Enduring Muse

PostPosted: Sun Jun 03, 2012 12:20 pm

Faysal was fashionably late - why set up early, when he could set up now and allow their guests to see him in motion, executing every plan with flawless grace? The shadhavar approached his empty booth with a swish of his tail, setting down the items he had selected: first, a tablecloth, smoothed perfectly over the surface. Second, a few photographs exhibiting his charisma. Third, some sheet music demonstrating his skill and intimacy with the muse...

When it was complete, Faysal sat down and arranged his hair just so.

There. Perfect.

"Excuse me, I was just wondering if the washroom is this way."

"Hi, can I have one of these? Is this for the event?"

"I really love what you've done with this event so far, it looks amazing!"

"Just so you know, the slime punch is getting kind of low, you should have one of the students look at that."

Dear graduating class: Arel had just turned into the Jack-o-Lantern festival b***h. Noone ever wanted the tables at the very front, which meant that he ended up with a table at the very front of the gate. Add massive piles of seemingly important PARTIES and cleaning bills and one ice demon slaving away, and he had literally turned into some sort of receptionist.

Arel tried his best to yell through the piles of papers that continued to grow like some demented multiplying hex. "Back off! Those are mine - no don't touch those - this is not the reception table, the table is over there." His table wobbled on all legs as people continued to brush past it, shaking most likely useless paperwork everywhere like another Xmas battle gone wrong.

It was going to be a long night.

Snowman yawned as he walked towards his table, oh he needed to set up. He started putting things on his table relative to him including the SCREAM banner. Most of it looked like some sort of Christmas set up. Had he ended up seeing Santa instead of going to the human world?

He had a new brown miced tea with him, "Okay George lets make this booth look good. Got to impress the Boogeymen." He added pictures of himself in different situations. "This is a good one George don't you think it's a good one?"

He placed the picture of him working on fixing... well it was sorta fixing, a black and white skellyvision. "I did a good job fixing that George." He was trying to put around streamers though as he continued, the streamers kept breaking. He frowned, "That's okay they look better this way."

“It’s good to see you again too.” Tarot nodded her head, lips forming a small ‘o.’ “Oh! I see. Soon, huh? I kind of want to see you like this for a little more, though. It’s so rare to see you with your hair down,” she mused as she reached up to pat him on the head.

“Ah, yes, my booth.” She chuckled. Ahhh her brother was so adorable. “It went alright. I managed to receive some cards, so I think I did a decent job. How about you two?”

Kani hadn't brought charms or trinkets. Why? This was lessons here that you took away, not some tacky keychain you add to the keys to your diary. She wasn't about to waste hours making little beaded necklaces to show she meant business, but it seemed that when looking at her booth title and her outfit, the connection of professional a**-kicker wasn't being put across. "Hey, I don't need to wear a stupid tie to do my job!" She shouted after a pair of students who laughed as they passed.

You could still kick someone in the face with heels. Why did everything think you had to be some muscular badass with a no-smile policy? Ugh! This was stupid!

Here was a well-hidden (or maybe not-so-well-hidden) secret about Macthor: when given a task to decorate things, he takes it very seriously.

Apparently.

Truth be told, because Macthor wasn't entirely sure what he wanted to do with his future, the things he had laid out on his booth were rather...random. Handheld game consoles, a few books, bits and pieces of some of his better schoolwork--he had set out things that would give those who walked by a basic idea of what kind of person he was. And as for the booth itself...well.

He had obviously spent a ridiculous amount of time to ensure that everything was perfect. The colors, the designs, the lettering--he had taken care to make sure that not a single thing was out of place, and that everything matched. Perhaps he should pursue the career of an interior designer in the future?

Whatever the case, setting up the booth the easy part. Now he had to sit through talking to random people, which would...probably not go well, knowing him.

"What sort of rumors about my staff?" He frowned at Vel, turning to look at d**k instead when he decided to cut in, "d**k, you wouldn't be able to pay for some of those if you break it,and no, we weren't talking about you. We were talking about-" He paused, "Nevermind."

He frowned at Rengath, and then walked away from everyone, grabbing a box from under his booth before putting each figurine into it; apparently there was a compartment for every figurine on the table, "Not for sale."

YEAH IGNORING THE DIVA.

May frowned. Tex was talking so negatively! "Aww Tex that's not true. Lots of people would! These visitors are just stupid. You know not one of them knew the difference between a Sequoiadendron giganteum and a Juniperus occidentalis? Ridiculous!!"

Yeah she liked nature and didn't care who knew.

