SHADOW

He had to admit, she had a gift that he was envious of. If he could draw the way she did, he would not need to fight. Then again, he liked fighting. Something about getting up close and personal with your prey was primordially satisfying. But, she had done it her way, and it had worked. Well, mostly.

All Shadow had to do now was figure out a way to get by this green horn of an agent. She couldn't have been much older than Relm. That was a little disturbing. He hoped he wouldn't have to hurt her. Yeah he had a reputation that he would uphold, but there were some things that he disliked.

In any case, he waited until the people were cleared out. The woman, still hanging around, would be taken care of one way or the other. For now, he would use a simple distraction. So, pulling a small bag of gil from his belt, he slipped around the corner enough to see her, and tossed the bag just past her, so she would have to turn away from him to look.

As the bag landed with the familiar c***k of coinage, the girl turned on her heel and looked in the direction of the sound. Shadow, taking the chance, slipped around and came up behind her. A swift move, he drew his blade and slid it around the front of her neck while grabbing her arm. "Please. I would rather not hurt anyone. So do not call out."

Everything seemed to be going well enough, she wasn't to worried about the lady Turk, Shadow was quick to sneak up on her in his own tricky way,or rather, trick her. Pretty sad for a Turk to fall for something so easily, but hey, ShinRa was all scum, and so was anyone working for them!

It wasn't until another blade was pressed against Shadow's neck from behind, that got her worried. So worried in fact her concentration was broken just enough so her drawling minion vanished.

"Hmm..I must congratulate you on getting this far, unfortunately, I have activated the silent alarm and pin pointed this location. You two, are now on camera. You may as well give up here and save the trouble, there is no way to escape the soldier's that are now on their way here.." She wasn't talking about a few dozen, ether. Many. MANY of them were on the way, and all of them were heavily armed. "You'll want to let her go now, or else, should I turn my blade to the smaller one you have with you? " Why any adult would bring a young girl in a place like this was beyond her, but she had no real sympathy for her or him.

Well this was embarrassing. Here he was, being all sneaky and what not, and this woman goes and sneaks up on him like it was nothing. This just wouldn't do. But, he couldn't very well go and not do as she had said. But, he didn't have to completely listen to her one hundred percent.

He brought his blade away from the woman's throat and smiled under his mask. "Run away, child. Today is your lucky day." He didn't bother to move anymore. But when the first girl was gone he started to chuckle.

"You have me at knife point, and all I can think is that I'm not the one you should be worrying about." He was praying against hope that Relm would catch on and work some magic right now. He could get them out of here, but he needed to be able to move first. But maybe he could stall her a bit. Give his daughter some time to work.

"So do you dance? I dance." And with that he shot forward. He needed to get away from her blade and give her a reason to chase, so he tossed a star behind him at no real direction in hopes to give her enough reason to come after him.

"Hmm? Are you seriously threatening me with something? I see nothing here but a failure of a ninja, and a little girl and her pet dog. " It was laughable, that small dog. What were they thinking?

She did however, take a moment to glance to the girl and tiny pincer of a dog. That moment would cost her concentration on Shadow unfortunately, and thus, as he shot forward suddenly, the ninja star tossed out was lucky enough to nick her across the cheek. Well, that pissed her off just a tad. "Tch..run, I like to chase my prey.." With that said, Avena rushed for the dark clad man. Completely oblivious to the spell Relm was now creating with each stroke of her brush!

Judging by the nature of their problems, she decided to draw a fire bomb. What better to bring out in a group of many soldiers? After a few attacks, it would blow up in all their faces! Yes, it was perfect. ...As long as Shadow and Relm weren't in the way when it happened. In what seemed like seconds, a burst of flame appeared there before the small girl, as it turned to face Avena, apparently Relm was controlling it to wait for the real threat, unless Shadow thought it better to release it on her.

Shadow had come to expect many things when dealing with Relm and her ability. Ok that was a lie. He hadn't spent a lot of time with her because, well he never spent a lot of time with anyone. Or in any one place, for that matter. So when a bomb materialized out of thin air, for a split second his heart raced with adrenalin.

