Hunter watched the going-ons with the elves rather carefully, though discreetly. he had no need to get into another argument with certain parties at this time, so he mostly minded the ship and keeping her on course and his crew under the tight controls he usually did. including mister richards for now, keeping his ears open for any information reguarding potential headings.

Fang smiled lightly to himself, and got himself up and walked out on deck to his first mate.

"we'll hold here for now. send a communication to the Riders. seems there's another dragon player on this chess board. he wants our and thier assistance. which they are to give. however, if things turn south on us, or...if an opportunity presents itself with minimal risk, we'll take him down. He's hiding things, and I have no doubts he's already planned for the dissolution of this agreement in his favor."

A small draw from his pipe.

"We'll just have to double-cross him first, and better...once we have our payment secured."

Malik smirked at his second born.

"Actually, Dhairiss, your staying put for the evening. I want to make sure they at least get a day and evening travel unmolested from this recent repair. after that, then you and I can head home and your mother can give me her lectures about overstaying my welcome and being overbearing toward my daughter."

Desdemona had been thinking devious thoughts. evil, wicked, though not a bad prospect thoughts if one was mildly interested. so she dressed herself in a harem girl outfit, complete with low top that had the dangling stones and the see-through gauze pants with a solid pair of lacy underwear. all in red to go with her bronze skintone and fiery hair.

So she slipped up on deck, and into the captain's quarters to wait and be devious and hatch other plots in her head.

"See, you're staying one more night, Dhairiss. That means we can sleep together again." Wrapping one arm around him and grinning, "And you can bother Savvy for a little while too. But you'll be back. I know it." Giving a smile to Caden, "He simply can't stay away sometimes. If we put a tattoo person here, he'd be here so much he'd set up residency." Rolling her eyes at that one and then searching for Sky to make sure she was coming along too.

"I see. That is a slight dilemma but a dilemma nonetheless." She glanced up sharply as the ship tended to its normal movments, then made a mental note in her mind to handle a few things later. "You fear he is too single-minded and that could very well be true. Kaznec is of the form that uses logic and deductive reasoning. You, however, are very creative and often emotional. Still, two sides of the same coin much like love and hate. Can you keep the secret safe without it destroying you by being forced into a role you don't necessarily want to fill?"

She was being her happy self, trotting/gliding along the sands this time next to the ship as it moved along through the sand, apparently just having a good old time while being equally fascinated by the glimpses she caught on deck of those there. Those othere dragons could look like these people, did that mean she could do it too?

"And apparently things never go according to plan. It's because I'm the middle child, isn't it? And you know, mom is gonna hurt you if you keep talking about her like that." SHaking his head but with a chuckle. Didn't bother him if he had to stay another night. Though it was intriguing to see how his father wanted to more or less safeguard his sister. Hell, he remembered a time when Malik refused to even look Savvy when she was a baby, let alone hold her or freely interact with her. Had been a very traumatic experience for them all really. But it was nice to see the change. But he rolled his eyes and gave a lon suffering sigh while he mussed Shyrae's hair at her teasing as it followed. Yup, he was the one who was on the joke end. "I would beg to differ. I'm afraid Andal has spoiled me in that department. So there." Childishly sticking his tongue out at her.

She blinked a little surprised by the new little tidbit of information. They were going to stay another span of time. Sure she wouldn't say it...but it made her want to smile, internally of course, about it. Was nice to know that they cared. Reaching back to her shoulder she scratched at Chylithair's feathers around his neck as he made soft cooing noises of appreciation. "So be it then."

Well there was the million dollar question if there ever was one. "Sometimes we have to settle for what we can give and what we can get. And those of us who are beggers cannot be choosers." While yes she was often wishy washsy, she still also had the mind of a strategist and thought on those terms when it came to the hard things in life. This was just another one of those...and right now she had other issues on her mind as well...like the resembelence between her and one little sky blue dragon. "Personal pains aside...are you pleased with the progress we've made? A few shards is more than we had before..." Now she was indeed looking to change the subject.

"Well trust me even though small dragons can be cute it's the adult ones that are even better. As long as they don't eat you." A light chuckle from him but a blink of surprise because it seemed that indeed they were going to stay one more night. Though he rolled his eyes and smiled as the elf seemed to have become the butt of jokes again. "Is that a fact eh? Well then I'll make sure to get one after he leaves just in case he may come back. He could be useful around the ship, a good source for humor."

