This didn't look too hard. Especially after being caught himself a few times. Aksaja concentrated and then threw his rope toward Demi.

Finally, Aksaja decided to go after a rather colorful student that he'd seen around before but hadn't really talked to much. This was a great way to say hello, right?

Mai's second attempt at the knot-making was only slightly less pathetic. She tried to be more conscious of where her hands were going, and when she gave her final product small pull it did managed to hold. But when she gave it a firmer tug, the rope came completely apart and drooped sadly in her palms.

Mai looked up and tried to find an easy first target. Oh! She spotted Lacie not too far off and smirked mischievously. The little reaper wouldn't know what hit her!

Ok.. how had she seen the horsemen do this part? The ghost took the vine in one hand and swung it around a few times to get the feel its weight. When she felt she was comfortable, she tossed the lasso in Lacie's general direction. To Mai's surprise, it actually landed around the other ghoul's shoulders almost perfectly. With a light laugh, Mai pulled the lasso tight and trotted over to her friend. Not waiting for Lacie to disentangle herself from the vine, Mai wrapped her arms around her shoulders and gave an affectionate hug. "Hello kitten," she purred.

She carefully lifted the rope off the reaper and spent a moment fixing Lacie's hair. When she was sure the other ghoul wasn't any worse for wear, she gave a quick wink and moved off to find another target before she fell to far behind.

This time the ghost made sure her that feet were well placed and that she swung the rope around a few times before letting it fly. Mai was rewarded as she watched her lasso fly surely through the air and land cleanly around Aurian. The wisp pulled the rope and it secured itself around the reaper's mid-section.

"Gotcha," Mai teased as she came up behind Aurian. She gave another ambush hug while her prey was trapped. Oh yes, this rope thing definitely had day to day applications. She would have to remember how she tied this knot. Yes indeed.

Again, the ghost quickly unrestrained her target and (after a quick smooch on the cheek) left to find her final victim.

The sort of "find the classroom" game was endlessly amusing for Thackery. He laughed and gave little knowing smiles every time a bony hand pointed him in the right direction, and was practically dancing as he walked by the time he reached the clearing that was their designated gathering place.

He examined the area in wonder - something he was doing a whole lot of lately - and gave the two clan members his attention only when they asked for his name.

"Thackery! I'm a Cerberus, descen...ded..."

They weren't listening. How could he do his usual introduction when they weren't listening? Oh Jack, it was going to be so terrible for them to not meet him. What an extraordinary loss.

Frowning and sad for them, he mingled quietly with some of the other students, waiting for the two to give them any sort of acknowledgement again.

They began speaking about mounts, about summoning horses or something of the sort. He recalled the trials, riding the wolf that was easily ten times his own natural size, and grinned. Would they get to do that again? The horsewoman's introduction on the matter seemed promising, referencing the trial riding herself. He was all ready to dart off into the wilderness to get another creature to ride when...what were they doing with that rope?

He took a step back as one lassoed the other right off of her mount.

"I have to do that...to other...what." He stared dumbly at the classmates around him, many of whom already seemed to be readying themselves for the task. This wasn't how he intended to make friends, really, but he guessed it would work.

Fumbling with the rope in his hands, it became immediately evident that he had absolutely no idea how to tie any sort of fancy knot. It tangled all in itself and became knotted beyond repair.

He dropped the lump of rope on the ground and kicked it aside, checking to see if anyone noticed that before snatching up a fresh piece.

Though he tried a different approach each time, the results seemed the same. For the most part. He almost trapped himself in the knots this time, just barely freeing his hands before finishing the knot that was supposed to be a slip-knot. It looked more like a bird's nest.

So that's what he turned it into.

He hooked it over a low-hanging branch, securing with a knot that miraculously worked. It seemed that he was able to fasten ropes to other things...just not to the rope itself.
