"Sorry Risa, we're leaving you behind!" Jeong-jae called behind him, chasing after Alec's tail. He needed to hurry and catch up to that rascal of a redhead! Narrowing his eyes, the twin fell into the motions he'd been taught and cleared the next hurdle respectably well. It must've been thanks to Ervette's ability as a teacher (despite her demonstration) that was helping him show off like this!
((Let's see if we can't finish this race soon! I'll try to post quick until we finish!))
(( Alec is heading into hurdle 7 I just double checked ))
"I dunno, you three best keep up!" He called out as he urged his mare forward. Just like most of his attempts thus far he was able to make the jump with relative ease. He had good balance and posture, while he made no living off proffesional horse riding the amount of practice he'd given the activity seemed to be paying off.
He beamed at the twins, and Larisa alike. They all three seemed like good people, Alec would have to get to know the trio better outside an activity like this one.
feel free to do a couple catch up if you want? although we are all almost on the same pace roughly it seems now.
Coaxing Scout into a faster speed now that their near miss was behind them, Larisa turned them towards the sixth hurdle. There was no hesitation in this jump, not even a hint of a possibility of it, and they soared over with as near a perfect jump as they were capable of. Already closing the distance that Jeong-jae had gained on her, she laughed. "Don't be so sure of that!"

"Oh you're asking for it!" Alec's playful spurring got Hwan pumped up and he urged Vivi forward to the next hurdle excitedly. He was definitely far behind in the race but he appeared to have a good intuition regarding horses and he steadied himself as they stuck the landing. Larisa's blonde pigtailed flapped behind her as she caught up with his brother and he felt eager to do so as well.
"You're pretty good at this, Red!" He raised his voice slightly to call out to Alec, who he didn't know very well yet. But the guy seemed fun and maybe after class sometime the group of them could hang out and swap horse tips (along with goofing off).

"Oh s**t!" Jeong-jae had over estimated his leap and Toby barely made it over the hurdle this time. Nervous as the hurdle swayed in their wake, he willed it to stay upright and after a moment of suspense it did. Hoping the others wouldn't notice, he prodded Toby to continue on to the next target while trying to hurry along and win the race! Larisa was right at his heels and Alec's bright red calling to him like a bull's fury.

"Whoa, girl!" That last jump had been a little unsteady and he felt his heart pound as they completed it. Vivi had managed to get over the hurdle but it had been a rocky jump and he didn't like how close that had been. But it still counted as a success at least! He hoped he was impressing Ervette. He looked over to the green haired teacher and waved, wanting to get on her good side. Hwan was a bit of a troublemaker and he felt it would be good to have a teacher on his side, especially one that seemed to enjoy a bit of fun herself! It was nice that she was in the ring with them, on a horse of her own mingling with the students.
Here was her chance! Already at Jeong-jae's heels, his near miss was just enough for her to catch up even further. Another perfect jump over the seventh and they were neck and neck, running for the eight hurdle with all speed. She glanced over at him, grinning. "Got you now!" Then she turned to look ahead to Alec. Not far now! "We're coming for you next, Alec! Come on, Scout!"

"C'mon, Vivi, move." Progress had been good for a while but the next hurdle caused his horse to pause. Hwan didn't know what he was doing wrong! He'd tried everything he'd been taught in the lecture so why wasn't he king of the horses yet? It would take a lot more time and training for him to achieve the expertise he thought he had and he sulked as he patted Vivi's head.
"We'll get it next time." Brown eyes watched as his rivals continued on ahead and he pondered what to do to them once this was over. If he couldn't win the race, he'd just have to prank them by slipping salt into their drinks at the mess hall or something to get even.

"Phew, that's more like it." He'd attempted the prior hurdle one more time with a few modifications now that he knew what had gone wrong. Hwan and Vivi soared over it and landed triumphantly on the other side. Just four more of these to go! He wasn't quite caught up with Larisa and the others yet but he was getting closer and he pointed two fingers at his eyes and back to them teasingly.
Another success on hurdle eight! Larisa never would have expected she'd do so well on this course after what had happened before. Evidently Ervette's pep talks really did wonders! She'd have to thank the instructor again later for giving such good advice, and maybe ask about how often she'd be allowed to get more practice like this in. It was a lot more fun than she'd expected! The best part of all was that she was starting to pull ahead of Jeong-jae! Even Alec didn't seem so far away now. "Only one left! Think you can make it?"
She heard Hwan-jae's voice call out from behind and laughed again, just remembering her earlier decision not to look back. "Good luck catching us now!"

"Ugh, why?" He'd failed another hurdle and looked pretty glum. Hwan didn't understand why Vivi had moved the way she had and almost fell from her back from a shift of momentum. Holding onto the saddle for stability, he managed to keep from sliding off but the embarrassment remained even if injury did not follow. The others were reaching the final stretch and dammit, he was going to get up there with them!
Alec hadn't been pushing himself very hard the last couple turns, he'd wanted to let those who had decided to join him catch up just a little..perhaps in the spirit of competition and not wanting to leave them in the dust. The goal wasn't exactly to clear every hurdle he'd decided, it was in their all having a chance. He jumped his 8th hurdle. Hearing the familiar nickname Red from Hwan the teen laughed. "No fair, I haven't thought of a nickname for you or your brother!"The trainee pouted, even if he was the furthest thing from angry.
"I've ridden before on a number of occasions!" He shot back in explanation..perhaps because he'd looked back at the last moment his 8th hurdle was not cleared. One last one was ahead, and he was determined to finish his first run up. Laughing at his misfortune for surely the twins, and Larisa had seen his misstep. It had been glaringly obvious he meant to do better than that and now looked about as red as his hair.
The last hurdle was up next, and with a sense of determined urgency off they went in their dramatic would be match up. Hearing Larisia's call he swallowed nervously. She was awful close, she might even pass him for all he'd been slow and taking his time.

"Almost there!" Jeong-jae shouted, as the group closed in on the last two hurdles. Blood pumped through him like a motor and he could almost taste his victory. Seeing Alec stumble a bit only spurred him on more, now that he felt like they'd caught up. Narrowing his eyes on his goal, the boy nudged Toby to jump the eighth hurdle and shut everything else out. Voices called around him but nothing was going to distract him from the prize up ahead!
Larisa urged Scout on, heart beating fast with anticipation as she her two opponents came closer and closer to their final obstacle. Would she make it? Would they? Who would go over first? She couldn't believe she'd made it all the way through the course so far without any real mistakes, and she hoped that luck held out because they were just about to....jump! As she flew over the hurdle, she caught a glimpse of Jeong-jae suddenly falling back, and with a gasp realized what that meant for her chances. Scout's hooves hit the ground and her rider swiveled in her saddle as they came to a stop to check Alec's position as well.

"A nickname for us? You can call us, the dual dragon emperors!" He passed over another hurdle and looked incredibly proud of his progress. Nobody really called them emperors but Hwan loved to boast and mess around. Alec mentioned that he'd run the course before and the rowdy raven haired boy decided maybe that wasn't a bad idea. He'd have to try coming back around here. Maybe he'd even catch sight of a horse smoocher or two.
"Really, have you now?" As soon as he'd thought those things, the redhead suffered a misstep and he let out a teasing jab at Alec's expense. The other boy was doing pretty well for the most part but laughing over their shared mistakes was another sort of fun and it helped to ease the tension they normally felt during their other classes. There wasn't much time to chat when Santos was hollering at them to run faster or do more sit ups.
