Kori followed close behind Minya, having landed soon after her. The inquisitive little hatchling in her mane had climbed up to the top of the Eastern's head and was shuffling about, trying to see everything at once!
"Ack! Stop, Harley! Sit still!"

Aedan kept up with Minya's slow pace easily, one of only about half of those who had come who wasn't exhausted from the long trip. For the most part, he was silent as well. There were a few indications that he might have been talking minutely with Minya either through their connection or vocally, but nothing was loud enough to be strongly heard.
Minya took them inland from the beach, leading the small group through the field of flowers and upwards, into the shallow ridge of mountains. The sloped sides were gentle, though the grass and flowers faded away into drier dirt and rocks. After a time, they crested a ridge and were looking down on another field no less stunning than the one they had first seen. But there was something uniquely different about this field. The magic it radiated wasn't simply felt - it could be seen. The buds on flowers were of varying sizes, most closed and obviously growing. Some were almost in full bloom, though their petals revealed nothing of the pollinating traits of stamens and pistols that most plants had; instead, there were normal-sized actual Kyn eggs - of all different species and colors.
The path ahead sloped and twisted down into the valley between the mountains, looming straight into these Birthing Flowers. "Again, I urge you to not touch. Contact with a flower before it's time can corrupt the egg - and destroy the one touching it." Powerful magic indeed.

The walk up the ridge was quite easy, and she was thankful they didn't have to scale any huge moutain cliff in order to get to their destination. However once they had reached it, poke could only watch in amazement. So, babies didn't come from the cabbibe patch after all; Well, sort of...
However once they began moving down the slop she felt uneasy herself. Did she really want to walk into a field were if she touched something it could destryoy herself or the actual egg? And what was the purpose of showing them this place?
poke wrapped her tail around her waist, just like a belt, to keep it from moving anywere, and kept close to aedan and Minya. If a kyn could walk through this without touching anything hopefully she could do the same thing.

Rosemary gulped- she was seconds away from landing on one of the flowers. Since she hadn't done much of the actually flying here, she decided that she didn't need to rest her wings for now and stayed in the air. What a fool she would be, if her life was to end because she landed on a Kyn egg.
Looking at one egg near her, Rosemary examined it from a safe distance. Was her mother from one of these flowers? Rosemary had been borne to feral kyns, but someone from her ancestor...were they actually from a flower? realizing she was falling behind, Rosemary sped up her flight to catch up with the rest of the group.

Paige, distracted by the group moving as well as Minya and Aedan's warnings, lost her train of thought for a few moments. Finally she turned back to Tare, nodding slightly. "Oh, yeah, that. About you and Asayake." She paused, considering, then continued. "How much do you know about Shinju?" An odd question, perhaps, but it made perfect sense to her and her train of thought.

Tare shifted some, a bit perplexed by the question. "I assume that goes deeper than knowing about his opinion of me... which means this goes a bit deeper. The only thing I really know about Shinju's history is something I found in the library, the catalog of owned Kyn and breeding records. I discovered that Asayake's mother is the only Kyn with whom Shinju has bred, but she has gone on to mate with others, including another Kyn in your flight. Is that what his hang-up is, then? He doesn't trust me with Asayake because her mother broke his trust?"
Tare shook his head and looked ahead of himself once more to listen, but quickly reared back and flew over a tree that was in the way. He carefully slid back down to fly a few meters above the others. "Mmm... remind me not to look back again, I need to be careful here..." The necromancer didn't even want to set his claws on the ground, even in the air he could feel the tremendous life force in the land. He didn't want to risk reacting with it and getting overloaded or something.

She felt a little uneasy after asking her question, quickly realizing how uncomfortable it must have made Tare feel. It wasn't what he had been expecting, obviously. With a tentative smile, Paige nodded her head as she listened to him speak. Anything she was going to say was cut abruptly off as Tare dodged the tree that had jumped in his way. For another few moments, she was silent, trying to keep her heart in her chest where it belonged.
"Yes... careful is a good thing..." She released a small sigh, trying to turn her attention back to the topic at hand. It was a little more difficult now. "But, yes, I think that you have a good point there about Shinju."

