Yuki continued to wander aimlessly around the grounds, lost in thought. He paid no mind to the burn in his throat - the vampire hadn't fed properly since he left the clan grounds, but he knew he could manage it. ...at least, he hoped he could manage it, so long as there was no freshly spilled blood in the area.

He lowered his hood, letting his black hair spill opening across his back. The leaves rustled quietly in the light breeze, and the with it came the scent of another being. He turned his head a fraction of an inch, red eyes peering in the direction of the source, and saw a boy sat at one of the fountains. 'That's peculiar', he thought, 'It's a bit late...but then, I suppose it is Tenshi...I wonder why I didn't sense him before.'

The vampire was torn, however, between wandering over and remaining alone. His control might not be controllable in close proximity, and he certainly didn't want to risk it, but this person might know something about Glissa or...Koori. Or, at least, some news of why this place seemed so deserted.

'I'll let him make the first move.' He thought, nodding slightly at Austin in acknowledgment.

Kotaru sat perched on a tree in the distance, watching the quiet exchange with a grin on her face. She had traveled further than she ever had in this immortal life of hers, and it had proven worthwhile. Yuki hadn't been that hard to track down, after all - the boy was so beyond obvious with his movements - and she could easily keep an eye on him while concealing her presence.

Her long white hair flowed in the light breeze, and her red eyes all but glowed in the darkness. Kotaru was wearing little more than a white sundress, but she didn't feel the cold of the night. It was, however, far less decadent than she cared to appear, and longed for the time when she could change into something far more suitable to her status.

Although she had no mind reading powers of her own, she knew her brother's thoughts dwelled on this 'Koori' woman, and, were it not for her decades of self control, she'd have snapped the branch clean off the tree in rage. ...that said, the branch would come out of this encounter a little worse for wear, with obvious dents in the form of clutched fists. She wanted, needed, craved going down there and claiming Yuki for her own...and potentially taking away the one bystander who knew of his return to this idiotic school.

But...she would wait. Her father had told her of the merits of laying in wait, the thrill of the chase, and...what lay in store for her blood-brother. If she could hold off announcing herself now, the fruits of her endurance would surely pay off later.

'You just wait, Yuki...you will be mine.'

[OOC: Just let Kotaru be for a bit~ I just wanted to introduce her for play later. I've not quite figured out what I have planned for her just yet, and it wouldn't do for her presence to be called out just yet!]

(oh, mmkay. I'll leave her be..but just for fun im gonna tag her presence with my own char, since that's been done to him as well)
Austin noticed a quiet nod come from the Vampire, and remained there for a moment, wondering what to do next. He hadn't intended to formally engage the vampire, he just thought it interesting that one should choose this school among others to attend, especially what with the guild starting up several night academies globally for vamps.. After a moment, Austin decided to stroll over, pitching his cigarette butt off behind him; Then he heard a noise. He paused his stroll, then realized that if somebody had been watching them, it had been for quite a while and with a well enclosed presence. So to play off his sudden pause, he leaned down and feigned tying his shoelaces, and in the meantime, reached out again with his mental tendrils into only the surrounding area. He felt himself, insects...a few birds...the vampire...and a very faint presence, somewhere near the outskirts of the courtyard. It felt like that of a bird...But different somehow. He looked up now, then came back up to continue his advance towards Yuki. Whomever they were, he wasnt sure if they were hostile or not, because he couldnt even feel out their mind..so he simply kept his left hand in his pocket, curled around and explosive tag.
"Hey there...just noticed you were out here too, thought you might want some company...if that's okay, that is."

Yuki noticed the boy had tensed ever so slightly, but had a feeling there wouldn't be conflict this evening...at least, not between himself an Austin. "Yes, I should think so." Yuki murmured, as politely as he could muster, making sure to not inhale the mortal's scent. A faint whiff slipped past, however, and his throat burned at the firey sirens call. He quickly put a pale hand over his mouth and nose, and muttered a quiet apology.

Austin noticed Yuki's attempt to hold back an urge of thirst, and responded in turn with a polite gesture.
" Haven't fed in a while?"
Austin had seen far worse conditions in vampires before, but Yuki seemed like he utterly needed a drink to replenish himself. And with an unkown enemy watching them, it mightve been best if he was ready for battle with full strength..
" Well, you may have your own reasons for not feeding recently, but it is imperative that you keep your strength up. Alot of the students who were enrolled before moved on since Headmistress Navali made her little trip to the Underworld..They were tired of sitting around with no credits. But since then, we've had alot of religious zealots enroll here since a demon is no longer running the show..you'd do well to stay on your gaurd and best behavior."
Austin reached into his coat slowly, and pulled out a small corked vial with a sealing tag on it. A small mist of cold air rolled off of it, dissipating seconds afterwards.
" I usually keep a little bit of my blood with me in case i get poisoned and need to do a blood purge. It helps to have fresh blood to dilute the poison. But i haven't needed it at all, so if you'd like it, you may have it."
Austin offered Yuki the vial, removing the tag slowly as to avoid damaging it.

