The floors were already shivering under her mere weight, as though ready to give out at any moment. Nevena stood motionless for a moment, her eyes mere slits as she weighed her options. A fall from this height would undoubtedly kill her, imbued with the power of her King or not. Her corpse would be scavenged for the Miasma, undoubtedly, and her thin, needle-like fingers tightened into fists at the thought alone.
That warm touch appeared at her back again, and though Nevena went rigid, she did not start as badly as she had the first time. Should she leave? Or go? As soon as the latter thought passed through her, the warmth vanished instantly.
Instincts were important to obey, and Nevena did not wish to shame herself by taking needless risks. As quick as a flash, she made her way back to the ground floor, taking the precious Miasma she'd gathered and fleeing back to the Shadow Kingdom.

Amarus smiled under her mask when Justice contributed the next line of their speech. Maybe by the end of the tower, they'd get through it all... She focused on making her stature as formidable as possible, in the hopes of dissuading anyone they should pass.
Although she had her weapon readied, she found the Tower itself to be much more trouble than any opponents thus far. On the first floor, falling debris hit her shoulder, slamming into the Shadow. Amarus shrugged the pain out, and continued to rifle through the remains. On the first floor, she felt a passing wave of sadness for the denizens of this fallen kingdom.
It was only a passing feeling: it was replaced with the knowledge that weakness begets failure, and if they fell, they fell for a reason. Whatever that may be.
On the second floor, she passed by relatively unscathed; nothing interesting going on, really. "Zel," she started, "Do you think the tower will collapse around us, if we take too long?" she suggested, half joking, half serious.
It was a possibility, wasn't it? Amarus didn't particularly care to find out. Most of the first five floors weren't terribly awful to her, though she did get hit again by a second piece of falling debris. She felt a hand gently guiding the way, filling with warmth, and even her slight injuries dissipated.

((11-20)) Was it just him or were these stairs getting longer? it clearly had changed in the tower. The glances he took out the window only bothered him more, miasma was still steaming up out of the tower. More debris his him by surprise and he was caught off guard taking a face full. but somehow... he felt like he had a little more power about him.
He found another etch on a stairwell, "Infinity is less than one." what was this? He made a note and continues rolling the numbers over his thoughts, it was better than thinking of other things, and possibly slipping again.

Melvin was at his wit's end, and when he felt something shift behind him as he took a break, he turned around and pushed back. Hitting hard against a crumbling wall, Saliva winced and breathed hard.
"Damnit, Melvin! Calm down!" She said, holding her side as she moved over.
"Saliva! I'm - I thought you were - I'm sorry." He was shaking, holding his sides as he looked back and forth.
Frowning, she moved over and held him a moment. "I know. You're all on eggshells. How about we just sit here a moment and take a little breather? Okay?"
"O...Okay." She said, and they sat a moment. Taking out the bottled water, she handed it Melvin and they started to unwrap the twinkies they brought alone.

Terra turned, horrified that she had unleashed those things, but a hand touched her, tugging her forward and she automatically let it lead, feeling calmer at the touch. Her body felt healed, much better than after the mist thing had hit her--but when she turned to thank her helper, no one was there.

Julian stood on the landing of the 21st floor and considered the room ahead. He had gone so far and gathered much and yet... He had a feeling, he shouldn't go past here. Part of it was probably because Alpha was getting nervous, he trusted her instincts as much as he trusted hers. He hadn't found Alexei... After a few moments of consideration, Julian nodded to himself and patted his wolf's shoulder.
"Come on, Alpha, we should go."

- If your character has a rusted key, they may notice a small crack on top of the broken mirror, a keyhole. Opening it reveals a chest that contains 10 Miasma Points, a hidden chest that cannot be cracked open by normal means until brought back to their kingdom. There is oddly one for each character who has a key....
Terra headed slowly into the observatory, looking at the clues--and then closely at the broken mirror. There was a keyhole, she realized. She dug out her key with trembling hands and unlocked the lock, opening it slowly to reveal the chest. She wanted to open it--but she couldn't. She tried. Instead, she tucked it under her arm and headed for the stairs, intent on taking it back to her kingdom.
The littlest stone lion had pulled it off. She had brought honor to her kingdom!

