"Oh!! Sure!"Celia immediately brightened. Lying to Neith had been very hard, but, if she was doing the elder dragon a favor, didn't that make up for it? Even if she hadn't fibbed, she would have done it anyway...besides! Now her being...bookish, had a point!

That of course, made her day.

((m'k. One small thing...I can't remember the description of the necklace at all, and is it actually in the manga?? If so....Help me out her. Celia is the one with the amazing retention skills, not me....
Celia: *blink; blink*))

((*sends Sujika a PM*))

"What's wrong with the Lord?" Baran cocked his head to one side, feeling distinctly, well, rude for daring to ask such a question. He did not really expect an answer, but hoped Illusia might at least elaborate a bit.

"I'm not sure what you're expecting from me. What am I supposed to be looking for? I mean," he continued, leaning forward again as a note of panic entered his voice, "I don't even know how to control what I'm doing. It's not some sort of skill like you are making it sound like. It's just an involuntary reaction and I don't think I can do anything with it. I mean, I want to; I'd really like to help, don't get me wrong, but it's not like I can just turn it on and off or anything. If there's something that triggers it I can tell and I can tell kinda how big it is or how close it is, but that's it. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but I just don't think you guys get it. It's not like I could tell you if Celia was using a spell to water the plants in the garden right now. I could say that someone, somewhere, was using magic and that it's either a pretty small amount or it's pretty far away or else it's being really well contained and not leaking much at all." He took a steadying breath, slowing his speaking back to a more normal rate. "Sir, I'm not trying to say that you haven't put thought into this or anything. I just think you're expecting something different from what I can give you.

"Wonderful. Now, if you'll both excuse me, I have things to be attending to." Nieth gave Micoi and Celia a nod and returned to the castle.

Micoi had just smiled brightly at Neith and remained in place until the older dragon had disappeared from sight completely, then... she swirled and latched onto both Celia's hands with her own. "Thank you!" she cried lightly so not to be heard, even if Neith was gone by now. Golden eyes stared into the knight's own orbs. "Celia, will you take me to town tomorrow?! ...Or whenever that suits you," she added more like an afterthought when she noticed how desperate and demanding she sounded. Sweatdropping, Micoi smiled, feeling a bit foolish now over her reaction, though she was still holding Celia's hands in hers.

((XD;; Micoi the spaz. XD;;; ))

Illusia let the other speak, he guessed he could allow Baran that so that he didn't feel like they didn't understand. When the poor fighter, no rider, finally slowed down and at last stopped talking, Illusia gave him a light smile, slightly amused.

"Don't get us wrong, Baran," he said reassuringly. "We know that your powers are still raw. If I'm not mistaken even Aiketh didn't know you had those powers. We are not expecting miracles, not yet," he added as a joke, smiling lopsidedly to make that clear, "and that's also why we're going to train you. I believe that if your powers had been stronger we would have noticed them earlier and done something about it already. It's a regrettable mistake on our part, forgive us," the officer apologized with a bow of his head.

"We've not been able to evaluate your magical capability yet but that will come soon enough and then we will be able to guess on an about how much we can expect of you," the dragon smile before his expression grew grave again. "But to return to your inital question..." Illusia paused, turning his head slightly down to study the oaken desk. A moment passed before he raised his eyes again. had he been arguing with himself about how much to tell the other? "Our Lord seems to..." A pause and then a sigh, accompanied by a light shake of the head. "Lord Jett told us that the last time he fought the Youkai Lady she did something, but nothing showed and thus he thought nothing had happened. And it remained dormant, if we now should call it that, until recently." Pale eyes bore into Baran's from across the furniture.

"We fear that the trip to Arinas, the continent's or our Lady's magic activated something. You might not be able to tell us much more than what you already have from your trip and time there but... anything new that resurfices after this briefing would be appreciated, anything as your training begins even," Illusia said, letting his eyes stray to the tabletop again.

"The curse on our Lord, since that seems to be what it is, is malignant in a passive sense. It is not as the Lord Lykouleon's curse," he assured the other. "Jett is in perfect health, but the curse is subtle and could do damage when not controlled.

"We know that the youkai companion of the Queen-to-be does what is best for the Lady, or at least as far as we know. But we do not know anything else about him," Illusia said firmly, looking up at Baran again. "We do not know of his alliances. Nothing. Yes, he seems to have kept teh Queen-to-be safe and sound all these years but we know nothing else about him and it's unlikely that the Lady would ever speak ill of him or reveal anything that we might disapprove of." Illusia took a moment to inhale and relax, noticing that he had slowly been raising his voice and speaking faster and faster.