Shyrae's response was instantaneous. She calmly reached up and held his tongue so he couldn't put it back in his mouth then gave him a grin. "Andal has spoiled you on a lot of things, but so has Twilight. You D'vinn's are the most spoiled kids I've ever had the pleasure to know."

Eilynne frowned at that particular word choice and shook her head. "A child should never have to beg for affection. Sadly, many do." She didn't know Jae's past but she sensed a need, maybe for answers, maybe for affection outside of the bounds of friendship for one she felt strongly for. Regardless, it was there, calling out to Eilynne.

She let it go as the girl decided it was too painful to talk about, which was the real reason behind the subject change and nodded. "I have no pride in finding something that never should have been lost and destroyed in the first place, but I am grateful for the help and have found many reasons to take delight in those I chose. There are reasons far beyond each individual's scope that explain why they are here. Even if some seem superfluous or only useful at certain times." Speaking to Jae specifically? Why, yes, she was.

He had been about to retort...when he lost the use of his tongue. Oh yeah that looked good. Standing there, with his tongue being held by Shyrae. Thusly, he crossed his arms and gave her the 'let go' frown. How did he always get himself into these things.

"You have no room to talk, you're spoiled too."

"More stolen than lost. That's what happens in times of peace and fruition though. People become ignorant to dangers and now we've had to suffer for it for many a long and tiring year. I can see how your kind would be disappointed with our lack of progress. Maybe you were meant to step in all along." Drawing in a breath and holding it a moment before letting it out and let her eyes roam about. She hadn't see Kaz yet since he had left and well...they had left now. Though she was sure he wouldn't let himself get left behind, he wasn't silly in that manner.

But a blink at the last of her statements and it seemed that the description there was directed right at Bell. She kenw that tone after all. Koto liked to use a variation of it when he didn't want her around because of 'how she was'. So great, now her purpose here seemed nothing more than like a piece of rope you needed. She had helped once, but look what happened thereafter. "So why am I here?" Let's just tackle things head on, shall we?

Caden couldn't help but burst out laughing at the sight of Dhariss and Shyrae. Some people thought that elves always thought they were high and mighty over humans. This little sight showed that no matter what they were good people, always joking around and having fun just like everyone else. "Just be glad she's not cleaning it out with soap." He grinned a little and crossed his arms loosely, now will Shyrae let go or will Dhariss have to figure a way to get out? Whatever the answer was this was still funny to watch.

She gave him a sweet little smile and shook her head, then released his tongue and pressed a noisy kiss to his cheek. "Yes, I am. But not like you and your brothers are. You especially have something I don't in that you are the only girl. Though I suppose it doesn't count since both of my sisters are older and whatnot. Okay, I'll tie with you. We're both spoiled about the same amount. How's that?" Patting Dhairiss on the cheek, "Now, blast me with whatever you were going to say."

"I believe we should have stayed much closer and assisted you. This is not the fault of Ilindal but the fault of my kind's neglect of something special. It was our responsibility to give you the defenses reuquired to keep it safe or to remain with you and help guard it and we shirked our duty. That is why Rahsaveer and I are here. To right a wrong we imposed on you by our unlawful neglect."

And onto other subjects. Eilynne's small fingers stopped their petting for a moment and she hesitated. "I will not tell you the true reason for that you must find out for yourself. Your gifts are helpful in many ways, Jaebelltiah. You are on a journey; to find yourself, your past, or your love for something you thought was out of your reach, the end result is up to you. I cannot make choices for you but you have begun your path." Retaking to sliding her fingers through the girl's hair, she nodded. "What I can tell you is what you add to this voyage; light, laughter, and a unique personality and perspective. Your creations mystify me and I am astounded everytime I see what new idea you have implemented. You are faithful, ambitious and full of life. That is reason enough for me." The first glimmers of a smile played about Eilynne's lips. "Now tell me how wrong I am or brush it off like it means nothing."

He narrowed his eyes slightly at the laughter from Caden, but then just gave a sigh and dropped his posture, especially as Shyrae took about adding more to it all. "Ah forget it, you'll just find a new way to make fun od me and what not. I think you find it a sport." He patted her on the head with a chuckle, "You should pick on someone your own size, shorty." And a look over to Caden, "With soap? Ew."

