You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

((Shut up, both of you. I'm trying as hard as I can, so don't whine about it. xp ))

Raedou observed the game with patience. If it was to be that he would go last, the Ganzi had to assume that his riddle would be the most difficult. He stood in his usual slouched position, watching and waiting. He knew the answer to Jaeto's riddle. He had also known the answer to Farfarello's riddle. In fact, the two answers came to him in a heartbeat. But his riddle...

"Clear your head, Jaeto." he spoke, "I know that you have the answer somewhere in there."

For the sake of absolute Fate, Destiny, and utter God-like direction in that Jaeto could have absolutely no other outcome, the answer came to him.

"A river," Jaeto answered, correctly, although the answer was not of his own divination.

"At night they come without being fetched, And by day they are lost without being stolen." Stated Pondy, who was now flat and emotionless in tone. Her head was slightly red, which was abnormal from her bluish-green tint previously held. Anyone with sense would see that Pondy was getting very, very... angry....

Raedou's non-existent ears perked up. This riddle was his, and he had to think on this one. He stood, not moving an inch, not even breathing. Just standing and thinking, his emotionless face hidden behind his bronze helmet, gleaming in the setting sunlight. Jaeto, being a close friend of the Ganzi, would know that Raedou was in deep thought. Ganzian thought.

Pondy tapped her foot on an invisible floor of air, clearly bored. A faint glint of hope shined in her eyes as she slowly began to, despite herself, hope that the Ganzi would not guess the riddle.

((There are so many character. Why do they all have to be inactive! gonk ))
PostPosted: Mon May 11, 2009 8:36 am

((All of my inactive characters are tied with SPI. The events within the Council will be revealed with time, Emerelda and Mistraltz are listening to the sound of wolves that may or may not be rampaging toward the city, Noah's role is purely as a catalyst for events in the story, Ralendine is still on the ship, the Prime Four are awaiting an audience with Valthere, Dasher is... ah. Dasher. I'll post as him. Anywho, the elves are partying until Navilie gets kidnapped, and Telgove/Dalsado are awaiting another mission from Bael.))

-----

Raedou stood like a statue, the gears in his mind turning and ticking, calculating every possible answer to this seemingly difficult riddle. He still did not budge.

-----

Dasher rushed through the elven forest, swiftly dodging through every tree branch and furry bush that came along. He loved this place, the cool breeze streaming through his untidy orange hair, the voices of the trees and the animals
soothing his mind as he went through his daily routine. Then... he stopped. The voices... they were no longer soothing. They were in panic. They all rushed a single sentence into the boy's head...

Intruders in the forest.

Angered, the boy growled and jetted toward the intruders, ready to defend the forest with his life. When he made it to where the voices led him, he was shocked at what he saw... These 'intruders' were merely people his own age, not a threat to the forest at all. He sat on a nearby tree branch and waited, observing these strange newcomers.

((Rae... do...?))

Pondy did nothing. In fact, she appeared to be petrified (although, just not actually stone).

Tanessa, Cedric, and Irwin were walking. Cedric was thoughtful, as always. Tanessa was loud, as always. And Irwin interjected the occasional comment or fact, as always. They were... trying to reach the elven capital. However, whether they were even heading in the right direction or not, was questionable.

Raedou continued not moving... until he awoke with a start.

"Wha!? I'm innocent! What's my crime?!" he stammered, "...Uh? What... What happened...?! Ugh..."

The Ganzi had fallen asleep before he even heard the riddle.

-----

Dasher watched the three mages with great interest. They didn't seem to be causing any harm to the forest... Maybe they had good intentions? The forest boy couldn't tell for sure. He continued to stalk them, hopping on branch after branch... until he took a clumsy step and fell to the floor, making a loud rustling noise when he hit the bush below.

Jaeto yelled, "Duck!" reflexively as another large frog-head rose to spout a ball of mud-barf at Raedou.

Irritated beyond belief, Pondy (whose pearly white skin was completely red now) flew at Raedou in anger. The pixie-sprite darted with amazing, gravity-defying speed toward the edge of the pond... when, at the exact border between water and land, she froze midair.

And petrified, literally.

Although they may not realize it just yet, Pondy, who had been bound magically to the pond for all eternity, had just forfeited all her existing freedoms (including magical power and the privilege not to be petrified) by attempting to leave the border of the pond.

Thus, all magical barriers keeping Raedou, Jaeto, and Farfarello imprisoned became obliterated.

One of the frogs, now released from magical control (for they could not answer riddles, after all) hopped up onto the shore, and ate Pondy with one gulp.

"The Korubinos (which stands for the island chain of Korubin) is visible as of this dawn," Helenne told her green-haired, Korubin ally, Remedius. "Should Ralendine be awakened?"

Remedius shook his head. "Wait until we dock, my dear, then we'll have ourselves a laugh when the monkeys board and try to steal his hair! Hoo-hoo!"

Helenne chuckled, but said nothing more.

~

Tanessa continued to rant on loudly about whatever it was she had been complaining about, whilst Cedric and Irwin had turned to regard Dasher curiously. "Um, Tanessa...?" Cedric called, over his shoulder.

Tanessa just kept on walking, oblivious to the goings-on behind.

~

Myrrelda was long-gone down the spiral slide of light leading to the Baeltian land below, or what one could assume was the Baeltian land below. Whether Perrault chose to follow or not, was up to the elf.

But it would become very lonely up on that platform, and if the slide chose to disappear... well, Perrault would not be getting down, to say the least. Not with any of his bones intact.

"There are far too many," Dakon calmly stated, before ducking out of the path of a falling Horde creature. Hundreds he had killed as of yet this day, but still more came. Clem, who had been trying to simply go to the Library and did not know any of the other people, was now hiding in the eve of one of the many abandoned buildings. He threw the occasional firecracker or explosive toadstool at the occasional flying Horde creature, but otherwise was of little help.

Diine was also present, along with... Aria and Vinn, who were looking for Ephlas, the magus who had disappeared just prior to Dakon and co.'s arrival. All of these people were in a floating city above the deadly hell-sand, however.

"Prepare to retreat," Dakon said again, calmly. His sword was not sheathed, however. A fighting retreat seemed to be in order.
