Lumena: Town Square
Xerxes woke up in a tangled ball of his sheets on the floor as the morning sunlight slanted through the partially opened curtains of his room at the inn. At some point during the night, he rolled off the bed. Groaning as he sat up, he rubbed the back of his head with a groggy feeling still swimming in his head. After a bit of a struggle, he managed to find his way out of his blankets and get to his feet without tripping and falling flat on his face. He wanted to crawl back into his bed and go back to sleep, but a growling from his stomach was enough to change his mind. Food was needed. He pulled on some clothes and yanked on his coat before leaving his room.
If he remembered correctly, there was a bakery nearby that he could pick up some freshly baked bagels from for a breakfast. After that, he didn't have much to do for the rest of the day. He had found a nice black suit last night when shopping with Lea. He would need to make a hole in the pants for his tail, and he was glad that he remembered to bring some sewing supplies. He was always bad at judging the size of the hole needed for his tail. But he had plenty of time to work on that later. It wouldn't take him too long, he suspected.
As he walked through the town square, Xerxes's ear twitched, picking up a whisper here and there about another attack. He chewed on his thumbnail out of nervousness. All the Reapers around, and another person had been attacked? He wondered if going to the ball was a good idea after all. But as long as he was in a group, it should be all right. He hoped. His gaze darted around, scanning the crowd like he might catch a hint of who the Witch Eater attacking all these people were. But his eyes landed on someone familiar, and a smile cracked his face. "Lea!" he called and waved his hand wildly at the other Mononoke.

Kalypso layed in bed staring at the ceiling. She didn't want to get up. She didn't want to leave the comfort and safety of the inn. There was another murder reported. She wanted the cupit caught. She was tried of living in fear. She groaned. She really should get up her and Cedar were suppose to be meet the boys. She turned her head towards the bathroom and used her magic to turn on the hot water for a shower. She got up and went and took a shower. After her shower she went downstairs and went across the street to get a bite to eat. There seemed to be more reapers out and about then there was yesterday. Thankfully the ball was just around the corner. Hopefully they won't cancel it because of all that was happening. Kalypso sighed and looked around the small coffee shop she was in. Anybody could have done those murders. She wasn't sure if the new friends she met yesterday could have done it, she was with them almost all night.
She'll just have to be more cautious when she's out and about and not trust people. She finished her tea and bagel and made her way on back to the inn. She stopped at Cedars door and knocked. It would soon be time to meet up with the boys.

Lumena: Kyu's Bathroom
Ophelia woke up bleary eyed, in a small, dark room. Yawning, she pawed at the walls, flicking on a switch. The fan turned on. woops! She flicked it off again, and chose the switch next to it, turning on the light. Using the sink counter to help her stand up, the reaper looked at herself in the mirror. She was a wreck. Her head ached, her throat sore, her nose was running, and her sinuses were plugged up. All that running around and freaking out yesterday made her sick.
At least they found Phil after all. That was good. And Kyu was kind enough to let her spend the night as well. Also good. Bad was her decision to pass out in the bathroom though. She should have at least tried to keep herself awake long enough to get to a cushioned place. But no. Pee. Sleep. Sighing, she raided the knight's medicine cabinet, and heard voices coming from the other room.
After taking a dose of medicine to get her through the day, she opened the door and her mouth to ask if they wanted something to eat. Ophelia was no cook, but despite being sick, she was willing to go out and grab food for everyone.
But when she opened the door, she simply stood there for a moment, her mouth gaping. Theo and Kyu were kissing. They were kissing. Kissing! Her first thought was one of giddy fan-girling-ness. Boys! Kissing! One of them older too. But it only took her a second for her to regain her senses and retreat back to the bathroom, quietly clicking the door shut. She should let them have their moment.
But wasn't that Phil on the couch, still asleep? That might be an awkward thing to wake up to...Ophelia smirked, thinking about it. But her smile faded, and her brow furrowed. For some reason, her gut twisted and her heart sank a little. She wondered why she felt so unhappy all of a sudden. She should be happy for her friend! After all, finding someone to love might make him a nicer person in the end.
But she guessed a part of her wished it was her on the couch with him...