He rounded and came about only to head back towards Relm. He had a plan. So as he got close he knelt down next to her. "Alright. So that hing, when the rest of the party shows up, send it at them." He scooted close and hugged her tight. "Did I tell you I learned to fly?"

Not really. The best he could do was float. But he had a little trick up his sleeve and he figured that now, being this high up in a sky scraper, was a pretty good time as any to impress his daughter. After all, he had a few years to make up for when it came to lost time. If she could only see that he was smiling under his mask. This was kinda fun.

The large fiery living bomb remained exactly where Relm command it to be, keeping sort of watch. When her father returned to her side, she was careful to move it just a little away from him, while still keeping it in front of them for added protection. "Right! Got it.." The young girl smirked in delight, why did she want to see this happen so much?

Feeling him suddenly hug her tightly, followed by his question, Relm began to look a little confused! "...What do you mean? You can fly? ....Wait, you aren't thinking.......! " He wasn't seriously plotting to jump off the tallest building of Midgar, was he?! "I-I don't think I can handle that! " Though, maybe she could. And maybe it would even be fun, both Shadow and her seemed to enjoy these little thrills of battle, why not a different, heart racing one to add to the fun?

And suddenly, out of no where...! Shots were fired multiple times, almost like a machine gun with just how rapid they were. Relm would see the storming troops rushing toward them, to which she quickly acted to send the living bomb rushing for them! Naturally, they would fire at the creature. Their own firing would bring them their own doom as it grew with each bullet strike. It was about to blow up, and judging by the size of it right at this moment, Nether Relm or Shadow wanted to be there when it exploded!

And the moment of truth was on them. Gun shots were fired and he didn't much like that. So, with Relm in his arms, he flew into action. Running. He ran, first towards the bomb. Then he realized how stupid that was so he ran the other way. Until he saw large windows. Pausing for a second, he shrugged and mumbled something under his breath.

Leaning into the run, he charged forward. The bomb was about to blow. Literally. And just as it did, he jumped. He twisted mid-flight so that Relm wouldn't hit the glass first. And it worked. He braced, pulling his body into a curl so that when he hit he would be smaller. That way there wasn't so much surface area to punch a hole in the glass.

It would have gone off without a hitch, had Shadow known the glass was bulletproof. But he didn't. However, the exploding bomb caused a shock wave that sent him flying far faster than anything he could have mustered on his own. So when his back did hit the glass, he punched through. But the impact was much harder than he had anticipated.

The last thing he remembered before he blacked out was that he needed to hold onto Relm. He needed to protect her. So there they were, free falling from 70 some odd stories, and his grip suddenly went limp.

Relm may of been better off on her own in this case, what was Shadow thinking, running into the direction of the ready-to-blow- bomb? "H-HEY!? What are you doing? Don't run toward it, stupid!" Yeah, there was still times she just couldn't contain that mouth of hers. Though Shadow may be used to it by now, she had insulted their friends many times, especially Strago. The poor old fool.

If she thought that was bad, while in his arms, she noticed his plan was in fact...to run out of the building, or rather, jump out the window. Relm however, was not up for this plan! Being smashed to bits or shot up to death, or possibly blown up and burnt alive. Boy, they had some great choices. The last thing she knew, was the explosion of the bomb making her ears ring and hurt, then the impact of the glass Shadow had hit first, while she remained protected in his arms...

How protected though was the question. They...were...falling! Falling from a height that upon impact, there would be nothing left of them. Frantically, she tried to cast slow, which didn't at all seem to help them, there was no way to draw up a massive bird and hope it to catch them, she couldn't move much less draw in seconds with the speed they were falling... All she could do was..scream and cling to Shadow....

"Quetzalli! " She suddenly shouted at the top of her lungs, her last resort, and really ,the only thing left to do before they both were ended. Now she had to pray like never before it worked....

