Amy wasn't quite sure what to do now. Once more, a bout of loneliness struck her, and there was the brief contemplation of going off to talk to Eliza again, but she decided against it. That woman was nice, but she left Amy very confused in the end. Besides, Amy was sure that she really wanted to talk to other coordinators and share her anxiousness.
"It's really nice out today," the girl commented as she walked with her Pokemon along the streets of Cerulean. Her eyes flickered about, trying to find anyone who struck her as interesting. There was likely to be at least one flashy coordinator among the group, right?
"Chiko?" Flora asked, gently nudging Amy's leg. The Leaf Pokemon glanced to a bench, and Amy smiled in response.
"You're right," Amy said, leading her team to occupy a good majority of the empty bench. "We can people watch! And enjoy this nice weather... I'm sure you're loving it, Flora."
"Chiko!" Flora agreed, tilting her face to the bright sunshine.
"Woopah?" Marshall liked the weather and all, but he recalled swimming being mentioned. "Woop, woop, woopah!" He cast his meaningful look upon the unsuspecting Amy.
"I promise," Amy said, smiling to her energetic Wooper, "that we'll go swimming tomorrow, bright and early. I just don't wanna lose track of time today, you know...?" There was a brief silence, and finally, Marshall nodded. "Thanks for being so understanding, Marshall!"
The Pokemon merely grinned and nodded in response, placing all his trust in his trainer. It was no problem at all! Why worry?
Amy looked to her PokeNav, smiling a little. I wish Scarlet or Cyan or Mom had one of these... I wish I had someone to call now... The smile faltered, if only for a moment, before she snapped the device shut, looking back to the people out shopping.
"Let's enjoy ourselves before the contest, okay?"

"I think it's amazing that they are all evolving! So far, only Star has evolved, and she won't be evolving again for awhile. I'm not sure when Miles will evolve, and Devlin won't evolve unless I find this weird Sinnoh stone...I think you're lucky! Your team must be pretty strong by now, I mean, a Pidgeot, an Ampharos, an Ivysaur? And the rest of your team. No wonder you beat Chuck! Must've taken a long time huh?" Sam heard her name called, and looked to the Nurse. She was holding Devlin's Pokeball. "Oh sweet! Devlin is all healed up!" Sam sped over to the desk, and took the Pokeball, thanking the nurse over her shoulder. A sudden wave of excitement overtook her. Sam recognized the beginnings of one of her bouts of extreme hyperactivity, when she began to speak extremely fast and in a very high-pitched voice about anything and everything, but she ignored it. She was used to strange mood swings by now, she actually started naming this one. This was her "I'm on Speed!" mood. She ran back to Miharu, grinning and bouncing on the spot.
"Come on! Let's go let's go let's go let's go!" She wanted to sprint to the gym, but she didn't want to leave Miharu and Sparkle behind. So instead, she got behind both of them, and started to push them out the door, giggling very softly, but uncontrollably. 'I wonder if Miharu thinks I'm crazy?' she thought to herself, before mentally shrugging it off. 'Ah, who cares, I am pretty much crazy. Then again, only not crazy people think they are crazy. So am I really crazy?'

As the larger rocks from his Stealth Rock started to get smashed Roark just smiled as he watched his Geodude slowly get into position. It really wasn't that smart to be smashing all of his Stealth Rocks, sure his Geodude wouldn't be able to hide for very much longer but it would also hurt a lot more when she sent her next pokemon out, after all big rocks hurt but small jagged ones had a longer lasting pain. Roark watched as the smashed rocks rose up from the ground and started floating around some more still under the effect of Stealth Rock. Finally though his Geodude was in position. "Geodude use your Tackle." Roark grinned as he watched his pokemon drop.
While the strange mass of vines started smashing things Geodude had been slowly and inconspicuously making his way towards the writhing mass of vines. Finally he was right above the dumb looking pokemon, not that Geodude's didn't look to good either. He hovered there looking down at the other pokemon waiting for his trainer to issue one of his attacks. He couldn't say he really liked guerilla tactics however he also couldn't really say he liked getting hit once and then knocked out. Oh well he had set things up for Cranidos and Onix, all he could hope to do now was to get in as much damage as he could. When he heard Roarks order Geodude was all to happy to get into the action and flung himself down towards the Tangela letting his force and gravity aid his attack.