Lumena, Kyu's home
Kyu was overcome by what was a neigh-inexplicable feeling. It felt alien to what he had known so far but similar to what he thought drawing a deep breath after almost suffocating might feel like, desperately gasping for air. He had starved himself of these feelings for so long that he didn't know how to bring himself to a halt nor if he even wanted to. And for a change, for once in so very long he was being wholesomely something and not just the shade of an echo of himself. He had been selfish for a moment, made his feelings known, allowed his heart to beat... and Theo's lips had been so sweet, his arms so inviting, pulling him close and closer still. And he let himself be had, he had set himself up for it, in the end and he didn't mind anymore as his now free arms wrapped around Theo in an almost desperate embrace, seeking warmth, seeking to be closer, wanting... -God only knew how much he wanted, how much he had ached to be accepted like that, to be caught, reassured that he didn't have to hide anymore-.
He gave up any distant possibilities of resisting fade, slipping out of his grasp when Theo finally hushed him into silence, hands clutching at Theo's clothes just so he could still reassure himself that everything was real, that he was being there and not elsewhere and that it wasn't being a dream and everything felt almost too good not to be. And he was truly happy. In the end he was being sincerely, entirely happy in that moment. He couldn't remember ever feeling that way before; as a matter of fact he couldn't remember even feeling anything with as much intensity before.
And then the door opened -and Kyu knew not by looking, but by the air current that changed its direction slightly, creating a soft tingling sensation one can recognize after spending several years in a certain home. But he was powerless to move from his spot all the same, an invisible force stopping him in his tracks before he could do anything. Since when had he grown as weak? He pulled back just slightly, eyelids parted ever so little; just enough to be able to watch Theo with what could only possibly be pure adoration reflecting on the pure, silvery surfaces. Even if he wanted to stay there, in Theo's arms, for -most likely- ever, would the girl be alright if left on her own? The answer was -most likely, yet again- yes, but it gnawed at him at the back of his mind.
But he couldn't bring himself to break the silence.

Cedar's eyes caught a familiar face that was going right to her. Kalypso, it seemed the other girl had gotten up early, and even got herself something to eat. And it was at that thought, that her stomach suddenly seemed to drop and twist with hunger.
"Kaaalypsooo.." She reached out to her new friend and whined. "I'm so hungry... But I have huge news..." She bent forward, feeling that gnarling feeling. Holding her stomach she remembered that she didn't eat dinner and only had something to drink at the cafe the previous night. If she didn't get to eat soon, she would start to bite peoples heads off. "Where's the nearest food place...?"
Latching onto Kalypso's arm she tugged her to the nearest shop, and got herself something to eat. It took her a few minutes to hunt the place down, but it wasn't that far away. She hurriedly and grumpily paid, and took a big bite of the food, walking back out the door.
She stood with Kalypso in silence as she ate, and she looked over in time to see Mononoke and a Black Heart. She watched them while she ate, and then exclaimed "Oh the murder!" She spun around. "The voices of the trees..." Looking at Kalypso intensely. "I think... We might be in more danger then anyone really knows."
She hoped the boys were okay...

So caught up Lea had been with his own thoughts that he did not realize that Xerxes had been trying to get his attention until his name was called a third time. But that seemed to have done the trick in snapping him out of his reverie as he spotted the other mononoke waving to him and quickly crossed the street to join him. "X... Xerxes." His voice was raspy when he spoke his friend's name. His throat parched from the cold morning air and he swallowed thickly before attempting to speak again.
"Remember that bakery we passed by yesterday?" He rubbed his hands together in an attempt to warm them up some before opening the paper bag he had been holding earlier to gingerly fish out a Halloween cookie that was in the shape of a cat, the fragrant aroma of lightly dusted cinnamon sugar beginning to waft through the air. "Here. Why don't you try some?" He jiggled the bag to mix the cookies some then held it out in offering to the dark-haired boy. It wasn't as if he had forgotten about the murder however. He just didn't know how nor where to start.

