~At the summit of his Citadel, Azure stood still overlooking the movements of the Larovian forces. Their movements had halted due to the efforts of his Maharan legions. Except for himself and the one guardian at the base of the Citadel, the city had grown silent once again. The tears of the heavens now poured onto the city as the rumble of a natural storm took its place in the airspace above. Its purifying waters washed away the remnants of blood that stained the earth within the walls of the keep. Azure looked down at his brother who was now standing in the center of a ring of corpses. He only smiled at him, before his image faded completely from sight. His brother, Nahota, remained at the keep, tasked with defending it from any whom decided to cross its borders.

When he reappeared, Azure was standing outside of the doors to the Tower of Truth. He had arrived only moments before Akurei entered the square. Upon laying eyes on him, The Four Horsemen that accompanied Akurei all stood in front of him. Their faces were wroght with shock as they did not expect to find him standing there before them. As Yige stepped in to strike, he found himself stopped by Akurei. Apparently there had been questions that required answers, and Azure may have been the key to obtaining the answers he sought.~

So, you have regained your body. Tell me, did it trouble to you murder your children?

They were only remnants of my being. They were never meant to exist. I must give you credit Nemesis. To imprison my bretheren inside their blades...that must have taken quite a bit if talent. A talent that you do not have.

Very perceptive, Azure. Indeed, it was not I whom forced your brothers to live a life as nothing more than a material possession. In fact, the culprit stands before you.

I am pleased to see my talents have not gone unnoticed.

Ah, Yige Yingzi. I see you are still just another pawn in this game.

Hold your tongue Traitor. You have not the right to speak on such matters.

You obey his every order and follow him around like a lost child. When did you become such a sycophant?

ENOUGH!!!

I'd listen to him if I were you lover.

Atrista. You still have yet to see the truth. As do the two of you.

You have no room to talk. You who have been granted a six thousand year slumber.

I do believe the cycle still requires your death.

Ah, that is where you are mistaken, yet again. Have you even felt the disturbances within the underworld as of late? No. While you were here with your head implanted in his rear, the three of us have fell it.

WHAT???

How dare you?!

THe borders of the underworld are slowly diminishing. Meridious himself has begun to march from his position toward the gates to this realm. He leads a Legion of Yakayu and will not stop until he finds the one who has caused this phenomenon.

M-Meridious is....coming....here?

Akurei. You give aid to Reinsen, and then you betray him. You destroy Faltora, and then attempt to take my city as well? What do you hope to accomplish?

If you must ask, there is no need for an answer.

Ah. stare So you still have not changed your goals. Those crystals will bring about nothing more than your own destruction. Your every action is motivated by the foolish search for an answer that you will never find. You are a prostitute to their will. I am ashamed to call you MY nemesis.

Believe what you will maggot. I have seen he contents of this Tower, and I will not be denied.

You still do not understand do you? Alas, I will allow you the opportunity to find the answer yourself before you meet your end. Pray to the fates that we do not meet again. Should our paths cross once more, I will personally see to it that you follow your soldiers to the darkness of oblivion.

~Just as he made his threat, Dagaal dashed toward him making an attempt to strike him down. To his misfortune, his blade struck only a cloud of black feathers, as Azure's body disappeared from sight. As the feathers touched the ground, one by one they ingited in black flames and desintigrated into nothing. It was then that AKurei stepped toward the doors to the tower, but as he reached for the handle, the image of the tower itself had faded from sight. He did not know what the cause of this phenomenon was exactly, but he was certain that his misfortune was linked to the presence of Azure and his brothers. He could barely control his anger as he spoke to his Horsemen once again. The winds around his body sparking with flame as he turned to leave the village. His last words to them before his departure making his intentions clear.~

Find them. evil Silence them all....Permanently.

Within the towering monolith that is known as the Tower of Dalken, Luin Ryera stood silently in front of a particular inscription upon the inner walls of the tower.