Mia wasn't blind, she'd been looking out for the Geodude for a while now as Jello continued to smash and destroy the rocks, turning them into smaller and smaller pieces. They were sharper, but now had little weight to be put into their attacks. Either way, she was sure that Rhyme could handle whatever damage would be thrown her way, assuming she was even needed in battle. The trainer, however did have a hard time spotting the rock shaped Pokemon until it started getting closer to her Tangela. Hovering above the Pokemon probably wasn't the best of hiding spots, though Jello was rather preoccupied with her breaking of rocks.
By the time Roark had issued his attack Jello had effectively smashed a few of the smaller rocks to bits and pieces, leaving still a good few of decent sizes. Mia watched and waited as he commanded a Tackle. Mia was glad he'd gone for an attack such as that instead of something long distance.
"Jello, take the hit and counter with a Mega Drain!" Mia instructed. The Tangela took the hit, the rock thing was pretty heavy! But she was determined. A mass of vines shot upwards, weaving every which way to wrap around the Geodude, to suck away all it's health and stamina while healing herself. Yup, it was a good deal.

Katie knew right away that Body Slam wasn't a move normally known by members of the Turtwig family, so it must have been a special move passed on from its parents, like how Kord knew how to use Cross Chop and Genki knew how to use Thunder Punch. Even still, that didn't mean that she wanted Noa to be hit by an attack like that, so she had to think fast. "Noa, quick! Aim a Whirlwind at the ground!" she shouted. She'd learned from her battle with Roark a few days ago that having a type advantage didn't guarantee that you would win.
The cocoa-brown Staravia gave a loud chirp and began to flap her wings at a rapid pace, creating a fierce gust of wind that not only stopped her momentum but changed it as well, pushing her up and into the Turtwig as he attempted to slam his weight down onto her. The effect helped to counter some of the power of Turtwig's Body Slam as the heavier Staravia was lifted by her Whirlwind and slammed back into the grass-type, serving as a makeshift body slam attack of her own. Though that didn't mean it still didn't hurt, and Noa grunted through the pain, fiercely determined not to let this little twiggy Pokemon get the better of her.

Oh boy Mega Drain. Roark sighed as he watched his Geodude get hit with and hoped his pokemon would forgive him after this. Reaching for his pokeball Roark recalled his pokemon and watched as the score board above them marked that he was one pokemon off. Sighing Roark hoped that Onix did not get mad at him either, though the gentle giant would probably be more understanding. "Onix your up!" Roark released his large rock snake.
As gentle as the Onix was it also understood that acting frightening was important in a gym battle and it let out a loud roar upon appearing. Looking down at his opponent Onix knew that this wasn't going to be a lot of fun. Still he was a gym leaders pokemon and he would do his best to make sure that his trainer kept the respect that he deserved.
"Onix its time to make some tunnels. Use your Dig!" Roark frowned as he watched his pokemon appear on the field. He didn't really want to see his friend get hurt in a pointless battle but he had to uphold his duty as a gym leader. The rock gym leader watched as Onix dove into the ground like an Olympic swimmer dove into a pool. Only unlike a lot of times he left a hole in the ground instead of closing it up. Under the ground Onix was going to be busy.
~~~~~~~~
Running ahead to the pokemon center with Black*Star hot on her heels, Robin could barely contain her excitement. She was going to go get a Kings Rock for Slowpoke! Who cares if she had no idea what a Kings Rock even looked like? Giggling as she stepped through the Pokecenters doors Robin and Black*Star headed right towards the large bathroom that contained the lockers.
Keying hers open Robin grabbed her clothes, only her bikini top, daisy dukes, suspenders and boots though. She really didn't feel like putting the stockings on. Not caring that there were a few people milling around in the room she started changing right there.
Of course Black*Star loved every moment as his trainer changed right in front of him. She wasn't exactly pretty in a conventional sense it was really her confidence in herself that made her attractive. Still who cares? His trainer was taking off her top in front of him! A big grin was on his face as he watched her change from her training outfit to her much better, in his opinion, regular clothing. Though there was something about her in that training outfit, maybe it was the fact that it meant his trainer was hard at work training? Still both of them didn't really care about the stares that Robin's actions had earned her.
Jett quickly made his way across Rustboro, having gotten almost uncomfortably familiar with the location of the PokeCenter. Then again, it was one of the key points of a place a trainer should know, and he had been essentially living there for the past few days...
