Gion grinned. Don't worry, he assured Daemon. I won't let anyone take you away from me - I'll stick with you until we can get you out of there ... somehow.
He wondered what exactly he would be able to do to help.

Thank you Gion....
Daemon replied touched by this, he was glad to know Gion and thought Yume would like to meet him too if she hadn't moved on to rebirth.

Gion grinned. You're more than welcome. Besides being a very beautiful sword, I believe that you deserve to find your way back home. Everyone should be able to.
Sadly, he also thought, And they should be able to stay no matter what.
Thinking of course of his sister.

You really do think ahead of your time Gion.
Daemon replied softly.
There might become a time when people can stay no matter what, but that takes time, time and change.

It can't come soon enough, Gion sighed.
He plodded onward.

Daemon wondered how he didn't become cynical about that part about people... after all he was kind of like Elnara, granted he wasn't alone. He supposed that was the reason.
He let Gion travel in peace though he was getting bored... well it happened when he couldn't watch the scenery.

As Gion walked, he wondered what it would be like to have the entire family - or at least, the living members - all together again. If their mother somehow returned to them, would they go back to live at the plantation? Or were the others so used to the castle now that they would want to stay there? Would they take their mother back? Not likely ...
He sighed again. Things were so difficult when they didn't have to be ... if only there was some way to convince his brothers of that.

You're broading again.
Daemon stated, a state he was so use to Gion being in since that incident with Elnara. Not that Daemon could blame Gion, it was just that if the boy kept it up it would drive himself batty.
Trying to figure out how to give your brothers a good dose of empathy?

Or even just make them accept the fact that Mother and Elnara are what they are, Gion nodded inwardly.
I mean, Mother's our mother - she's always been the same, they loved her before, why can't they love her now? And Elnara, our sister! She's changed to be sure, but she was gone for eleven years - that's to be expected! But she's always been who she is, who she is hasn't changed - so why do they all have to act as if she has?!
He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair again. I just don't understand it.

Fear makes them do that. ignorace and the fact they don't suffer... well some would argue be blessed with that kind of ability.
Daemon replied back.
There was once a lady philospher.. and I'll tell you now this has never been my best subject... that once said that we all carry an invisible backpack. This backpack is filled with rights we take for granted, not because we've earned them, but because we just are.
He stumbled a bit as if trying to work it through.
What I'm trying to say is... your brothers have backpacks of rights they take for granted without knowing it. Them for example the kind of things that are in their backpacks are that they are elves, normal height, have magic and have no unusual qualities to them. Well I suppose their class could be included in that as well.
He sighed a bit.
The point is... they've always had those rights, and unless those rights are taken away or they become aware of those rights they are just born with, they cannot understand. They've never had to fear for their lives, or fear rejection.. .well knowing your background probably the former, but not for a reason such as not being like everyone else. They've had little denied of them on basis of what they are. What I'm trying to say is that, they are thinking the way the majority of the population would view people like your mother, your sister... you... without thinking what if one day they woke up and found they were the odd one. Perhaps that is a place for you to start questioning their beliefs when you get back.

Gion was silent for a long while as he thought about what Daemon had said. Finally, he nodded.
Yes, he thought slowly. That's ... a good idea. Yes. I'll do that.
He grinned and picked up his pace, suddenly more energetic.

Glad to be of help... and look at it this way the fact that by the time we get back you'll have been all over these lands will make you wiser, because you've been out here... inside of in there. Daemon was happy he could help.

Maybe I'll be able to bring back something more than just traveling experience, Gion mused. Maybe something that will actually make them listen to me instead of shrug me off.
He wondered what could possibly get them interested in what he had to say.

You mean besides accounts of what you've seen or learnt?
Daemon asked curiously.
Maybe this Ulani you told me about knows something useful.... something that might help.

Gion brightened again. Yes, maybe she will, he agreed. Elnara said she had to do some convincing back when she was young, too - I'm sure she'll be able to help!