And thus, in a brilliant flash of many colors, a loud screeching echoed throughout the air, as something of a massive colorful bird swooped down, catching both Shadow and Relm between it's wings, so they landed in the middle of it's massive body.

In moments, the esper landed at the ground several yards away from the ShinRa building, lowering it's body so they could safely get off. Just, Shadow was now unconscious, and Relm was only just now discovering that herself..

"...God...!! That was......" She paused, blinking down at Shadow. He wasn't moving at all.. "...Wha...Shadow? " She nudged him softly. "...Hey! T-This isn't a good time to be sleeping!" So, she was starting to worry, a lot more so then she had ever worried for anyone before. What made this man so special, to get her heart stirring? "Wake...UP! " Still nothing...

Finally, her brain caught on. Heal him. Yeah, that might help, though he still may not wake up, at least he would be healed. After all, he hit with such impact, it was amazing he didn't die just from that...

Swirls of soft lights formed around her, before they began to burst into millions of partials of healing magic that rained down onto Shadow's form as she cast Cure 3. "Y-You better wake up, c-crazy Shadow...! " No, she wasn't going to cry. She didn't do such things! Such weakness was not allowed!

Tohru Adachi

"You wanna play hero? Then all you're gonna do is wind up dead..."

User Image

"You know, kid," Adachi said to the person who was trying to stay concealed in his office. "Being president is a real pain in the a**. I was hoping there'd be more hot babes involved, maybe some drinking here and there, but it's almost all paperwork." He sighed, as he continued doing said paperwork.
"...Adachi," Yu's calm voice came out, as he took a few steps forward, so he was standing in front of the madman's desk. "What are you thinking, Adachi? You said you would abide by the world's rules. You even went back to prison without a fight after the fight with Hi-no-Kagutsuchi."
"...Pteh." Adachi leaned back in his comfortable leather chair, placing his feet on the table, his eyes on the grey-haired teenager. "Maybe you should mind your own business, kid,"
"...This is my business, Adachi." Yu said, his voice still completely calm as usual.
"What can I say? Maybe I thought I'd have a little fun."
"Adachi..."
"I don't need your judgement, kid," He said. "I said I'd follow that world's rules, but in case you didn't notice, we're not IN that world anymore! I can do whatever I want, because guess what?" He stood from the desk, taking a few steps to his large window, which overlooked the entire city of Midgar. He held his hands up, as if an emperor basking in his own glory. "This is my world!" He grinned, turning back to Yu. "I say who lives and who dies! If I want someone erased, I have the power to make it happen! If I wanted to kill you, you''d be dead. DEAD! Remember that, kid! You and your little girlfriend--I'll put your graves beside each other if you'd like!" His grin widened, waiting to see the angered reaction of the young teenager.
...But Yu's expression didn't change, his hand remained in his pocket. "This isn't' like you, Adachi. You're not one to seek out fame or leadership. During the murders, you did everything from the shadows." He said, remaining as calm as ever.
"Tch..." Adachi grunted, slowly lowering his arms, the crazed grin slowly melting into an irritated look. "That calm attitude of yours really pisses me off..." He said, before stalking back over to his chair and sitting down. "...You talk as if you know me, but you don't know sh**, kid."
"..." A tarot card slowly lowered in front of Yu, above his hand. Closing his palm around the card, it shattered, and Magatsu-Izanagi, Adachi's own Persona, appeared behind Yu. "You're wrong, Adachi--this is all the proof I need of that. This Persona represents our bond--one we forged a long time ago." After a moment, the Persona vanished, and Yu lowered his arm.
"...Tch. Damn kid..." Adachi said, looking away. "That was another time. Another life. You bonded with a facade--a fake personality I put out to fool the world. After all, the Jester is the one who acts a fool, but isn't..."
"...While the Fool is an inexperienced soul, oblivious to the world, but with infinite possibilities. It has the number zero, because it has unlimited potential..."
"...And the Jester has the number zero because he has no more potential left." The madman chuckled a bit at that. "All his options are gone. He has nothing. He is nothing..."
"...Adachi..."
"Heh," The madman stood once again. "Why the hell are you even here, kid? Don't you have better things to do?"
"...The Beast is coming," Yu said seriously, to which Adachi sighed. "You feel it too. Our best option is to work together. As the president of this company, they would follow you if-"
"Geez, kid! You just can't be a... kid, can you? Even in this new world, your little team is going to be just as severe, aren't you? Leave the Beast to the adults, eh? You go to the Gold Saucer or something. I hear it's really fun."
"Adachi, this is serious." And obviously Yu wouldn't be sitting the battle out. Out of the Investigation Team, he was easily the strongest and the best with using Personas. "Can I count on your cooperation?"
"...I don't think so, kid."
"Why not?" Yu insisted. "You helped me to save our world before--if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have been able to defeat Hi-no-Kagutsuchi! If we combine our powers again, we can at least challenge the Beast-"
"I don't think your Avalanche buddies are going to want to associate with me. Now, run along."
"...What about Nanako?" Adachi grunted. "You know she's here, don't you? If the Beast isn't stopped, we'll all be killed."
"I... don't care about Nanako." Adachi said, very obviously lying.
"That's not true! Even if you want to pretend our bond was fake, you were closer to Dojima and Nanako than anyone else--do it for them!"
"...Damn it!" Adachi shouted, grabbing a pile of paperwork and tearing it down the middle. Pausing afterwards, he looked at the paper, horrified. "...That... took me hours to do..." He set the torn paper down, leaning back in his chair and sighing heavily.
"...Well?"
"...I'll think about it if you get the hell out of my office!" The president shouted.
Yu smiled, nodding. "Thanks, Adachi. I'm glad to hear that." And with that, the grey-haired teenager turned and walked calmly out of the office, heading to exit the building.
Adachi childishly mimicked Yu's words in an irritating, barely understandable voice. "What an annoying brat. Who does he think he is..." Now the question was, did he assist with the battle against the Beast or not? ...He would have to think on this. The Beast shouldn't be around for a few weeks at least, he guessed, so he had time at least.