Ha, it was comical. It had to be. Such a reason like that was why she was along here? It seemed...to grand, too fulfiling. Such grand things should come to grand people. She was quite...happy...she supposed...with how things were. But the latter half of the mini speech did make a smile tug at her lips. "Now that latter half, I have to do nothing but agree with you I suppose. I am a rather...erm, unique...person to have on this little adventure. If anything I can make people laugh or at the very least smile." Letting her smile widen a little, "My little inventions astound you do they? I don't think I've ever heard them described that way. Merely a thought brought to life through mechanical means."

"Good choice there Dhairiss, better not add any more kindle to the already burning flame." A small nod as he leaned against the railing of the ship and raised an eyebrow at the elf a little bit. "You mean you never had your mouth washed out with soap from your mother?" Elves must have different ways of disciplining their children then.

"Of course I do you silly elf. That's why I do it. But it's all in the love I feel for you." Giving him a laugh and then glancing over to Caden. "The only time I ever had soap in my mouth was when I was little and I dropped my cup on the ground, picked it up and drank out of it before anyone could get it away from me. My father just couldn't stand it, but even then it was mostly water based and I got a treat afterwards because he made me cry."

Eilynne knew the way her thought patterns moved and was quick to zero in on those attributes she didn't see or felt were being made too grandiose for her. She had so much to learn, truly. "They are personal, useful, and consistent. Your mind is an amazing gift bestowed upon you for a reason. You are using that gift to assist others instead of your own selfish means. That is truly what astounds me. You have a pure soul and it is beautiful."

"I know when to shut my mouth." But he made a face of some sorts and shook his head. "My mother would never do something to me like that if she was trying to punish me. That's just horrid. What purpose does that serve and what kind of sense does that make? You can't change a person's talking mannerisms with washing out their mouths with soap...do you all really believe that." Obviously, the middle child D'vinn was rather ignorant to humans and their ways. His father probably liked it better that way, cosnidering the boy's demeanor. Triple colored eyes turned to Shyrae again, "I remember that. He only made you swish a little...you were crying mostly because it smelled funny."

She blinked a little, not quite sure to do with the description of herself that she had been handed out. "Um...thank you." What else did you say to that? Could't let it just go. A little sigh, "Maybe that's why I keep doing it rather than letting the discouragement of others stop me. I need to think up something new...or let inspiration whack me in the head. I always feel better when I'm messing around with such things."

"I had other means of discipline, guardian. means that were a bit harsher probably by your standards, but only had to be applied once."

marching over by the bow of the ship, leaning out and looking at the rolling sands. interesting enough though that it moved like water, but wasn't.

"things can only get worse. they've had thier own issues, and you and I, Dhairiss, are at elast going to make sure that we start this leg of the journey without a problem."

Hunter left the helm, and took a walk down by Savvy.

"do you think you'll do fine without your father here, or should I just be ready to put you in the brig before you and I have seventeen more fights and issues?"
PostPosted: Fri Oct 26, 2007 10:44 pm

"Things can only get worse." He gave a chuckle to that as his attention flitted to his father from the sound of his name being spoken. Well, that was dad for you. He was the pessimist, mom was the optimist...sometimes. "Right-o dad. Can do. I suppose it's a bit of a break from home and what not after all." After all, meant he didn't have his older brother to tease him...then again he had his sister around who liked to hurt him rather than play tease back at him. Hm...which was worse? That was a good question. He was sorely tempted to ask what was going on between father and daughter, but knew that it wasn't his place to ask really. That was between mom, dad, and Savvy.

Ears twitched at the sound of purposeful footsteps that were quite different from the random ones around her of crew members working as they needed to work. "I am not a baby and I do not need my father around to behave. He just happens to know how to act toward me." Sure...her and Malik had had problems from before she was born but things had smoothed out, and now it seemed they were finally on the up and up. But he had never treated her like she wasn't capable of doing things. "Do well toward me and I'll try my best to do well toward you. Savvy?" Savryn knew better than to make a promise she couldn't keep.

Learning the ways of bartering with nomads had been interesting to say the least and now he was a few coins lighter and one pouch of nomadic medicinal herbs and powders and such heavier. The smell that emanated from the pouch was interestingly bland yet spicy at the same time, and he hoped that it would help her. As the ships glided back into motion, he took to the air, catching his morning flight of sorts until he found himself more or less flying next to the little skyblue dragon. Hmm... Shyrae had enlisted their help to aid in her recovery but how exactly were you supposed to talk to a creature that didn't reciprocate?
