Fyrin, seeing the dragon coming up to meet him, did a clever little thing. As soon as the dragon was in range, he slammed the nearest available part with his hands - open-palmed; from there he threw himself away, planting his feet on the far wall, then kicked off and rolled to the floor. This wasn't working; the thing didn't seem to be vulnerable to -

"AAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarggggghhh!" Helmsborough said.

"Huh," Fyrin said. Phase knife, phase knife, phase bullets, Athena, Paul. "PAUL!" he roared.

"What?!" Paul roared in return.

"Follow the flare! Shoot there! Third eye!" he veritably screamed, then lit a fireball, tossed it to between where he judged Paul and the dragon must be, then waited for the gunfire. And oh, did it come.

Paul, outside, snapped to Athena, "Three-round bursts!" He felt the fire select switch to "computer-controlled" and when he squeezed the trigger, firing at the fire Fyrin was creating, the gun popped off shots three at a time. He fire about five bursts for a total of fifteen rounds, then paused very briefly to see if it had made a difference before he used more.

Siber dodged past the dragon's mayhem to get out the door, limping slightly on his injured leg, and join Joe and Paul outside. He felt slightly inclined to help combat said dragon, except that it hadn't done anything to him yet. "Thanks, Joe. Sorry for my mood earlier, but I thought he was going to rip me a new one for even considering taking that away from him. May I have it back, now? I have a plan to kill him that involves the contents of that box." His hand felt warm. He looked down at it, knelt briefly, and wiped the blood off as well as he could on the grass. Deflambeaux stopped her chattering and instead focused on the box, lifting the lid telekinetically and tossing out the elements that would have been used to insult the ashes. There was no reason to waste energy on keeping her around when Siber's hand was still bleeding. He bowed to her, and she vanished.

Joe bent and picked up the box. Before putting it in Siber's hands, he slid one of his own hands across the bleeding palm. The wound closed up with nary a scar.
"Here you are," Joe said cheerily, putting it lightly into Siber's care.

"Thanks!" Siber grinned, taking the box with his cleaned hand. He then wrapped Centauri about himself and asked quietly, Do you disapprove of this? I won't make you do something you consider sacrilegious. Well, within the scope of me being able to 'make' you do things in the first place.
Hmm.
He thought for a second or two. From a logical standpoint, that really is just a pile of carbon. I don't like it in its whole, necessarily, but it's the best choice at the moment.
Thank you. Tell me how to make it up to you later.

"Helmsborough!" Siber boomed through the suit of armor, "come get me! Come get her!" He leapt into the air and hung there, about four feet above the ground.
"You guys," he said down to the others, "trust me. The Dreamshell told me this would work, if we could lure him away from his house. Keep cover fire on the dragon, please, but let Helmsborough after me." He grinned, but they couldn't see it through the helmet. "This should be a lot of fun."

Sorry Roland.
After carefully stashing the Sage book in a mailbox in the house next door, Joe cracked his knuckles as his eyes lit up. Literally. Like, white fire took the place of his ocular organs.
"Sorry Siber," Joe said as the fire worked its way up from his legs. "Like I said when we were in Crossover-oh wait, you weren't with us when I said it. Well, the gist of it is that I'm not gonna let you hog the glory and cool stories from this trip."
He glanced back to the building. "Calm before the storm. Listen, Paul, you keep fire on the dragon. Siber, I wanna fight Helmsborough too. Remember last time? C'mon."
PostPosted: Thu Sep 18, 2008 4:32 pm

"Fight him?" Siber asked. "Heck no. I have no such high-falutin' plans. I just need him out of range of that house. I think. And do you really think that book is safe there?" He nodded over at the mailbox.

Samuel watched Joe stash the book. A spark flickered in his mind. Recent books had been more than entertaining to be around. But the demons nearby... they would probably not react well to him trying to get his hands on it in plain sight like this.
The others seemed to be luring Helmsborough out of the house. Lure? Screw that. He turned around, wreathing himself in flames and getting the words of the shield's chant in his head.
I'll throw him out.
He wrapped himself and Helmsborough in fire, propelled himself into the air, and flew quickly to grab a few of the chains, picking his opponent up by them and dragging him out into the open air before hurling him out at the others. His "thrusters" hadn't been very kind to the house, but he shrugged. We all make sacrifices.

Joe's head lolled back in exasperation. "Fine, 'engage' him then. Whatever. We didn't really fight him in Crossover, either. And yes, the book is fine. If anyone tries to go for it, I don't think my friend, the Djinn, would be very happy. And that means I won't be happy."
He turned to Siber slightly. There was no obvious emotion on a face that was flat white fire. "And that wouldn't be good. Would it."

Agnese bit her lip. Any survivors of this fight would need healing, quickly. Without a second thought she brought her chain into her hand and got ready to fix anyone who came over.

"On a scale of one to screwed, where are we right now?" she asked whoever would listen.

"Screwed, if there isn't some magnificent plan," Takeshi replied.

--

Helmsborough attempted to punch Sam. This reacted violently, his less refined entropic field interfering with Sam's destructive field. They were launched opposite directions; Samuel cratered by the door; Helmsborough launched hit, ironically, the base of the mailbox post. He bounced off the ground and slid across the dirt.

He looked at the book. "Oh, no you don't!" he yelled, sending a pulse of crimson at it.

--

The dragon snarled at the cobalt bullets but shrugged the phase bullets off; it seemed the proportion of bullets had a very specific distribution in mind. The reason there were so many cobalt bullets compared to phase bullets was that the dragon hardly seemed more than annoyed by penetration by the full clip of cobalt rounds. It grabbed Fyrin in its claw and pinned him into a wall.

"No," it growled, fire in its mouth. It drew its head back.

Fyrin ground his jaws together briefly before he enacted another clever plan. He blew the wall out behind him - all of it, and tossed himself out with it. Then with a burst of air magic he tossed himself into the sky with a backflip, landing on his feet on the house next to Helmsborough's - if he wasn't intercepted.

Paul, meanwhile, swapped magazines quickly, ignoring the conversations and actions going on about him. He was focused. Very focused.

The dragon hurled a fireball from its mouth onto the building and moved towards the outside.

Joe sidearmed a burningly bright fireball on an intercept path for the crimson wave. Just to be safe, he blasted wind along the ground, lifting the book off the ground. He slid it behind a bush, then turned back to Helmsborough.
"Jonny! I missed you bro! Remember what I said last time?"

((Venom, so far no one has come up to take them back from me... smile
Does that mean I can use em?))

Agnese nodded in understanding. "So, I came all this way to get screwed in a very unfun way?" She looked at the japanese man. "That's so very uncool."

((If you feel like it. Where, pray tell, have you stored them? xd ))

Jonathan Helmsborough's blast plowed through Joe's fireball effortlessly, tearing apart the ground where the book was. He launched another towards the bush singlemindedly, ignoring Joe.
