In my schools in Florida, it was "Here, you can have this this this or this every day of the week" and it was.. meh food
When I moved to NY, they were a little different. "This" changes every day. But if you don't want "This" they had "That" every day also, or you could get a Sandwich, with your choice of meat/cheese/accessories. You could watch them make it, and pick what you want on it. Plus, Kaiser roll ftw Also everyday you could chose pizza or hamburgers. Those were the only everyday thing (aside from the pre-wrapped PB&J that no one went near)
If you were a senior, you could actually spend 5 dollars, and get a teacher's lunch. Which was a sandwich, but with better meat. More high quality meat, or like.. .soup... or... the ability to cut in a very long line, I dunno.. something like that

 Lucky shits.
The place I spent my grade 9 year specialized in fries. They were yummy and cheap (especially with cheese and gravy) but the fry line was always huuuuuuuuge, it's like people were camping out before lunch even started. You couldn't even GET fries unless you booked to the caf as soon as class got out, cause they were all gone 10 minutes into lunch. xd
They had a salad bar too, but way overpriced. It was like five bucks for a decent salad, since they charged by weight. D;

Back in high school other classmates kept criticising the food, saying it had roaches in it or some other crap.
But it was actually quite good. But I wasn't too sure about eating some chicken I had one day; the skin almost looked like it was zombie flesh burnt to a golden crisp.
The best part about the lunch was that it was free. it then cost like 2.50 at one point, then went back to free. The breakfast was free no matter what.
Dang... now I'm remembering the day one of the snack machines broke and a assload of quarters spilled out. It was madness!

Dessy's school lunch is crazy awesome. But she goes to a private university, so it's all Rich Kids. Still not too rich to hide the Steak under the lettuce though. Seen it happen. Would do it if I ate steak. XD

Which... part?
The part about the steak? Um... They hide a piece of steak under what appears to be only a salad, so they have to pay for only a salad?
I... don't understand.

The student committee stocked all the vending machines, and on April Fool's day they would put all the cans in the wrong lines so you never got what you ordered, and the snack machine would be full of health food. lol