"Just the same two," Jett said, offering the kind nurse a smile as she took the two Pokeballs from him. "Uh, can I get a level update, please?" There was a brief pause while the Pokeballs were popped into the machine, and he learned of the levels of his companions. "That close... thank you!"
He double-checked the moves they would learn next, and he had indeed been right: both of them would learn something new at level 17. River's move wasn't as... useful as the others she had learned, but it was a move nonetheless. Aerosmith's, on the other hand, had mass potential for slowing down that Geodude and possibly even freezing it up.
He retrieved his Pokemon after closing the windows on the computer, thanked Nurse Joy once more, and left, only to be welcomed by the bright sunlight. It was probably late in the afternoon, the fact leaving the trainer without any idea of what to do. He was sure they'd all like a nice break from training, and he did not honestly feel like a battle.
"...Might as well come on out and enjoy the sunshine," Jett murmured, unceremoniously releasing the two Pokeballs. River and Aerosmith merely stood by Jett, just as unsure of what to do as him. "...Wanna just take a walk?"
"Fly," Aerosmith nodded curtly before he began to drift forward, River and Jett quick to follow.
River was somewhat serene today, an absent smile ever-present on her face. Finally, she nudged Jett's leg, then pointed to the train station in the distance, as if to say 'Where are we off to next?'
"Oh, I have it all planned out," Jett smiled, patting his Psychic on the head. "We're gonna take the train to Slateport, to check it out and stuff. Then, we'll take the ferry to Dewford and take on the second gym leader... whose type is Fighting, so at least we hopefully won't have as hard of a time..." ...then they'd take the ferry back to Slateport and go and go and go... Jett sighed at the thought of costs, but if they beat Roxanne, wouldn't they get a pretty penny? Or a lot of them?
Venerax flipped closed the pokegear. Calculus will be here shortly. He smiled to himself. Then he turned to Karrigan. “You didn’t mark me as someone who would have an Onix in her team.”
Booky bounced this way and that way. Dodging the chasing shinx’s attempts to tag him back. He quickly realized the shinx was a bit faster than himself though as when he went low the shinx was nearly on top of him before he could fly up again.
Calistra buzzed around in the air enjoying the fresh sea breeze as it hovered about her trainer and his friend. The bee pokèmon would have been content to remain above it all, but then it spotted the sulking sneasel. A mischevious glint reflected in her eyes. There was someone she could have fun with.
Crenu listened to Riza's words, it was nothing he hadn't heard before. All his life it was the same, let me worry about you, let me care, let me in. Crenu had learned to tune it out, why would anyone care about him? Why would anyone take time from their own lives to bother thinking about another persons problems? Everyone had their own problems, and even if they didn't why would they show interest in him? Why show interest in a grumpy mean guy who never showed any concern for anyone else? It simply didn't make sense. But listening to her words and the look on her face, it didn't sound like the same old speech. Crenu thought back to the day they met, the event that lead to his arm being bitten. Why had he done it? Why did he jump in front of that Ekans and take the attack with his own body? Well it was obvious, if he hadn't Riza would be the one with a savage bite mark. But wait, what did he care if he got bitten? Did he care? As Crenu pondered this over and over the answer always came out a loud and clear 'Yes.' he didn't know why he did it, but he did. He cared enough about her to not let her get hurt, which was against everything he knew. He set aside his own concerns, his own well being, his own future for one moment, for one single short moment. Just long enough to get in the way of that attack. And if he could do that for just one second for her, maybe she could do it for him. He watched her carefully, almost cautiously as he gestured between them, what were they? They had never officially given themselves a title. Never discussed what they were to each other. They were simply traveling together and enjoying each others company, it was a wonderfully vague relationship until Crenu kissed her to make her focus. But was that the real reason? Did he honestly believe he hadn't wanted to do that ever since they went fishing together? Or even before? Could he deny that he had not wanted her soft, sweet, warm...lips? Crenu suddenly found his blood racing incredibly fast, his heart pounding in his chest as if it wanted out. Snapping out of his inner thoughts he say why. Riza's face was so dangerously close to his now...so very close. He could feel her gentle breath, and his lips were beginning to yearn for hers. Then suddenly as if she read his mind Riza got on her toes and kissed him, and this time it was a real kiss. Crenu's mind went completely blank for the first time since he was maybe three or four, he couldn't think nor did he even try. He simply reacted, awkwardly at first, but soon got the right idea. He placed one of his around her waist and the other somewhere on her back as he lowered his head again so she didn't have to be on her tippy toes. A couple. That what they were. He was still unsure of sharing his burdens, but she was doing a fine job of convincing him. He stopped thinking about that almost as quickly as it came up in his mind, the only thing he focused on now was their kiss.
