[Tambrey]

"From what I've observed, their image is remarkably self-sustaining," Kratos stated as Tambrey accepted the drink he handed her. "They would have to do much more than forget to provide non-alcoholic beverages in order to damage it in a lasting way." It was probably the longest statement he had made all evening, and it was likely to remain that way if the redhead had any choice in the matter.

He cast his glance over the crowd again, trying to get a mental estimate of how many Rockets were in attendance, along with how many police officers and trainers versus the simple wealthy-and-bored attendees. It was always good to get an estimate - and while he was at it he was at it he might as well take a guess at how many unattended pokémon were wandering around. While this was an observation mission, not a thievery mission, noticing details of that kind was still of importance.

(Seto)

Though Seth huffed, Ty giggled at his resentful-seeming words. "Maybe. I guess, ideally, that's what it takes to survive in the business and political world," she acknowledged. "But he's still not happy. And neither are you."

The wriggling pokeball's jacket caught the child's eye, but she squinted, surprised. That couldn't really be a Master Ball, could it...? Then again, Mr. Kaiba and his company weren't famous for nothing. They were obviously successful, and in business terms that meant wealth.

"Anyway, you're not that much like Roka. You just have a similar situation. At least you can let out your emotions better than he did," she continued thoughtfully. "He had a more...'earthy' personality. He did what he was told, allowing others to walk all over him with a smile if it meant making his parents happy."

"He would play the part of society's puppet to generally avoid conflict and damage to his family name's reputation. You seem more...passionate. Firey. Willing to change and take control of situations." She grinned. "It seems like you shield your emotions with the intimidation of power rather than acting cold and dead with no will of your own."

"Am I right?" Ty asked, as if they were playing a guessing game. "But I guess that's why I'm confused. If you can do whatever you want with your power, fame, and fortune, how come you're subjecting yourself to this life you don't like?"

Sitting down again, she reached for the quivering Master Ball and held it in her hands frowning at it. "Huh? Oh - I was asking why you think yours and Roka's situations are so different. You're different people with different personalities, sure, but isn't the life you're stuck with similar? Like feeling...trapped?"

It was still wiggling. Why wouldn't it stop? It was a good thing it was a Master Ball, but the fact that the pokemon inside could cause it to shake so much was worrisome. "Hey, Mr. Kaiba," she said, turning to face him, "Who's in here?"

(Repede, Yuri)

Looking up at Yuri with wide eyes, the boy shook his head slowly, appearing apologetic. He bowed his upper torso to the taller young man. However, it was obvious he was still keeping his distance from Repede, determined not to be any nearer to the Growlithe. The kid hung back, as if partially hoping to hide himself from Repede's sight by getting behind Yuri.

[Tymiko]

Seth listened quietly to Tymiko's description of Roka, his eyes opening to stare at nothing in particular. There was a snort, however. "Disgusting," was his only comment, although it was a rather half hearted exclamation. He could have little respect for a person like that, but yet.. he was rather pathetic in his own right.

"Yeah, that sounds about right," he then admitted to Tymiko.

He then sighed and frowned deeply. "I don't care about those things, not anymore. That use to be what I wanted, but then my priorities changed, and the subject of those priorities is now gone. Because I'm such a damn fool."

He then lapsed into silence, which probably spoke just as loud as the words he had just given. But his attention was now turned downward to the wiggling ball, and he placed a hand on it. The ball then suddenly stopped its rocking.

"It's nothing."

[Blue Boy]

"Hey, come on. Don't be like that. What's your name, kid?" Yuri said in a friendly tone, still not completely sure what was up with this kid. Repede just huffed and sat himself down, watching intently.

(Kratos)
"True." Tambrey acknowledged as she adjusted her grip on her glass, nestling it in her right hand. /Now/ she felt the part; all dressed up (well, as dressed up as she was ever likely to get) with a glass of champagne held in one hand.
"I just don't see them f'rgetting. I also don't see them taking the risk of givin' the alcohol to the under-aged," This time last year, by some laws, that might have included her. "which I think might be a greater risk without an alternative. This is kind of a weird conversation. I'm sure we can find you something like a juice or a soda, or even water, if you want one." They were supposed to be keeping an eye on the event, mentally writing reports- she doubted that a debate on whether or not the League would be susceptible to forgetting to provide non-alcoholic drinks would really be all /that/ useful to Team Rocket; she certainly doubted she'd be putting it in her report, but supposed it made for some sort of good 'cover'... And she, now, actually was looking out for a non-alcoholic drink for him, she discovered, as she made another glance around.

