"My dying mother tends to put a damper on chipper days. I remove myself to make sure he doesn't suffer any more," it was spoken coldly. Amikai amused him, and intrigued him. Plus he was older, more than likely battle seasoned. An idea formed in the pale haka's head, and he began to think it all over.
"But he'll die soon enough, and frankly, it couldn't be soon enough. I am out shopping for something to ease my temper..." And what a temper the haka had. When he got mad, things flew and broke, no one in the household could out scream the tiny being. Just a horrid blizzard from the normal calm, cold snow.
Thirty-four wasn't that old.
And Amikai had rather nice wings, the streaks made him stand out in the crowd. A small smirk played on Shinrei's lips.

Amikai bowed his head slightly, dark eyes darting briefly away at the mention of death -- as if not entirely sure what to say about the matter. He might have offered condolensces, but it was rather clear that the haka wasn't exactly worried or saddenned by the prospect of his mother's passing. So he remained silent over the matter, continuing to move on in Shinre's wake.
"I'm sure you'll fine something of interest here," Amikai offered after a few moments, gaze raising back to the surrounding shops. There was, indeed, something for everyone smattered along the length of the main road. Ceramics, literature, clothing, food, art. Amikai had to admit he didn't know how there were so many different sorts; he hadn't been consciously aware of the fact of how many trades there were until he'd spent a long time wandering the street.

"Yes well, not many things amuse me or peek my interest," the cold eyes glanced at the shops before stopping to view the wares at a said cermaics store. Well, it wasn't half bad, but mother had imported much better. The tiny feet moved as he shrugged off the store, completely forgetting about it as if it didn't exisit.
Instead, he stopped at an art stall, eyeing a few different paintings. These just might look good in his room with a few others that he had. Hand shot out, palm up, and no words were spoken. But the drone on his right, got out a money pouch and handed over as if he needed no orders. Tiny fingers opened the draw strings, and the money needed was taken out.
Soon enough, both the money pouch and two paintings were being carried by the drones once again.
"Tell me, what do you do to have fun?"

Amikai remained carefully silent and observant and the haka went about his business, lips pursed into a thin line as the two paintings were taken down from their displays, wrapped carefully in the thick paper to protect against the elements, bought and paid for.
"Sleep," he answered, tone lilting and truly amused for the first time since meeting the younger male. Clearly Amikai's sense of humor lay in subtle sarcasm. Despite himself, he smiled faintly as he trailed along behind Shinrei but a step ahead of his two accompanying gehaka.
Life for Amikai consisted of mostly working and sleeping; anything to keep him from loosing his footing on the narrow ledge of his economic stability. He'd grown rather used to the schedule though, so it wasn't exactly a bad thing in his opinion. So he wasn't living in luxury, but it was living.

Shinrei almost chuckled himself. Sleep? A pass time he did normaly on hot days like this, but once again his temper had gotten the better of him. He kept walking, eyeing different stores as they went around, but none really interested him.
Instead, she stopped at a sweet stand, and held out his hand once again. The pouch was placed in his hand, once again with out a word. He quickly bought two pieces of mochi ice cream, both strawberry, and held one out to Amikai. The haka had sweet tooth, and for some odd reason expected everyone else to as well.

Amikai blinked slightly at the offered sweet. He took it somewhat awkwardly in both hands, at a momentary loss as to what to do with it or himself. "Thank you," he murmured, ducking his head slightly and turning the ice cream over in both his hands before setting to nibbling at the little rice dough and ice cream creation. The sweet tang of the confection bit at his taste buds with a sort of familiarity that made his stomach twist pleasurably.
Shinrei wasn't the only one with a sweet tooth.
As if intent on making it last as long as humanely possible, Amikai nibbled only lightly at the treat. He couldn't help but feel slightly like a dog given a pat on the head for being entertaining, but... -- well, he wasn't going to complain.