She looked at him knowingly and said, "Next time, okay?" Encouragement done, she started walking towards Tarot, the first person she recognized. Whilst walking, she noticed how large Tex's hands were. Gnarled a little bit from all the guitar playing, but they were his and she kind of liked them.

OH UNHOLY s**t WAS HER HAND NOW HOLDING HIS WHAT WAS EVEN GOING ON WHAT WAS SHE DOING RIGHT NOW?!!??!

She tried to play it casually. "Uhh ... let's um ... Tarot. Let's go over near Tarot, yeah?" Then she looked up at Westhor's booth name. Jack.

Making a face at Avery's words, Ava loosed a sigh and pulled her pumpkin like mask from her head. It was too stuffy to keep it on for too long, she needed fresh air! Setting it down on her table, the ghoul folded her arms over her chest and cocked her head to the side.

Avery..he was such a troubled boil. Well..not so much troubled..a handful. Or just a pain in the a**.

"Because that's the whole point of this, Avery. We're supposed to talk to them, so that they may take interest in us, and.." Why was she explaining this to him again? He already knew why!

Wrinkling her nose, the Dryad gave a perplexed look before letting her features soften again at the sound of a friendly voice. "Hello, Victor~" Clasping her hands together, Ava watched with glee as he moved to spruce up the behemoth's table. Vic was such a kind boil! Always looking out for others--even if they didn't appreciate it.

Taking Victor's hands into hers, she allowed him to spin her around a little before stopping again. "Ah, thank you~ I put a lot of effort into it. I hope your booth was a great success as well!"

"Well if it isn't everyone's favorite d**k?" Vel commented as d**k came by. She didn't shrug him off her shoulders this time, as she was too amused with his own commentary in relation to Malcolm. The raptor glanced to Rengath for the moment, but she already had her mini figurine.

"That it's... very nice to the touch. A good firm and strong and solid feel.. And that you really know how to use it," Vel smirked.

"Unlike d**k here."

What people she did manage to bring to her table, lured by colors or her figure, she portrayed the highlights of spending countless hours patiently doing nothing, every on guard of someone jumping out and slicing you to bits. While the parts about doing damage to someone's chest cavity seemed to spark interest, the hours of doing nothing and the mechanics and everyday schedule of a worker for a ward seemed to make others yawn and turn their heads to other, less technical booths. Booths that hopefully had cookies.

At the end of it, she was done selling herself to the masses, and managed a collection of cards. Huh. Not half bad.

After their date had been arranged, or whatever Malcolm thought it was, Quin simply lingered around checking out the other booths nearby. Some of the students had put a lot of thought into their booths, more so than she, but it didn't matter she still had a hand full of business cards to make up for it.

Hearing Malcolm behind her Quin turned to find he had gathered a bit of a crowd. "Minis and toys, eh?" The world was just going to chew up this poor boil and spit him out. "Malcolm I want ya ta take one thing inta consideration when ya be lookin' fer a job. Never be a teacher. I'd be afraid of what the scarelings will...not learn."

"I spose," Tex said, his eyes glued to the "makin' love" sign with a twitch on his lips that was threatening to become an all out laugh. "Unless you see something that interests you more," he said, not budging from where he was just standing there, staring. "Because honestly, I see something that might be... amusing."

Then he blinked down at the hand she'd just taken, only to look away for a second to hide a tiny little smile. She was holding his hand--by choice.

d**k half elbowed Vel in the side. "Are you sure you're not talking about me?" he asked, leaning in uncomfortably close with a grin. After all, what was personal space? "And what makes you think I'd break 'em?" he inquired, shifting his grip on the disgustingly big hammer he was carrying around.

"My whole shindig is my s**t doesn't break." he pointed out, jerking a thumb towards the plant-and-stone fortress he'd made to show off just how awesome he was.

"Not sellin' 'em, huh? Then why are you showin' 'em off. Are you gonna be a minipet figurine dealer?" he inquired. "I mean, people obviously want 'em..." he added, glancing to Rengath.

Murdoch's booth wasn't perfect, but it clearly showed off his personal grades, skills, and achievements over the past few years. However that was all behind a bright display of photos showing various images of him...

Cleaning floors.
Serving drinks.
Carrying bodies.
Shining a demon's shoes.
Acting as a lab specimen for various science clubs.
Wearing a tattered soldier's uniform.

And a number of other menial tasks. The pictures were obviously doctored, just is apathetic face pasted on them. He meant to make a point. That no matter his personal achievements, as a zombie this was where society would try to pigeon-hole him.
