Providence would just stare at Vahn with his empty mercury eyes, reflecting his every movement in the orbs. He didnt move, nor did he speak, he simply stood there with his wrists crossed behind his back and watched him.
"Simmer down, Mister Kyonuske," Grace would interrupt, "We're here but to deliver an invitation." she said calmly as she produced a small black envelope between her index and middle fingers of her left hand with a deft flick of the wrists. She held it out, offering it to the advancing man, if he so chose to take it.
If he did, good for him. If he didnt, well, the last invitation would have just gone to waste.

"Vahn-!"
And Owle did what any useless heroine in the old movies would have done. She let him go, cried his name, clasped a hand to her heart, and...
"Be careful."
...became a cat, conveniently hard to see among the tall grasses. She began slinking through them...if Vahn needed her, well, she could at least provide a momentary distraction. With any luck these people would forget she was there, or, better yet, think she'd run off.
They seemed peaceable enough, for the moment. But Vahn seemed to think they were trouble, so if that changed...

"Invitation to what...?"
He stopped where he was, close enough to lash out with the full length of his flamberge if he so chose. But once again he was finding himself weak-kneed, and desparetly wishing Owle was there for some reason.
Looking for comfort... the hell...
Contrary to popular belief, Vahn didn't consider Owle to be useless or the leading damsel role-- he just didn't want to involve her in any of his own problems... he'd done enough to hurt her.

"It's all in the envelope Mister Kyonuske... If you so choose to open it." the woman answered evasively. All the fine details were in the envelope, and with the woman around, even if she had supposedly disappeared, she wouldnt speak the private details of the matter. With a flick of her fingers, the small black envelope was sent sailing through the air towards the man.

Raising his right hand, he caught hold of the envelope, bloody fingertips staining the enevelope darkly.
"....."
Yellowed eyes refused to leave the two, even as he stood there purely supported by his flamberge.

Grace laughed musically as she turned around and walked off with a merry step. Providence followed after her. They were done here. Inside the small black envelope would be an invitation to a small private underground tournament with no publicity whatsoever, virtually unheard of, there was but only promise of bloodshed. It included rules and directions to the place it would be held at. (( http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14435433 ))

Should Vahn attempt to follow Grace and Providence or call them back, the bird would just remain quiet on its seat. Otherwise, it would stretch its wings and start hoping along the handlebars, playfully hacking at the metal and asking for attention. If Owle or Vahn looked at it, it would clumsily lift the leg with the thin leather strap and the pearl attached to it, hoping someone would get the meaning of the strange gesture...
Why didn't I take the time for a short message, the Half-Siren thought a few miles away, sitting on the small metal bench in her shop's garden, the connection to the bird draining her more and more. With her new power, such techniques had become far more easier, but she still needed more practise with it to extend her own limits.
She wanted to talk to Vahn since the weird behaviour of Knights and Jean and his comment about that tape - and now it was just more urgent for her. Also, Lucind wished they had been somewhere else but in the plains, where she could've made the magpie write something into the sand, for example.
However, she'd got an idea of Owle's mental power, which kind of reflected her own inserted into the bird. Thus her hope was now, the other woman might catch a message, if the Half-Siren transmitted only a few main images and words into the animal: the shop Feimurgan, which Vahn and Owle had left around half an hour ago, the idea of first aid and the need to talk...

Owle knew that Vahn had been trying to protect her when he started forward...she had seen it before, with other friends and family. She knew, and she knew he was right to do so. Owle was well aware of her own limitations. She was useless in head on physical combat; staying near Vahn would only have hindered him.
But as a cat, unseen, slinking around in the grass? Well, maybe she would have been able to gut one of them before they even knew what hit them.
As Grace and Providence turned to go, the moment they were more than ten feet away, Vahn would feel something warm and furry rub up against his legs, a deep rumbling purr emanating from it. Then it would pass, and the more or less human Owle would be standing by his side again, putting an arm around him to support him.
"Come on. It's pointless staying here."
Vahn may have hurt her, but she had already forgiven him twice over. His pain was greater than hers right now, and he needed her...that made her pain unimportant. For the time.
She looked over towards the motorcycle naturally; she wasn't sure if Vahn could ride in his state, but it was the fastest way back to Latent. It was then she noticed the magpie acting strangely.
Weird.
And she would have stayed completely oblivious to its meaning, if she weren't always on the lookout for incoming telepathic messages. She didn't know how many friends she had whom she had told If you ever need me, just think my name real loud in my direction. Her astral ears were always open, and one or two snakes always hovered on the borders of her shields to catch messages that might be trying to reach her.
The cafe she and Vahn had just made a mad dash out of. First aid for Vahn's wounds. And a need to talk...well, why wait till they got there?
If Vahn bothered to notice, a single golden snake shot off from Owle, first zooming towards the magpie and staring at the poor bird through black eyes. Then it was off again, this time following Lucind's connection to the bird backwards...
It wouldn't be long before Lucind would find a snake staring her in the face. The purely astral creature, invisible to those who could not sense psionic power, would seem to bow its head politely, then nuzzle up to the woman's hand. If Lucind let it touch her, she would find Owle's voice in her head.
"You're Vahn's friend, I presume?"

