Then she headed inside to shower, not about to test her luck any further by lingering.

"Too slow!" he quipped, hopping over the kick and claw. "You've gotta be faster than that to fight me," he said, assuming another fighting stance. In his new pose, he seemed somewhat unsteady on his feet, but that was all part of the trick for the style known as Drunken Master. It was all about unpredictablity, and he'd been itching to try it out for some time. His body swayed back and forth, semi-rythmically, but eyes focused directly on the girl.
She was good, no doubt about it. He'd never actually faced a human opponent that was this good, save for Logan. But this girl was certainly no Logan, not even with those claws she seemed to attack him with.

(Fyi: Her toe claws aren't out, just her hand claws.)
X-23 pulled her leg back underneath her, frustrated that this undertrained X-man was avoiding her blows. She'd heard more people enter the mansion, but one had gone towards the kitchen, and the others towards the girls dorms, so she wasn't worried about them. She wasn't really after any girls unless they got in her way, and the other's footsteps weren't nearly heavy enough to belong to her target. These things were mere background noise in her mind, though, for she was focused on her fight. She'd been nice, and gone easy on the boy, but he seemed to want more.
Alright. You want more? You got it. You have yet to see me go all out, she thought at her opponent. She stood from her crouch, looking him over as she did so. He was in and unsteady fighting pose, that allowed for his body to move back and forth. It wasn't technically rythmical, but there was a rythym there if you knew where to look. X-23 allowed the barest hint of a smile to flicker across her face. He thought she didn't know the Drunken Master technique. How cute. She was actually a master of multiple forms of martial arts, and Drunken Master technique was one of them. They were part of her training, and she hadn't been allowed to mess up on any of her forms, or she'd get punished by her handler.
X-23 took one of the more basic fighting stances and waited for him to make the first move. Hopefully the simplicity of the pose would make him over cocky, giving her the upper hand.

Aarin walked to the table and flipped a chair around to sit in while he waited for the noodles to cook. "I gotta ask ya something... this place looks pretty cushy, but how're things really for you guys? Like, how d'you lot put up with all the orders 'n such? No secret this is a tight ship."
