Aya panted heavily as she reached the bottom of the falls. She had ran all the way from her mother's office to here. Her hands fell to her knees as she bent over to breath and take a break. Once her breathing was under control, her eyes began to swell once again. There was a pain in her chest from running so hard and a pain in her chest from something else; the fact her mother was too busy for her now. Eventhough Aya was surrounded by friends and family, she still felt lonely. Izuki, who she had been friends with since birth, was gone. Kioshi was distracted by training and other things, such as Sumire. Koro was no longer her teacher or older brother. Her mother...and her mother...she was caught up with everyone else in the village that there was no time for her little Aya.
As all these thoughts rushed through Aya's head, her knees began shaking as they fell out from underneath her and hit the cool, moist ground. Even before her knees hit, Aya let out a loud cry. It could barely be heard over the rushing waters of the falls, but the little girl that always had a smile and there to cheer up others was crying by herself...

Aski walked into the fall area, he was going to the academy but took a small detour. He was secretly hoping he could practice some of the stuff his clan did. He liked the falls because usually no one was here and he could practice privatly. He didn't like people knowing he could sing. As he walked into the falls he could hear small sobs, he wasn't sure if he should intrude but as he looked around the corner he could see that it was Aya. He had never seen her cry before and was worried. He wasn't sure if he should walk over to her. Wait till she left and confront her later.
He had promised to be her best friend and the festival and this seemed like a good opportunity to live up too it. He slowly edged over trying not to make any loud surpsiing noises and slipped down onto a rock only about 2 feet away. He wanted to wait for her to finish. When she was done she could tell him. Or she could walk away, it was her choice and he hoped she made it soon. It hurt him too see people cry, it always meant sorrow. He decided too speak up, just to confirm he was welcome. In a small voice he quietly said to her "Do you want me too be here? Or shall i leave?" he asked the question calmly not trying to sounds intrusive of her space.

Aya kept her head bowed and tried to wipe away the tears that had run down her cheeks and were still swelling up in her eyes. Slowing bringing her head up, she saw Aski sitting on a rock. "A-Aski," she hiccuped through her sobs as she tried to hold in the rest of the sobs and hiccups, but failed as she went back to crying. Quickly turning to him, Aya went to hug him for security. Her little fingers wrapped themselves tightly around the cloth of his shirt and jacket as she pressed her forehead against his chest and slowly started to calm down. His body felt warm and the sound of his heartbeat was the one thing that was calming her down, even if it were to speed up Aya would still find it calming. Her eyes focused on the ripples in the waters of the river that were caused by the falling water. With one last hiccup, Aya stopped crying, but still clung onto Aski's shirt and jacket. "Sorry..." she said quietly as she closed her eyes from exhaustion and purely listened to the heart beat and to the sounds of the falls.

Aski was a little surprised something could cause her too feel so bad. He hugged her back. It calmed him when she finally stopped crying, "So, do you want to talk about it?" he asked her quietly. He didn't want to intrude but he always talked about his problems even if he talked to himself about it.

Aya shook her head from side to side as she sat up and scooted a little ways away from Aski as she dried her tears on the sleeve of her shirt. "I'm alright now!" she said cheerfully as a smile crossed her face. She didn't want to tell Aski that she was crying because she missed her moma. That would definitely make Aya feel like the little girl she was. It was important to her that everyone else didn't look down on her because of her age. Even Aski was three years older than her.

Aski smiled feeling alot better. "Ok!" He said smiling to the girl. He quickly pulled out a tiny string. "Cat's craddle?" he taunted her dangling it in front of her face. "I'll go first!" he said moving his fingers trying to create a new puzzle for Aya.

[Your Intel is so high now!]
Aya smiled. Aski sure knew how to cheer her up! She watched his fingers loop the string from side to side making the string cross over itself here and there. Once he was done, Aya slowly brought her fingers towards the string and grabbed onto two pieces and then she pulled.

"Whoops," Aya said as she made a mess of the string. She used to be pro at this game, but now it was getting harder and harder. "I'll make one for you," she said, as she slipped the jumbled mess of string onto her hands and then began weaving it with her fingers. "Aski, how was your first day with your genin group?" She asked with curiosity since he had probably gotten to be with the others from the Academy instead of experienced genins.

While she spoke, Aya's nose scrunched up as she made a mistake in the puzzle and caused the string to knot. She sighed slightly as a bit of depression set in. Her mind wasn't really set to play the game, but she would try her hardest to play. It was one of her favorite things to do and was easily taking her mind off her mother. Aya tried looping the string once again as she listened to Aski's answer.

[Bah! The dice hate me! What did I do to upset them???]
Aya picked the sting up off her fingers and handed it back to Aski. "I'm not having much luck," she said to him while dangling the string in front of him. "My fingers are a little tense from practicing with my bo today," Aya said as she cracked her knuckles. "I even smacked myself!" Aya said, bringing up her leg to point out a few bruises on her shins. "I'm not the most graceful weapon user yet!" she said with a small giggle.

Shinichi had meant to go back to the bamboo forest after his lunch and shower, but he was in a mood for someplace new. Sure, Mizu Falls wasn't his favourite locations, but that might in turn serve as a distraction in case his thoughts returned to negativity again. As he walked along the falls, Shinichi glanced up and spotted Aya with Aski-san in the distance. His footsteps ceased immediately. That same familiar fear of.. fear of... something prevented him from simply going up and talking to her, but after the festival... and Smi-san... what other choice did he have? Furthermore, would Aski-san mind him being here? Shinichi took a deep breath, having made his decision, and advanced towards the pair.

"Shinichi!" Aya said happily as the he approached them. She had a bright smile on her face. All trace of sadness had disappeared and it no longer looked as if she had been crying recently. "How was Smi's shop? He didn't make you work really hard did he?" she asked him as she turned around on her bum to face him since she was sitting on the ground.

He grinned slightly as she asked her question. "No, it was kind of fun, actually." Shinichi took a seat next to her and tried to look at her in the eyes. He failed miserably and directed his eyes instead to the lower part of her face. His thoughts were still on the chakra exercise, though. Wait. Aya was pretty good at ninjutsu so maybe he could ask her if they could do any chakra building training together. Then again, maybe he should just enjoy the moment now while it lasted. After all, his stomach was full and he wanted to relax at least for a few moments before training again.

[Yay!]
"That's good! He seemed to brighten up a little before I left," Aya said as she stretched out her legs in front of her. Her eyes went to her bruises once again. They were so funny looking. It reminded her of spots on a cheetah or leopard. "Here, Aski, I'll try one more time!" she said enthusiastically as she took the string and looped it around her fingers. Hopefully she could get it right this time and not knot the string up.