"You're welcome," well, the gehaka had some manners, and was entertaining. The pale haka ate his sweet slowly, but didn't nibble. He loved mochi ice cream, strawberry being his favorite.
When he was done, Shinrei licked off his fingers, then held out his hand. A cloth was placed there to wipe away any stickiness he had on his fingers from the sweet. When he was done, this was also held out to Amikai to use if he wished.
"I do believe I am done shopping for the day." It always ended with a sweet. No matter what his mood, mochi ice cream lifted Shinrei's spirits," We will meet again, Muruyama Amikai." The gehaka had been entertaining, but not just bold enough to slap a bracer on his wrist quiet yet. Maybe after another meeting. A smirk twisted on the cold lips.

Polishing off the last of the sweet, he gratefully took the offered cloth and wiped his fingers clean. When he was finished, he carefully folded it stickiness inside and handed the square back to the gehaka who had offered it in the first place, nodding briefly in thanks when it was taken. There was mutual understanding there; respect. Just as two fishermen can recognize the faults and strengths of one another, it was the same between gehaka. Or most of them anyway. Amikai supposed there were always exceptions.
He shifted backward a step, bowing slightly at the evident dismissal. "A pleasure; I look forward to meeting again," he said simply, eyes trained on his own two feet for a few moments before he straightened himself. "I wish you good fortune in the mean time."

A slight tilt of the head. Not even much of a bow, but it was what Shinrei gave the gehaka in return for his words. Then he turned on his heel, dronese begining to follow him home. The piece of cloth was given back to one of them, who would wash it some time later.
Well, Shinrei would enjoy meeting that gehaka once more. He was amusing. Very amusing.

Zurin fought down a laugh but could not resist letting an indulgent smile grace his face. The gehaka's simple compliment was charming in it's lack of guile, a refreshing change from the subtle innuendo and flattery that hanze society was rife with.
He leaned a little heavily on the Bharu's arm, pleased by the ridiculous compliment even as he was amused by it. Few had found his freakishly pale colouring to be beautiful, and the honest praise spoke straight to his insecurities.
"I'm no god, though I have been known to smite the unwary." He grinned toothily. "But your family isn't doing too badly in the beauty area either, so I have no reason to smite such a charming son of Bharu."
This was a shameless flirtation, Zurin couldn't see well enough without his lenses to be entirely sure of the gehaka's appearence. But he could tell that his skin tone was pleasing and he seemed to be free of deformities, that was more than enough for Zurin.

Finally getting the rhythm of the Haka's footsteps, Agnija turned his attention to the skyline and the few couples that strolled to and fro. With a mind of their own, his grey eyes followed one such Gehaka that passed beside him until his figure disappeared into Zurin where thankfully the Haka began to talk and hopefully helped to negate the odd feeling of being watched.
The grey boy grinned just as broad, tapping the light parasol on his shoulder again, "Well I believe it's more luck than charm," Though that wasn't saying much for his luck had lately fallen passed zero and into a negative value.
His content expression was disrupted by a quiet frown. He had forgotten about his family. He wondered if his mother would believe the reason of his improper punctuality. His speckled ears sank against his skull. Probably not.

Jiro strolled through the town square, head held aloft, his back straightened with the poise of one who knows that he is attractive and single and wants everyone available to know it as well. He stopped here and there to glance in at the shops, making sure not to meet up with the family of the Haka who had, until recently, been his fiance; but that had been the Haka's fault, hadn't it?
Jiro bought an apple from a nearby fruit stand and stood in the exact middle of the square so that he could see all who passed by; The narcissistic Gehaka smirked every once in a while as he saw a passing Haka, not nearly as beautiful as he thought himself.
He hoped it wouldn't be another day of unfruitful ventures, that, perhaps, he would find a Haka worth conversing and spending his valuable time with now that he had fled his mother's boat-carving workshop. He couldn't abide the sound of all the men sweating and cursing at him any longer. As his mother's favorite, he was loath to work any more than he had to.