The text before him was written in an odd script that was both familiar and alien to Luin, this was due to the fact that it was written in a combination of four different tongues to baffle the reader that indended to understand what secrets the text held. Much of the script was in the structured text of the celtarie, though scattered throughout the inscripition was the elegant script of the anierians as well as the angular writing of the azerian language. The fourth language threaded throughout the writing was of a tongue that Luin had never seen...though it was incrediably similar to the writing of the anierians. Nonetheless via the context he guessed well enough what the inscription said.

"What does it say?" Questioned Jadea from behind Luin as the Ryera necromancer set his palm against the stone inscription, his hand sliding over the script as he silently pondered over the information incribed here.

"It is a history..." he replied simply as he looked back over at his shoulder at her for a brief moment before turning back to the text.

"Nothing that can be of any use to us." he finally said after a few moment of silence. Slowly he stepped back and turned to face Jadea.

"What is the progress so far?" Luin asked as he walked past her towards the crumbling stone threshold that led out of the tower.
As Jadea followed behind him she replied to his quiestion.
"Two more of the pieces have been recovered; one from the ruins of Anier and the other was found in a marketplace within Oruidea...We estimate that at least four other shards remain before the Key will be complete."

"Good..." Luin commented as they passed through the stone threshold out into the night. Luin paused in his stride for a moment to glance back at the Tower and the incription hiddin within. It seemed that the inscription granted him more worry than he cared to admit.
Still he turned back to continue on away from the tower, he had many pressing matters to tend to before his plan could truely come into effect.

Inscription within the Tower of Dalken

Through the creation of the Veil, our people shall fade, giving themselves to it's making.
The Key shall lend itself to both its birth and its undoing.

An age shall come when our people's greatest work shall be undone...
But in this destruction there shall be creation and we shall be reborn once again...

~Before Niobe could react, the environment that surrounded them, suddenlt began to fade from sight. Their images were replaced with that of planets and stars, followed by a prismic sky and a couldy river flowing beneath them. The waters of the river seemed to be a reflection of a thunderstorm, as they stood in the center of its current that seemed to be as thin as air. To the rear of the man, there was a grassy field, the sun gleaming down upon its earth. A single tree could be seen in the distance along with numerous insects. To her rear, there was a barren necropolis. Dead trees lined the river bank and various fireflies floated through the air. The torturous screams of men could be heard in the distance as she looked back at the man that stood before her. She knew exactly where she had been taken. They were standing on the plane that lurked between the realms of Life and Death...The Rim.~

"So the rumors were true. You are one of them, Kuroha."

Niobe. Surely you can feel it. The disturbances within. Someone has been tampering with the very boundaries that separate this sacred realm from that of the Mortal Realm.

"You tend to state the obvious. It still doesn't change the fact that your existence is meaningless to your so called Bretheren."

It amazes me that you could be so narrow-minded child. You relay your own personal experiences upon those who follow a path different from your own. In your eyes, your beliefs are truth. You refuse to accept the fact that it is YOU who are hiding behind your own traumatic experiences.

"SHUT-UP!!!"

The Ninth Gate has been opened. The Lord of the Dead himself now marches toward this very plane. He seeks out the cuase of the distortion in the barriers. What do you think will happen should he reach the mortal realm?

"How the hell am I supposed to know? Kill everything in sight maybe?"

In a sense. More specifically, he will bring your race as well as all life in the three kingdoms to the brink of extinction. Your necromantic abilities will be stripped as well as your longevity. You will be as vulnerable as the humans.

"If you're trying to humor me, you fail."

You are still hiding. I grow weary of this. I will let you discorver the truth for yourself. But by that time...it will already be too late. But know this...there is a war coming to this Realm, and we, the Descendants of Angellus intend to fight it by any means necessary.

~With that, the enviroment took another shift in appearance, runnning through the same motions as before. Soon after, Niobe found herself back within the Forest standing alone as Kuroha had vanished. HIs destination was unknown, but he did indeed leave her quite a bit if information to take in. He was known for confusing his enemies with enigmatic prophesies, but this time it seemed there had been some truth to his words. If he did indeed speak the truth, there was far more to this war than anyone could fathom. If she was indeed a pawn on the board, the three of them, Kuroha and his brothers must have been the Knight, Rook, and Bishop.~

~Azure had not been gone long before returning to the Keep of Baledon Sukiyo. There was silence about the keep as the Trenian Soldiers had withdrawn from their invasion. He had returned to the Citadel only to find both of his bretheren awaiting his return.~

My brothers...You honor me with your presence. I trust you have taken the time to test your abilities before returning to me?

