It doesn't take just the fires of Mount Doom to destroy the ring. Crix Madine can simply glare at it until it disintegrates, as nothing can withstand the gaze of Awesomeness.

Once Upon a time, Sleeping Beauty fell into a coma, Snow White had food poisoning, the Little Mermaid drowned, Belle was eaten by a monster, and Jasmine became a coconbine in a Saudi Harem. Crix Madine then bedded all of them at the same time, and they later imploded after coming into contact with his sperm.