[Tambrey]

Tambrey appeared to be relaxing a little more now that she had a drink in one hand, Kratos noted. "Hn," he responded to her comment, which could have come across as a disagreement had he not nodded as well. It was fairly unlikely that they would take such a risk, at least here in such a public venue. Idly, he wondered if she was used to alcohol or if it was unusual for her to imbibe.

He glanced around again, rechecking his original mental count of people, but there wasn't much else to observe at the moment that related to any reports that he would complete later. Once things actually got started, it would be a different story. For now, however, there wasn't much work to be done - and that lack of work left Kratos feeling uncomfortable. He hated not being busy with something.

"Water would be fine, thank you," he said, more to keep up the polite party-goer front than because he was actually thirsty. The redheaded rocket secretly hoped that this wouldn't last very much longer. He'd much rather be back at the base training his team or even doing basic grunt work than be here, playing the socialite.

... Why had he come to this gathering, again?

Right. Because attending such things and making good reports would provide him with another step up the proverbial rank-ladder. Staying back and training his team wouldn't show quite the level of dedication as make a thorough report of a boring - or likely to be boring, anyway - gathering.

Ally stopped just short of the dance area with a head tilt. Who didn’t know how to dance? Oh wait…Her cousin can’t dance for s**t too…So maybe this was common with all guys of the blonde hair category? She’d have to test that theory later, for now, it was time to get back to business and observe WHILE asking the man before her just WHAT that little kiss back there could mean. They didn’t have to come up with anything solid tonight, she was still confused, nervous, and strangely, feeling euphoric all at the same time.

It was a strange feeling indeed.

Noticing she was getting distracted again, the small red head sucked in another nervous breath and looked up to Rory. Did he always have nice eyes or was it just her?

“You’ll be fine. Just do as I do okay? I’ll lead this time…”

With that, she began to pull Rory into the dance area, making sure they were in the proper position before moving. At least this wasn’t club music, otherwise she’d be dancing like a harlot, and Arceus forbid should her cousin pop up and see her like that.

He’d die of a heart attack.

(Pokemon Group!)

The Chingling had not expected the Eevee to be so friendly or welcoming, nor to have had a Spinarak on her tail. He paused for a moment, trying to be certain that the white pokemon wasn't coming at him with the intention to attack. It didn't take long to convince him he was among friends.

"Chingling! Ching ching!" he cried happily, waving his stubby arms and hopping up and down as his magical-sounding bell chime nearly drowned him out.

As each pokemon was introduced, Delic gleefully hugged them with his colorful, striped tassels. They were far easier to hug with than his stubby little arms. He was very happy to meet so many new, different, brightly-colored friends and they certainly looked like they knew how to party.

So happy, in fact, that he temporarily forgot to try Izaya's special 'pick-up line' on the lovely Opal. What better time than now to try? "Chiiiing, chingling ling?" he asked her casually, his compliment sincere. He really couldn't tell if she was a 'shiny' or not, but there was just something about her that made her seem so...charismatic. Charming.

And Delic couldn't forget to compliment the gorgeous Mariko and the beautiful Pinkie Pie. They were each pretty ladies in their own right, and he told them he felt very lucky to have met them at this fancy party. "Chingling ching ching! Ching ling ling!"

Since much didn't seem to be going on now, though, he wondered if maybe his new friends would want to help him with something. "Ling ling ching ling?" The psychic pokemon explained that he was a romantic at heart and it hurt him to see couples standing around when they could have been together if they'd just overcome their shyness.

He had seen such a couple on his way over, humans, and had thought it a perfect opportunity to urge them toward the dance floor. He didn't think he could send the message all on his own, though, so would Mariko, Opal, and Pinkie all like to help?

He continued that he'd seen a girl sitting by herself at a table looking lonely, and that he wanted to cheer her up too; maybe also find her a dance partner to join the pair already dancing. If the girls could take care of that couple who were practically already together, he could try to help out the pretty white-haired girl. Did they want to try it? "Ling chingling?" Little did he realize that the young lady sitting alone was none other than Opal's own trainer.

