Oh how cute. Another one to join Comfit in decimating his supplies and extraits. Wonderful. Even more broken glass to clean up. And this one comes with mushrooms. Sigh, ever the collector of his merry band of misfits, McSweeney begrudgingly trudged on with the wayward furry thing in tow.

Trinian wrinkled his nose in distaste. Fox Urine! It would be no surprise if Trinian stumbled upon a hurt bird when foxes were around. It was a known fact that the sneaky creatures preyed on birds, even birds of prey. With a huff Trini continued on his way. He suspected that if he found the source first he could help eliminate the number of deaths in the forest... Teari followed his chosen obediently. Eyes scanning the forest around them.

Either due to luck or your own tracking skills you discover a fine hair caught low to the ground on a branch, almost invisible against the mottled loam of the forest floor. This is good evidence of an animal's trail.

You pause for a moment to get your bearings and cannot resist taking in the breathtaking beauty of the autumnal wood. Even with the weather overcast the vivid scarlets and yellows of the foliage are as rich as dyed velvet against the gray sky and the black trunks of the trees. Gazing into the infinite reaches of the forest is like looking into stained glass…
When you turn back around an enormous fox with a luxurious pelt is standing directly in your path, watching you. Its eyes seem amused, somehow. It quickly dashes off into the undergrowth before you can react — but at least now you have a pretty good idea of where you should be heading.
You win four points this turn.

You disturb some leaves, and beneath them you find a perfect fox print pressed into the damp mud. Was the fox trying to hide its tracks? Regardless, this is excellent evidence of a trail.

Quote: You turn a corner to find a man standing with his back to you on the path you're walking or riding. He's wearing an expensive-looking dark blue jacket, his hair is auburn and a touch curly, and when he turns around there's a single spot of blood on his spotless but slightly rumpled cravat. His eyes are an unnatural shade of purple. If you have ever met him before you will recognize him as the spirit named Llyr. "Good evening," he says to you politely, and then points toward a copse of yellow ashes in the distance. "You may find that direction somewhat more fruitful." When you look back, he is gone. The man standing in the path seemed dapper, but there was an air about him that spooked Silje. She stopped, refusing to move any closer. When the man turned to speak, his purple eyes seemed to see right through him.
Sebastian tipped his hat in thanks and motioned for Silje to come as he went in the direction of the yellow ashes. He looked back once more, but the man was gone.
How odd, he thought to himself.

A hush has fallen over the forest, it's only sounds the soft swaying of leaves in the winter-is-coming breeze. The frizzy haired female closes her eyes, takes in a deep breath as she herself sways with the wind; enjoys the sun's rays that soak warmly into her face.
When there's a loud cry, an animal's dying cry, she opens her eyes; seemingly unfazed by such a gut-wrenching sound. For it was a sound that could only mean one thing; a predator was nearby. Most likely a fox.
Quickly, she heads in the direction of the sound; hands holding her bow, eyes alert.

The mist started up again, quickly followed by the stag, and that wild rose. Stephen frowned, staring down at it. Was he walking in circles? Heaving a heavy sigh, he glanced around, and chose a direction he assumed he had not yet traveled down.

Elsbeth is disappointed to have fallen for such a trick, as is Kugrah. The two of them had started off so well, and now they are forced to backtrack to make up for lost time.
Ah well. It's still early. Hopefully their next try will be more fruitful...

Ah, well... that was not quite the same as he had thought he was following. Still, perhaps the rabbit had been running from something? Morai wandered ahead and Gabriel followed, looking for further signs of animal tracks.

Here was, strangely, exactly what Lucterius had been searching for. Well, perhaps it was not strange: fortunate, then. The twig had been freshly broken, clear indication that something had passed trough in a hurry. He stopped, and nodded to it. It took a bit before Gareth realized, and he watched the boy turn and look down. The widening of his irises was nearly comical.
Onwards it was.

The print was a sign that he was at least going in the right direction; where there was prey, there would be predators. Theron absently patted Stormstruck's flank, and they changed direction to follow the prints, weaving through the tree trunks in nearly eerie silence.

Although the rabbits were certainly something better than old bones and faint tracks, the way they all turned to stare as Thorne and his deer entered the clearing was... unsettling. Although it was tempting to take one along with him the hunter decided against that notion and continued to trudge deeper into the forest.

The earth is damp and in some places unstable. When you are forced by the dense, thorny undergrowth to step near a creek-bed, the ground gives out beneath you and you're dashed painfully against the rocks. It takes you some time to pull yourself upright and sort out your wet and muddy clothing. A salamander watches you the whole time.
You lose three points this turn.

You stop to examine a leafless buckthorn shrub covered in eggplant-colored berries. Some of its lower branches have been bent and broken, but these branches appear to have been dead for a long time, so there's no telling when the event occurred. This is poor evidence of an animal's trail, but it's better than nothing.
You win one point this turn.