Geez, Roark sure was grumpy. Mia mentally shook her head, why this Gym Leader didn't battle with more respect or confidence was beyond her. It was like he was resigned to give up since the beginning the of the match, even making it seem like he disliked the fact that Mia had trainer her Pokemon so hard and so well. It was so different from what she had expected of her fight Gym match. But, ah, whatever, she still needed that badge.
Mia smiled as he recalled his Geodude. One down and two to go! "Good job Jello!" the trainer called out to her now-re-freshened Tangela.
Mia nodded as Onix was to battle. She was expecting this Pokemon to be next. Roark's large Pokemon let loose what was supposed to be a menacing roar and glare, though for all Mia cared it could have been a kitten. You know what was scary? Crasher Wake's Gyrados. Now his roar and glares were truly fearsome.
Biting her lip as Roark called out Dig Mia couldn't help but feel a little frustrated. They would have to wait some more. Tangelo didn't have an projectile attacks and all her long distance attacks still connected with her body. It was fairly troublesome, especially when it came to a running and hiding strategy. Mia nodded, again, mentally admitting that it was a clever tactic, using Dig that is.
"Well, I guess we're going to do some more waiting," Mia told Jello, "Let's use another Growth."
Jello nodded. She too was tired of waiting and she wished that Rhyme would give a go already. The Floatzel could travel through those tunnels with that Aqua Jet of hers after all. Tangelo sighed before glowing green once more. She felt confident that she could take out this Onix in one hit now, two at the most. Now where will the rock snake pop out?
----------==========----------
Gardenia let loose a low whistle. That was a pretty brilliant move! "Can't say I was expecting that, Katie!" the Grass Leader laughed as the Staravia rose into the skies before plummeting back down. It was a rather clever technique to offset the damage of a Body Slam. Gardenia smiled, thoroughly enjoying this battle though she could feel the challenger egging ahead of her slightly. But not so fast! Katie did have to get past her ace after all!
Turtwig grunted as the bid threw it's own weight onto him. That had hurt! "Okay Turtwig, use your Razor Leaf!" Gardenia instructed, "Send them upwards!"
The Grass starter called out his own name in confirmation before growling/roaring as he summoned dozens of leaves from the trees around them. They all rushed inwards towards Turtwig himself before taking a ninety degree turn and laughing themselves upwards, aiming for Noa who was conviently above the Turtwig.
Crush and Tailor waved goodbye to Jett as he nervously ran off at the prospect of taking on the gym leader at current. But not before Crush got his number, and wished him luck. Then the Sinnoh Surfer turned to his new little brah. “What do ya see, Little Brah. Time to see how I stand against the top student of Rustboro City?”
“Yeah!” Tailor grinned.
“Lead on, Little Brah,” Crush followed the school boy to the gym.
It wasn’t a long walk at all from the school to the gym. The Rustboro Gym was unlike any other building in the city. Great slabs of unworked stoned formed the exterior of the gym, making it seem as though the building had burst from the depths of the earth. The surfer smiled to himself. Rock types, I may actually stand a chance.
“Well, no point in just gawkin’ at it,” Crush chuckled, and stepped through the doors as they slid open before him.
The inside of the gym had the feel of a looming cavern, but had solidly worked walls. Tailor was eager to follow the Sinnoh Surfer and see how he fared in the gym.
“You here to challenge the gym,” A deep grinding voice said from off to the side of them. A man as big as a mountain stepped from around the corner. His hair was short cropped, he wore clothing as if he was about to go on a hike, and he sported a thick bushy beard.
Crush stopped. “Yeah, brah, I am.” The surfer took a relaxed stance brushing the hair his bangs from his eyes.
The hiker snorted derisively. “Only serious trainers are worthy of challenging Roxanne.”
“I’m as serious as they come, brah,” There was an edge beneath the languid speech and relaxed stance. “Care to see find out?”
“Yer darn, right, punk!” The hiker growled as he drew out a pokeball.
“Alright, brah,” The Sinnoh Surfer smiled as he withdrew one of his own. “If you insist.”