(Repede, Yuri)

Blue eyes narrowing, the child-faced teen seemed about to throw the nearest object he could find at Repede - at least until he heard Yuri's voice. So - these pokemon weren't wild after all. All the more reason for him not to trust them.

The annoyed expression left the boy's face as Yuri's attention was drawn. Immediately he took up the stance and look of a frightened innocent, cringing so that his tail was back against the table. Maybe he could play out his illusion for a little bit longer, but time was running out.

(Seto)

Giggling at Seth's statement, Tymiko shrugged. "That's why I can't stand him," she reiterated.

However, she quieted down when the tall, blue-eyed brunet explained that his priorities had changed. It didn't seem wise to ask about the subject, but she thought she could guess. "It's not your fault," she told him after he fell silent, giving him a sincere look.

"People are horrible. They're shallow, and selfish and - and -" Ty clenched her fists as she began to get herself worked up. "Urgh! They're not worth your time. You'd be better off alone. Especially if you're as much like me as I thought. I try to avoid them whenever I can."

This may not have necessarily been true, especially considering that the girl had come to the event of her own free will as well as dragged another person to join her. However, she didn't seem to notice this contradiction or, if she did, didn't want to acknowledge it. Perhaps she had already forgotten given her short attention span and short-term memory loss.

Or maybe she just didn't count interactions like that because her loneliness and/or curiosity 'drove her' to talk to others and that meant she couldn't help interacting with them. Whatever the case, unlike the Roka she had described, the child didn't seem to follow any particular sense of logic aside from what she felt at a given moment. Right now it was the pride of being an independent travelling trainer.

After her passionate little outburst, though, she looked at the Master Ball that the man had stilled. Her inquisitive gaze flickered back to his face. "If it's nothing, then it wouldn't be shaking, would it?" she replied teasingly with a smirk. "Especially inside a Master Ball. But if you don't want to talk about it, that's okay too."

She stood up. "Do you...want or need to go back to the party? I don't suppose you attended in the first place for your own pleasure."

[Izaya, Faleen]

"It's gotten quite a lot of important people rather upset," Weidman agreed, and had another sip. Izaya's grateful acceptance of the card made him smile, and then his comment made him laugh shortly. "So true! It's hard to imagine a life Pokemon don't touch in some way - ah, but I did interrupt you two, didn't I?" he added, almost making a coy little insinuation. "Enjoy the rest of your evening-" He raised his champagne flute, "-and I look forward to that call. As you were."

[everyone]

As the short brunet turned and moved into the crowd, he took a PDA from his coat pocket and tapped the 'New Text' alert on the screen. The message popped up.

'Having fun yet?'

"Heh," he laughed, casting a glance across the throngs of people. Then, head bent over the display as he tapped out a reply, Weidman maneuvered past clumps of party guests toward the bandstand. As the current song was drawing to a close, he stowed the PDA away again and leapt up to the podium, pulling the microphone free from its stand and giving a little nod to the musicians. "A good evening!" he began as the band rested their instruments for now.

Near the shrubbery, a councillor heaved an exasperated sigh of relief. "Finally."

[Dith]

Another laugh; the redhead inclined her head slightly to give Dith an arch look. "That's a compliment, I think."

//I'm well,// Nadja continued, a weak breeze fluttering the hem of her dress. //Glad to be away from work for an evening.// That wasn't completely true - ever - but it was true enough. Maybe true as you could get. She shifted her weight slightly, setting her shoulders at a more comfortable angle. //You were at the conferences - no, conventions, wasn't it. And the ceremonial costumes..?//

[Faleen, Harvard, Izaya (sort of)]

"Hey," Hayes glanced over, keeping up his relaxed amble as Harvard caught up to him. His cravat was a bit loose now, but he seemed more comfortable now, nearing the refreshments just as Izaya sent a cheery pink Chingling jingling into the crowd. He wasn't focused so much on that, though - rather, once he saw it, the various threads of his attention united on one sight in particular.