SHADOW

One minute he was passed out. And for that brief respite he had vivid images of his wife. Pain shot through his heart. Anguish. Desire. And then the next minute his eyes were fluttering open and he was feeling better. At least in the physical sense.

His eyes still blurry, his mind still on his wife, he saw a fuzzy face before him. The resemblance was uncanny. Without hesitation, he smiled an unseen smile and called out her name in a voice that just above a whisper. "Sarah ..." And just like that, he was passed out again.

It wasn't that Relm's spell had no effect, but he did kinda use his back to break through a chunk of bulletproof glass. That sort of thing can't be good for a body. In any case, as his eyes shut he was once again greeted with images of his wife.

However, it was short lived. Somewhere in the dark recesses of that groggy mind, something told him that he had just made a mistake. And sure enough, his eyes shot open and he was on full alert. Adrenalin was pumping. He had just called his wife's name. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem. But Relm had no idea who he really was and he had tried very hard to keep it that way. Maybe she missed his flub ...

Relm's eyes, no matter how hard she tried to stop them, were glistening with tears for those moments. He had taken a lot of damage, and for a human, that was not good. He was no half-demon or super human being like so many seemed to be in the world lately. He was a man that could easily be killed with to much damage to his body. When his eyes suddenly opened, Relm let out a soft gasp as she knelt down beside him.The worry in her eyes still there, though there was also a calming to her mind seeing him awake.

And then, he heard something whisper a familiar name she hadn't heard in many years. Sarah. Her mother's name. But why? Sure, they're may of been other's with this name, but the more she had thought about it, there were to many coincidences. One of them being, why did she seem to care so much for Shadow? Why did her heart ache so much seeing him hurt? Why was he so special to her? "...What? ..Sarah..? T-That's my mother's name...Why would you..." The young girl paused, trying desperately to peice this together. Her father had disappeared so long ago, without a word, no goodbyes, nothing. He abandoned her. That was what she wanted to think, she refused to believe he had been killed in battle.