Tetania stared at the egg-bearing flowers for a moment, amazed. She had never imagined that kyn grew from flowers, and after a moment was very curious how that came to be. Hering Minya's words, she tred vary carfully, practically in Minya's own footprints, to try to avoid causing any damage to teh flowers and the precious young lives they harbored.
As they walked, Tetania got a better look at the flowers as she passed them, and again wondered how kyn eggs could grow from flowers. Certainly there was very strong magic involved, but the exact nature of the magic was a mystery to her. She evntually decided to hope that Minya would explain, and turned her attention back to where she was stepping.

Maggie follows. (Would write more, if weren't tired)
(*Writes more*)
The large Kyn looked warily at the flowers. So, he'd guessed right. That didn't make him feel much better, knowing that any clumsy misstep would cause him to not only crush a young dracling who never had a chance but obliviate him as well. Magnus took care to stay on the path that Minya showed them. He looked around, making sure also that no one else was doing the same he feared would happen, while all the while he walked by Myrrh's side and playfully flicked her tail with his.

((Been a-waitin' on ye, DW. ^_^ Welcome back.))
Myrrh's tail twisted slowly around Maggie's, silver and red fur mixing softly. Stepping dantily, she was even more careful; to unravel one life, let alone two, would be a terrible thing. But all the same, it was truly an amazing sight. She prayed that she would be able to remember this for the remainder of her life. Perhaps even she herself had come from one of these flowers, or at least one or both of her parents. In a way, this felt rather like a homecoming, albeit one where one must be careful where to step (but then, judging by the tales Ninja had told of her own family reunions, that was generally the case).

It was interesting to watch everyone else not to squish any flowers, since they also did not want to affect the ky's lives or their own. A thought then popped into her head. "These kyn...well... any kyn must have extreme powers at their command" she said out loud, though she wasn't sure who to say it to. "if a flower could destroy such a massive beast, and each flower may hold some form of kyn...it's weird. I guess this is were kyn get all their magical powers from"

Kori twisted through the air, frowning to herself as she followed along, now behind Tare. She hoped that the little creature in her mane, one Aedan had dubbed a "butterkyn," was behaving herself.

Minya's great body moved down the path with ample berth, her tail even swaying a bit from side-to-side. Unless someone was trying particularly hard to go after a flower and its prize - which it obviously guarded very closely - there was little danger. Up ahead the path sloped down yet again, revealing even more of the valley which must have covered a large portion of the island. Even further down was a small clearing where the grass didn't grow, leaving behind exposed tawny, dry dirt. The group headed towards that area, which was soon to be discovered dotted by boulders. It looked as if it were ruins of some kind where the flowers refused to grow. Both Minya and Aedan stopped short of the ruins, using the extra space to turn around and look back at the motley assortment of Kyn and riders.
"This place is called the Meadow of Life. It's where all Kyn come from initially," Minya's voice echoed across the canyon walls, which were steep and imposing on all sides except through the path they had taken.
Aedan cleared his throat a bit, looking more weary than he should have. "All species start here. The Kyn as a race may be constantly changing, but new breeds can only arise at the will of the island. In essence, the Kyn are entirely exempt from evolution."

Exempt from evolution, because they come from flowers...? he thought, frowning slightly and looking back behind him. Draco recalled seeing a particular red and white flower that much resembled himself. Well, why should he be the only red and white Kyn in existence? But then...
"Miss Minya," Magnus called, bowing his head in courtesy. "I have a question regarding the flowers... Once an egg has left it, what happens to the plant? Does it bear an identical egg, or does it change, or die? And then... What seeds do the flowers sprout from?" He was curious, no doubt, but he seemed to be missing the larger point about the island, the meadow, and pretty much everything else.

The little butterkyn, dubbed "Harley" by Kori, climbed to the top of the much larger dragon's head and perched, chirruping softly. The dragoness sighed and dipped her head down, letting the hatchling climb down onto her front leg.
"Aedan... Why do no flowers grow here? Is this the area from which kyn have already been formed?"