"Therefore, I repeat, anything new that you can come to think of from the trip would be of use for us," he finished. "However," he smiled lightly now, feeling calm again, "we do not want to pressure you so don't delve too deep into it. Your upcoming training, both the physical and mental as well as magical one, will be more taxing than your previous one, so focus mostly on that. I will personally be instructing you in some parts of the magical training too. Actually, you'll be seeing both me and Aiketh quite a bit because we're the ones who are operating this.

"Now... was there any other question you had?" the Yellow Officer finished.

((=D Kami: *hint hint* The fact (if you remember) that Kanak had put up an illusion over Micoi's Dragon Eyes and even told them that the Queen was somewhere else. *blink* He did send them on their way and even if it was to get a few moments alone with Micoi... they don't know that because I don't think she told them. Ne?))
PostPosted: Thu Aug 30, 2007 5:16 pm

"Oh, um...um sure,"said Celia, honestly a bit taken aback by the queen's sudden eagerness, "But...But I don't really...know the city that well...I mean..." Truth be told, last night had really been the first time she had been there for more than a few moments.

'Don't worry, I've got it covered. I've been there more than eneough for one lifetime, so I should at least know where we're going,"Kohaku was being most helpful. He seemed to like this idea.

"Really? Thanks so much!"She said, beaming like a little girl, as she picked him up from around her shoulders, and hugged him. He didn't seem to mind as much as she would normally have thought, but right now the knight was in too good of a mood to really notice much.

"Great!" Micoi beamed too, the two of them probably either looking like little suns or maniacs or complete airheads to anyone who saw them in that moment.

"So when do you have time?" Micoi asked, still smiling. "Since you're going to look up the thing for Neith, I mean. Or will you be doing that after dinner?" the Queen-to-be asked, tilting her head.

((XD;; Do you like my spazzy little Queen, Sujika?))

((Nadil: I remember now. =D And damn you, making me read all that. xDD;;))

Baran relaxed slightly, slumping down a little in his chair. He was tired suddenly, and overwhelmingly relieved that nothing too bad had happened, not yet. He remembered learning something about the previous Dragon Lord that Illusia had mentioned. In fact, he had heard the name, and that of Lord Rath, even before he had come to the castle. That in and of itself was not so unusual; they were the prior rules of the country, after all. He had heard the name of Lykouleon on several occasions, however, and never in a negative context, unless it was concerning the rather grotesque manner of his death.

"Uh," he glanced briefly into Illusia's golden eyes before looking awkwardly away. "No. I can't think of anything."

((Mwahahaha!! The power of Nadil shines true! XDD
o.O; And, Kami... you're wet... XD; ))

The officer tilted his head ever so slightly to the side, as if visually asking the other if he was sure, but then straightened up, the action being so small and shortlived that one could have missed it. "Alright," Illusia said with a nod, "then, for the day, you are excused. You may go back to the barracks and do as you please, spend time with the others or train as you wish. As of tomorrow, your position and schedule will be changed to that of a Dragon Rider, although you do not have to change dormatories or anything if you do not wish it. We'll make sure to have one of the maids deliver the new uniform, even though you won't need them much unless you're going to some event or mission. The belt will probably be the only thing that changes in your usual attire," the officer finished and stood up.

"We will not put it on you to watch your surroundings for anything suspicious, but seeing as our young Lady seems to have a passion for sparring... if you see or hear anything odd around her time with the fighters or about her, please do report it." The man's eyes fell to the desk again. "We do not wish to suspect the Queen-to-be but for the sake of our Lord, and due to the recent developments since she has been part of them all, we need to stay alert and updated when it comes to her. If it's someone controlling her..." he looked up at Baran again, "then we shall do our best to protect her too." Illusia gave a final smile and a nod. "You may leave if there was nothing else you were wondering about."

((=D What do you think of spaz Micoi, Kami? XD; ))

"I...I um..."She was suprised, that was for certain. Micoi was so energetic! "I...I'm free...A lot of the time, actually..."Celia replied, not really sure what to say to this sudden excitedness.

After just a second, the Knight noticed the necklace that Micoi was wearing. She certainly remembered seeing it...but not off hand what she remembered of it. However, that was a good start; It would make finding the information easier.

"Right." Baran stood, momentarily forgetting himself. "Uh, thanks. Sir." He ducked his head in a motion a little more formal than a nod. He started for the door, then stopped a few feet short. "Tomorrow... do I need to come find you or Officer Aiketh in the morning? I'm really not sure what the Dragon Riders do..." Baran rubbed the back of his head, making the short hair messy.

