Rhaim raised an eyebrow in curiousity while his eyes were still closed as the smaller girl read off the things that she still needed to accomplish. Though dodging an attack was easy enough in theory, he knew that there was no way that she would ever dodge him unless he tripped over himself in mid stride. The flipping thing sounded rather awkward to the young Nara though he did think that he could put together something to help Tenma with that aspect. After taking a deep breath he rolled over backwards to his feet and stood up. He cracked his neck and brushed himself off before walking over to a large nearby log. He then motioned with his left hand for Tenma to join him as he pulled out all six of his shuriken. "You have to dive over this log without touching it. As you can see it's too high for you to hurdle, so you'll have to dive or get really inventive. Meanwhile I'll finish up my work on a jutsu for today. Any questions before I go?"

Rhaim stuck all of his shuriken into the log so that if Tenma tried to use her hands or any body part to touch the log she would cut herself. This wasn't meant so much as a punishment for failure as it was a detterent for her to cheat on the exercise.

This was probably one reason Tenma was becoming so attached to the Nara. He always had an idea and, no matter how much it would potentially hurt, she would go along with it. She watched him walk away and turned to her own task. Though, eventually, she would have to rely on him less.

Biting her lip the girl looked at the log and it's new appendages. This would probably be a bit more difficult than she expected. Taking in a deep breath she started into a quick run and made for a head-first dive over the log.

The girl was able to catch herself on her hands and roll forward with her landing. After taking a moment to look herself over she was please to see not a scratch on her, much less any cut the kunai would have created. Standing on her feet she brushed off the dust and decided to set a new goal: she would continuously get closer to the log and, eventually, she would have completed this five times.

With one try down and four more to go the child took two steps forward and went through the same motions as she had for her last attempt. This would leave her with only two possible changes: a quicker increase in speed or a higher jump.

"No I’m completely fine Conan," Minoru responded before stretching. "As fun as this was, you would have beaten me if it wasn't for those weights." Minoru bowed and walked off, now hoping to increase his strength even more. He had no idea what to expect or what to do, but anything that didn't kill or maim you made you stronger. Lacking any sort of direction, Minoru decided to go back and try what he was doing earlier. When he had tried to sprint before he had failed utterly, but with his narrow victory over a hindered Conan, he felt slightly more confident in his ability to increase his abilities. The human body after all, was a blank slate and infinitely malleable. It was capable of amazing feats of strength and agility, provided the person could draw it out when he or she needed it. That was the goal of all the training they were doing; ninjas after all were masters at fighting past their physical limits. As Minoru walked back to the two trees that he had been trying to run between before, he tried his best to focus all of his thoughts on the task ahead. Above all he attributed his lack of success on his lack of mental discipline. Taking a deep breath, Minoru took off running, hoping he wouldn't fail as bad as last time.

15+0 = 15 PASS

Minoru's first go at running like he had before ending in a success that surpassed even his best expectations. He tried as hard as he could to stay focused before he lost his concentration and screwed up again. His mind seemed to be a fickle thing at best, and it tending to wander at the worst possible moments. None the less he now had something concrete to focus on, and this made the task in front of him much easier. As he was running he tried as best he could to avoid stopping. In addition he tried to control his breathing by continuously inhaling and exhaling at precise intervals. The need for this was obvious to him; if he could exhale before being hit in the stomach, Minoru couldn't have the air knocked out of him and would then be able to counter attack effectively. Granted it wasn't a good substitute for dodging, but it did give him something to start with until he was able to find another way.

NAT 1: FAIL

It appeared that Minoru's idea of controlled breathing would only work if he kept his mouth shut. Instead of being able to finish the next lap, a bug flew into his mouth and caused him to start choking slightly. He managed to spit the bug out, but he had failed trying to complete the lap. Defeated, he walked back and got ready to try again. This time he would breathe only through his nose, and with any luck it wouldn't be a complete disaster. One of the main problems of training in the forest was how the environment interfered with everything. Granted it was theoretically better to work outside because if you ever got into real combat you probably wouldn't be fighting on flat ground in perfect weather. On the other hand it was possible that he would be at a disadvantage in such a situation because he would be constantly over thinking everything. Either way, such ideas were only taking away from his current predicament, a predicament which required his full concentration.

3+0 = 3 FAIL

Yet again Minoru failed to complete his second lap. Although he tried to push himself farther, he only managed to trip and fall on his face. As he pushed himself up and took the few leaves out of his hair, he walked back to where he started. It was a shameful walk for Minoru, who considered such failures a horrible stain on not only his honor, but his personal worth. In truth he was a proud person, even if he tried not to show it. He didn't want to be arrogant, just practical. At the same time it was hard to get anyone to pay attention to you if you were always meek. Moderation was the key to everything in life it seemed. Extremes just left you with abilities that would often do more harm than good if you couldn't use said extremes to your advantage. It was tempting in his mind to just forgo the ninja warrior lifestyle completely and become a ninja who focused on theory. Sadly Minoru was too chaotic to stick to any one order or focus for two long. If he was having problems staying on track with his current assignment, it was doubtful that he could become a scholar of any kind.