Unconcealed by his glasses, it was easy to see his eyes widen slightly at the sight of the poised, graceful form, draped in smooth celadon instead of the puff-shouldered Agent uniform under fluorescent lights. Still Faleen, but the dress and the lantern glow.. did something for her, and the blond shaped silent words with his mouth for a moment while he tried to figure out what. And exhaled.

"Hey."

Wow.

It was an entirely different sound.

[Ally]

As she helped him move into the proper dance position, Rory looked down at her with a timid smile. He hadn't played much attention to their height difference before now. He hadn't really had a reason to before. Her head barely came up to his chest with her heels on.

He noticed her staring at him slightly and started to feel the nerves kick in again. Why was he so nervous? This was his friend, he should be able to relax! So she had just kissed him and drug him off from their small group; was it going to change how they were around each other?

They moved together for a few moments and Rory was just about to speak when he heard someone call out a greeting over the microphone. Deciding to suck it up and ignore the nerves that felt like they were on fire, the blond brought the small hand that was in his own up to his mouth to brush his lips across her knuckles. He winked at her before turning his attention to the man on stage. Maybe he'd actually catch some information to take back to base with him.

[ALL the PKMN!!!!]

When the bell pokemon came over Pinkie reared up happily onto her back hooves for a moment. She came back down and shook her bad back leg before giving the Chingling her own greeting after Opal introduced them. When he used his tassels to hug her, Pinkie used that as an opportunity to lick at the potential new friend.

When he explained to the group his plan, Pinkie grinned happily. "Pooonnnyyy! Taaaaa! Po!" If it would give them a chance to have something to do and make the trainers happy, what could go wrong?

[Blue Boy]

Yuri sighed as the boy continued to cringe and didn't seem all that interested in speaking. "Fine fine, I get it," Yuri said, deciding to leave the kid alone. But then he look towards the table. Oh hey... food. With that, he reached past the kid and took a nearly empty tray of finger foods and filled it up with some more from other platters. This should satisfy the gluttonous little princess. He was a good little slave.

As Yuri gathered the food, a piece happened to fall on the ground right next to the kid with the blue eyes.

He also looked up as someone approached a microphone and began to speak. "Took them long enough," he said while turning to take the tray back towards Ivory.

[Tymiko]

Seth couldn't disagree with her there. He'd met some pretty terrible people in his life who had used and abused him, and turned him into something that wasn't really any better in most senses.

However, he did tilt a brow at the statement of it not being his fault. He had been blamed for many things, and it was odd to hear someone say something to the contrary. Generally it was usually "his fault" because he was too mean, or too emotionally inept, or whatever else. He just snorted.

"I've thought that way most of my life," he confessed. However, there was a part of him that was tired of it. He was tired of being alone, and yet.. when he tried to fix that.. it ended in disaster and he was perhaps worse off than before.

When the girl stood and talked about going to the party, Seth sighed and pushed himself up as well, taking a moment to brush off his pants. "I should," he confirmed, even if he didn't really care to. He hated social gatherings like this, but it was a necessary evil. His headache had become tolerable at this point. He was determined to keep himself composed. While he hadn't expected to see Nadja here, he wouldn't let her presence chase him away. He was better than that.

It was then that he could hear someone over the loudspeakers.

(Kratos)

Tambrey gave a little bob of her head and cast about until, deciding it would simply be easier, she caught the attention of a passing server (if he wasn't, he certainly owned the costume) and requested: "Uh. M' friend was wonderin' if he could have a water, please?" She indicated Kratos, then amended. "We'll just be around here."
Done, she smiled back at the other Rocket.
"There y' go. Saves us havin' a look about." Which meant, to her, they could spend more time actually taking mental notes of things.

Oh! And now something was happening.
Tambrey moved to nudge Kratos (she probably even knew it was going to be unnecessary) and gesture toward the man on the bandstand as he greeted the crowd.
"There ya go; 's happening."

(Aulus)

A light blush crept into her cheeks at his compliments and she smiled softly at him. Her hand fell away from his arm to brush a few stray strands of hair from her face as her hazel eyes focused on anything else but his face for the moment. "Thank you.." She wasn't nervous anymore, but hearing him say such things to her still loosed a group of Butterfree in her stomach. It was a nice feeling.