Mahnaz watched as Maipe ran forward and played in the grass. She knew they had a long way to go till the first gym, but...maybe there was something else they could do along the way. She's heard of things called Contests, but Maipe was still too young, but since the first one was in Cerulean, and that was the best place to start, maybe because it wasn't nearly as far as Pewter. Or, go to the Johto region and start there. The possibilities were endless now, especially since she had nowhere to go, but time to get there. "Maipe, we're going to Vermillion and making a plan there." She got on her Mach Bike and looked in the direction of their next city.
The mountain man threw his pokéball and bellowed. “C’mon out Onix!”
The gym echoed with the roar of the massive rock snake as it filled the hall. The cavernous feel of the gym was gone now as the enormous rock Pokémon filled it. The gym felt almost too small in comparison.
Tailor shrunk back from the onix’s sheer presence. The Sinnoh Surfer stood moved, while the mountain laughed. “Bit off more than you can chew, eh boy!”
“No way, bra,” Crush said calmly as he hefted his own pokéball and threw it into the air. “C’mon out to play, Ardah!”
The disc Pokémon appeared in a flash. The bronzor was dwarfed compared to the rock snake. A small one foot disc of solid steel against nearly 30 feet of stone. Ardah had the same calm uncaring look on its flat face as its trainer.
“HAHAHAHA! Tryin’ to bribe me, Bucko?” The mountain man guffawed at the sight of the strange Pokémon. “Well, there’s nothing to save you from the walloping I’m going to give you!”
“ONIX! FLATTEN THAT DISC TO OBLIVION WITH A TACKLE ATTACK!”
The ground shuddered as the onix shot forward with a deep bellow. Its movement sound like a great rock slide had come loose and was barrelling down upon the trainers and Pokémon before it. The clap of thunder rung out as the rock snake’s head slammed the little bronze Pokémon into the floor with all its weight behind it. Cracks formed around the impact.
Imprison. Crush thought to Ardah.
The rock snake raised its head. An imprint of Ardah was etched into its head. It bellowed with triumph. Ardah floated back into the air.
“Stunned by the power of my Onix?” The hiker laughed. “Well, no mercy. ONIX HIT IT AGAIN!”
“Crush! Do something!” Tailor tugged frantically on the surfer’s shirt.’
Crush smiled and gave Tailor a wink. “Don’t worry, little brah, I already have.”
The onix raised its head on high. Right up to the ceiling, and moved to bring it down. Red energy coursed along its stoney hide freezing the great snake in mid-attack. The Pokémon bellowed in pain and frustration, as it tried with all its might to do its trainer’s bidding.
“Onix! What is wrong?!” The mountain man called out worried now.
“I think it knows you’re going to lose, brah,” The surfer said in his ever so languid tone. Ardah, confusion.
“We will not, boy! TACKLE, ONIX!” The hikered bellowed in defiance.
The red energy coursed again along the length of the rock snake, but the bronzor wasn’t standing idle this time. Years of companionship had formed a bond between Ardah and its trainer, it heard the command, and sent the wave of psychic energy out flooding out towards the onix. The onix’s bellow of frustration turned to one of surprise and pain as it was launched back from the psychic attack. It bounced along the hall as though it were stuck in an immense tumbler. Chunks of stone fell from the now damaged walls from the violent impacts.
For a quick moment Riza was sure she could still see the wheels in Shiro's head turning as he tried to process everything she'd said. She could almost hear everything grind to a screeching halt when he reacted to her kiss, and she felt her heart skip several beats when he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer to him, and in reply her own slender arms moved to hold him, as though refusing to let him go. She didn't know for sure how long they remained like that, though she did know she was sorry to have to break off the kiss and pull back, as the need for air was becoming an issue. Even then she was reluctant to let go, but she looked up at him and gave a small, almost embarrassed smile. "Well, that was nice," she said, though her voice was barely there due to her erratic breathing. "I suppose we should get that dinner now." * * * * * 'Razor Leaf, now that's something we can handle,' Katie thought, watching as the grass-type summoned a storm of leaves and sent them skyward. 'It's also still paralyzed so its reaction times are slower, which is something we still have in our favor.' "Dive down and hit him hard with a Wing Attack!" she called.
Noa stared down the oncoming Razor Leaf with a stern gaze, already bringing her wings in close to her body as she dove down. The razor sharp leaves left dozens of tiny, stinging cuts all over her body but it was nothing she couldn't handle and she let out a fierce cry as she neared her target, spreading her now glowing wings wide as she came in for the strike.