I have had more than an opportunity. It is a shame however. I did not expect them to give up so easily.

Indeed. Even those that had been lying in wait within the Forest were incredibly weak. The very thought sickens me.

I assumed as much. However, these now foes will be more than enough entertainment. I assure you.

So tell me, brother. Why have you taken an interest in this war?

I only wish to end it all. Those weaklings are not worthy to witness the coming age when we shall reclaim this world.

You know. People do not take likely to changes in their normal lifestyle. They are used to governing themselves, and will not give in so easily.

So it seems. But do not be mistaken, I will not become a tyrant. I only wish to remove those who are in a position of power from theor pedastal.

I see. So how far are you willing to go with this mission.

As far as it takes...within reason.

Some things never change.

I suppose so.

Yes. So what is our first step?

You should already know the answer to that. Remove all threats. Starting with those infected by the Dailon parasite.

Azrielle and Malkaia are already gone. That only leaves Akurei and his daughter.

Yes, but something concerns me about that woman. She is not like Akurei nor is she like Azrielle. She was born with the parasite in her blood. They have formed a symbiotic bond that is far greater than that of her father. She will be far more difficult to eliminate.

Perhaps. But I assure you, you will not have to fight her.

What do you mean by that?

The woman does not approve of her blood, nor does she favor the ideals of her father. She feels that she alone is the catalyst of all the happennings of this realm. She seeks her own death, and will most likely take her own life. If possible, we must avoid this. She will be a most valuable ally.

I see. And what of the Nevar woman.

We will cross that bridge when we get to it. As of now, she is not a threat. Our paths may be different, but we fight for the same goal. AS long as that remains, we shan't be enemies.

After the battle, as the sun crested over the horizon heralding dawn's approach, Issildia along with her companions were recovering from the happenings of the night a few miles from the plains that surrounded Baledon Sukiyo. They had made camp within a wooded area populated with ancient rowan and oak trees.

"This has become a battle of many sides..." Issildia muttered distantly from where she stood a few yards away from the small fire that burned between she and the others of the group. Her arms were stiffly crossed as she leaned against the rough trunk of a towering oak.
"...My father's forces...the Trenians...the maharans of Baledon Sukiyo... where does that leave us? We are no different than them, neglecting to form alliances or choose sides...perhaps we share in both their ignorance and foolish pride...or perhaps this is how fate intended for such things to play out..." Looking away from the light cast by the fire she murmured to herself, "I simply do not understand anymore."

Sin sighed. He looked down at Issildia from the tree he was sitting in and then looked at his hands. Both palms were slightly burned and stung like a demon. He know they both would heal by tomorrow but it was a constant reminder about what happens to him when he uses his powers too much.

Shaking his head and trying to put the pain out of his mind he leaned back in the tree and looked up at the sky.

"Understanding is overrated... it makes you doubt, question, fear, and despair... all in the same moment if your not lucky.... Issildia I haven't understood half of what’s been going on since I've met you... but that hasn't stopped me from acting or doing something... This is a rare moment where we can actually plan, discuss, and think about what’s going on and about what we're going to do about it... I'm not sure where to start... but I guess what we are going to do next would be a good place..."

Seishin sat gazing blindly at the fire before him. he was sitting, his legs crossed and his hands laying motionless at his knees, palms flat, facing upward. Next to him lay his staff, which so far remained anonymously useless to anyone else but himself. In Kegawa was unsure of its use, knowing it did him no good as he was able to see just fine. Though he and Kegawa's reasons for following the group remained secret except to their own knowledge he knew nothing of why the group was formed. He was curious to what exactly was to be accomplished by anything they do.

"What.. do you seek? What is it you hope to accomplish by doing any of this?... What drives any of these things you do?

He had directed his pale glazed eyes towards Issilda seeing her perfectly in his mind. He wore no expression, no sign of curiousity or confusion; nothing that would betray him at all.

