TrapMaster I'm sorry but your gonna have to remove my character from this campaign... sweatdrop I've come up with a bunch of stuff to do, split between another rp, driving tests, and a DnD campaign that I'm building from scratch (for monetary reasons, and not choice crying ) crying Sorry to hear it TM... I have been amazingly busy lately too... sorry about the lapse in my games. Girl Scout day-camp will end on Friday, giving me back some spare time. I spent today with umpteen 6-10 year olds at the Wilderness Park Zoo in Frankenmuth... yay stare I think we'll just keep going instead of trying to add another player.

I'll probably post this in other thread later on, but I have a question. If I call an attack on someone's arms, the arms are considered small or medium sized? Is it possible to sever it? Finally if I cut off a wizard's arm what is the arcane check penalty?

well, it wouldn't affect things with only a verbal or material component, unless the material component was big and would normally need two hands to hold. As for any check penalties, I have no clue. But I can guarantee you there would be lots of rules involved in severing a limb. First there's the fact that it's a called shot. I'm not sure the exact rules, but I'm sure there's penalties to strike. Then, you'd have to actually do it with enough umm...strength or whatever to sever it. It would probably work something like sundering, but I don't know for sure. It would certainly be complicated though.

There are no such things as called shots in D&D 3.5. Anything like them would be totally up to the DM. I forbid them, otherwise combat boils down to "I try to hit him in the head" every round. I like to think that critical hits can be seen as called shots, and so can sneak attacks and power attack.

Power shots, not so much. It's basically just putting all your power into your attack, at the cost of accuracy. Critical hits and sneak attacks though, yeah. It depends on the situation, I think a slight form of called shots would add to fun, like if you're in a bar or something, and you try to throw a dagger into someone's hand to umm...slow them down, or something to that affect. But only a limited amount, because of exactly why you said. I do think that allowing the severing of limbs might be going overboard, it seems it would make things more complicated than they need to be. And who wouldn't try to sever the arms of...well, most classes really.
