Jojo had stood up during the meeting and walked to the kitchen during the meeting. As he listened to the other's talk he made a pitcher of lemonade. He returned a few minutes later with the freshly made drink and cups, and placed them on the coffee table in the middle of the room for people to take if they felt like it. He returned to his seat, and spoke up.

"Sorry to ruin the mood, but security cameras won't cut it in my opinion. Yes, they will help greatly, but we need more than that if we want to improve the security around here. I'm sure Rowan can tell us how easy it is to turn off security cameras." Jojo leaned forward, and placed his head in his hands. "Maybe we should think about upgrading the locks on the doors. Or better yet, get a keypad for the front and back doors. That way only a password will unlock the doors. It's much safer than using keys, because keys can be stolen or lost." Jojo shrugged. "Security systems aren't my specialty, but that's my two cents."

((Oh, and I like your idea Beauregarden. Having a variety of ways to steal things would definately make things more interesting.))

Shizuka looked at the lemonade in the cup, smelled like a lime.... She swished it around in the cup then swigged some down. Listening to Jojo, she raised her hand to talk. "How about DNA access, availible through thumbprint identification. Almost impossible to break." She explained with quite a bit of knowledge.

"Yes, thumb print verification, passwords, all sound like good ideas to me." Rio replied taking a glass of lemonade himself. He ran a hand through his hair. He hadn't ever really thought of the need to protect there base so profusely until today. It seemed like it really wasn't an option anymore; they would have to do it. "What do you think Nadia, your a master of breaking and entering" he said playfully, "Of all the times you've gotten through doors, whats the one thing thats given you the most difficulty?"

((YEah, I agree with Beauregardens idea as well. Um...i guess as the leader Rios main thing would be the planning of the missions? o_o; But lets say he specializes in...evasive techniques.))

"Anything with a keypad or a lock can be broken into. The DNA technology sounds good, or maybe voice recognition." Robert looked to the side. "That's my two-cents, anyway." He thought of the cost of all this and inwardly quailed.

(( i guess Robert would be... i dunno... tech expert or somethin'? i hadn't really thought of it ))

((wow.. a lot, sorry I missed it, I got grounded last night until today =/. ok to Beauregarden: im more than totally fine with the shaping you’ve been doing XD I really like the way the rp is going so lets keep it up =] I also like the ‘rival’ idea lol, it adds a nice twist =] ))

Nadia laughed. “They tried to break into a museum through a window? What’d they use, a rock? Robert’s right though, although most of them may be stupid, they’re still smart enough to give out any information they know about us to the police in hopes of getting off the hook. And not all of them are stupid. What was that one group we ran into a while back,” she said, motioning in the air with her hand, “I forget their exact name but I was reading an article before the mission about the same group. They successfully robbed a museum in the area. It was top-notch security, too. Apparently, they managed to sneak in through the ventilation shafts. Anyway, we’re not the only smart group out there, and I guess my point is we shouldn’t underestimate our opponents, if you could call them that.” She paused to pour herself a glass of Jojo’s lemonade before continuing in response to Rio.

“Well, regular door locks, usually pin tumbler locks, are far from hard to pick. Barrel lock are much more difficult to pick, I would recommend them for the doors. Fingerprint access is also a good security measure, but again, not impossible to bypass if you can get a fingerprint from one of us… My suggestion would be eye retinal scanners. The only way to bypass one of them would be to have a hostage, something that will hopefully not happen. As for the cameras, you’re right they won’t be enough, although they might help. I would suggest having a visible one by the door just for show, and have a hidden one somewhere nearby, hopefully going unnoticed in case of an intruder.”

She blushed as she realized she had just given the group a lecture on one of her favorite topics. “Sorry about that, I guess I got a little carried away,” she said with a sheepish grin.

((could I expand the my 'specialty' from lockpicking to security measures/systems in general? XD …and how about ‘Harada’s Eleven’ as our group name, wink (jk, lol) ))

((haha, somehow at dinner the topic of theif gang names came up lol, if you guys don't like "Harada's Eleven", we could always be "Robbin' in the hood" (uhh as in robbing, just in case you didn't catch that XD.) just thought i'd add that.. hopefully someone thinks its funny lol))
PostPosted: Mon Jul 30, 2007 8:31 pm

(( i like that name, but aren't there only, like, seven of us? 'Harada's Seven' maybe ))

"A camera outside? We're a thief's organization; not a convenience store. Although...," Robert mussed. "Perhaps with some kind of front, we could have all this security without bringing the suspision of the authorities. Something simple." He rubbed his chin, warming up to the idea. "Yeah... might even bring in some money on the side..." He looked around to the rest of the group, looking for any input.