"Hehehehe....." Over 900 dirty little years, each one paid with a struggle. "...Dirty little years...heh heh..." He clutched the envelope tightly, blood dripping from his fingertips.
He looked up at her with hollow eyes. "You think that don't you? Think... I'm dirty? Tell me, what's on your mind?"
For a man who seemed to exist for nothing more than to fight... his existence did rightfully seem hollow.
Seem useless.

"Dirty?" It was an odd question, and Owle was beginning to fear Vahn truly had lost his mind.
She shook her head.
"No. I mean, you're covered in your own blood right now and probably a good amount of earth, but...you're not dirty."
What was on her mind?
"All I'm thinking right now..."
Her arm still around him, she started walking. Toward the bike, toward Latent. With any luck, he would take the hint and walk with her. She couldn't very well drag him.
"Is that you're injured, and something's really shaken you. All I'm thinking, is how I'm going to get you to a safe place where you can rest, and heal." She shook her head. "Nothing else matters right now."
If he had taken the hint, and was moving, she continued to walk on without saying more. If he continued standing still, she scolded him
"Come on, walk with me. I'll get worn out if I have to shift and carry you all the way back to Feimurgan's. And I will carry you if you don't move."

Yeah, I am. Lemme show you the direct way back. Then I can meet you halfway...also gonna bring someone for the bike.
Kick him if he wants to play the hero. We most likely can't do much....self regeneration and stuff. But he shouldn't be stupid and turn down the option to rest at least a few hours...
I'm on 'stand by' for a moment to get things arranged and fill up my power reserves...After that, the magpie started behaving quite normal, but didn't leave the handlebars until it rose from it several minutes later to lead Owle and Vahn back.

"...Your stubbon."
He began moving forward complying with her wishes, even as the flamberge was dragged along behind him.
"Why is it all the women I meet are so damn stubborn..."
Giving as much as he could in support to Owle, he followed her lead, trying not black out from strain before it was too late.

((Lucind: heart
Vahn: That post made me smile. Thank you. heart ))
Owle just smiled at him. "I get it from my brother and my sister...you've seen how Rage is."
She moved forward slowly, one foot in front of the other, making sure Vahn would keep up. She really would carry him if she had to...for now, though, she was thanking her lucky stars he could support some of his own weight. The man was heavy!
There would be no physical sensation when Lucind touched the snake...her hand, in fact, would go right through it. But the contact allowed Owle a mindlink to her.
"Alright."
There was a little bit of mistrust in Owle's mental voice...Vahn wasn't doing so great, and she wasn't a warrior. What if this person wasn't Vahn's friend? What if she were laying an ambush?
"Don't worry...I'm not going to let him run off before he can heal up." Then softer, because Owle was thinking it to herself, unintentionally broadcasting it, Self-regeneration, huh? So that's why he always seems to heal so quick after being beaten half to death...
It was difficult to fake sincerity, or anything, really, over a mental connection. But it had been done before.
"Vahn never mentioned your name. I'm Owle."
It was a test, of sorts. If Vahn recognized the name, fine. If he didn't...well...Owle didn't really think that far ahead. Nor did it actually occur to her that it would have been easy for a telepath to get the name of one of Vahn's friends. She was sort of desperate right now...she didn't know how long she could last, supporting Vahn like this. And she didn't know how long he could, without treatment.
So when the magpie rose up, Owle followed.
Lucind would find that wherever she might try to go, the snake would follow...keeping in contact if she allowed. The snake would do nothing more than look vaguely creepy to those who could see it, and would not force contact on her if she refused it, but it would not let her get more than two feet away from it. It was merely one more way for Owle to keep track of her, to make sure Lucind was meeting them like she said and not leading them astray.
However, if Lucind cared to use any kind of force to try and get rid of it, the creature would simply fade away, destroyed at the merest puff of power and will thrown at it. The snakes alone were not dangerous, nor strong. It was only in numbers they could hurt people.
