Still wouldn't know, but I am a fan of every last Inquisitor-related novel I have read. It's those books that inspired me to make a Daemonhunter army, and there are a few Grey Knights in it just to make sure I don't get steam rolled too quickly if/when I ever field them. I think the best novle they've done is one about a Commisar, but I can't remember what it was titled. He was a coward who just kept getting lucky and kept getting promoted. Poor guy.

It wasn't an Eisenhorn, Ultramarine, Chaos, or Ghost novel. The Commissar was from a Hive, was really fun to read about, and the novel dealt with a Genestealer Cult... though I don't remember if that is a spoiler or not. Sorry.

Well, it was not Deathwatch then. The only ones there are for the Black Templars and A Callidus Assassin. That deal with Genestealers that is.

http://www.blacklibrary.com/bookdetail.asp?id=257There's the book. Commissar Cain, the impossible commander. He'll never exist in the actual game mechanics because he cannot exist. He is a standard Commissar. No plasma pistols, no power swords, just a standard run of the mill Commissar. And he's absolutely fantastic. Apparently has a sequal too, I should check that out....

shinyman75 I play Daemon Hunters and the reason is the grey knights r awsome the speaicl rules r awsome (read them) and the reason I only occasionally use a few of them as allies is the fact they're friggin' expensive. you pay 25 points per dude with a storm bolter, and 50 points for a dude with a power weapon. As a marine, I pay 15 points a basic bod, 30 points for a veteran, plus whatever wargear I choose. You can't change your justicar's weapons. says so in your rules. Plus due to my chapyer trats, i can pay 25 points to upgrade that veteran to an apothecary. That really does make basic marines better than grey knights.

Why would you want to change a justicars weapon? You can change a Justicars wargear though, and If used right is mostly well worth it...I do agree that sometimes a grey knight being only able to wield storm bolters is annoying, but thats what thier allied units are for...I've had plenty of battles with space marines and so far its pretty even. ((heh, and the guy up there with the nightbringer must be a very lucky man.)

Amatharos Hehe, YES XD I love my Grey Knight terminators Though I should probably start playing around with some Inquisitor combinations again. Granted the reason I've come to Inquisitor's having a bad name was because the last few fows saw the Inquisitor alone and smooshed him easily within the first few turns. My friend's Daemon Prince came swooping in by the second turn and engaged in close combat with my Inquisitor. My Inquisitor failed his psychic check for hammerhand, then the Daemon Prince instantly crushed him (hooray toughness 3 stare ) and my retinue couldn't touch him, then they ran away like scared little children. Second time I used one aother of my friend's swooped in with his death company by second turn, engaged in close combat, and crushed my Inquisitor easily. This was during my first couple of games so I probably should try different approaches to the Inquisitor. Maybe make him join a squad of GK's (normal, not terms) or something. I just dislike the whole "I'm awesome! I fight awesome in cc... with a toughness and strength of 3 =D" ... Yeah, sure, you keep telling yourself that Inquisitor. However the lone Inquisitor and his retinue hype by GW is still an overhype. Alone in combat they suck against practically anything they're said to be able to fight greatly. Well, the only thing I really love about inquisitors is the fact that (in the armoury section of the codex) it says that an inquisitor doesn't follow the normal visual rules when equiping wargear...it can be assumed that his retuine carries it xd for some reason even after they die. The only things that I think they really blow out of proportion is the the greater daemons...I honestly don't see an Inquisitor beating a greater daemon...except maybe the great unclean one...no...but you could beat a daemon prince in close combat with an inquisitor, but you'd have to pay for the pricey daemonhammer, and give up your only sacred incense for the entire army to him the way I see it. confused

DarkElf27 Yahiko_Meoshine Cagalli Yura Attha but you can't really muffle the sound of a Heavy Bolter, can you? This is true but it wouldn't be cost effective if you look at it like a real life army. Why arm your scouts with huge expensive guns when they aren't going to use them all too much? I heard this somewhere, but i forget where "I'd rather have one and not need it, than need one and not have it" okay.. I know this is an old quote from the thread, but I have to answer this since it's from one of my favorite movies... It's from Aliens vs Predator.
BTW, thanks for the invite in the guild.

((heh, and the guy up there with the nightbringer must be a very lucky man.) because a justicar ONLY has a power weapon and a storm bolter in game terms. I can give my veteran artificer armor, a lightning claw, and a combi-plasma gun if I so wish. I can give the guy anything, as it goes... except a bike or jump pack, because of movement locomotors.