Studying this woman as they had stared at one another, the Reaper was fairly sure that she was of the Ars Lilium ranking. Definitely someone similar in power levels to herself. Not like one of the younger ones she'd met before. And rather friendly to someone she barely knew, though her words triggered curiosity in the Reaper. A sensation of feeling like she'd met her before? That was...different. Shaden could definitely claim she'd never heard anyone say that on a first meeting!
Shaden blinked, looking Graveyard over again. "Really? I...do not think we have either. Your face and scent are not familiar to me." Which didn't necessarily mean she hadn't met Graveyard before. Just that it was highly likely she hadn't.
A smile slowly spread along her lips. "Graveyard, is it? And Cruor? Well, it's a pleasure to meet you both. I'm Shaden." She paused, ears twitching and tail curling slightly. "Not...not really, no. I hadn't planned much beyond wandering the streets as I was." The Reaper admitted a little sheepishly. She really didn't have any acquaintances she could call upon to hang with sadly.

Kyu's home, Lumena
He felt delirious, ecstatic and a hundred thousand other emotions he could never hope to identify. It was like a cocktail of emotions and sensations, making him giddy and feeling as if he were drunk. He'd had his share of kisses, but none of them ever felt this way. It was.. different. Exhilarating. And he didn't want it to stop. He knew he was being greedy for wanting so much but he couldn't help it. He couldn't help but want everything Kyu was offering him and more. It was dizzying, that just this one person could make him feel like this. It was uttely terrifying how just a kiss could make him lose control almost completely. He couldn't even think straight. he only really knew he never wanted this to stop, and he wanted more of this.. As much as he could possibly have, as much as Kyu was willing to give him.
All semblance of structured thoughts faded away when Kyu's arms wrapped themselves around him as they drew closer to each other. He had to wonder if this was all real, the way Kyu was responding, the way they both seemed to be clinging to each other in what could be called sheer desperation. He felt shaken to the core, as if nothing would be the same ever again. He broke the kiss, gasping for air. He could have sworn he had hear the door click, but there was no one there. And Theo couldn't bring himself to care, if he were honest. It seemed like an insignificant thing when right now Kyu's eyes were reflecting the feelings in his own heart. Complete, utter surrender to the currents that were dragging them both down. He leaned forward again, pressing his lips against Kyu's, his hands wrapping themselves around Kyu's neck and drawing him closer for yet another kiss.
He just couldn't get enough of this.

Lumena Town Square
Salem, as per usual, looked just fine; a touch crazy, but that was nothing new. In fact, he had found that Salem never really functioned on a normal level, merely shades of craziness. That didn't really bother Orpheus. That kind of crazy was tolerable, if not harmless, to Orpheus. Besides, they were bandmates. To Orpheus, that was a bond stronger than family. He had never had a true family, but he had found a seemingly unbreakable bond in his bandmate. "I look just fine," he retorted, grinning. "Being dirty suits me, doesn't it?" He tugged at his crumpled shirt and readjusted the orange bandanna around his neck.
"How could I forget about you, Salem. The music is in my heart all the time, you know that," he said, being saccharine sweet, his eyes glowing brighter as he joked around. At first, he wasn't even sure if Salem ate sweets, but apparently the cookies were well-received. Orpheus wished he'd thought to eat real breakfast, as he popped a second cookie into his mouth. Or, rather, a head; there were no entire cookies in the bag now, as they had already eaten the couple of nearly-perfect ones. It was all bits and pieces, now.
Despite Salem's attempt to hide his enjoyment of the cookies, naturally Orpheus could read his bandmate a bit by now. "If I thought your fingers would keep moving, I'd give you the bag to hold. But nobody likes street cookies." He paused, looked meaningfully at Salem, and added: "Except for you, maybe." His smile spread into a grin. And as he offered the bag for Salem to take a second cookie, he headed off with him. Orpheus was naturally pretty warm, so it wasn't such a problem, but it was true that it would get chilly fast. He was wearing a black coat over his usual clothing, the coat pinstriped in gold with little white stylized skulls sewn on it in places, ones which matched his usual design.
"Not sure what'll be open at this hour," Orpheus added, looking up at the sky to check the sun's position. "So, you going to the ball or what?" he asked, idly.

