MegamanPsy [Dill] MegamanPsy So, I just read Red Son. ....Really? REALLY? What's wrong with Red Son? It's been a few years since I read it, but I remember I liked it. dat ending. Oh, right. That. in it's defense, there are very few endings to any sort of medium that I actually like.

I'm getting annoyed by impersonal rejection emails. If you're gonna reject me, I'm afraid that "other candidates were more suitable" isn't going to ******** cut it. And at least have the damn courtesy to reply to my email asking how exactly these candidates were more suitable, so I know what to improve for future applications.

Skizzors I have no idea how to email the head of a department for permission to be in a class. gonk hi can learn plz? I'd be inclined to go with a simple, straightforward request to be allowed into the class, followed by subtle death threats.

Dr. Fomite Skizzors I have no idea how to email the head of a department for permission to be in a class. gonk hi can learn plz? I'd be inclined to go with a simple, straightforward request to be allowed into the class, followed by subtle death threats. Too subtle, shows lack of initiative, and comes off as borderline begging. Lacks a show of confidence, as well. A simple copy of your application to the class and pictures of his family going about their daily life should do.

Skizzors I have no idea how to email the head of a department for permission to be in a class. gonk hi can learn plz? Introduce yourself, including your class year and major. Explain why you're interested in the class, and it's also usually a good idea to explain qualifications. Like if you're going for a level 300 literature course tell them what studies you've done before, or if you're familiar with the material.
Are you asking permission because it's full, because you don't have the requirement, or because it's a permission-only course?
Ex. "Professor [...], I am very interested in your Archaeology 226: Prehistory of Religion course next fall, but do not have the prerequisite of a lower-level archaeology or anthropology course.
I transferred from a college in the United States where I was working on declaring a religion minor. I have taken four religion courses (two of which had a large focus in religious history, and an art history course focused on ancient peoples and civilizations. I was wondering if any of this could qualify as a prerequisite?
Thank you for your time, [name]"
"Professor [...], I am a fourth year transfer student who is new to SFU, and I've noticed that several classes available are special topics and are not offered every semester. I have been talking to a friend about your Asia-Canada 303 course - I am new to both Canada and British Columbia, and am highly interested in Japanese popular culture, especially with how apparent Asian culture is in this area. New York is much different from Vancouver, and this course sounds like an interesting learning experience.
I saw that it has been filled, but was wondering if you are willing to or able to let more students in?
Regardless, thank you for your time, [...]

As long as we're on the writing to professors topic, how would you email a professor from a few years ago asking for a letter of recommendation to a grad program?
Also, totally away from that topic, does anyone play Rock Band or Guitar Hero on live and want to play with me sometime? whee