Then there was Interceptor. She was young, but not that young to remember the dog of the village, she had played with him all the time as a child. It was no wonder it had so quickly bonded with her during Shadow and Interceptors save of her when she had been trapped in the house that caught on fire due to her and her friend playing with fire magic. Normally, it was not a friendly pup to just anyone.

There was only one thing to do now. Relm reached out her hand quickly, placing it at the top of his mask that covered most of his face, and pulled it down. His mysteriousness also didn't help her new suspicions!

Nope. She caught it. And, as he looked at her, as he saw the realization in her face, he didn't move. Even when she pulled his mask down, he let her. Why? There was a part of him that, deep down, really wanted the charade to end. However it came to pass, he would not stop her from doing what it was she was doing.

And, for all of the sleepless nights that he had thought about this very moment, about how he would tell her everything he had kept hidden from her, about how he truly did love her and that he ran away to protect the only people he ever loved, all of those things flashed through his mind at this moment. And yet, he could say nothing. He was frozen with fear. A fear that, even in doing this that he had wanted for so long, maybe it wasn't the right decision. Shadow was not the best person. He had a reputation that was well earned back on his home world. One that, truth be told, he would not want Relm to associate with him. In part, maybe that was another reason he had not revealed himself. More fear. Fear of her rejection because of the man he was.

Whatever it was that gripping his tongue, it had a hold on him like a vise grip. No matter how fast the thoughts of what he wanted to say swirled around in his head, he remained silent. Again, out of fear.

There was a moment when Relm stopped, hesitating as though she wasn't sure she should discover Shadow's secret. A new nervousness began to take over, she wanted to know. There were to many suspicions already in her mind and that was to many to continue on dealing with. While that part of her was afraid to find out, what if her suspicions were right? Would their relationship grow stronger, or would it fall completely, so much to the point of their friendship would even be destroyed should she developed a resentment toward his leaving her without a simple goodbye, no words at all.

After what seemed like an eternity of just standing there with her hand at the top of his mask, Relm finally gathered her courage, and pulled it off his face. Next was the hood, so she could really get a much better look of his features.Shadow REALLY wanted to hide his identity to everyone, as that wasn't all to his mask. The thin black ninja hood over his entire face and head was quickly slipped off as well. His sandy hair and light brown eyes now visible to Relm.

She stood there, completely silent. She may of been a lot younger when he left her, but that didn't mean she didn't remember how her own father looked. The only image she remembered of him was in her head, burnt to her memories forever. It was also in a small frame back in her current residence in Midgar, a picture she had painted of what she remembered. Yeah, there was no way she was going to forget him. And the face here in front of her...was exactly that match. "................" And suddenly, Shadow would feel a small shove to his shoulder. If he wasn't expecting such a reaction and was unprepared, he may even fall back from it, despite it being fairy weak of a shove. But, when he looked to her again he would see the narrowing eyes of his now angry daughter. "You ...! " She seemed flustered, and a little regretful suddenly for her sudden outburst. Probably not the heart-warming reuniting she or he ever dreamed about. Relm was never very good when it came to emotions, especially when angered. Sometimes she didn't know how to deal with it, and in this situation it was one of the most confusing moments of her short ten years of life. She was angry, but at the same time happy even though that part of her was hardly visible. "........I don't know what to say...." Quiet, softer words finally came along as she was now forcing herself to calm down.. "How can I be so mad.....and....happy at the same time? I-It's like you put a spell on me! A weird...confuse..ninja spell! " This was her sad attempt at a joke, she didn't do sweet, mushy emotions. All she knew was her sassy attitude, and it tended to always keep things less awkward. Maybe it was for the best, Shadow wasn't exactly the most emotional loving kind of man, ether. "...What..ever! ...Tell me..Why. Why did you leave me? Why didn't you say anything? I waited for you to come back...and you never did. " Her tone became much softer now, her voice quiet. "After so many months, and years..I thought you died. I didn't know what else to think. How could you leave me like that? " If anything, she thought she deserved answers. Growing up without both parents, what did he think that would do for her future?