He had to call out a few times, but by the third shout, Lea finally seemed to take notice of him. Xerxes waited with a friendly smile as the other Mononoke crossed the street to join him. The cold morning air made him shiver, and he hugged his coat tightly around him, trying to stay warm. "As much as I like this time of the year, I always forget how cold it can get," he confessed, wishing that he had packed some warmer sweaters to wear under his coat. But he didn't expect there to be such chilly mornings yet.
"Yeah!" Xerxes grinned even wider at the mention of the bakery. "I was just on my way-" His gaze caught on the cookie that Lea fished out of his paper bag. His stomach gave a painful twist of hunger before letting out a loud growl. He flushed out of embarrassment and hoped Lea thought his rosy cheeks were simply a result of the cold air. "Thanks." He took the offered cookie, grinning at the shape of it. He nibbled on the head of the cat shaped cookie as he glanced around the town square. "What are your plans for the day?" He didn't feel like bringing up the rumors that he heard in passing about another murder.

”No, Orpheus, it's your HAIR,” Salem said, with a good-natured elbow to his friend's ribs, “I never thought the day would come when you'd let your meticulously-maintained vanity slip, even in the slightest, so I didn't!” The playful volley of words they threw back and forth cheered Salem, for some reason. Maybe it was the sugar from the cookies hitting his head, chasing away the surliness that comes with hunger, making him the slightest bit more agreeable. It occurred to Salem that Orpheus was the first real friend he'd ever had. A dreadfully human affair, friendship, but Salem could see why the humans kept each other around. Something about the companionship felt sublimely correct. He couldn't see himself meeting many like Orpheus, however. Or indulging himself if he ever did. It made him feel vulnerable, exposed, even if he enjoyed the feeling.
“What a sweet set of words, that,” Salem said, around a mouthful of cookie scraps. He didn't even know what KIND of cookies these were, but he was going to stuff his face on them while they were warm. “In your heart, all the time... Very pretty. Ridiculous, but pretty.” Orpheus certainly had a way with words. Salem left the writing of lyrics to the man for just that reason. He focused more on melody, for he knew what his bandmate said was true: Music stays with the listener as it stayed with the musician. A tune had the power to dig in deep and resound. The joy in being the source of that resonance was a secret that Salem held very close to his chest, one that not even Orpheus knew.
At Orpheus' final joke, Salem threw back his head and laughed until a single tear of mirth rolled down his cheek. An ethereal clone of the one rolled from the false eye his magic had created, and they moved in unison, falling at the same rate, becoming one at the point of his chin, dropping through the clear, cold air.
“Street cookies... Oh, you've tickled old Salem, so you have!” He dabbed gently at the corner of his eye with the ball of his thumb, taking care not to poke his OTHER eye out with a claw. He hadn't laughed that hard in at least a month, and Salem was quite given to humor, albeit a bit maniacal at times. When he was sure the laughter was worked well-and-good out of his system, he began walking, Orpheus in tow.
“The ball? Hmmm,” Salem paused for a moment, thinking the question over. “Yes, I suppose I shall! Events as of late have been quite... Interesting.” His voice took on a sudden gravity. “If something is going to happen, I imagine it will be there. A great many fascinating characters are gathering even now, and old Salem would like to see what becomes of things. And you, friend? Surely you'll be there.”