Micoi smiled brightly. "That's great! Well, for me at least," she babbled on, rubbing the back of her head slightly before straightening up again. The young Queen-to-be was only an inch or so taller than the knight. "How's about tomorrow around ten or something?" she asked with a warm smile.

"Let's dress casually so not to stand out too much. Actually, the more we blend in the better," Micoi noted to herself before her eyes landed on Kahaku. After a second or two of brain-storming, she said, "Can't you use your dragon as a very fancy scarf or something? It almost looks like it, lying there on your shoulders..." she said, tiling her head and looking thoughtful.

Illusia gave a nod reply. "Yes, after the normal morning training, because you shouldn't drop one thing in favor of another when you'll need both, you can come to my office and we'll see exactly how much we, reasonably, can expect from your magical abilities. I'm sorry if you were expecting any kind of ceremony or the like to mark the promotion but we usually don't so not to blow up the different ranks. Also, this was all decided in a bit of a rush due to the recent developments."

"Um..well..."Celia wasn't too confident in her skills at hiding things, none the less Kahaku who was more than likely going to move.

'Don't worry, I can just hide in the sword. Then you could just wake me if you needed me,'said the little dragon, lifting his head up from her shoulders, and rubbing it against her affectionately.

Celia smiled, and stroked his neck a little bit, knowing she wouldn't be afraid to let him back out again; She knew he was thinking the same thing. They were friends now, after all. As a matter of fact, the Knight could hardly even immagine keeping him shut up so long again...she would miss him!

((Yay for Celia! <33

Nadil: I rather like her, actually. xDD))

"Alright, sir." Baran nodded with an inner sigh of relief. While some sort of party or ceremony would have been fun, he had to admit that he did not feel in the mood for it at the moment. He would prefer for the transition to be as smooth and painless as possible. "I'll come to your office in the morning, then." He ducked his head in a short bow and exited the room quickly, desiring to return unnoticed to the HQ. Maybe he would be able to get back just as practice was ending... then he might be able to slip off by himself for a little bit. As much as he wanted to talk to his friends, he also wanted to let the new information sink and and he did not think that would happen in the loud confines of the group.

***

That evening after dinner Nieth left the kitchens early, trusting that the work would be done even without her presence. All the maids knew why she was not as around as much as usual and she trusted that they understood why it had to be so.

She climbed the stairs quickly, her heels sharply clicking on the floor.

"My lady Micoi?" Nieth knocked once before turning the handle of the room the younger woman was staying in. "May I come in?

((=D Yay! <3 XD;

Oh yeah, we jumped to the evening, after dinner, because there really wasn't much else to do... <.< >.>; ))

The young dragon looked up from where she sat in a plush armchair with a book. "Sure," she nodded, then added, more like a joke, "you're already halfway in anyway, so..." she grinned. "You wanted to talk to meabout something, right?" Micoi asked, not remembering completely what it was.

Putting aside the book, closing it, Micoi turned towards the Head Maid as the older woman closed the door behind her. "Something about the wedding, right?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 02, 2007 7:35 pm

"Yes..." Nieth settled herself into the second chair in the room, pressing a hand to her temples briefly. "Before the wedding, I would like to move you from this guest room into one more fitting for your status. The Dragon Queen traditionally has a set of more private chambers which include a bedroom in addition to the one shared with the Dragon Lord. It should be fine for you to move there. There will be more space for you and I think it would be good for you to become more accustomed to that area of the castle. Also, there is a corridor connecting your private bedroom there to my one, which will come in great handy as the wedding gets closer and I need to see you more often. Also," she leaned back in the chair, stretching her back briefly before relaxing, "I do need to start meeting with you about the design of your dress. I would like to make it distinctly your own, but I'm afraid I don't know much about the fashion of Arinas." Nieth gave a small tight smile. "You'll have to explain it to me sometime.

Now," the woman sat up straighter, reaching across the space between them, and placed her hand on Micoi's leg. "I want to talk to you about Lord Jett."

Micoi smiled lightly as the other spoke, trying to keep a nice face on eevn though all of this was making her feel not so nice... so to speak. When Neith suddenly mentioned Jett, Micoi visibly jerked backwards a bit in her chair, at least her upper torso did.

"Him?" she said with a slight, unhappy grimace in place, not even gracing the Lord with his title or given name. That didn't bode well. "What about him?" she asked, eyeing Neith suspiciously.