NAT 1: FAIL

It appeared that he had failed again to complete his second lap. Minoru's lack of formal training was becoming apparent as every step he took caused more pain than progress. Even if he was sweating and in pain, he knew he couldn't keep avoiding this challenge. If he wasn't in good enough shape to run, then how could he expect to be of any use to anyone in the outside world? In Minoru's mind this wasn't just a challenge that tested his will; it was a challenge that tested his physical limits. If he couldn't complete this challenge, he couldn't honestly expect to complete any further exercises that he faced. This by comparison was an easy assignment, compared to some of the things he had heard from the more experienced ninjas. With any luck, he would rise to become just as respected as them.

Rhaim nodded approvingly as he stayed around to watch the smaller girl clear the log the first time. He wasn't sure if the log he had chosen was too high for her so he wanted to ensure that she didn't face plant directly the thing. Satisfied that once again Tenma had proved that she was likely a more capable ninja than he was, the young Nara walked a little ways away to continue his training on the Touei. He reached down to his kunai holster with his left hand and retrieved one of the weapons without looking down. He wanted to practice the muscle memory of grabbing the device perfectly so that combat would go smoother. Once out he brought it up to his chest level and looked up to see where the sun and a bird were. The sun he found much faster than the bird, and even when he had found one he needed to mave to make sure he had a clear shot. He focused his chakra through the blade and tried to get the light to focus and bend of his weapon.

As the girl tucked into her roll she felt a stinging her left forearm. Unfortunately she had gotten too close to a kunai and it had gotten her pretty well. When she was back on her feet she looked it over and decided she was fine to continue on. In an attempt to make herself more mobile the girl pulled off her knee-length sweatshirt. Now she was in her oversized pants and a tee that actually fit.

It was time for another attempt since she only had one of the five successes she was looking for. Quickly stepping off the appropriate distance from the log Tenma felt ready for another try. As she began she felt something strange. She was considerably lighter that she had started this task because of her sweatshirt, or lack there of.

Rhaim was unable to properly manipulate his chakra for the Touei to work correctly and so absolutely nothing had happened except for him seeing Tenma scrape herself on the blade in the log. The result of this however was her taking off her sweater, which he didn't understand why she wore anyway. Through everything they had done it had seemed to be more of a hassle then anything else and it wasn't even that cold outside.

The young Nara boy was unable to concentrate on his own training knowing that the smaller girl wasn't doing the best possible course for the training that he had given her. So he placed his kunai back in the holster and walked with his hands in his pockets back to where Tenma was. He stood awkwardly as he thought that he probably should have given this advise before she started instead of waiting until after she got hurt. "Um, hey. When you jump throw your arms up as hard as you can. And uh, don't let your legs whip up so much."

Without waiting for a response, Rhaim nervously turned and walked back to the bird that he was using as a training partner. Though the bird did not know. He beat himself up a little inside as he pulled his kunai back out, for being uneasy with talking to someone that he had just been sparring and talking with already. He shook the thoughts from his mind and began to attempt the jutsu once more.

Again she landed and again she failed, though the scrape was barely noticable. When Rhiam walked over she was all ears, typically whatever he said helped her. Tenma summed up he said her mind by telling herself to get all the momentum she could and to keep control of her body. That should be simple enough, however she had proven herself wrong on many occassions in that reguard.

Stepping off her jump she felt like she was ready. After running through the process in her mind she ran forward to make her next attempt.

Rhaim was rather startled by the fact that he did the technique correctly since he wasn't paying attention to his training as much as he was paying attention to his nervousness around someone he somewhat already knew. He understood and accepted that he was socially awkward, however he didn't realise that it had gotten that bad. At any rate he was still glad that he had forced the bird to fall off of its perch since that meant that he was making good progress on his jutsu training. It appeared to be going much better for him than the exploding tag one had gone. The young Nara boy attempted to clear his head of any distracting thoughts by shaking his head breifly and taking a few deep breathes. Once calmed again he brought the kunai back up and began focusing his chakra through the blade. He tried to concentrate on how to bend the light at the already stunned bird on the ground. He wasn't picking on the same bird again because he didn't like it, he just didn't feel like hunting for another one.

Rhaim was quite astonished as he witnessed the already dazed bird get blinded yet again and topple over onto its side. Now it was laying on its side flapping one wing and spinning in circles with no clear understanding of what it was doing at all. Obviously the thing would be of no more use to the boy in its current state, therefore he'd have to find a new one to continue his training of the Touei. He placed the kunai in his holster and his hands in his pockets as he walked a little ways further from Tenma to find a new bird. Once he had aquired his new target the young Nara boy took a deep breath and pulled out his kunai. He stretched the fingers of his right hand before transfering the blade from his left hand to his right. He then brought the weapon up and began the somewhat familiar act of focusing his chakra along the edge and trying to bend it at the bird on the tree branch.