Through all this Kegawa remained silent sitting several feet away from Seishin. He gazed into the fire also curious to the answers of Seishin's questions. He enjoyed the warmth the fire gave off but depised the fire itself and what fire did to the earth. It caused only pain and destruction and for once pitied Sin who was cursed with such a gift. He gazed up into the tree towards Sin watching him for a moment before calling to him.

" Come down here. It looks like those arms could use some tending. I would also like to give you something else.. A gift from the earth I suppose you could say."

((*Cought*Sin*Coughcough*))

Sin looked down at Kegawa and shook his head slowly.

"Thanks but no thanks... the burns on my arm will heal themselfs by tomarrow... and as far as gifts from the earth... that would be more suited towards my brother then me...."

With that he lay back in the tree and looked upwards at the sky.

Issildia continued to draw her gaze away from them as she spoke.
"There was a time when I did not believe in Fate...but...now that our paths have been altered to such an extent...I do not know what to believe anymore."
Finally she looked back at them, her voice calm as she spoke, her words the truest she had ever shared with her comrades.
"When Anier fell...I believed that my only purpose was to avenge my people...and the atrocities committed against them. But I have come to realize that...the past can not be changed. Anier is gone and will never grace this world with it's presence again...but Larovia still remains...and as much as I may have despised it in the past...it is still being ruled by a tyrant that is willing to sacrifice the lives of his people to accomplish his own vendetta based upon his own shattered pride and need for vengeance."

She smirked slightly as she glanced away.
"I suppose Kyrion was right...I had become my father." she murmured to herself before looking back to the others.

"Whether I wish it or not...by my blood, I am tied to Larovia...making its people my kinsmen as well. All this time they have been suffering because I had been blinded by my own pre-justice and hollow purpose...Every time I fought Reinsen, I fought only for myself and those that had already passed beyond this realm...And every time I lost the battle. But no longer..." Issildia uttered softly.

"I may not understand the true meaning of this war...but I can not allow my father to bring an end to his own kingdom because his own petty pride rules him."

~As the sun began to grace the Baledon plains with its warm embrace, the Maharan Legions deployed by Azure had returned to their sanctuary. Azure and his brothers were all situated in their perspective chambers toward the summit of the Citadel. Their morale still as high as it were in the beginning, their victory feeding into their motivation. The efforts of Kuroha and Nahota had not gone unnoticed either as they had returned with the spoils of the war: Weapons left behind by the Larovians, documents containing vital information. And among all other things, the corpses of their fallen adversaries. They dragged the corpses within the walls of the keep outside the west gate, and sent a messenger to Reinsen Nevar informing him that he may return to claim his fallen. There was a momentary peace about the region and Azure and his people would take full advantage of their down time, for it was well earned and most likely the last they would receive for some time.~

The morning sun rose high over the larovian encampment as the dead were being recovered from the battlefield. Even though a grim stage was set before Reinsen's eyes he was not all that concerned with the night's events. Lines had been drawn and sides had been taken...there was no mistake now, as to who was friend and who was foe. Though he was slightly disappointed that the curse infesting Khastur's blood had not lingered for a bit longer...still things were progressing as planned.
When dusk descended upon these lands once again his army would advance upon Baledon Sukiyo with it's full force. Already a second battalion of his brother's had arrived from De'ris Ilen to join with the main force outside the forest barrier. Their numbers were growing as conscripts from the cities and villages of his kingdom were drawn out of the populous to aid in the campaign. Willful or not, the new recruits would serve his purpose just as well, Baledon Sukiyo would fall...and soon after his newly acquired enemy Akurei would be granted the same fate. Though unlike his brother, Reinsen remained ignorant of the forces at work in the war.

~Within the Forest of 1000 Souls~

"So we have an accord Luin?" Questioned Darsha Nevar coolly as he handed a small palm sized shard of a broken sword blade to Luin Ryera who stood a short distance from him.
"Yes." Replied Luin simply as he took the shattered remnant of a sword blade from Darsha, wordlessly drawing forth a similar metal shard from his cloak and comparing it to the one that Darsha had given him.