It took all of Yuki's strength to not lunge at the vial. Blood, delicious, life-sustaining, glorious... He tensed, he refused to dive at it like an animal. He'd had enough of animals, enough of his kind eating what they wanted, when they wanted, who they wanted. Yuki liked to think he had a bit more class than that.

...still...

The vampire reached over it to it, as calmly as he could manage, but it was still a quick, lustful motion, very greedy in its speed. He managed out a sharp, quiet word of thanks as he succumbed to his natural state. He sloshed Austin's blood down into his mouth, his tongue rolling over it wildly, his eyes glazing with satisfaction.

...but it wasn't enough, this minor amount of blood. He'd downed it like a shot of cheap vodka without realizing it was all he'd get. It only furthered his bloodlust, and it would only be a matter of time before he actually snapped. Still, he could return to being the rational creature he was for now, only temporarily. At least he was no longer burdened with the task of not killing the boy.

"Religious zealots, you said?" Yuki asked, resuming the conversation as if nothing had happened. "And why did she head to the Underworld?"

"Yeah, religious zealots; All kinds of holy swordsmen. Priests of the blade, so to speak."
Austin reached back into his pocket and pulled out another vial, handing it to Yuki.
"That's the last one I have with me, so try to make it last just a bit longer, mmk?"
Austin reached back into his pocket afterwards, and pulled another smoke from it, along with a black Zippo lighter with an engraved symbol of the word flame in japanese.
He lit his cigarette, taking a puff before moving on to Yuki's second question.
" And as to why she went to the underworld, I'm unsure of that myself. The note on her door said she was off to handle some family business; whatever that would entail, she has yet to return from it."
Austin ashed his cigarette, taking another passive drag at it.
"Anyway, i have yet to introduce myself. My name's Austin, Austin Gonzales. and yours would be?..."

"Thank you, I'll keep that in mind." Despite that, Yuki downed this vial like a shot as well, but it was a bit more filling than the last. Enough to be rational, enough to have a wander around the campus and see what's going on here at Tenshi...enough to see if...if she'd still be here. Austin might know - he seemed to know a lot of things, Yuki noted - but even if he'd had the nerve to ask, the answer might be worse than not knowing. Even if Koori were here, she might not want to see him - she probably didn't - and he knew he couldn't face that. His eyes darkened for a moment, as her face came to mind again.

"Ah, right. Glissa might have her hands full when she returns, then"
'If she returns.' The vampire added mentally, filing the information at hand away. Glissa's family business never seemed to be a lovely, heart-warming experience. The zealots would prove no danger to himself...hopefully. Once Yuki had properly fed, at any rate. Once he could be sure he was in complete control of his actions. He held his hand out, a small grin playing on his blood-tinged lips. "I'm Yuki Ketsueki, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Austin reached out and softly gripped Yuki's hand, shaking it.
"Same here. So Yuki, if you don't mind my asking...How long have you been a vampire?"
Asking such a question felt awkward, as it was a unique one. It was sort of asking how long somebody had been part of a club at the same time as asking how long someone had AIDS. It was a strange feeling. Unsure whether the question was improper, Austin shifted slightly after releasing Yuki's hand and took another drag at his cigarette before pitching it halfway across the courtyard into a trash can.
"If you don't want to say, that's fine. I'm just curious, i've only met two other vampires in my time."

The vampire sighed, he hadn't been asked this in a while. "It's been over two hundred years. I stopped keeping count after that...it's not been more than three hundred, however." Yuki returned his hand to his pocket. Everyone he'd known recently had already known that...nearly everyone. The last person to ask had been... He sighed again.

"That's a fine aim you've got there," He noted, as Austin disposed of his cigarette's remains. "I suppose I can see why you're at this school - or, rather, what was once a school." Mind, having a good aim was one thing, it was the discretion on its use that mattered in Yuki's opinion. He briefly hoped the boy wasn't one for causing trouble. Not that his opinion mattered much these days, not since becoming an outcast within his own realm. "At any rate, might I ask what you're doing out here, so far beyond twilight? Someone your age should probably be in bed." The vampire teased lightly.