(( if you guys think this might complicate things TOO much, fill free to put Robert's idea down. i just though it might be good to have more to the story then just thieving and gangs, i dunno ))

(( heh heh... Robin in da' hood... too bad we're supposed to be in japan, or i'd go with that xd ))

(( EDIT: i was trying to think of idea's, so i translated 'thieves' into a couple different languages

Dutch: Dieven
French: Voleurs
German: Diebe
Greek: Κλέφτες (Kaeotec)
Italian: Ladri
Japanese: 盗人 (heck if i know how to pronounce that)
Korean: 도둑 (no clue)
Portuguese: Ladrões
Russian: Похитители (Noxntntern {Nox-intin-tern})
Spanish: Ladrones

give you any ideas? ))

((I think the front is a good idea but it will complicate things. And I mean we are meant to be professional thieves. We can Thieve for our own selling of merchandise or getting hired a nice sum the steal stuff [this was mentioned earlier by someone]. I don't think a front is really necessary not to mention as thieves we probably do a lot of relaxing with the exception of our jobs. We live the carefree life for the most part. LOL.))

"I agree that although cameras might be good in that sense it will certainly raise suspicion about a dank and dirty alley. DNA technology seems over the top at this point. We haven't run into to many problems except for some gang members hitting the same place at the same night. There are several ways they could have figured that out if they had done minor surveillance on us. I mean whom ever went to the top of the building to check the skylights could have been spotted. That tells them a target as well as a possible way of entrance. Also the fact that they went in the same night just shows that they payed attention to the number of guards typically on duty on those nights. Not to mention they could of been bugging the phone lines to listen in on any call outs from the guards. I mean there are to many possibilities and I think it is to early to jump from a low security living quarters to a high security lair. I am not saying that we shouldn't consider it in the near future all I am saying is maybe do some low budget security fixer ups and make preparations for these upgrades. That way if anything should happen we would be prepared.

Another thing I would like to mention is if they know where we are at and want to take us out the dirty way they could tip off the police of our place of residency. If they do that and we have already spent a ton of money on this place and have to abandon it then that is a huge waste of cash."
Rowan gets up and walks to the refrigerator and grabs a bottle of water. Then he comes back and sits down. "Remember this place although very nice and being filled with quite a bit of stolen items, is still abandonable as it is. We all have places we can go to if that were the case well I don't know about Shizuka but I think I remember hearing something about her having a home before us, haha. So she can even go back there. If we want to set up DNA entry or voice recognition software then it would also make it difficult for people to come in with that help wanted sign up."

[ Dude. Raptor Dolus sounds AWESOME. ]

Kurai sat up again. "Actually, the entry isn't the problem, it's how they're getting their information. The important thing is for this place to be soundproofed, and I wouldn't be so quick to discard security cameras. They can be bypassed, but we know enough about that to hide them well and spot the signals of a fouled camera." He crossed his legs and bopped a foot slowly. "I agree, even fingerprints and whatnot are over the top. Man, what I wouldn't give for some creepy old-fashioned lock that spit poison onto a person's hand when they try to pick it..." he cackled. "But I don't think they're anywhere near trying to get into our base yet. Just listening at keyholes."

Shizuka shrugged a bit trying to think of more ideas, nothing particular jumped out at her. Sighing a bit she rolled on her back with her arms sprawled out on the floor. "I am hungry..." she said in a low voice as her stomach grumbled in agreement with her. "Still, keyholes could be all they need to find out, where we're stealing, what we're stealing, and how we are stealing. Not exactly a good thing." she said stretching a bit then shaking the ruffle out her hair.

Jojo jumped out of his seat and jogged to the kitchen, and began making snacks for the others. He called out to the others in the other room as he cut cheese into cubes. "If the police ever did plan on paying us a visit, there's a good chance that we would know ahead of time. I just picked up an old police scanner, and put it in my room. I don't know much about it, but if someone else wants to fiddle around with it then go ahead." Jojo placed the cheddar cheese cubes on a platter and began slicing a stick of pepperoni. "Sorry for getting worked up over the security thing, Rowan. I guess there are more important things to be worrying about, but at least Shizuka can get a hold on some cameras." He added the pepperoni slices on the platter, and poured crackers next to the cheese. He returned to the room and placed the platter on the table next to the lemonade.

He plopped a cheese cube into his mouth and sat down in his seat once more. "Hm... now that I think about it, we really don't know much about our rivals. Hell, they probably know more about us than we do of them. I can try to gather a little more information on the other thieves."

((I like Raptor Dolus too. It's to bad you can't translate the Japanese version of thieves though. I would like to know what that sounds like. Also, maybe Jojo's 2nd specialty can be gathering information. Something along those lines?))

Shizuka leaned back against the couch trying to reach for a slice of pepperoni at the same time; Which of course wasn't working too well. Leaning forward she snagged a piece of pepperoni and listened to the conversation just nodding. She moved her feet a bit to a more comfortable posistion then got up. "I'm going to my room guys if that is okay." she said getting up figuring the conversation was nearing to its end. Closing her bedroom door behind her Shizuka flopped onto her bed and sighed pulling the picture of her mother in a frame closer. "You sure were pretty mom.." She said looking at her father who had been colored out with a sharpie and put the picture back. Rolling onto her stomach, Shizuka threw her arms over the end of the bed letting them dangle as she buried her head into a pillow she pulled aside.