Oh, but he was looking for her? Her gaze lifted back to his face as she took a step towards him, off the gazebo and down to the grass. She was suddenly a couple inches shorter. "I wasn't hiding, I promise," she teased as her mouth curved into a coy smile, but then giggled at the mention of being mistakenly for security. Really, she didn't expect he was too thrilled about it when it happened, despite referring to it with a bit of levity now. Hazel eyes drifted to his hand as he rubbed at his car, and she smiled again as her hand raised once more. Fingers curled around his arm as she gently tried to pull it down so she could lace her fingers with his. "I'm sure she did - you don't look at all like you're here with security." It looks much more like you're here with me. "Want to go look around instead of keep standing here?" Maybe find a better spot to see who was doing an announcement that had apparently just started - that would probably be important and something to include in her report.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 06, 2012 3:52 pm

[Claire]

He let her pull his hand away from his face without protest, and gave her hand a squeeze when she laced her fingers through his. "Thanks." Whether he did or not didn't matter particularly now because he was with Claire; looking like personal security was somehow different to looking like general muscle-staff.

Maybe he even looked like her date, which would be even better.

"And yes, let's," Aulus smiled and inclined his head slightly in agreement, still holding Claire's hand and not especially inclined to let go of it. "Shall we head over to where they're making that announcement?... Could be interesting stuff, given the reason this party's been put on, right?"

*****

[Nadja]

Dith made a small noise of amusement and shrugged slightly. “Well, I would say it was more a statement of fact. I am glad that you are as well as you look though, and that you could make it.” Now where had that come from? It probably ought to go back there because it seemed dangerously close to flirting, but it had slipped out before he’d thought it through and realised that.

Luckily he had the ever awkward job of carrying on with his explanations to distract him from such matters.

//Anyway.// Dith shifted his stance slightly too, rolling his shoulders and straightening up as he became aware that he had been slouching a little, again. //The costumes are... somewhere between ceremonial, geek mating plumage, and dressing up for fun like overgrown children. It’s a contest of skill too, some really amazing talent and attention to detail goes into the best ones. If you’ve got money you can pay somebody to make you a fantastic costume, but more often than not the person you see wearing it is the person that made it.// Maybe at some point during the evening he would mention his cufflinks. On the other hand maybe he would pretend that just for one even he had totally ditched the geek. Time would tell.

(Repede, Faleen)

As soon as Yuri turned his back to walk away, the kid glared daggers at the man. What that human dense? From the way he sounded, it seemed he thought the kid didn't want to talk to him, but what if he had been human and just mute?

Whatever. At least the man was gone now. People were stupid. The boy smugly concluded that he would probably get his mission accomplished in no time provided no one else tried to interfere. There was still the matter of the Growlithe, but the kid didn't see a reason why the pokemon wouldn't keep his distance.

Crouching down, he sniffed the piece of food that Yuri had dropped before tossing it Repede's way. He didn't have time for food, and maybe he could slow down or distract the tattle-tale fire-type. Getting up, he turned again and looked around.

Ah! Right there! That was the man. He wasn't wearing the same fur that the blue-eyed boy had last seen him in, but the guy's face hadn't changed. No doubt he had his pokeballs on him. Humans rarely let their slaves out of their sight. However, that just made the teen's job all the more easy.

Where would the man most-likely have his pokeballs? They weren't on his belt, so...maybe in his pocket. Shirt pocket? Pant pocket? Left or right? Upon closer inspection, it appeared that the guy was fiddling with a pink Love Ball, minimizing its size and rolling it between his fingers. He seemed distracted as he replaced the pokeball into his right side pant pocket. This would be a piece of cake.

Eyes set on his target, the boy put on his sweetest smile and strode purposefully toward the black-haired man and his blonde-haired date, ignoring the surprised-looking blonde man as he passed him.

(Seto)

Considering the man with a sideways look, the water trainer reflected on his reaction upon seeing someone in the crowds of people. "Most..." she murmured. "That's not 'all'. So why'd you ever think it might ever be different?"

She watched as he stood and brushed himself off. It would be a tough night for him, she expected, especially to go back there. But from the feelings he seemed to exude, she figured he was used to having to bear burdens like this. He could probably make it through this one night.

Tymiko looked up at the sound of speakers. "Oh no! They're starting! We should run!"