"Thanks, all it is is practice..been working on it for a bit, the pitching skills."
Austin felt a minor sense of pride in his ability to flick cigarette butts, although it wasn't something he was exactly beaming about.
" Well...I'm not exactly sure myself. I've always preferred night-time..it has a different energy. Things are...much more quiet, to say the least. It gives me an opportunity to think about things without the hustle and bustle of everybody around me. And besides, you don't even know how old I am."
Austin prodded Yuki with a bit of humor.
" But, you're right, it is a bit late for an 18 year-old to be out and about. But it suits me just fine, i like it out here."
Austin's attention shifted now, looking up at the crescent moon hanging lazily in the sky. Barely hidden by a few streams of clouds. He felt a sense of peace..And then, he noticed something. There seemed to be a small figure of some sort, a girl, from the framework of her body, hiding up in a tree, observing the two of them. Austin's attention slipped back to Yuki, acting as if he had not seen her at all. He reached out tenderly with the tendrils of his subconscious, and linked with Yuki's.
'Don't move. Don't speak. Were you intending to meet anybody out here tonight? Because we seem to have a secret observer, just about 17 yards out from us hiding in that Japanese maple. From what I can tell, it's a girl.'

Kotaru frowned, her platinum hair wafting around her in the light breeze. That boy, that lowly human, shouldn't have been able to notice her. He hadn't been that subtle with his psudo-psychic abilities, and the young woman hadn't expected him to be quite so...astute. 'Still,' She thought, 'I wasn't hiding as carefully as I could've been. Perhaps I wanted this to happen.' She smirked to herself and leaped gracefully from her branch, landing a few feet from the boys.

"Greetings brother." She said with about as much warmth as a snake would to his dinner. "I see you've already made friends with the local dirt." She shrugged, a strap of her white dress slipping off of her shoulder. Kotaru didn't regard the human boy beyond that - after all, he was just the food supply, nothing sentient about him beyond his supposed minor abilities. She suspected the mortal might want to force this into a bout of some sort - how very civilized, how human - but she knew that Yuki wouldn't let him harm her, regardless of his disdain for her lifestyle, for their birthright, or any of that. 'Yuki is such a softie. I honestly am surprised he'd come to a gruff place like this.'

Yuki sighed. The instant Austin had said a girl was in the trees...he knew who it had to be, and it came as no surprise to see his little sister - sister being a loose term, of course - float down towards them like a goddess inspecting her lowly flock for the ritualistic sacrifice. He had hoped for some quiet before she forced her way back into his life again. The council had let him leave, why couldn't she just let him go? A voice in the back of his mind quietly hoped that their creator wouldn't follow. The dark haired boy never wanted to see that man again if he could ever help it.

"Kotaru." He greeted curtly, closing his eyes briefly before turning to Austin. He continued, ignoring Austin's unspoken command. Kotaru was his territory, his family - he knew how to best deal with her. "To answer your question - no, I wasn't expecting anyone familiar here tonight, short of Glissa." The vampire stepped forward, towards Kotaru. Wanting her here or not, he was nothing if not classy when it came to his own kind. He extended his pale hand, taking hers, and kissing the back of it lightly. "What brings you here, dear" He said the last word with a hint of sarcasm, "sister?"
PostPosted: Tue May 05, 2009 7:16 am

Austin, unsure exactly what to make of things in the immediate moment Kotaru made her presence known, simply slid one foot back, pulling not more than a foot of distance in this motion. He had one hand in his pocket, but not gripped around any weapons; no, Austin had his hands around his Zippo lighter. If this woman, whom Yuki called 'sister', should become any more hostile than just slinging the word dirt around loosely, then he would be ready for her.
However, this isn't to say that Austin simply sat by and let such a remark go. Oh, no, he couldn't; not an affront to his heritage.
"I'm afraid you've got that last part wrong, sunshine; I'm pretty far from local. I'm just popping through."
Austin said it in a light, corrective voice, as if he were her superior in any aspect of the word and needed not become violent to prove it.
But, having nothing more he wanted to say to Kotaru, Austin used his free hand to pull a cigarette from his pocket, and with the flick of a Bic lighter he had with him, lit it. Nevermind the zippo; If she were to see him remove it she would list it with everything else he had immediately at hand.

His soft purple eyes brushed over the courtyard, searching for those that would desire his destruction. After a good ten to fifteen minutes of surveying, Malachai stepped from the shadows into the blazing sunshine. He strolled over to the fountain and took a seat on the grassy lawn, leaning up against the fountain in a relaxed position. And so he waited. And waited. The day passed on as his patience held him fast there against the courtyard center. 'Jayme.'
