Nihilistic_Impact Say, has anyone here seen someone effectively use a warhammer in a fight? On Gaia, it's nearly impossible without magic, simple melee combat with a warhammer or other two-handed weapon will leave you too open to all the speedster swordsmen and other high-agility characters.

Nihilistic_Impact No, I have a faint idea how you would use one. And I'm refering to the smaller ones, like this.I just want to know if anyone else has seen others use them because I'm designing a character that does. Oi. A war-pick...gotcha, but still nope. Less so now, cause most people use huge mauls...

The trick with a Pick weapon like that N_I is to be very fluid and tricky with your attacks, You always do underhand twirls and back drops to strike them. You would use pushes and small swipes to get your target in the flow and thought of you wanting to smash them apart, than you simple go in and hook slash em up, use a lot of pull backs and side swipes as well, I would use a chain on the bottom of my hammer/pick for my slide style of attacks.

I'm trying to think of a somewhat more realistic weapon almost never used or seen. I've done odd weapons, but they push realism just a touch generally.

And I can attest to the agility that someone can use a footman's warhammer as I've recently come in possesion of one and damn between the hammer, pick, shaft, and even the blunt of the head you have a multitude of ways you can attack someone. Also it doesn't take much movement to produce a powerful swing because of mass placement.

I totaly disagree with this statement, it has nothing to do with the weight of the weapon or its size, its above the fluid motions of your body and the exchange of your body equilibrium, that is how you can make a speed swordsmaster stay on his toes and the defense when you use a large warhammer.

Hook swords. Hm. I can look into it, but I keep getting the feeling there's something I've sketched or seen recently that would work well.