"So...if this is what you have been after...why the deception...why did you even seek the crystal remnants in the first place if they were not what you truly sought?" Inquired Darsha stoically as he looked grimly at the Ryera necromancer.

"All part of the illusion." Replied Luin. "Bringing all the players to the stage..." he added wryly.

"Some of course will only serve their purpose as a distraction...but others..." he said softly as he looked at the metal shard he had drawn from his cloak, the dark stains of blood still clinging to the silver metal.
"Others...have a far different role to play."

Luin looked out into the forest distantly.
"The Ithelri shall be made whole again...the Denian key shall once again fulfill it's purpose." he murmured softly.

Darsha glanced at Luin briefly.
"You do know that the Avariera never designed the Denian key to destroy the Veil...It was made to protect it...and guard the boundaries between the Realms of Life and Death. Reversing the Ithelri's function; and you yourself not even being of Avariera blood could be your undoing Ryera."

"You are well informed Nevar." countered Luin. "But this is my life's work...all shall come to pass as I intend."

"And what of the Crystals? Lord Takinowa still seeks them to accomplish his own goals...whatever they may be." Darsha stated flatly.

"I no longer need those trinkets...I never did. But those shards that were in my possession have been sent by messenger to be hidden within this very forest...whether Akurei finds them or not is not my problem anymore." replied Luin in a similar tone as Darsha's.

"Very well." Darsha concluded as he turned to leave.
"Keep up your end of the bargain Ryera...It took a great deal of time to come by that artifact...Still, now your goal is in reach...Aid me in removing my brother from the throne...and I will grant you the other half of our agreement. My brother's daughter will be delivered to you alive...so that your goal can be achieved...She will be brought to the Talnea forest when the appointed day arrives...Perhaps by then your part of the bargain will be complete Luin."

Smirking slightly, Luin replied, "Until then Nevar...."

At that the necromancer's body dissipated into an icy mist that immediately vanished into the air.

~From his position above, Azure could hear the commotion within his keep. Someone had penetrated his walls, and was now confronted by the Maharans that guarded his citadel. Kuroha and Nahota had already left to investigate the disturbance, and it was not long before Kuroha returned to his chamber. Speaking from outside the door, he informed his brother that he should meet him in the audience chamber. It did not take long for Azure to reply, as he left the comfort of his own quarters, and proceeded with his brother to the designated area. Once they arrived, the three of them took a seat on their perspective thrones, and watched as the guard dragged in a rather familiar woman. Her clothes were ragged, and her face bruised, and dirty. It seemed that she had been travelling for some time, and may have been caught in the crossfire of the previous night's battle. As they tossed her to the floor before the three brothers, she could only look up at Azure with somewhat of a smile.~

It took you longer to get here than I expected. I was beginning to believe you may have been killed in the battle...Miss Takinowa.

You have not changed in the least, my love. twisted

So she used to be Azure's lover. No wonder he didn't want her eliminated.

Yes. She has been in hiding for some time.

I can understand why. If she knew exactly what her father had been planning, she would be better off taking shelter in Natori.

You have seen it. You have seen what he was planning. He's seen what was in the tower, and he believes he will lead the world into a new age. Supposedly I am the key to his legacy.

Once again, you are poorly informed Akilah.

What?

What your father had seen was not the script within the Tower of Truth. No. In fact it was actually the Tower of Deciet.

What? So what are you trying to say? That the prophesy he spoke of...is a lie?

In a sense. He believes that his goals are absolute, but he doesn't know that the path he chose will inevitably lead him to his own destruction.

And what of Larovia's involvement? They gather their strength to take this keep as we speak. I am sure that by duck, they will be prepared to launch another strike.

Let them come. In one night, the people of this city although greatly outnumbered, have nearly crippled the Larovian forces. They were forced to send for reinforcements to replenish their own numbers. We have suffered little casualties. Even in the midt of all this, the three of us held off the Trenian army from laying seige to this keep. Their numbers were more than halved. Should we decided to attack, their numbers would be deminished in the course of a few hours.

Well if that's the truth? Why don't you attack? You could easily end this. Why not act now?

Allow Fate to run its course Akilah.

I beg your pardon?