As he climbed he found a pair of familiar faces. Ones that, he actually was on decent terms with. And they had food.
“Hello again.” Silvia looked a little injured. He plopped down beside them, taking a break.
“Have you seen the writing on the stairs?” he pulled out wine bottle, and offered it to Silvia.
Reaching the top at long last, the feline heaved a large sigh of relief. She didn't want to do that again. Though, knowing this kingdom was bursting with life not long ago was a little depressing, she had other things to think about. Ignoring anyone in the room, she searched high and low for the miasma, coming across some here and there, before finding a small keyhole in the cracked mirror. Pulling her own key found out to view, she tried fitting it in, pleased to find it was a perfect fit. "Huu~ Glad I didn't toss you aside after all~"
Opening the chest, she found her prize--a prize for the white kingdom. pulling out its contents, Kat stuffed them all into the pouch and made for the exit.
She was done here.

Amarus did all of the things and also tried to keep track of Justice in the tower. Lacking caution as she ascended onto the 6th floor, yet another piece of debris smashed into her. She managed to shatter it with the meteor hammer before it connected, but the pieces still rained down on her, stinging.
All the rest of the floors, given how cautious she had been, were fairly easy going. Amarus stuck to the shadows of the ruined tower, occasionally mumbling something to Justice. Just small talk, or a little reassurance.
"Almost there..." she said, through her mask. She said that before the last couple legs of this section, and she might have wanted to save that tiny bit of encouragement for later; a cascade of debris showered down on her.
It didn't hurt so terribly much, but it was enough that she paused for a moment, kneeling on the ground of the shattered tower to catch her breath.

As he watched Amarus travel up the stairs, he lost sight of her for a moment as the debris blocked his view.
"Gah," he growled.
A few pieces of falling Debris smacked him around a bit, however, one of the pieces contained a minute amount of miasma which he was quick to snatch as it fell away. He continued to climb, searching each floor but finding nothing of use or consequence. Once he reached the fifth he looked around for Amarus but he could not find her at all.

Saliva smiled as she saw someone that she wouldn't have to rough up. "Hey, Andrew. No, I didn't see any writing. Too dusty to see much of anything, and I've been looking up more than anything else." She took the offered win and passed over some Twinkies to him.
Taking a sip, she smiled. "Wine? Nice."
"Did you find what you were looking for?"

After making it through that last batch of stairs, Jericho took a moment to catch his breath. The Shadow stared out at the next section. It looked incredibly unstable, and quite frankly, he wasn't sure if he would be able to make it through without falling to his death.
The shadow dragon was a gambling type, but this was not a time where he wished to test his fate.
With the miasma he had in hand, he retreated. He would not go home empty handed.

Higher and higher Kiwi climbed. His steps began to slow, as the footholds became increasingly narrow and occasionally a stray bit of debris would fall, bonking him across the head. Much to his displeasure.
He arrived on the next landing to find yet another mysterious message scrawled into the stone. He stared to the words a moment, considering them carefully before making his way to the next door. Something dark and shadowy seemed to shift and move just beyond the door way. Without hesitation, Kiwi struck his fan out defensively.

When Gargantuan finally hauled his sorry self to the 11th floor, and could only stop and stare at the floor ahead of him with a wary eye. Looked even more ragged than the last few, and that was sayin' somethin'. Ruefully, he looked down at his gut, clamping an uncertain hand over his belly. His weight was not working with him today.
What was he going to do? His Boss needed him alive, not dead, but to back out with such little Miasma...
With a sigh, the big man began to carefully make his way back down to the ground level. If he got out of this alive, he swore to God he was going on a diet.