A soft swish delicately punctured the humid air of the town streets--a parasol, spreading itself wide as though showing everyone just how majestic it could be. Small wooden sandals, finely crafted, were expertly set upon the well-paved cobblestones, carrying the wearer with a smooth, dignified grace. Head held high, the pale, delicate skin of the Haka's neck was shaded by the parasol, colored with a soft array of pastel blues. Cold eyes stared directly ahead, occasionally sweeping to the side to offer a chilling look of disdain at nearby shops and Gehaka. He had no husband--precisely the reason he was out and about today. His mother had insisted that he finely settle down--something that Ume Arisu did not appreciate at all. He wanted things to be done on his terms and no one else's...but alas, his mother did remind him that if he found a husband, Arisu would finally be free from his persistent nagging.
As he passed by the rather small fruit stand, Arisu paused in his stride, tilting the parasol back a little so he could openly allow his eyes to run up and down the rather handsome Gehaka. His own, raven-black hair caught in the pale light that managed to reach him, shimmering with good health. One ridiculously small hand swept downward, straightening the fine kimono that he had adorned--the bright yellow koi embroidered upon it seemed to wiggle in delight from the attention.
Arisu said not a word, merely observing this Gehaka. Arrogance seemed to drip off the green-haired creature, as though he was better than anyone else. Shoulders straightening, the Haka finally looked him square in the eye, his chin tilting upward as he quietly reminded the Gehaka that he was not at the top of this society.
"What is your name?"
His voice was quiet, almost alluring, but not without a sting of warning within it. Arisu knew he had power and would not be afraid to use it if things did not go his way. Was he interested in this Gehaka? Perhaps--if he showed some character, the Haka might be inclined to snap him up.

Jiro was so lost in thought, examining the other Hanze around him that he didn't notice Arisu coming toward him with a proud and almost angry air. When he heard the Haka's wooden sandals against the cobblestones, he turned and looked the Haka directly in the eye; an act which few Gehaka often did because they were considered lower than the feminine half of the species. Perhaps the Haka would find his lack of fear pleasing? Perhaps not, Jiro barely cared... he smirked and addressed the Haka, "I see the day greets you well, great one, that you have taken such an interest in so lowly a creature as I." ((He's so full of it...))
"My name is Jiro Tsukiko, my Lord," he replied tilting downward into a low bow, his wings spreading parallel to the ground as he did so. His voice was like velvet: soft and silken, but at the same time a bit rough when rubbed the wrong way. He rose again, his eyes wandering back to the Haka's as he murmured, "May I have the pleasure of knowing the name of such a great beauty as yourself..."
Jiro did find Arisu attractive, moreso anyway than the Haka he had seen all day. And he was definity taking an interest to the pride and control the Haka seemed to crave as the creature strode toward him. He was not at all afraid of the repercussions of his actions, his attitude, his past. The Haka had no background of his character, therefore no basis upon which to build that he was a narcissistic creature if there ever were one. He awaited Arisu's answer quietly, letting his air of confidence drop so that he wouldn't seem so high to others.

Zurin's pale brows knitted as he noticed first the gehaka's wandering eyes and then the flattening of grey ears. Putting two and two together (and coming up with five) Zurin realized that the gehaka was uncomfortable. Because of him.
All his life Zurin had been singled out as an object of curiousity, something for his mother's friends to titter over and for gehaka to avert their eyes from. Whispers and stares had been his childhood companions, making him intimately aware of just how different his affliction made him. He wasn't at all surprised that the blue haired gehaka was embarrassed to be escorting him.
Not surprised, only disappointed. Sighing, he disentangled his arm from Agnija's. His voice was stiff with formality when he turned to address the gehaka directly.
"I'm afraid this is where we must part, Wakahisa house is down this way and I'm sure no farmer in their right mind would plant near those barren lands. I thank your mother for your service to me, and I apologize if my association with you has brought any disgrace to your family."