The Fates of these two emperors has been set. They are destined to die by the blades of their own kin. Even now, Darsha Nevar plots against his own brother, while his daughter rebels against them both. The true enemiy has yet to reveal himself, but once he does, we will take the appropriate measures.

And if this keep falls...then what will you do?

Do not concern yourself with such matters. Although the Maharans who protect this sacred ground may give their lives in battle, this keep will remain standing. As long as the three of us Reign over Baledon Sukiyo, this keep is nigh on Inpregnable. I will ask you but once Akilah...Stand with us and fight.

~Azure stands from his throne and offers his hand to Akilah. She only looks up at him for a brief moment. Her Dailon blood sensing the sincerity in his words, she realized that she had no where else to go. She hesitantly reached up and took his hand, allowig him to hoist her off of the ground to her feet.~

What would you have me do...my Lord.

You may used my chamber to bathe and dress yourself. I expect this battle to me far worse than the last. You must be prepared for the worst.

Niobe stood once more in the Forest of Falnea, disoriented but unscathed. Her slender face made no attempt to show her contemplative state. Unfortunately, Niobe was not able to remain this way for long as one thought forced itself to the front of her mind.

"The Army!"

She had forgotten just that quickly, a bit shaken by her encounter with her old aquaintance. Adrenaline immediatly began to course through her body as she took off running, hoping that there was still something she could do.~
PostPosted: Wed Sep 06, 2006 9:51 pm

~As dusk settled in over the Baledon region, the city had grown silent. It was not because the city was desolate, no, it was in fact due to the fact that the inhabitants themselves were in meditation. They would not leave the city to do battle with the armies that threatened their existence. They would defend their home from within the very walls of the keep. This battle would not be so simple as the last. This time they were being attacked from both the north and the south. The East and West walls were sealed, providing no entry from wither army. The only means of entry were the Gates to the north and the south.

The enemy: Larovian forces led by Reinsen Nevar himself. They had sought the aid of Darsha, Reinsen's younger brother in this time of need, and were seeking to take the city in order to secure a stringhold for their true target...Akurei Takinowa, and his Army which hailed from Trenia Sekia. They held little malice toward the Larovians, their objective was Azure and his bretheren. ANyone else who stood in their path was open game. In the midst of all this, Azure and his bretheren had taken up arms and joined the battle at the fronts. Kuroha at the North to face off with Larovia, and Nahota at the South to once again thwart the Trenian charge. Azure had taken his usual place upon the terrace of the keep only this time he was accompanied by Akurei's only daughter, Akilah Takinowa. As the two of them over looked the city, Azure released a single battle cry which echoed throughout the city.~

The bones of our enemy shall gleam under the Sun!!!

~Azure's words seemed to trigger a series of roars and shrieks from his people as they responded in kind to his words. This battle was not one of pride at this point. The very survival of his people depended on this battle. Though he did not expect everyone to survive the encounter, he was obviously planning something far greater for this battle. The Maharan that inhabited this Keep were oblivious to his intentions, while his bretheren were briefed on the vitals of the strategy. Their roles were set, and it was now up to the four of them to play their parts accordingly. If the enemy of their enemy was not their ally, they were condemned.~

Sin started awake suddenly, nearly falling out of the tree in the process, by a distance sound of yelling or shouting or some such nonsense. Leaning up he stretched for a moment hopping down form the tree afterwards. Landing on the ground he first looked at his hands, seeing the burns from yesterday only a red mark that would also heal by the end of the day, providing he didn't push it too much.

Looking about at the camp he noticed the still sleeping forms of his comrades, assuming several were already awake by now, and walked away from the camp towards a small stream that was just outside the clearing where they spend the night. Kneeling down on part of its small sandy shore he clasped two handfuls of water and brought them up sharply to his face, splashing cold water over him and wakening him up effectively.

Standing up he stifled a yawn, the water only going so far, and slowly took off his vest and shirt, tossing them into the water, and let them soak for a moment before taking them back out and wringing them over the stream. Heading back to camp he tossed the wet garments over him, his body slowly drying them, and started to tend to the embers in their fire from last night.

((is it morning or is it Dusk? Raven says morning and Azure says dusk so I'm not sure who to go by...))