Kyu's home, Lumena
If he were to be true to himself, Kyu was afraid to blink, afraid that tears -thankful, relieved ones, not the kind that felt in any sense sad or forlorn- would rise to his eyes and he didn't want to worry Theo with them even if he was simply that happy. If he were to die there, in that moment, he'd die complete at long last; but that was before he thought that for a second time in such a small span of time he'd rather be selfish than anything. He didn't want to die. He simply wanted more, more of this, as much as Theo was willing to receive and reciprocate. Just to keep kissing... it couldn't be so bad now, could it? And he thought of the question he had wanted to make, the request that kept hanging, hovering over his head asking to be heard, to be stated. Would it be alright to ask such a thing of Theo? He didn't seem to like crowds very much and how could he force him to come to such a happening? The kiss was broken for a moment as they were both desperately gasping for air. "Come... to the ball... with me, Theo..." he nearly pleaded which sounded a little strange, even to him. But then he was kissed again and he let himself be pulled in for another kiss yet again.
Philemon had a great deal of peculiar wake up calls; from falling off his bed, to Desmond biting him awake, all sorts of strange dreams or nightmares and all that good -or not so good- stuff but nothing he had had so far could have possibly prepared him for what it would feel like to wake up only to find your teacher and twin brother making out but a few feet away, on a bed, while he was asleep. Not to say he didn't feel happy for them; he was! As a matter of fact he deemed it would be extremely remedial for the both of them to be together, learn to love one another and themselves. And it was great because he loved and trusted them both but even so it was still... very weird. He wasn't sure what he should say or do so he simply uttered a very quick "Good morning." as he sat up and darted out of the room as fast as he could.
He felt his heart sink once he was out of the door. As awkward as it had been and no matter that he was actually happy for them, at the same time they reminded him of the one thing he had managed to forget while rushing on the day before. He had never really managed to answer Orpheus' invitation... as much as he wanted to go with him he hadn't said it out loud... nor showed how happy it had made him to be asked out like that. And how terrible would it have felt for Orpheus... had he made him sad? He sincerely hoped he hadn't. Because he had promised to love him and more than anything he didn't want to hurt him. He had to go out, had to look for him. He'd go anywhere, everywhere if he had to, but he couldn't possibly leave it like this.
With that in mind, and almost already forgetting about what he witnessed in the bedroom he made a beeline for the kitchen to prepare something quick for breakfast. Kyu and Theo both could use a healthier diet, after all.

Kalypso letted Cedar latch on to her and went with her to get something to eat. As Cedar brought her food and they went outside. Kalypso looked around at all the reapers. She also saw a Black Heart. Her first time seeing one too.
She turned toward Cedar to listen to what she had to say. Cedar was saying something about voices and the murder. "Did they tell you who did this?" Cedar looked around again more aware of being out in public where everyone could see her. Hopefully no one will be so dumb as to commit murder out here in front of everyone to see.

Cedar realized that she had shouted, and she hushed her voice hoping the others hadn't heard. "Not in some crazy way..." She glanced around, hushing her voice. "I can hear what the trees and bushes... Even rocks. The wind carry them to me." She turned around to face Kalypso. "They didn't really give much detail, but said we aren't looking for what we think we need to look for..." She stumbled trying to phrase it. "Like... the person doing the killings is, not who/what we expect... It sounded better when I was hearing it..."
She tugged Kalypso to start walking a she talked. "I'm actually... Started to get nervous. I mean think about it... We have all these reapers around, and yet... It still happened. Though it was after the streets had quieted down, maybe this person has something else to do during the day, you know?" As they rounded the corner to head back toward the Inn, she caught sight of the boys...
Was that a cookie...?

Lumena Town Square - Bittersweet Cafe
She had returned because well. Another attack. Plus she was hungry and that parfait Rajih had gotten (or rather bribed?) her was on her mind. The cafe was just the place the she could sit back, enjoy some sweets, and think about how to find that damnable heart eater. As she entered the smell of chocolates and candies filled her, causing a smile. Ah the simple things. She had been going towards the back when she noticed a familiar head of hair. "Rajih~"
A giggle as she sat near. "Hrm-" As the waitress came and asked for her order, the witch eater smiled and asked for the same thing she'd gotten before. As she left Emelia's smile went south. "You look a bit upset. Did something happen?" Fingers traced on the glass of water she'd been left with. "And please tell me it has nothing to do with that last attack. I wasn't around last night, and didn't hear much."
